1950's Auto Yard Hidden in the Forest | More than 400 Vintage Cars | Destination Adventure

[Music] the land we bought a estate sale in 1956 and opened four acres in ottawa wrecking in 1957. so it's been here a while [Music] eighty percent of these cars got here between 1956 about we'll say october and and 64. because he died in january 55 but 80 percent of them been here that long now i brought a whole pile in because i've been here for 51 years oh that one's cheap you want to go for a walk i'll show you i'll show you expensive stuff look at how many cars you have here oh i got 400 of them at least you know i mean i can do this forever ever since i was a kid all i wanted to be was an explorer sail the seven seas find new worlds but uncle d everything's already been found what like everything well yeah oh man well so much for that but if i can't be an explorer i can still be an adventurer so i bought a motorhome and i'm hitting the open road my name is dustin porter and this is destination adventure [Music] for me part of what makes these videos fun is of course seeing the amazing collections but it's meeting the people and doug was no exception to that because he only let me interview him for about five minutes and then he insisted we go walk through the yard and he could teach me a little bit about these old cars and it turned out perfect because he knows something about every single vehicle in that yard and it was so fun learning about that first hand my old man started he's just finished selling a sawmill so he had cash the least beef motors record was a 1500 weight 13 cab world war ii army truck with a wrecker on it and we hauled cars in for the winter of 56.57 and by the spring of 57 he opened another wreck and he built his own record with all the rest of them in but 80 of these cars got here between 1956 about we'll say october and and 64. because he died in january 55 but 80 percent of them been here that long now i've brought a whole pile in because i've been here for 51 years when he died they're all 10 year old stuff coming in that's why they're all literally 55 to 57 okay and and as far as new stuff we never did bring any new stuff after that there's over 400 cars here at that time you could sell for 20 years never worry about it you only so you sell maybe four or five cars a year right so i mean you could literally back then we were selling more like one a year or so but yeah no no no problem run out of stock i'm overstocked now i got more now than i've ever had the guys project it he bought it like that and the carb quit on him he was driving it in whatever hell year it is he's got license plates on it [Music] 2011 he was driving it but it's got original interior in it it's a problem wow he's clean still yeah yeah it's also rotten you can stick your finger through it really well it's 1954 what do you expect you can't go 100 years on an upholstery okay you want to do a sit-down delivery that's a meteor that isn't a ford that's a meteor okay they don't make meteors in the states of course if you're wanting to do something small and round we can do small and round morris minor okay about a 49 50 51 somewhere in there this is a 1946 or 47. don't ask me i'd have to check on the chrome the only difference 60 series oldsmobile aero sedan or what do they call them fastback anyway two-door factory six-cylinder automatic oh yeah otherwise oldsmobile sold more automatics than you ever believe possible [Music] he's like this thing here guy look i looked and said look i don't want that but what's that car worth that's how's twenty five hundred dollars to get the carbs sitting on the motor still he's in that awful cheap i saw i'm making money and you're getting a deal what's the problem i can't see anything wrong with that i said exactly what's your problem why don't you take it home with you [Music] that is a 1927 star pour as enforced on the main six cylinders 2a and that by durant motors that's a two-door landau sedan and there's none out there there's a single picture on the internet that's it [Music] two door you've never seen a fastback due to our plymouth i'm sure i've not seen a lot of things in this 98 oh roadmaster sitting right there 35 o's mobile that's a 46 sport two door sedan yeah with everything there no engine transmission but the rear ends there and 51 monarch coupe wow look at how many cars you have here oh i got 400 of them at least you know i mean you can do this forever i knew there was going to be a lot back here oh no no two doors sit down 53 yeah problem with them things is they all wiped out and every last one we could do a quarter on look at this thing looks like the scooby-doo van it's a goddamn international travel wall three not a three door it's a two-door that one they don't have three on them yet yeah that's so rare it's scary really yeah we have a pontiac and a pontiac and a pontiac this is a six cylinder fastback okay yeah that's a straight eight two door the next one's a pontiac straight eight four-door silver streak need to say they don't like pontiacs here's another 52 yeah two-door i like the old-school plate on there still yeah that's cool tell me about this one that says esso on it right that is an early early early mod 28 model a wow it was cut down two-door sedan cut down for a parade car the 2x4 so the girls can sit on the back see the tires they're brand new tires are absolutely brand new because they're using it for parade car and that's a bulk plant it's got the auger horn in it come around here somewhere with your thing yeah come around here with your camera the things it's got see the alcohol oh it's not an exhaust whistle that's an intake whistle yeah that's an intake it's on the intake it's not on the exhaust that's cool where did this car come out of did you say alberta alberta okay see what that says yeah see this here at the chev 41 chevy businessman's coop this right here yeah oh yeah and what makes it a businessman see the federal right there yep no back seat see there's a sedan delivery station wagon gas tank okay that makes it a businessman scoop okay the club coupes have the filler where everybody else has the filler and they have a back seat it never ends oh it is forever you want to do a 46 chevy fastback genuine two-door fleet line we have all kinds of stuff you don't like that 51 monarch how about a 50 monarch it's got the different rear quarters that mercury truck our record hold everything in here this is your guys's record yeah it's our wrecker that hauled everything in here that that truck's been as far as rosslyn and prince rupert or something the old man used to carried away and bought stuff it looked cheap no matter where it was because for him it was a bloody holiday he'd just get in that thing and drive her down the road at 55 miles an hour and blow one engine a trip just put your camera down for a second sit behind there and close the door on yourself and see what the hell you're doing okie dokie you want to do this because that ain't no chevy or ford this is a fargo real live fargo just sit in there and try that thing out you want to try a truck oh yeah not wild and not wild eh that ain't no ford or chevy it's got a slant six on it that's still got the red paint on it really we don't think it's ever run i love the color of this thing you gotta remember there's no two no two the same you can't say that's pure because that overdone over there is pure too and it's entirely different we had two chevys in here okay there are two tens not belairs they're cheapy chevys the guy hands me two of these i'm sitting in the office he walked in and laid two on the counter and said what do you think of them i said what's the trick he said i just took them off of two two tens in your yard right i said okay he'd turn them over one was hollow cast and one was solid cast and he said that means there was at least two suppliers of that die cast and they went on cheap ones now don't forget they probably made gold ones on good ones okay good bel airs had 57 had gold trimming carrying ranch truck yeah that's cool so would you ever buy a brand new off the wall vehicle never you've got to be kidding me why not because you drive around the block it's worth half a much i don't know a whole lot about vintage automotive but i really enjoyed touring around with doug and learning about a bygone era where things were built to last a lot of those cars they've been sitting in that yard for 50 or 60 years and yeah there's some surface rust maybe you would call it patina but it's not like vehicles today where you drive it off the lot and 10 years later it's rotten and rusted right through and i really just enjoyed my time with doug he is a retired man living on a pension plan and you can still find him every single day working in his
