okay i might have shown this car i don't know now what are we i don't even know what it is it's got to be like a 4950 chevy business coupe i don't remember if it was like that or the feather radius those uh i remember i worked on this thing a long time ago i did the clip in the front so it has uh an s10 front clip i'm pretty sure it was a pretty solid car like there wasn't really much for rust or anything on it but it's got the an s10 clip it's got small block you know all those normal things [Music] small block i think this is the turbo 350. it's a healthy runs good it's healthy sounds like it anyways anyways i gotta mount these seats that is the game plan i bought a bunch of material and stuff but uh he wants to run these seats so i'm going to uh be pulling these out i'm going to figure out how to make some bases looks like there was some spots under there for some stuff like there was mounts for something before so let's get started let's figure this out [Music] well the best i can tell these seats are like power everything so what that means i don't know but it's got all these doodads on there must have been how it was fastened in the old car and they're kind of in the way of everything so i think what i've got to do is i'm going to cut this one off i'm going to cut this one off or at least just you know the the bits on there so i can make a plate the bolt to the floor so i think once i have those off the seats will sit a little more flat in the car and i can figure out how a feather wants them to fit how nice so uh anyways i'm gonna cut these off i'll place them in the car and then uh we'll see if i can use any of the original stuff or whatever was made in the car it looks like it's got some roofing something on the floor but i know these aren't stock so somebody's made these but i don't think there's any other mounts there's like no other holes in the floor and then this back seat of feathers got to figure out how to make it fit because it's kind of it's kind of small but i guess you know you can make an arm resting with bob in there that's not a big deal i'm sure he'll figure that out i'll just make it so the seat's mounted in some kind of mounting way hmm interesting yeah [Music] that should be fun no biggie and i believe this is a carpet so i probably should string that out to get that thing to arrow i'll do it later though once i start door panels then i can lay it on the roof so it'll uh do its thing and just cut those brackets off and see how it fits [Music] do [Music] do [Music] do [Music] well the seat feels comfy it's going back and forward but feels like it's straight i guess all i can do is measure off something to figure it out but for me to sit on it it feels straight uh but the problem is that thing hangs off there's nothing for the back of the seat because i guess these cars originally had a bench right so um i'm gonna have to build a plate to come off of there there's a hole in there that i can bolt to so i basically gotta go here off to the floor and uh i have to actually make a standoff on this side but pretty much the same same business same in the front there's nothing to hold the seat up uh so it seems pretty straightforward so i'm gonna make that one i can probably do in some lighter gauge steel like some eighth inch or do something like that maybe have some 3 16 i'll just do a little bend buzzer to the floor get one side bolted in i got the one hole i can drill and bolt already but uh just to kind of get the seat centralized i don't know seems okay it feels good when i'm in it let's get the hood down to see here i think it doesn't i think it's right yeah i don't know i'll keep playing around with it some more i'll measure it out make sure it's square it feels comfortable straight to the wheel so what do i know right but if i get one bolt in then i can kind of tweak the seat so i'll do that first well here you can see better what i got going on i got it bolted down this is the the power seat doodad but the one side's ground one side's power so that's straightforward i ground it to the chassis out of power there i'm gonna piggyback off of it for the other seat somehow well there's carpet so i'll be able to flush it under the carpet um like i say i just have one bolt the seat feels good everything is good where it's at so i basically just have to walk this stand off past this rail and come back down so that's a pretty easy something simple to make i have to do something similar in the back so i mean overall these seats will go in pretty easy i don't actually have to weld anything onto the seat because i can just modify off the floor and just use existing holes in the seat to bolt it down so i have to bend that all up but i'm not really feeling working on this thing anymore so that is tomorrow's plan right what see you you want to go inside yeah i want to go sit in the house let's do that so till tomorrow we'll get all these seats mounted tomorrow maybe get the carpet in i'll have to figure out some way to mount that back seat but front seats first one thing at a time okay pretty much everything's out of the shop no more distractions we are back to working on the seat so i've had a few days mucked around uh we got the one bolt in there everything feels fine with the seat so we're gonna go build that l bracket i'm gonna build the one side i'm gonna weld it's basically to get welded in it'll probably bolt to the floor on this side well yeah let's start with the front one thing at a time here [Music] do [Music] okie-doke it's probably as far as i'm going to get tonight so don't really want to weld and babysit for sparks and stuff after but so we got these plates all made and uh what they do the floor nice and warm there buddy i cleaned up but i got to grind all these sections but anyways i just zap the bolt underneath everything so i can get at it or you don't need to get a wrench anywhere anyways like the one goes there one goes behind the seat over in the far corner so that one will ram up into there and then this one comes up this side does the same thing this one kind of does double duty there's going to be get seat forward wants to play games ground keeps coming off [Applause] so this one will come forward bolt up into there and then i'll have a filler piece onto the side here to beef that up so i got to grind all this stuff down but tomorrow i'm going to come in quick i'm going to make all these brackets again for the other side quick and tack it in and then i'll show you the how the at least the front seats are mounted the back i'm not sure what i'm doing yet because there's nothing there so i pretty much have to fab some kind of a fandango thing there for the seats to sit in anyways till tomorrow i was kind of goofing around tonight and figured i'd at least put a half hour in working on something here you want to go in the house ready to go let's go come on hey what's the matter you don't want to get off the warm floor hmm all right till tomorrow [Music] [Music] do [Music] mm-hmm [Music] oh [Music] so [Music] do okey-doke my simple bracketry is all done it's gonna get covered with carpet so it won't be too big of a deal but so i basically gotta just mirror all this on the other side be pretty straightforward so i'm just gonna hammer up the brackets super quick and uh i'll just zap them in this size not too bad it was kind of crappy welding because it had the uh it must be some roofing asphalt or something somebody put down so it was hard to clean so it kind of wants to burn this side looks cleaner there's still some but not as bad it's all tin back here it didn't i didn't guess it didn't get the sheeting i guess there was a couple patches done here anyways i'm going to get the other seat in here get the first hole drilled center it up nicely and basically build the same brackets and then we can move on to the back seat [Music] do [Music] foreign [Music] so [Music] do [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] [Music] blue [Music] so [Music] okay after a bunch of fidgeting around i uh have these plates tacked in and then i put these stops on top so these are going to catch the hooks under the seat and then uh behind i made similar hooks to hook the back of the seat so that's done this post is up if a guy wanted to you could take this seat out uh on the back portion here i made some hooks hopefully you can see maybe you can't let me get a light first okie-doke so back here we have some uber simple hooks with a slot in it uh see if you can focus on that there you go so that's zapped in that's there these fasten the back of the seat because at the back of the seats we have those steel rods right there so those hook underneath there this back portion will hook into this thing and then up here i tack the little hook so we can uh get the seat fastened in so with all those things said and done the seats actually locked in and held in place really well so i'm gonna get the seats i'll get it all mounted you'll see it's all kind of permanent and then i think i'm to string out the carpet and uh let that just sit on the roof here kind of rest a little bit and then try to fit it in the car [Music] so [Music] [Applause] that's a pretty nice carpet kit from what i can tell i'm going to let it sit here and for a couple hours and just see if it kind of flattens out and rests a little better looks like this is the driver's side i know what it is interesting i'll see how it goes not sure how well it's going to work with that i'm going to have to cut out for the shifter and stuff like that but it's probably set up for the bench seats so imagine with the buckets and stuff not a lot of this is going to work but either way we'll let her air out that seat was a bit of a bugger to put in but she is permanent so yeah we'll let that sit i'll go in the house have a coffee and uh come back later get that that in and i'll get the seats bolted in and see where we're at [Music] do [Music] [Music] do [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] so seats are all bolted in i made some super simple sill panels i'm gotta let my buddy paint him up or do whatever he wants there i don't care uh just it holds the carpet down nicely in place that's all i care about uh the only problem with the carpet is it's well not really well there is a problem it's clearly for a sedan which is fine there's a little more meat in here which is hidden under that not a big deal uh but in the middle because it was a bench for a bench seat where the cars had a bench there's some metal showing here so i'm pretty sure he's going to put a console or do something so that's not a big deal that'll fix that up um yeah back seats in functions there's still a big uh big garp gap over in that corner so not a big deal i have to make some kind of an armrest or something in there something's got to go in there but no biggie i'm gonna have to make all the door panels yet and upholster them so no biggie there was no uh sill panels in the car so i'll have to monkey around with that figure stuff out i'm kind of feeling this video it's probably about at her end now um yeah so for next round what i'm going to do is i've got to make the door panels i got to get all the rubbers and the felts all in the doors i'm going to make some door panels some kind of clean smooth door panels we're gonna do some kind of a design in it i'm not sure for sure sure what we're doing uh what else do the garnish moldings just a bunch of little bits so not too bad should finish her up soon but anyways as always guys thanks for watching and uh we'll catch you on the next one later [Music] [Music] [Music] huh [Music] me
