How many miles to the gallon does it get in oil?
Related in a way: https://youtu.be/z8InG6T9pxs (Radial engine in a Toyota MR2. Running a couple of laps on a track.)
Why not?
1 - Power to weight ratio
2 - Cooling
3 - It runs 100LL (is this even legal?)
4 - Vibration
5 - Starting the damn thing
6 - etc
This guy was nuts enough to put a radial engine in a car. To the surprise of no one, he has cooling problems.
I couldn't get over his son laying UNDER THE TRUCK spraying starter fluid into the carb when it was started. He must've had a lot of faith that it wasn't going to lurch forward.
I swear I saw that monster on the ramp at KAPA 2 or 3 months ago, it was there for a photo shoot with what I think was a biplane. I only glanced at it because I was running checklists but I remember thinking the most remarkable part was the position lights.
I love the smoke billowing from the window. That's gotta put a spring in your step.
On a related note, that gigantic thing puts out 350 horsepower?
Quite a few cringe-worthy lines in there. Pretty clear that Jay knows his cars a lot better than his airplanes.
It looks cool, and why not if the plane was going to be scrap, but I think I'd rather see the C195 back on floats than in pieces in a truck...
