Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I can personally vouch for the ttgo oled boards (the V1's at least) having VERY disappointing performance at 915mhz.
However, ttgo's t-beam seems to be performing significantly better.
I was considering getting some ESP32 + LoRa modules, but I was concerned with the performance due to frequency and antennae differences. The guy with the Swiss accent gave me some good pointers, and I hope someone else can find this useful too. :)
The Heltec V2 is pretty deece. Certainly not getting 10km, but it can reach about a mile down the street from my living room with the right settings. I think some of these newer board versions are getting better, someone said good things about the TTGO beam as well. Definitely true that there are much better antennas and connection circuits out there.
EDIT: In summary, worth $30 on amazon to get your feet wet with the protocol and have fun. Itβll definitely reach MUCH further than WiFi etc..
Probably not a whole lot different between them. Have fun :)
