[Music] so welcome back everyone Mike here this evening I'm going to spread a little stone on this driveway down here at the new house and I'm gonna be using the RK 55 for that it's a pretty big tractor for this size of driveway but my stone pile is back here behind me and I'm starting up at the house and working my way down so that bucket holds a lot of stones so that's why I'm going to use it now I started last night just a little bit up around the garage and stuff with the RK 24 and it worked pretty well for that but I'll show you what kind of stone I'm using and what I got going on here and why I'm doing what I'm doing so I'm using this we call this here in Pennsylvania 57s this is like inch inch and a half clean Rock I'm using this for the base and then on top of that I'll use this crusher run this is like an inch and a half down to dust and it packs really well now normally I would use a bigger base rock like a three inch rock but this shale that I put down here in this fill it's super hard I mean it's very hard it's sealed up really well even when it rains real hard you can drive right across this not make a mark on it and then the existing driveway up here there's actually a lot of base here I mean I made a bunch of trips up here in the truck tractors all kind of stuff it's not even putting a mark on it so I'll be fine just with the 57 s and then a crusher run on top of that so here's what I did last night with the arc a 24 I don't have it graded up yet or anything but you can see the 57 rock and then I'm just putting a little layer of crusher run on top of it so since this driveway slopes down this way and in the parking area it kind of comes this way and then that way all those different angles make it hard to really cut a nice grade with that big tractor so this area up here I'm just going to try to get some 57 stone I they're close to where I want it and then I'll pile up some crusher run in here and then tomorrow evening I'll bring the art k24 down that nice small tractor and get this all real nice so while I'm thinking of it two other things that I want to mention I talked in a couple videos ago but maybe having a firewood stacking competition well that's a go we're gonna do that I expect to see a video with all the rules and all that stuff probably within the next two weeks but I think it'll be kind of fun I'll have a nice setup where people can submit pictures and everyone can vote on them I'm working all the details out now but I'd say within the next two weeks I will have a video out explaining all those details and I'm going to provide one grand prize for the best stack of firewood that everybody votes for but I think of this thing grows legs a little bit I think I can probably get a few other people to contribute a few other things into the prize pool we'll see how that goes but so expect to see that video here within the next two weeks with all the rules and it is international all over the world so that's what I'm gonna work on the other thing I want to mention June 8th the Butler Bantam Jeep Festival the Jeep invasion that Friday night if anyone wants to meet up my Melissa and I will be there that evening with our Jeep you don't need a Jeep to attend if you want to you know come and you know be us a little bit about tractors or firewood or jeeps or whatever we'll be there and if you're planning on coming like our Facebook page outdoors with the Morgans and we'll kind of provide updates there on where we're gonna be and what time and all that stuff as we get closer to that date also we are more active on Instagram now if you want to check that out as well but anyway I better get started because they got about 40 minutes that gets dark check this watch out it's a Samsung gear watch I was just on the zero turn mower and it thought I was I just rode like a bicycle pretty soon I'll be in the Tour de France or something according to this anyway I gotta get busy [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] I'm sure most of you have spread stone with the tractor before but if you haven't the most important thing in my opinion is this you just put it on a little layer at a time and you might not get full coverage on that first pass you just back up I'm in there with the loader control just going like this just kind of bumping it a little bit and you're just shaking it on there real nice and thin because what happens is if you get a little too carried away and you get bumps in there each time the tractor goes up one of those bumps you're going to dump more stone and it's just gonna get worse and worse so I like to just put a thin layer across there and if I don't get full coverage or as much as I want just back back over it again the whole time just bumping that loader control the dump cylinder just a little bit and you just want to shake it out of there and put a nice layer on there like I didn't back drag this once down there and it's pretty smooth right now I think what I'm gonna do next is haul some more of that 57 stone up finish down almost to the pile and then I need a little bit right here where I'm standing and then I think tomorrow night I will bring the crusher run up here with a big tractor and get this parking area on grade and start spreading the crusher run I'll be used both the arcade 24 and the arcade 55 [Music] [Music] so that's looking pretty good that's no back dragging or anything like that just sprinkling it on there so like I said earlier if you've never spread stone with your tractor before the only advice I can give slow and steady but the biggest thing is you just want to sprinkle it on you don't want to try to just put two inches on at a time or three inches on at a time if you do and you start dumping too much you're gonna get a bump as soon as your front tires go over that bump and you come down the other side you're gonna dump another big pile and you're gonna be going like this and your driveway is going to be very rough and you'll have a lot more grading work to do like this behind me I didn't back drag that at all and it's pretty darn close right now so the next step will be I'll get some crusher run up there and start topping that off and then here at the end like when I'm done with this whole driveway done with the house I'll probably get one more load of crusher run and kind of put a final grade on it so what I'm trying to do here now is get to 57 s down and the crusher run and get it all run in a little bit and see how it's doing I think it's going to do really well it's all good and hard and then I'll finish it off once everything's done with one more load to crush or run and really dress it up nice but that's playing anyways so anyway like I always say if you enjoy these videos
