there's a first time for everything and for the next few minutes you're going to experience a bunch of firsts we can almost guarantee that you will have never seen anything as strange peculiar and incredible as some of the things we're about to show you prepare to fall off your chair in shock these are things that you will see for the first time in your life [Music] number 15 shark eggs sharks are some of the most feared predators on the planet and while you're probably fully aware of what a fully grown one looks like or even a juvenile have you ever seen a shark's egg seventy percent of shark species give birth to live young but the remaining thirty percent as well as other species closely related to them like rays skates and chimeras are all avi paris which means they lay eggs in as safe a place as possible and leave their young to fully develop before finally hatching they are made up of the same constituent parts as a chicken egg but there are some major differences when lit from behind you can see the embryo and the yolk which provides the young shark with all the nutrients it requires but then there's the shape and makeup of the shell to survive in the water with currants there are sticky tentacle-like structures that hold the egg firmly onto the surface and the egg itself has a leathery complexion and protects them from any potential predators shark eggs come in a wide range of different shapes and sizes that are adapted to the particular environments in which they live and before it was realized what they were those that washed up on the beach were often called mermaid purses like this video smash the subscribe button and click the notification bell right now or this centipede will crawl on your face when you're sleeping now it's time for the juicy topic we are confident that what you are looking at right now is far from the sort of thing you see every day and if we are wrong and you do see stuff like this every day we want your life as you can see for yourself this photo shows a kid riding a bike nothing out of the ordinary here but he has a goat riding on his back not every bike riding kid does that they didn't do that in stranger things the photo was brought to our attention by a fan of the channel who chose to remain anonymous who is a british photographer who says that he took this photo himself when he was traveling around the world for work truly remarkable isn't it even if it doesn't look all that safe comment down below with the hashtag juicytopic and let us know your opinion in relation to what we just showed on screen with that said let's keep things moving number 14 albino baby turtle born with its heart outside its body has survived in 2019 a turtle breeder in new jersey found himself in possession of one of the rarest turtles ever born not only was it an albino something that's thought to only occur once every 100 000 births but it was also born with its heart outside of its body it was a complete miracle that the turtle had survived this long and so the owner could only think of one appropriate name for it hope there's a similar rare condition in humans that's called ectopia cordis but this is the first known instance of it happening in a species of reptile in fact it's so unusual that there's not even a name for it in veterinary medicine but despite hope's apparent disadvantage it didn't stop her from enjoying a fairly normal life the pink belly side neck turtle was kept in a tank but had to be carefully handled because she was so fragile she wasn't able to be kept with other turtles because of the chance of them accidentally causing her harm and with no caring guidelines her owner had to take what he described as a common sense approach number 13 ghost plant this strange-looking flower is the indian pipe plant more commonly known as a ghost plant they are found in asia north america and the northern part of south america but despite this wide range their numbers are few and far between growing up to 12 inches tall they are usually almost completely white apart from a few black speckles and grow scales along their stocks that are translucent while the way they look might be weird enough that's not even the strangest thing about this species you'll have noticed that not a single part of them are green which means they are unable to produce food by photosynthesis like most other plants do instead they are parasites and grow on a particular type of fungi that grows mainly on beech trees by gaining their nutrients in this way ghost plants can grow in complete darkness in dry environments and within the undergrowth of forests with no problem the one place that it's very difficult to grow them is in a propagator however which is why you've probably never seen one in a garden center or florist and likely won't ever be able to number 12 the way malaysians move their homes think back to the last time you moved home and all the planning and stress that was involved didn't you wish there was some other way quite often the main reason for relocating is simply because you want to live in a new area that more fits your desired lifestyle and not necessarily because there's anything wrong with your current house well perhaps we could learn a little from the way that malaysian communities used to overcome this problem because when it was time for them to move they'd simply take their home with them the houses which were made from wood had gaps beneath the floors that poles could be slid through and with the help of enough people they would use these to lift the structure off its foundation and take it to the new location entire villages would be moved in this way to follow the resources needed for everyday life and the homes were designed right from the start with the ability to lift them in mind it is however a lost art and isn't done anymore recently a team of researchers replicated the technique with an original home and proved that it's a far more practical and economical way of moving that doesn't require a whole new house to be built before you can settle in number 11. grape agate you may think you've seen or have heard of all of the unusual and amazing looking gems or minerals in the world but surprisingly new structures are continually being found one of the most impressive that has been discovered in recent years is known as grape agate and it was only first seen in 2017 it's clear why it's been given this name because it's made up of tiny round purple and blue spheres that look like a bunch of fruit its scientific name however is botrioidal purple chalcedony which means it's a spherical shape type of cryptocrystalline that's made up of small formations of quartz and moganite it feels waxy to the touch and can be translucent or semi-transparent so it creates a fantastic glow when light is shone into it when it's dark currently the only place that this new mineral has ever been found is in indonesia where it forms inside geodes there's no reason why it won't form anywhere else though and it seems only a matter of time until a similar gem is found somewhere near you number 10. fish pass over dams in seconds with environmental destruction and alterations that are done throughout the world to improve life for humans countless animal species suffer the consequences fish in particular may find that their migration routes are blocked by the construction of dams and rerouted waterways and this can affect ecosystems across entire continents the woosh system is like taking the first step of a ladder luckily a company called woosh innovations has come up with an extraordinary device that they call the salmon cannon and it has been installed in locations across the us it's almost unbelievable to hear but by mimicking a natural environment salmon are tempted to swim into the lower end of the contraption are sucked in and are propelled through a tube upstream until they're released on the other side of the blockage if the thought of salmon swimming upstream is funny enough just watch as they're shot out of a pneumatically powered cannon currently the largest one is installed at the c elem dam in washington where they travel one thousand and seven hundred feet end to end amazingly this is all done without harming the fish at all oxygen levels in the water are monitored to ensure they can breathe and the pressure that's exerted upon them is no more than they experience when they're deep in water number 9. glow rocks gem hunter eric rintomaki was scouring a beach around lake superior in michigan in 2017 when he discovered something completely unexpected he had with him a uv light that he used to help identify different rocks but soon realized that a large mount of otherwise uninteresting stones emitted a strange glow when he shone it on them not knowing what they were made from he named them yupolite rocks and collected as many as he could to sell to other collectors and send to local university labs for study the tests found the dull looking cyanide rocks to contain large quantities of a fluorescent substance called sodalite which reacts in this magnificent way under certain frequencies of light this was the first time any proof had been found that it was present in michigan and it's believed that they originally formed high up in the canadian mountains before being transported to the lake by glaciers many thousands of years ago there are millions of them on the shores and in the water and now his main business is taking tourists to the area where they can find and keep one for themselves number eight girl sheds tears of glass superhero movies can often involve a character who has unusual abilities that they can't quite understand or that don't appear to be useful but this isn't something confined to tv screens occasionally someone is born with a genetic abnormality that defies belief and this is exactly what happened to a lebanese girl called hasna masalmani for the first 12 years of her life she seemed like any other girl but then she suddenly began crying tears of glass from her left eye according to her parents she woke up one morning with a pain in the region and the sensation that something was going to come out of it and when they went to the doctors three shards of crystal were removed since then as many as eight per day have been removed and a visit to the eye doctors has now become a daily occurrence there's a debate as to exactly why this is happening one theory is that her father accidentally broke a glass near her and that the shards had entered the area around her eye but this wouldn't explain why it's been happening for so long the total amount of material that's been removed to this point far exceeds the amount you'd find in an entire glass the other suggestion and more likely one is that there's been a fault in the development of her tear ducts which means that too large of a quantity of minerals enter without enough fluid and while the liquid dries up at night time the substances that are dissolved within it are able to crystallize and form these shards number 7 bronson you'd normally expect to find a fat cat working in a bank or large corporation but one family whose profession is making wall-mounted cat furniture which is apparently a thing or looking for a new addition to their home and model for their products when they came across bronson at the local animal shelter they immediately fell in love with the cat not just because of his personality and friendliness but because he had clearly been fed far too much in his life and weighed a whopping 33 pounds despite being only three years old he's like like a gentle giant to me but then he's got a lot of stats to him they also noticed he was a polydactyl cat and had extra fingers and very pronounced thumbs this truly was a one of a kind and they took him home to put him on a carefully controlled diet and hopefully to help him return to being fit and healthy he's been an instant hit with the family their neighbors and even their vets and has been slowly losing weight since he moved in with them the other two cats that the family already had have warmed up to him too but so far they use the wall-mounted cat furniture to hide from him because at this weight bronson isn't quite ready to take part in the family business number six invisibility cloak if you were granted the power of invisibility what would be the first thing you'd do ignoring all the crude suggestions you've just thought of the obvious answer is that you'd sneak into the woods to see what bears do when no one's around but either way this has always been a pipe dream fantasy consigned to science fiction and fantasy until now invisibility cloak material from hyperstealth biotechnology corporation a canadian company called hyperstealth biotechnology is already one of the world's leading suppliers of unique camouflage uniforms for militaries around the world but their latest design takes this to a whole new level known as quantum stealth it can be used to hide just about anything from people and weapons to tanks planes and even buildings by making everything that's behind it vanish surprisingly it doesn't require a power source to work it's paper thin and relatively inexpensive to produce the basic principle that it works on is that it bends light around an object to hide it and works on a range of wavelengths such as visible light ultraviolet and infrared this new material was submitted for a patent application in late 2019 so you might see it being used very soon and with a bit of luck we'll finally find out what those bears are up to number five water jousting warriors most sports lovers around the world regularly watch one of the more popular games whether it be soccer football cricket hockey tennis or rugby but what if you like something a little different there are plenty of unusual sports that you can get involved in but some are truly unbelievable in the south of france an event that's been traced back to roman times is water jousting and it's just as crazy as it sounds not content with normal jousting on horsebacks water jousting is played in boats where the intent is to knock the other person out while everyone else sings medieval tunes it used to be so popular that venues were purposefully flooded so spectators could get a great view [Music] and the best place to watch it now is in the port town of set where the august festival championships have been held every year since 1666. there are two teams the reds and the blues and each boat has ten oarsmen and one jouster drummers and obists play to keep the paddlers in time and the boats row past each other the jousters have a lance and a huge shield but only have one chance to succeed if they're knocked into the water everyone laughs at them and they have to wait until the following year to restore their honor number four bubble nets new technologies allowing us to witness the behaviors of animals and their natural habitats like never before and the ingenuity of some is awe-inspiring in 2019 researchers found a pond of humpback whales as they migrated around the alaskan coast and witnessed an unusual but highly effective hunting method that was being used at first they'd swim deep and then thrust upwards towards a shoal of fish in a spiral formation while blowing bubbles to create a net that makes it more difficult for the fish to swim away they use their flippers to flap at the weaker parts of the net to reinforce it and with nowhere to go the bubble structure helps to guide fish straight into their mouths it's thought a behavior like this is common to the entire species no matter where they live but so far it's only been seen in alaskan waters with humpbacks chasing after salmon the flippers previously thought to only be used for swimming are much more useful than had ever been thought with more drones following and observing animals like these from a distance who knows what we'll find out next number three one thousand year old windmills still in use today windmills have been used in countries all around the world for hundreds of years [Music] but with the industrial revolution structures harnessing wind power to grind grain have become far less common there's a town in northern iran however where the windmills that were built at least one thousand years ago are still in operation today nashtophan has a population of just over 6 000 people and is an almost entirely agreeant community it's a particularly windy region and their ancestors built a number of windmills from clay straw and wood it's amazing that they still work today with very little maintenance needed and they are still used to mill flower which is the town's main export the design used is thought to have inspired those built by the persians hundreds of years later and subsequently the ones that were commonly seen across europe but these ones in nashtopan also have another benefit the way that they've been positioned around the town means that they actually protect the residents from the extreme winds and makes it much easier for them to live there number two stone forest china we often hear about the importance of the world's forests as the places where oxygen is produced and that support a wealth of biodiversity but instead of trees have you ever seen a forest made of rock it's a rare geological formation and one of the most amazing regions like this in the world can be found in the yunnan province of china [Music] known as xilin which translates to mean stone forest covers an area of 186 square miles it's thought to have been formed around 186 million years ago as a karst formation which has been gradually eroded by wind water and seismic activity in the following millennia this has left a series of giant stone pillars and labyrinths and countless caves waterfalls underground rivers and even a lake with its own stone island in the center due to its otherworldly appearance the stone forest has become an integral part of local culture and is host to several festivals and ceremonies each year including the torch festival that's held in honor of the ashima stone which is said to have been formed after a young girl ran into the forest and was turned into rock by a curse because she wasn't allowed to marry the man she loved number 1. flying taxi transport has evolved so much in the past century but just as we appear to be reaching the pinnacle someone comes along with an incredible idea we are now used to being able to hail a cab simply by tapping an app on our phones and are on the cusp of the introduction of driverless vehicles to take us wherever we need to go but what if you want to travel faster and without the constant problem of traffic a german company called lillium has come up with the perfect solution to get around these inconveniences a flying taxi the electrical vehicle can perform vertical liftoffs and landings and has enough room for five passengers the first prototype which has 36 engines has already been built and demonstrated and with a maximum speed of 186 miles per hour and a range of around 200 miles lilium claims that they'll be able to produce commercial versions that'll be seen in cities around the world by 2025. this could well be the future of urban transport and will change the face of how we travel forever which of these did you find to be the most amazing and have you seen anything like them before make sure to let us know in the comments section also check out our other cool stuff showing up on screen right now see you next time
