15 Pool Noodle Hacks for Fishing

hey guys fishing and stuff today i got 15 pool noodle hacks that you're probably gonna find interesting [Music] i got a lot of poo noodle hacks so stick around [Music] hey guys today i've got 15 pool noodle hacks and hopefully you'll find something useful i mean there's so many different kinds and sizes of pool noodles on the market it's ridiculous and you can make a lot of awesome stuff with them you can also use pipe insulation if you can't find pool noodles i mean they're basically the same thing they're just black and they come in all different sizes something else cool about pipe insulation is you can buy these things pre-split and they got glue on them so when you close them they seal up another cool thing about pop insulation is you can buy joints pre-made joints that fit on stuff that's pretty cool right there i normally do diys on this channel and if you ain't been on here before you need to go over and check out my channel page i got a long list of diys that'll help let's get in these pool noodle hacks poo noodle hack number one all right on this first pool noodle hat this is probably the most dead pool doodle diy out there and it's called a catfish noodle or some people call it a catfish jug i made this on a different video it's a pvc video i did but you basically just take three quarter inch pvc cut you a piece of a steel stake and you put it in it for weight like to cut a piece of the steak off about three inches long then you put a cap on both ends and one end you put an eye bolt you tie your string to the eye bolt and you put your hook and a sinker on it well this thing floats like this in the water and when you get a bite the weight slides to the other end and it makes this thing stand up in the water so you know you got a fish on it i don't use these a lot but if i go to a lake where i don't know where the catfish are this is a good way to figure out where they're at by throwing a couple of these out this piece of pvc is cut at 18 inches in length and this pool noodle is about 10 inches that seems to work good this is the size pool noodle i use but you can get really really big pool noodles and you can get smaller pool noodles any of them would work i would think just adjust the length of it according to the size pool noodle hack number two now i've got two videos on how to make planter boards and both of them work good this one here i use styrofoam and it took on a little bit of damage so i made a new video and i made another planter board and i made this one out of boston wood and this pretty dang tough works really well i've also got planter boards that i bought and you can buy them if you want to but instead of using styrofoam or instead of using bottle wood you could use a pool noodle and it might sound absurd but a lot of people out there do this pool noodles work great on planter boards and all you really need to do is go over and watch one of the videos where i made the bottom of it and instead of making the top like i do just split your pool noodle and stick it on there and it'll work just as good i've actually got a lot of friends that use pool noodle planter boards so i know for a fact they work pool noodle hack number three now i really like these big noodles they're a whole lot bigger than a regular noodle and if you used to take a piece of pvc run it through the noodle and put an end cap on one end the other end drill a hole in it then i'm gonna take some paracord and tie a knot in it so it won't come out now once we got our little rope tied to it you got yourself one of them boat bumpers and it's a whole lot cheaper than one of those you buy plus i just put a new decal on my boat and i don't want to get it all scratched up and if you're interested i got a video about that too hack number four i've got two kayaks and i got kayak fishing but i have a truck but some people don't have a truck a lot of people have to cord top their kayaks if you're core topping a kayak pool noodles work excellent for that because you don't want to scratch top your car up throwing your kayak upper well some people use these little ones but if i was car topping a kayak i would get some of these big ones which i got at walmart by the way they are huge i mean look at the difference in the size of these things but that's what i would get i would get some big pool noodles and they'd work great for car topping your kite i like these big pool noodles and i like the idea of putting my kayak on them on top of my car but they like to roll around a lot where this one here it's just as big but it don't roll i mean it stops this right here it just might be the ticket that's actually not a bad idea cool noodle hack number five speaking of core top and stuff one of my subscribers his name's john bailey he made a rack that you could car top rod and reels and that thing's awesome he shared it with me and i asked him if he minded if i put it on my video and he didn't this rack he made you could put it on top of your car and car top your rod and rails or you could put it in the back of a pickup truck i've seen a lot of pictures online where people do this and it's actually a great idea john's also got a youtube channel and i'll leave a link to his channel in the description box below hack number six there is nothing worse than dropping your rotten water and watching it sink to the bottom but with a pool noodle you can stop that from happening they sell rod floats online and those things aren't cheap but they will save your rod especially if you're in a kayak or something where it's easy to lose a rod rod floats aren't a bad idea but this hack right here is where the pop insulation really shines because it's small you can get it that'll go over a half inch pipe and it seals itself when you put it on there so you don't even need tie straps or nothing to hold it now you might want to experiment with the length because the length is going to determine the buoyancy and some rods and reels are heavier than others number seven i've had buddies going down the lake on their boat and some boats go pretty fast well their net will blow off their boat and this doesn't sink before you can go back and get it or you could be netting a fish and if you drop that thing in the water it's a goner well if you put some pool noodles on your net if you drop it it ain't gonna stick to the bottom of the lake might save your net that's a good idea pool noodle hack number eight i got a video where i made this cool gopro floatie mount and i made it with pvc and pool noodles then i made another pvc video and i made another gopro floatie mount but i made this one to where you can take it apart and you can store it easier on your boat you just put your gopro on top of it and you can get some cool shots while you're out fishing from outside your boat and i've tested both of these and they are awesome hack number nine i made a video a few months back and it was called eight rod storage hacks i showed eight different ways that you could make rod storage racks to hold your rods well one the simplest and coolest one was with a bull noodle all you gotta do is you hang one of these pool noodles on the wall cut slits in it and you can store your rods in it it actually is pretty dang cool and it's really cost effective pool noodle hack number 10. on my last act video i talked about making catfish bobbers out of pool noodles there's a lot of coolants on the market but all you really got to do is put a tie strap on it put a swivel through it and if you out fishing at night bam put you a glow stick in the other side and you'll be able to see that thing that was on my last hat video from last week actually pool noodle hack number 11. on this next pool noodle hack i did a bucket hack video a while back where i showed 17 different ways you can do things with five gallon buckets one of the buckets i put a toilet seat lid on so if you're out in your boat fishing at night or something you gotta use the bathroom i mean nature cars you gotta go you could take your pool noodle take you a knife split it right down the center you take your pvc noodle and you put it around the top of your bucket well when you're done you got yourself a homemade pool noodle toilet seat hang your little roll of toilet paper right here you good to go get it good to go toilet seat never mind poor noodle hack number 12. i got several videos about making the anchors cause you got boat you have anchor a lot of people put buoys on their anchor rope so if they hook into a good fish and they're fighting it and they're afraid the fish is going to get hung in their anchor rope they can just unhook the anchor and let it go but a buoy will keep your anchor rope afloat so you can go back and find it when you're done and pull yanker up well these buoys cost a little bit of money and you could do the same thing with a pool noodle just cut you a pool noodle and strap it onto your anchor rope with some zip ties or something just like you did to net or some of the other projects and you got yourself a anchor buoy number 13 get you a pool noodle any size of work cut you a piece of it off as long as you want it to be then take your razor blade and split it in half so you can open it up like that if you put it on one of the grab rails on your console then you can hang your favorite lures on them that way they're good and handy when you need them you ain't got to dig through a bunch of plano boxes to find them you can stick it down here on the side too number 14. on this next one you could take yourself a pool noodle cut you a length of it off and a lot of guys are using them to store their leaders when they're catfishing or ocean fishing you can just wrap your litter around to stick it in it and it'll keep everything from getting tangled up or you could just use it for a hook saver and last but not least hack number 15. all right on this hat get yourself a laundry basket but don't get one with big holes like this i'm just warning you get you one like this or like this or even this but when you get the right laundry basket then you get yourself a pool noodle and some zip ties cut your pool noodle to go around the top of the laundry basket zip tie it on there when you're done you got yourself a live oil it's a floating live well well there you have
