ask any dog lover and they'll tell you that all doggos are sweet adorable and worthy of our love and ownership the problem is not all dogs are legal in all countries some come with restrictions or are downright banned [Music] from tosa inu banned for its history to wolf dogs illegal for obvious reasons here are 15 most illegal dog breeds in the world number 15 german shepherd german shepherds are one of the most popular dog breeds in the world and for plenty of good reasons they're beautiful intelligent strong and incredibly devoted to their families they are also hard workers which you may have already known if your local police force or rescue teams have them as employees so it may shock you to learn they're actually restricted in heaps of countries i'm not gonna lie i'm shook even in the united states they're at the top of the list for the dogs most likely to bite for this reason and maybe a couple of others they're restricted in florida german shepherds are also placed in the dangerous dog breed category in ireland which means you can own them but they must be on a short and robust leash held by someone over 16 and muzzled in public they are banned all together in ukraine maldives and belarus and some restrictions are in place in the united arab emirates romania malaysia singapore iceland and bermuda basically if they're placed into the restriction category this just means a few more regulations apply such as muzzles spaying and neutering and compulsory training before we go on like this video smash the subscribe button and click the notification bell right now or this centipede will crawl on your face when you're sleeping [Music] number 14 tibetan mastiff tibetan mastiffs are some of the most adorable doggos i've ever seen in my life okay so i'd say that about most dogs but still they're so loving and gentle not to mention cute but of course they have to be illegal or restricted for a reason and it mostly has to do with their distrust for strangers they can be quite protective and territorial which isn't necessarily a bad thing but these dogs can sometimes end up in the ownership of people who should known a pet rock let alone a dog these natural family protectors are on the restricted list in many countries and also banned in a few as well in the united states you can't own tibetan mastiffs if you live in fairfield which is the county seat of jefferson county in iowa they're also banned in the maldives along with all mastiff and large shepherd dogs some restrictions may apply in germany and france and you must be at least 18 years old to own a tibetan mastiff in belarus they're also outright banned in malaysia and possibly in ukraine as well laws are changing all the time though so even countries that have previously banned them may decide to restrict them instead number 13. kane corso ping corsos are beautiful italian breeds of mastiff that people purchase as companion dogs for protection tracking and even in law enforcement they're highly trainable with a stable quiet and calm temperament okay so sure given their size and scary facial features you might be a bit fearful if you were to see one on the street but when they're raised right and trained well king corsos can be lovable family pets unfortunately this breed also has a fierce protective streak which can be damaging in the hands of someone who really shouldn't own dogs that's why restrictions apply in many countries and they are outright banned in others currently they're illegal in the united states singapore and australia but ownership restrictions may apply other countries like ireland france germany england and canada aren't taking any chances and have banned or at least limited ownership of them all together some states or regions within some of these countries may have their own rules like other breeds ownership restrictions can change at any time and may have already in some countries number 12 tosa enu tosa enus make great pets they're loving large strong sensitive and quiet however they're victims of breed specific legislation because of the history around their breeding and what they were actually bred for they come from the tosa region on the island of shikoku in japan and were bred as dog sumo wrestlers basically fighting dogs local breeds were crossed with bull terriers great danes mastiffs and saint bernards until the tosa inu was eventually perfected they are massive dogs with blocky heads short reddish coats and thick muscular necks they also have a fierce bark on them but tend to be quiet most of the time so it's pretty obvious what they're about to learn next they're banned and restricted in several countries primarily this has to do with their strengths if another dog attacks them they won't back down from the challenge and have high pain thresholds you would find it incredibly hard to bring them under control once a fight broke out while some countries like the uk have restrictions on ownership they're outright banned in australia new zealand malaysia fiji malta denmark turkey and more basically you'd find it easier to ask which countries they aren't restricted or banned in number 11 gol dong the gold dong is not a dog you're probably all that familiar with you probably haven't even seen one in person although if you have we'd like to hear about your experiences in the comments they were developed about 120 years ago in a part of british colonial india that is now pakistan their ancestors include the english bull terrier and the pakistani mastiff or pakistani bully kutta due to their size and apparent strength goldons make excellent working dogs they've also been used as bear hunters guard dogs and for family protection although as you can imagine we don't all have innocent intentions this breed has also been used for dog fighting even though this practice is illegal in most parts of the world many countries have now banned guldons this is because even though they are independent loyal and agile dogs they are also incredibly dominant and strong-willed when they end up in the wrong hands they can easily be trained to be aggressive given how many countries may restrict or ban ownership of them it's worth checking out your local dog laws to find out whether they're on the list or not number 10 rot rottweiler rodweilers are an incredibly versatile dog breed that has been widely used throughout history to help us humans with a variety of tasks they've helped us with cattle herding protection guarding search and rescue and even functions within police forces and militaries they are intelligent loyal and incredibly protective dogs not to mention huge most people would happily own a rottweiler but not everyone can rules and regulations around their ownership can be complicated they're often not banned in entire countries but specific states cities and even small towns there's a city-wide ban of rottweilers in collins mississippi and restrictions on dogs with half or more rottweiler breeding in milwaukee wisconsin they're also defined as vicious animals in corinth mississippi which means you have to have an insurance policy covering liability if you own one these are just a few of the many complicated rules of rottweiler ownership so no wonder people just buy retrievers restrictions on their ownership are in place in ireland singapore portugal and romania and they are banned in ecuador and the bermuda islands number nine kangal tangles also known as turkish kangal kangel shepherd and kurdish kangal are strong massive independent and loyal dogs from kangal in the turkish province of shivas they were bred by villagers for stock guarding but have also become helpful farm dogs and much love family pets if you've never heard of this breed before let alone seen one it might be due to their rarity outside of turkey to protect the breed's quality they have now banned their export that's not to say you won't find them elsewhere though they aren't banned in the united states and there's a kangal dog club of america to make sure they are bred ethically although some restrictions may apply in some states cities and towns their rarity makes them incredibly expensive with some people paying up to four thousand dollars or even more to get their hands on a kangal pup only the most experienced owners with strong-willed large dogs should consider welcoming a kangal into their home even though they're illegal in the united states and most other countries some places do impose restrictions they are banned in denmark and ownership is severely restricted in belarus and ukraine number eight full mastiff if you or anyone else in your family or friend circle has ever owned a bull mastiff you probably know firsthand how incredible they are they are energetic athletic intelligent and quite dopey sometimes in saying that there's a reason why they're banned or restricted in many countries they can also be aggressive with temperamental behavior which means they're capable of being incredibly dangerous when in the wrong hands and unfortunately that can happen more often than you might think to keep them out of the hands of the wrong people and to protect innocent people it's not uncommon to find that they are heavily restricted in many places for example you must be over 16 to walk them on a short leash in ireland and they must also be wearing a muzzle many large dog breeds including the bull mastiff are prohibited in usa army housing and officially banned in the bermuda islands you may also find that they are restricted in belarus and ukraine still there are many places where they are allowed just sometimes with restrictions before owning one it can be worth checking out your local laws number seven sharpay as cute and cuddly as sharpay's look and can be with their families there are many reasons why they feature on restricted and banned lists they are absolutely devoted to their families but can be standoffish with strangers according to some vets and animal experts sharpays can also have severe personality problems that don't exactly give most people much confidence when being around them in saying that breeders have made headway with clearing up some of those more noticeable issues that's not to say that their personality issues make them a danger but it does mean they can become a danger when put in the wrong hands so basically what i'm saying is that most dogs have the potential to become extremely dangerous when extremely dangerous people are in control of them even if they aren't banned or restricted in your town or city you may find that some specific housing areas don't allow them it's always worth doing your homework before you welcome one of these cute doggos into your life that way you can make sure that you're following all local laws and legislation number six chow chow chow chows have gained a reputation as being unfriendly territorial and dangerous dogs as a result they're restricted and banned in many cities across the u.s like kentucky texas georgia and kansas that's not to say that experienced owners can't ensure their chow chow is safe to be around others but restrictions stop those who shouldn't own them from getting their hands on them in most cases poor ownership and general personality issues can make chow chows dangerous to outside dogs small dogs in your own home dogs of the same sex unknown humans guests and even small children therefore it's probably not surprising to you or me that it's not just the united states that views them with caution they may not be banned but many countries have restrictions on them such as making sure they're spayed or neutered only walked with a muzzle and short leash by those over the age of 16 and more we're making it sound like all chow chows are bad but that's not what we're saying at all we believe that most dogs are capable of being integrated into home life with a family but that some require more experienced owners than others number five wolf dog it probably won't take you two guesses to work out what a wolf dog is they are hybrids between domestic dogs and wolf subspecies typically they take on a similar appearance to shepherds the alaskan malamute and huskies laws around their ownership are complicated most states in the u.s don't allow purebred wolves to be kept as pets but the same restrictions don't always apply to those that have been crossed with domestic dogs then nevada's slightly different from most with no need for a permit to own or transport wolves they just have to be reared in captivity for use as companion animals for humans ownership of wolf-like dogs has increased in recent years but hybridization has been happening since around the 18th century there are several ways to define a wolf dog which makes regulations and laws tricky inbreeding over the years also makes tracing a bloodline hard to determine whether a dog is part wolf or not typically they can be first or second generation wolf dogs and then it gets murky after that every state is different when it comes to wolf dog ownership legalities [Music] however they're illegal as privately owned pets in many states like wyoming illinois louisiana hawaii new hampshire alaska michigan and more number four dalmatian i was pretty shocked to learn that dalmatians are banned and restricted in some countries and i'm sure you are too they just look so sweet and lovely in movies like 101 dalmatians the truth is they're some of the most challenging dogs to own which is perhaps one of the reasons why their ownership is restricted in ukraine dalmatians are stubborn slow learners who don't tend to find repetitive activities for training purposes and exercise such as fetch all that fun they also don't like being alone have a lot of nervous energy to burn off and will scale a six-foot fence just to get to where the humans are while cute when puppies they grow into sassy teenage dogs full of energy and destruction by the time they're about six months old that might be why they often end up in shelters they're simply not a dog you can leave by themselves when you go off to work some vets and welfare society workers sum them up with one word difficult you would say they're beautiful dogs but certainly not those that are highly social or easy to live with i had no idea did you number three husky now to learn that huskies are illegal and restricted in some areas may not come as much of a surprise to you they are beautiful lovely dogs but they are not dogs for first time owners and that is an understatement surprisingly though it's not actually countries that are banning them even though they are restricted in ukraine it's actually insurance companies according to some experts they have high tendencies to bite and they can be incredibly destructive when left alone therefore if they eat your sofa while you're not home your homeowner's insurance may not cover it although they're not alone on the list of blocked animals with insurance companies joining them are wolf hybrids staffordshire bull terriers rottweilers pit bull terriers presa canarios akitas chow chaos doberman pinschers and german shepherds of course not all insurance carriers have blanket bans on payouts for damage and destruction by these breeds but some do the good news is if you're an experienced and responsible owner this won't bother you much you'll likely have a fair idea of how to keep your dog property and others safe number two caucasian of charca the caucasian of charka or caucasian shepherd as it's more commonly known is a fearless loyal and strong-willed dog that is definitely not what you would class as an apartment dog even though they look snuggly and cuddly they're really more suitable for guarding and protection they protect anyone they consider to be their family but will not do the same for visitors and other pets invited or not as you can imagine they are not for first time owners and are better suited to people who will give them a full time job in saying that if you tick that box you do get to benefit from a loyal devoted and caring dog as long as you're willing to put in the work but not everyone is and some countries see these dogs as too much of a risk to allow people to own caucasian shepherds are banned in denmark and might also be severely restricted in italy they're also classed as dangerous in russia and restricted in ukraine and belarus given how few people these dogs suit you aren't able to find many breeders number 1 rhodesian ridgeback rhodesian ridgebacks are large dogs bred in the region of southern africa they're often picked for hunting and guarding and are known for their intelligence loyalty sensitivity and strong will rhodesian ridgebacks are recognized as dangerous in ireland and ukraine but laws are much looser in most other places however even though you may not have any trouble purchasing a rhodesian ridgeback it does pay to do your homework before you do if you don't provide them with patience positive motivation and plenty of constant training they can grow up to be dominant dogs that don't respect your position as leader of the pack in saying that they are very devoted members of people's families and are completely dedicated and loyal they rarely bark and if they do it's because there's something they believe you need to check out if you're going to own a rhodesian ridgeback be prepared to live an active lifestyle because that is exactly what they need you may find that they do well in dog sports so it can be worth looking at such options before inviting one into your home as a dog owner i would own any of these breeds and give them a loving home with all the toys and snuggles unfortunately depending on our locations and experience levels we just aren't able to do that have you owned any of these breeds before what did you think of them also check out our other cool stuff showing up on screen right now see you next time
