animals what's better than an animal how about a friendly animal sure sounds better than a ferocious and hungry animal anyway it's pretty amazing how friendly animals can be towards us especially when you consider how we're not always exactly friendly towards them and while there's a few creatures out there like the hippo and the honey badger that aren't so cuddly with us there are some species which seem to really enjoy human friends from the garbage loving bandit to the biggest rodent in the world here's the 15 friendliest land animals around the world number 15 raccoons raccoons are some smart animals famous for intelligent problem solving see how they got into your trash can even after you tried every damn thing you could think of to keep them out these critters are native to north america and are largely nocturnal even if they are born in captivity they still retain most of their wild traits but that doesn't mean they won't bond with their human friends in fact they can become pretty cuddly and playful but you have to remember that they are wild and will often bite if they are freaked out not to mention that raccoons are in fact predators so they might be into fighting your pets like a kind of masked and furry russell crow taking on a pet raccoon is definitely not for everyone who is looking for the quiet life as they will require a ton of attention and care they love to climb and explore and can never have enough mischief chewing on cords and knocking things onto the floor are some of their favorite hobbies but when they are tired of destroying your home you might just find the cuddliest friend there is before we go on like this video smash the subscribe button and click the notification bell right now or this centipede will crawl on your face when you're sleeping [Music] number 14 capybara you want friendliness the friendliest friendliness of all the friendly things in the world well look no further than the capybara which is just a big ball of good vibes this is a huge wild rodent which grows to about four feet long and while a four foot long rat doesn't sound all that appealing the capybara is a different prospect they are famous for being unbelievably chill and are not only friends with people but with a whole list of other friendly animals including cats birds crocodiles camels and monkeys that's right they are even friendly with crocodiles friendly and then tasty i guess but it's not just about saying hi to other species they are even known to adopt stray animals and allow monkeys to ride around on their backs capybaras are now considered to be a potentially great pet and the craze for them has already begun in japan so far it's only legal in texas and pennsylvania to keep a pet capybara but surely soon everyone is gonna want one number 13. dog well we could hardly have made this list without the loyal dog they are man's best friend after all the first person to ever call them that was frederick the great of persia back in the 18th century and the idea was popularized in a poem by odga nash and there can be no denying it as dogs remain by far the most popular pet in the world [Music] they were among the first species domesticated by humans who had learned to tame wolves and then began to breed those tame wolves for specific traits that made them better suited to living with humans and ironically serving as the best protection against attacks by wolves and other predators these days they can do pretty much anything from seeing for the blind to driving cars they have been hunting to war and on rescue missions with us and are loyal until the end but perhaps their most brilliant trait is their ability to show affection to their master and it is written into their genes scientists have proven many years of selection for gregarious traits has honed the species down so that our relationship with them is mutually important number 12. sheep when you drive through the countryside in some parts of the world you can see little white fluffy clouds dotted all over the landscape and you know that these are sheep farms home to one of the friendliest of all animals these buying undulates just love human company and form incredible bonds with their shepherds sean the sheep wasn't a sheep for nothing you know and speaking of sheep being shorn they may not love the time of year when the clippers come out but it doesn't hurt the sheep at all in fact they are usually pretty relieved to have lost that heavy and hot fleece [Music] they may have a reputation for just doing whatever the next sheep is doing but sheep are emotionally complex animals and surprisingly intelligent they are able to understand human emotions by changes in face shape and can read anxiety in the face of their fellow sheep they are also able to recognize and remember the faces of up to 50 other sheep meaning that they can have a pretty large group of friends let me tell you 50 friends is more people than i can fit into my apartment number 11 giant panda the giant panda is one of the silliest animals in the world and while in the wild these big cuddly bears are probably not quite as cuddly as they look when they have been raised in captivity they are always a favorite with both visitors and their keepers the giant panda is also known as the panda bear and is really a bear that is native to south central china we call them the giant panda to avoid confusion with the red panda which is not actually related to giant pandas these animals are famous for being interested in only one kind of food bamboo but in spite of their plant-based diet they are actually part of the order carnivora and they still have the internal organs of a meat-eater although bamboo makes up 99 of its diet they do sometimes eat other grasses wild tubers or even meat in the form of birds rodents or carrion it is not a widespread animal and lives in a few mountain ranges mainly in shizuon province however human activity has seriously threatened this animal and it now relies on conservation efforts to stop it from going extinct would we want to lose these cuddly friends forever number 10. elephant how about a friendly elephant we all remember dumbo and he was pretty friendly but what about some real elephants well they can be pretty affectionate creatures with one another and sometimes with their human friends elephants use their trunks to express affection and they put their trunks in each other's mouths to try and show how much they love one another although as a human i wouldn't necessarily recommend this with someone you don't know very well especially if you're a dude elephants have some cool other traits that show just how much they care about one another and will often stand over the dead body of one of their loved ones in a kind of mourning for several days and they will come back to the same spot for many years to pay homage to the bones of their lost ones this is a very rare behavior and shows that they have a complex understanding of life and death something which has only been observed in corvids dolphins and great apes aside from elephants and humans obviously number nine cats well as a cat person myself i can say i'm rooting for the world's second most popular pet many people believe that cats are not as friendly as dogs but as any cat owner will tell you this is not the case for sure when a cat has had enough it will head out and do its own thing but just when you're in the mood for some cat time they will stroll up and be ready to lie in your lap praying at just how happy they are to be there plus you will be amazed at how incredibly smart cats can be and full of personality no two cats are quite the same plus they are self-cleaning the friendliest cats are considered to be the orange tabby and the main but then we had a maine as a kid that seemed to think it was a mountain lion so like i said sometimes it depends a lot on the personality of the individual anyway there are so many cats to choose from and the ancient egyptians even worshiped cats as deities get yourself a friendly kitty and you can't go wrong number eight horse horses are another animal we can count as among our oldest and best friends these magnificent beasts were first domesticated around 4000 bc and they are as valuable to us today as at any time in history they have been used to help us in all kinds of tasks over time and today we are still using them as modes of transportation and also in competition where people race or show off their writing skills ride that bronco cowboy in recent times they have taken on a new role as emotional support animals for people showing just how strong the friendship between man and horse really is there are around 300 breeds of horse in the world and they specialize in a wide range of different things they need to drink up to 25 gallons of water per day and can even sleep standing up horses are great readers of body language and can understand all kinds of gestures as long as they are comfortable with people otherwise they will just run away and good luck catching one if they do they're pretty damn fast number seven goat why don't we keep goats in the same way we keep dogs as a best friend around the house or for a walk in the goat park well it's not as crazy an idea as it sounds since research has now shown that goats love human contact just as much as dogs do dogs are considered to be the most domestic animals and this is the reason we love to have them in our homes as part of the family a goat is more familiar in a setting outside of the house in a field but it turns out they are the second most domesticated animals this shouldn't be a surprise since goats are the first creatures that humans formed that special bond with many thousands of years ago when people realized you could tame wild goats and breed them to provide milk much easier than having to chase down a new one every time you wanted a nice cool shake can you imagine how annoying that was since then goats have become some of our best buddies and it seems likely that they will only become closer to us as time goes on number 6. rabbit bunny rabbits had long ago won our hearts with their incredibly cut faces and big ears just check out the big floppy ears on some of these rabbits there are not many animals who are friendlier than rabbits and even though we've pretty often considered them to be a primary source of food they still seem to trust us because we also love them as pets the carrot loving rodents are actually pretty smart and can be trained to use a litter box as well as coming when their name is called the craze for pet rabbits began in the 1800s in england and soon the idea spread all over the world they love to be clean and so one of the most important things for your hopping buddy is to make sure it will have some nice clean sawdust this all makes them some of the best pets in the world and they've got the smarts to keep you busy just ask elmer fudd but remember that a rabbit is a social animal so they won't be happy stuck in a cage alone much preferring to have a rabbit buddy but if you get a boy and a girl just be aware you could end up with more than two rabbits pretty quickly number five koala people love a koala they are australia's most beloved animal and there's nothing visitors to down under want more than to get a snap of a magical moment of koala cuddling however this isn't something you should do in the wild going out and just grabbing a koala from a tree for a photo op is not a great idea as it can be pretty stressful for the koala and there are laws against doing this in every australian state except queensland but if you visit a wildlife park you may find that there's plenty of opportunity to hold a koala who is used to human company and when they get used to it it seems koalas love to cuddle other places will allow you to stroke them gently or maybe just stand next to a tree where they are perched for that all-important insta travel snap of your wild adventures with everyone's favorite bear even though it's not actually a bear but that's another story they are super cute and of course smell just like eucalyptus so you'll leave this encounter feeling fresher than you did when you went into it number four alpaca here's one strange and exotic pet that has been gaining popularity all around the world among pet owners who are looking for that something just a little different they have long been prized for their luxurious coats and have been a prized species among the peoples living in and around the andes mountains of south america for more than six thousand years these are new world camellits and look like a kind of cross between a llama and a camel and they are known to be friendly gentle and curious creatures like most animals alpacas personalities vary from individual to individual these are herd animals though and they much prefer to be in company than alone but that can mean other alpacas from their herd or their human friends who form part of their human heart in south america they are even used in performances sometimes standing in for the donkey in versions of the nativity play as long as they don't use the alpacas to play the virgin mary then who will ever tell the difference number 3 guinea pig guinea pigs are sometimes known as kvs but they're not really pigs at all they are rodents which are native to south america but which have become one of the most successful pets in the world the reason they are so popular is that guinea pigs are extremely social animals and just love to play with humans in fact it is not advised to get just one guinea pig as these critters need around the clock company so it's always better to get a pair so they can keep one another happy another thing worth noting about these animals is that they are not from anywhere near the nation of guinea which couldn't really be much further away from their home near the andes no one really knows why they are called guinea pigs but these pocket pets have been popular in europe since they were first introduced back in the 16th century they are not the most agile creatures but they startle easy and run for cover or freeze one way of knowing if you have a happy guinea pig is if it starts popcorning which is when they do backflips for joy like the dallas cowboy cheerleaders number two bearded dragon so maybe you're the kind of person that doesn't want to admit to having something cute and cuddly in your life like a guinea pig well how about something truly badass like a goddamn dragon you want a literal dragon as a pet we have your back buddy this is the bearded dragon and it is a little smaller than dragons and game of thrones but still owning one of those looks like a lot of work this is a little more 21st century friendly and friendly they are with bearded dragons considered to be the friendliest lizard species of all they can still grow to almost two feet in length and are light brown to reddish in color this is so they can blend in with their natural rocky desert environment but it will work just as well on your brown wallpaper if you live in 1970 and have brown wallpaper these desert dwellers are as you might imagine not fuzzy eaters since it's pretty hard to find food in the desert the bearded dragon eats mostly insects in addition to greens small rodents and even other lizards number one hedgehog hedgehogs are some of the uk's favorite animals there was a brexit potter character named miss tiggy winkle and this inspired the famous hedgehog rescue place hedgehogs like to live in urban environments which means the chances of you seeing one are actually pretty high but this also means that they face a lot of human related dangers such as roads and also their habit of making their homes and bonfires that's a bad place for a home for reasons that are pretty self-evident anyway efforts have been made to educate people on good bonfire practice and also how to feed hedgehogs they also love human contact if they are used to it have you ever seen a hedgehog curl up in a ball just look at their little faces they may seem prickly on the outside but really these are like tiny friendly pokemon they also make little grunting noises which is why they are called hogs they sound a lot like pigs but before this name they were known as urchins and that is why prickly-like sea creatures are called sea urchins what's the friendliest animal you've ever seen did you have a favorite on our list today let us know in the comments below also check out our other cool stuff showing up on screen right now see you next time you
