it can be quite the challenge to design a bedroom that is practical beautiful and calming all at the same time from incorrect Financial layouts to bind the package deal bedroom here at the top biggest design mistakes that will make your bedroom look off if your bed is pushed against multiple walls on a weird angle or cuts of clear walking pots it's going to throw off the look of your room the easiest way to lay it out is surf your bed centered against the wall which you see immediately upon entering not only will it create the basis for a balanced look but will also provide you with the quieter sleeping spot as your bedroom will be in a position that is far away from the door and hallway unfortunately not all of us have the luxury of being able to Center our beds due to small rooms if this is the case try to position them in a way that is not directly in line with the door you may also have no choice but to push your bed into a corner or even against a window this is completely fine in a small bedroom and is much better than forcing the bed in the middle of the room with tables on either side pushing them into the corner allows more space beside it to fit a reasonable chest of drawer or desk and make the space next to the bed feel larger and more open as I touched on before in my biggest intro design mistakes video incorrect Furniture skill is a big issue in most homes and the bedroom is no exception most commonly people purchase beds that are too large and bedside tables are way too small or vice versa this is especially the case when you buy furniture online as it is hard to gauge proportions there's two solutions for this you can either draw a two-scale floor plan of your bedroom or layout masking tape on your floor in the exact measurements of the furniture you plan to buy size down your bed if there's no room for bedside tables or no room to walk around the bed the general rule is that you should leave 30 to 36 inches on either side of your bed people also often get bedside tables to a Too Tall or too low for their bed aim to get one that is at mattress height or slightly taller but refrain from going any higher than three inches above the mattress if possible many people tend to take a one color approach and wonder why the bedroom looks dull and uninteresting laying your bedding with contrasting yet complementary Shades and textures to make your room look cozy and much more Dynamic even a neutral white with beige can make for an interesting combination of course you can always go for monochrome scheme if that is what you specifically want another issue with betting is going overboard with pillows not only will your bed look cluttered but it will also become a massive chore making your bed and positioning all of your cushions each day your pillows will probably end up on your floor most days as there's nowhere else to store them you often see this look at magazines but many of them are specifically styled for the photo shoot for practical day-to-day use while still looking style I like to have two regular pillows on each side of the bed and a maximum of one to two decorative pillows on top it is all about the quality and not quantity the bedroom is supposed to be a spot to relax so having multiple bright out their colors may not be the best choice if you have a bold favorite color combine them with a more muted base so it doesn't feel too overwhelming alternatively choose neutral Shades or calming tones and leave the bolt used for other rooms of your home some heels that work beautifully in the bedrooms include pale Blues greens and grays [Music] prefer darker schemes you can also do charcoal or deep greens with light contrasting furnitures [Music] a lot of people slowly rely on the light fixtures on your ceiling to light the bedroom which is not adequate at all it is important to layer lighting by having all different types ambient task and accent lighting in this way your bedroom lighting will be more flexible you will then have the option for softer ambient lighting at the end of the day for relaxing or lighting with greater intensity depending on the activity and remember to opt for warm lines in your bedroom nothing is worse than having Stark blue lights above you just before going to bed if you think lighting is an issue in your bedroom I have a whole video explaining how to properly light a space which you should check out and I've linked down below in the same strain of thought as poor lighting having incorrect window treatments for your bedroom can be quite an issue especially if they don't block out enough light a really popular window treatment at the moment is having a roller blind with a sheer current over the top this will allow for complete privacy at night and then the sheer curtain will emit a soft diffuse light during the day other great options include shutters and Roman blinds which are very easy to operate or heavy drapery if you want to completely block out natural light getting rid of the Clutter from your bedroom will let your space breathe and be more relaxing built up clutter is usually the issue on bedside tables this is especially the case if your nightstand does not have any form of storage space if you have not bought bedside tables yet try to get one's with drawers for your chargers books and other items other ideas to eliminate clutter is to get roll out under bed storage or to have enough bed storage like a chest of drawers a basket just by the bed may be handy to tuck away pillows or throws for small items you can get catch-all trays so everything is a bit more organized often bedrooms don't have enough PowerPoints or ones in good locations if you're in the process of renovating or building make sure you put quite a few power points in accessible locations if this isn't an option consider getting an extension cord and power board having a power outlet by the bed is really handy when you need to charge your phone or laptop or even just to plug in your table lamps as the bedroom is a private space it can be quite easy to lift the wall spare and totally forget about art while it is probably still a good idea to put your best art in more public areas like your living room there's really no reason why you shouldn't hang up some good pieces in your bedroom as you spend so much time there foreign nothing like personality more than those package deal bedroom furniture sets the ones where you get a bed with the matching bedside table dresser chest of drawers and mirror more often than not they're super large and heavy and feel misplaced in a room they also screamed that you didn't put any thought or consideration into the design of your bedroom curating your own pieces from different shops and locations will always look and feel more interesting homie and personal and give your room a professionally designed look since we spent almost one third of our time in bed high quality bedding is definitely worth the investment pay attention to the quality of your sheets not only will it improve your Decor but will also help you sleep better as well I've also curated some of my favorite bed
