yourself hey didn't I see this video before when you asked the smartest people in the universe Jerry well you wouldn't be totally wrong because we're actually going back to some of our favorite 107 and updating them far everyone I'm Justin with Channel Frederator and it's time to get regular riggityrekt son because we're about to give you 107 facts about Rick and Morty season 1 and away we go Rick and Morty was created by Dan Harmon and Justin roiland the series premiered on December 2nd 2013 the show was renewed for a second season that aired in July 2015 and a third season in July 2017 that's a full two year gap Dan Harmon is known for creating the hit NBC comedy community justin roiland was no stranger to animation before Rick and Morty he was known for his voice acting work and for the animated web series house of cause be you can hear and play everyone's favorite lemon headed Earl on adventure time and speaking of the Earl of Lemongrab is infamous lines unacceptable and the thing the thing now both made it into Rick and Morty you can also hear Justin roiland on Rick and Morty he plays Rick and and Morty Dan Harmon also co-founded channel 101 on monthly short film festival in Los Angeles where all the films and pilots are under just 5 minutes in length Rick and Morty originated as a crude short that Justin roiland created for channel 101 after harmon was approached by adult swim for television show ideas he in royal and worked together to develop the series the original short was actually a parody of the Back to the Future film series titled The Adventures of doc and Marty it featured Doc Brown and Marty McFly when Harmon and Ryland presented it to Adult Swim the characters were then changed into Rick and Morty we're sure you can guess who you do don't look to Rick and Morty for scientific accuracy because the creators do very little research and focus more on storytelling they do look into science and sci-fi to help with episode season 2 was cooler but also more out of control the season 2 episode look who's purging now written by Dan Harmon justin roiland and Ryan Ridley was roylene's favorite episode of the season in season 1 they scrapped a story idea where one of Rick's ex-girlfriends was a hive mind Rick and Morty would be at a space convention in spot one of the six original hive members they try to avoid her but filmmaker screenwriter and actor who was known for his body of horror films closer encounters of the rick kind is the highest-rated episode of the very first season king jellybean has also appeared in a short that Justin really made for channel 101 he's crumbly crumpled Stein the host of the show unbelievable tales king jellybean was voiced by Tom Kenny who also voices spongebob and Ice King the name of the shop and something Rick this way comes is needful things and is a reference to the store in the Stephen King novel of the same name in close Rick counters of the Rick kind one of Rick's memories of Morty is picking him up as a child which is actually kind of interesting to note because rick has been absent from his family for like twenty years when he's insulting the devil's products and something Rick this way comes Rick references the twilight zone jerry has an antique coin collection that replaces George Washington with r2d2 he claims that Beth hates him because he bought them stated which dimension it was that they escaped to and are currently in the council of ricks and the episode closer encounters of the rick kind is a parody of marvel's council of reeds more than the frequent burping Adult Swim was concerned with how many times rick says Morty's name in the episode risky business the song that plays at the end of the episode is titled booty bass shake that ass can
