hello beach friends last week we visited kai's island but we stopped about halfway through our beach walk so today we're gonna finish that walk and see what other fantastic finds i discovered on this uninhabited island if you haven't watched part one yet you can check out the link in the upper right corner but for those of you who are ready to finish our walk let's set the scene so we're on kais island and i got here using florida adventures and rentals i'll put a link in the description box below if you want to get in touch with them at this point the tide is going out and we've already found more lace murixes and colorful moon snails that i ever thought possible in one beach visit right now i'm admiring this insane shell pile that the tides have pushed back onto the island and i'm going to continue exploring the island searching for beach treasures so if you're ready to see a little more island and a lot more shells let's go to the beach [Applause] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay so here we are at kai's island i've already done a whole bunch of shelling and i just want to let you know that this is not typical what's going on here today this is more like hurricane shelling like crazy insane shelling so this is by no means normal i am finding tons of fantastic stuff maybe because i'm on an island so here's another shot of kais i was dropped off over on the north end and we're walking down the beach at this point so the first treasure we're gonna find on the rest of our walk is this little horse complete with a little beach stuff that picks off super duper easy just kind of flicks right off so here we have a lovely little bright orange horse conch happy little shell looks like i spied something else there were shells everywhere okay a lace mirrors i've already picked up about a billion of them so here's a lace mirror oh it's so lacy yeah that's a pretty shell and a banded tulip complete with little chip marks that's normally how i find them and another lace oh this little frills and a little pink top oh it's gorgeous another little lace mirrors and a lightning look you'll notice the opening is on the left different from the other shells so that is a nice looking lightning welcome oh and here's a paper fig now these look a little bit like the pear whelks but you can see on top it's very flat kind of has that spiral and they're very thin so they're a ridge shell they're very thin that is a paper fig this is another banded tulip and that is an angel wing so i it doesn't every time i bend down i'm coming up with like a couple of shells all right maybe not every time here we have a base scallop nice looking shell looks like i got a little grabby for a lightning whelk all right cool oh yeah it was awesome there's shells everywhere i decided to really get down there and that spiny look at that spidey jewel box totally missed it i missed so many shells right there we have a banded tulip and what else do i spy all right there's a gaudy nautica a little bit more beat up oh nice big nutmeg complete with a drill hole awesome all right here's another gaudy a little purple on the inside oh it's beautiful really cool colorful moon snail and another lace murics now typically i would be happy if i found one seriously and today i found literally over 30. it was crazy another beautiful lace merc murex now this colorful wound snail has a funky coloring and i have found shells like that before and i really wasn't sure if it was a shark eye or a gaudy nautica but now i'm thinking gottinoka and here is a chestnut turban that is missing a little bit of the top but now you can kind of see the exposed naked that's kind of neat neat beaded shell another gaudy nautica oh the color is fantastic it is a little chipped a little imperfect but the color is so nice definitely going to keep that oh got a couple of goodies here that is a lace mirex and another lightning well that guy's a little bit chewed up that's all right what do we got an apple mirex with a bunch of green on it no problem for the bleach beautiful oh now this one was weird because it has the shape of a ribbed cantharis but it's totally the wrong color completely wrong color but i'm still thinking that that is a ribbed cantorus and here we have another lightning milk no it's all good to keep it was full of sand so nobody's home always make sure to check your shelves are empty before you take them home and a hinged spiny jewel box now that's really fun i don't find them hinged all the time super cool hinged spiny jewel box just kind of creeping around and guys there were shells i know i'm gonna have to try to stop saying it over and over but there were just shells everywhere now the tide is going out so probably get in the water a little bit there is another very discolored gaudy nautica oh and a bright orange calico scallop very nice love that orange so the water is right there and then this fresh shell line and a lettered olive gorgeous shiny lettered olive oh and a cone yay oh oh oh it's beat up it's got a whole yeah we had an olive this beautiful olive and another now i want to show you it's shiny it's dry but it's still shiny so pretty and another lightning milk an olive and a lightening milk and another another little lightning look at least the lightning welcomes regardless of what size they are they always look the same like they have the right coloring beautiful dark lettered olive nice mmm on there very cool oh we got a couple of goodies here all right this is a lace mirror and an apple mirror x another lightning milk i it was such a great day for shelling all right here's another lace really lacy nice and big i'm definitely gonna have to spend some time cleaning that guy up but i'm gonna keep it another little lace with a pink top oh very sandy now we see it there we go all right it's not quite as lazy as some of the other ones but still real pretty love that little pink top man all right that one's a little chewed up probably not gonna keep it because i found like a billion of them so yeah we'll just leave that maybe somebody else will appreciate that oh guess what okay guess what kind that is whether that is a banded or a true tulip if you watched the episode last week you might have a better idea this one has a little bit of ridges to it so that is a true tulip even though it's got those lines on it it is still a true tulip and that is a lightening milk complete with real pretty dark coloring even on the aperture there very cool a true tulip and a lightening welcome all right oh man beautiful banded tulip gorgeous and an apple muric's i'm telling you this was this is not typical this was just outstanding shelling that is a banded tulip it was absolutely crazy so it's one of those things meant shelling there's a lot of luck involved and you can you know try to pick the right time the right day watch the tides we just got lucky and look what's behind me i mean there's just i wouldn't say an acre that's awful big but a lot there were a lot of shells here but i am doing like i said pretty good closer to the water and the fresh rack line so i'm probably gonna stick down there but i just wanted to creep around here a little bit and show you guys that this island was unbelievable tons of fantastic goodies and here is another chipped banded tulip but that's okay they're still not easy to find typically so i'm probably going to keep that this is a juvenile florida fighting conch they are not as heavy as the adult so i'm going to keep that one the adult ones the florida finding are heavy so there's the beach and look at this pile it was awesome all right there's another lightning well oh there's so many shells i missed it drove me crazy but it is what it is what are you gonna do and there's no garbage you see that that crate there and we're gonna talk about garbage in just a second which is a bummer because we are on an island and they were just shells in the water shells all over the beach it was really really fun but no guarantee that if you come back here it's going to be like this just one of those things like i got really lucky oh all right that is a base scallop beautiful big base scallop and a nutmeg man the color on that is fabulous fabulous dark little nutmeg all right what do we got another one and it's really dark too oh and real pointy beautiful beautiful nutmeg i'm still creeping around in the water oh another oh yay another hinged spiny jewel box a little bit of spikes on there awesome very very cool and another base scallop it looks like i'm poking around in the water to see if there's anything i can uncover it's kind of rooting around all banded tulip intact awesome another juvenile florida fighting conch i have a thing with them i can't help myself love them so i did do a little scooping i know i scooped with this one and i got this just blind just plain old scoop and got this beautiful big banded tulip awesome as i was looking around saw this one but i decided that that's a little chipped keep that one but i spied something else all right that is a another little lace mirex awesome my broke my scooper i know it was time well it was it was kind of rusty and i broke it and the worst part was there's no garbage on the island so i had to haul it around with me and actually my husband repaired it so it's not quite out of commission i'll have to do a little bit a little bit of work to it but no more scooping for me today just kind of looking around what do i see all right florida fighting conchs oh speaking of conchs here's a little horse conch beautiful bright orange horse conch oh a twofer two beautiful bright orange horse conks awesome oh now this olive was just stunning because it has like those vertical stripes on it in addition to all the other markings that are going on yeah i just thought that that was super pretty really cool and this is a calico scallop with outstanding color those bright orange streaks in it really really pretty well this little lightning walk hiding from me i'm gonna go ahead and add that to my collection okay so we've been doing a lot of shelling and i just want to give you if you decide to do something like this just be prepared have your phone fully charged keep your eye on the weather wear shoes look at the way that this island looks there's just little things sticking up all over the place bring water bring snacks i spent a little over four hours on the island so just be prepared if you decide to do something like this banded tulip and another banded tulip very nice a little bit of beach stuff on it no problem oh another gaudy nautica also known as a colorful moon snail fantastic real pretty color on that and another banded tulip put some stuff on it but you know what i know i found a whole bunch but it's not really not that common for me so just in case i don't know when i'm going to find my next banded tulip that is a lovely lettered olive nice oh looks like i got grabby what did i grab all right looks like i was going for the muric's because clearly i don't have enough today got a little auger and a banded tulip so there was weather the it was a 50 chance of rain in the morning went out to the island anyway been super duper lucky right now it is a little after 12 the boat's coming to pick me up at 1 30 so i have a little bit of time hoping the weather holds off and another hinged jewel box awesome totally cool i like those shells anyway but to find them hinged really really cool and that is a little another juvenile florida fighting conch this sweet little shell and a banded tulip now that is definitely a candidate for some acid i bet you that will clean up really really nice a banded tulip and what do we got here oh another spiny jewel box and it's hinged and guess what it's beach time i'm gonna be quiet enjoy some beach okay now i was actually walking the other direction because i didn't want those buildings in the background for your beach time so just to let you know why i'm kind of like changing directions and everything so back headed toward where the boat will pick me up and gonna keep on looking for shells the whole time what do i spy another lightning milk very sandy lightning well kind of whack some of that sand out all right hey lightning walk oh man oh all right chubby little apple mirex awesome and another banded tulip crazy and to think i had already passed on this part of the beach and the shells they're still here awesome and now on the bottom is the lace mirrors and on top we have yet another banded tulip and another crazy awesome shelling day and another gotti nautica looks like i spied a little bit of purple on the inside very pretty very very cool and a cone a florida cone let's take a look ooh nice color nice pointy top very very very cool ah oh that's gorgeous look at the color on that yeah i'm gonna need to do some work on that nothing a dental pick can't take care of a little bit of scrubbing too oh beautiful lace mirrors here we go a spidey jewel box that is awesome awesome pink and white spiny jewel box so there you see some weather coming in and as it turned out i didn't get rained on for about 10 minutes or so it wasn't so bad it was really more of a drizzle and i did bring an umbrella so i was all set no big deal just kind of hang out in the drizzle for a couple of minutes waiting for the boat figured hey while we're over here might as well poke around and got myself another lightning welcome so that's it keis thank you you were amazing i had the best time it was so fun and you know what this is this is called lucky because that is where i was i'm back on land at this point at the marina and that is the weather coming in so i feel like i just missed it and this is the ridiculous amount of shells that i found and brought home we'll start off got a whole bunch of gorgeous lightening wheels found a bunch of parallels that was last week and then let's see we got spiny jewel boxes a couple of top snails we got a couple of juvenile florida fighting kongs some olives some apple murics on the bottom above that are the lace murics got a bunch of colorful scallops there in the corner tons of banded tulips now let's just take a look at the banded tulips for two seconds because those are all the banded tulips and i got two true tulips so the true tulips are much much more rare than the banded tulips but i did manage to get two yay okay glady nautica's a bunch of cones bunch of florida horse conks it was ridiculous this is an obscene amount of shells it was amazing and i did clean up two so i wanted to show you this was one that i kind of picked most of the stuff off i could probably pick a little bit more look at that gorgeous purple on the inside oh and it's so frilly just a beautiful lace mirror and then this guy after i dipped it and acid kind of revealed that rust color it's beautiful little pink top so that was just two little shells that i decided to share with you that i took a bunch of time believe me it took me hours to clean everything so guys thank you thank you patreons for supporting me you guys are the best and everybody else i love you too thank you so much for all your comments following me on social media for being you you guys are amazing next week we're going to sanibel and we're going to see some stuff that we've never seen before so it's going to be pretty fun i hope you have a great week and i'll see you again next sunday
