girls think that they can't do it boys can do sometimes they can do anything that boys can do she is all the generation of female skateboarders that really represent a big public skate wing she could redefine the whole sport this way we look at both surfing and skateboarding she's way ahead in all the really technical things I think she's going to draw lines and do the next level of everything and it's so cool at such a young age and I don't think anybody's telling her things that she can't do which is really exciting my name is Skye rad and I'm 10 and I like to skate answer [Applause] [Music] yeah my favorite skatepark Venice the first time I stayed here I was like 2 or 3 skating maybe more graves and like more strong it's right next to the beach so when I skate I can hear the ocean it just makes me feel free and like I can do anything [Music] it's super fun skiing with my brother I can get to follow each other we both do different tricks from side air backside air so she just snake I'm super fun you can go super hot and do these cool tricks on it I like it because it feels like and touching the sky we just love skating it just makes you a happier one a stimulation well my normal day and wake up in the morning while it's still dark let's go and get breakfast yeah like this there cuz it turns the melted chocolate and I love chocolate milk after cereal we normally go surfing [Music] my name is Pat O'Connell I've actually been a pro surfer for probably thirty years I think the ways are gonna be good yeah they're gonna be really big for you okay we have a little strategy out here you ready yeah think of it this way the more waves we catch the better okay we're gonna have a lot of fun all right let's go the oceans always changing you know you may be out for an hour and only get six waves but as you get older it goes from six waves to ten waves to twenty waves and that's for progression just kind of goes through the roof she'll go from riding the waves that are this big to this big and bigger I feel like it was open just going fast doing turns and just riding through it the hardest trick was probably like a jump pop it's a thing yeah while I just love the feeling when you make it it just makes you feel so happy and you want to do it again the ocean is very natural for her when she serves she knows how to read the waves that's an old soul thing so fingers my brother is super fun they're like best friends it's so cool it's just such a neat dynamic never stop sort of harassing each other as brothers and sisters should Duke they're gonna have these crazy fun experiences their whole life together what a bond what's your favorite thing about the surfboard did you have now well I like it super light and it's super fun that's the coolest thing most kids are riding sort of hand-me-down boards people like sky though she needs something that actually works for her that's more fit for her to actually get something that's really built for performance where most kids are sort of riding her dad's board the big you know he's not riding anymore it makes such a difference in the water if you have a great board under your feet every condition every day is a little bit extra fun a lot of times then you have people who are crossing over sports a sport the fact that she's able to go from surfing to skating and back will always keep this interaction really interesting something that you don't often see in younger skaters or someone else can solve a pretty distinctive style in the way she skated like you see a lot of younger people and they're all flipping around and they're doing technically what they want to do but doesn't necessarily look right but sky was interesting very early on she looks good on her board lacy look my name is Bob Boyle I've been here at dwindle now since 2005 skateboarding is an individual thing but it's also being part of a group and I think that's always fun you're not trying to necessarily one-up each other but you're there to push each other to everyone's individual limits I did get some pretty bad oh my gosh that's not gonna stop me keep going to get that trick and when I'm done I can you've gotta try hard put yourself out there have fun and just get that chick I feel like healthy diet is really important so I can have a lot of energy I like to say this tastes really good and it keeps you healthy and strong I've always been drinking milk since I was a baby this guy writes for almost we do have a board that we've made in conjunction with her it's supporting a really good cause a nonprofit organization called Skateistan they're doing really meaningful things for youth around the world and specifically a lot of young women who don't have opportunities for education or access to a safe space and I encourage anyone to go and do your research on Skateistan we've raised over $16,000 just with the first dropper boards and that's that's done I don't get much chance as to skate with scales and when I skate with girls I just like to have fun I mean I don't know what the stats all I don't know if it's 10% or 20% or 30% of those after skateboarders around the world or women but the numbers definitely getting up they know when you used to see crews of guys around nice Aegis Cruiser picky I want to be like the best that's gaining and surfing the most important bit just to have fun
