Nature’s crazy, I love it! I’m surprised the ocean feeding frenzy didn’t get added to this list. Probably my favorite bit of nature bbc has caught https://youtu.be/6zOarcL1BSc

[Music] the hardest part of becoming independent is leaving whom the emperor penguin chicks are about to take the biggest step in their young lives left alone by their once doting parents they must leave their icy birthplace and make their way to the sea every test they face whose skills they'll need later in life but one challenge stops them in our tracks a giant petrel they try to flee but running isn't an emperor strongpoint a slip is all the petrel needs the chip is grabbed by his neck feathers but the diamond just falls away they form a defensive circle and prepare to stand their ground despite their check light appearance they are close to a meet our toll quite a size even for a giant petrel the chick towers to fool height protecting those behind his defiance by his time it's a standoff then as if from nowhere and Adelie the feistiest penguin in the world he fearlessly puts himself between the chicks and the petrol even petrels don't mess with the delis the plucky rescuer accompanies the chicks to the sea emperor cam is there to see them on their way but entering the water is a daunting prospect having an adult around must be reassuring even if it is a spy the Adelie seems to be waiting for something to another penguin cam is also ready to see them go instead other penguins start to arrive [Music] more the delis there rescuer was just a front-runner [Music] some it's time to retreat but now it's back to square one there's no alternative but to run the gauntlet once again the seal seems to be toying with this penguin but safety is in sight the ice floe is near the open ocean but this penguin is exhausted [Music] [Applause] perhaps it's not worth it after all a European ham stuffed [Music] wild hamsters are found in grasslands throughout Central Europe here in the city they're doing extremely well this male is on a mission to find food the coast looks clear [Music] but best not take any chances the trick is to get in and out before your court and now desert temple wax it's full of oil and high in calories [Music] the hamsters cheeks can hold a quarter of its body weight just one more mouthful oh dear big chinks and narrow bottlenecks are very embarrassing [Music] mission accomplished what bird has the most elaborate the most complex beautiful song well I guess that lots of contenders but this bird must be one of them the superb he clears her space in the forest to service his concert platform to persuade females the cantos and admire his plumes he sings the most complex song he can manage and he does that by copying the songs of all the other birds he years around him such as the kookaburra it's a very convincing impersonation he can imitate the cause of at least 20 different species he also in his attempt to axing his rivals incorporates other signs that he hears him the forest that was a camera front and again and now a camera with a motor drive and it's a pea rain and now the sound gave foresters and their chainsaws working nearby hermit crabs use abandoned seashells as mobile homes as a crab grows its shell becomes an ever tighter fit so eventually a crab needs to move in to a bigger one suitable empty shells are few and far between and this one is far too spacious for this crab but instead of continuing its search this small crab settles down to wait [Music] other crabs also looking to upgrade to a bigger home soon gather whenever a shell washes ashore unfortunately the new shell is too big for them to despite that the gathering crabs begin to measure each other up and then they do something really rather extraordinary they arrange themselves into an orderly queue the biggest of the front smallest at the back they're lining up with one aim to exchange properties but none of the crabs can make a move because the chain is not yet complete they're all waiting for the right-sized crab to come along and this is it [Music] the latest arrival pushes to the head of the queue at first the chain falls apart as it reforms a small crab finally makes its move and takes its place at the end of the line after a close inspection the big crab moves in this triggers a chain reaction each crab hurriedly moves into the shell vacated by the crab ahead of it in the line just as the small crab attempts to move into its new home the fresh arrival muscles in [Music] to be left without a shell is a death sentence a naked crab will quickly cook under the intense tropical Sun [Music] but after all the swapping there is still one shell left sadly it's no bigger than this small crabs original shell and worse it's got a hole in it [Music] but even a bad shell is better than being homeless [Music] mantids will eat anything that moves including other mountains [Music] time to leave this tiny insect is now open to attack from predators lurking in the undergrowth whether an individual mantis survives or not is partly a matter of chance whether it's spotted by a predator [Music] whether it turns right or left so far its luck is held but this hungry jumping spider is still in pursuit a mantis is born with exceptional eyesight but the spiders is even better although this young mantis can't yet fly its long forelegs evolved to catch prey give it reach [Music] [Music] there seems to be no escape [Music] but this mantis has a surprising line in self-defense kungfu praying mantis style [Music] of course it's all Bluff trying to look bigger and confuse its enemy [Music] but it's got away with it [Music] just staying alive for its first su hours is a significant accomplishment for a newly hatched insects but there's still a long way to go with a bit of luck in two months time it will be as big and beautiful as this orchid Mantid [Music] or maybe not after all mantids are cannibals this beam is coming right up to me unfortunately it ignores the seals breathing hole and heads straight for me she's enormous really it's why I've come here to see these animals to get to understand them see them up close hey there oh my god yeah hey there the Bears nose is thousands of times more powerful than mine it's gathering information before it approaches like it would when stalking a seal my scent is strongest at the weakest point the door it's systematically trying from all angles appreciation for what this animal is is one of the most powerful animals on the planet one of the most intimidating animals on the planet one of the few animals that actually see us as food the Bears nose has laid it to a gap you can sniff me go I could have actually touched his nose fanbases flexing right through it's gonna baby in yeah I can feel oh not sure if I like that not sure if that's good our best bet would be to get our full weight on top of it just like she does when she's making into seal layers and push okay don't go on top on top stain juris like it's just toning above me if I was to be standing side by side with this animal never be about seven feet tall maybe every time she pushes every time she exerts a little bit of force use it using up Karlie's is there anything what's eating here is there anything what using up energy for inside the rest definitely me once it realizes it's too difficult to get in the polar bear moves off I'm definitely at this point my fear far away is my fascination this is closer to polar bear than I ever ever imagined that I forget I thought something you don't want to do again in honey definitely law [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] a snake's eyes aren't very good but they can detect movement so if the hatchling keeps its nerve it may just avoid detection [Music] a near miraculous escape as they mature young males begin to explore the boundaries of the prides territory red has ventured out alone and London straight into the middle of the hyena clan [Music] he's trapped by over 20 of them tries to wear him down this number of hyenas could kill him [Music] [Music] it's impossible to fight the devil at once [Music] [Music] this Ally tattoo has heard the commotion [Music] [Music] [Music] now the odds have changed even for 20 hyenas a pair of melons is too much to take on edge is lucky [Music]
