- Today! 10 huge saving secrets to save you big at Target. These are the secret clearance deals. Hey guys, I'm the deal guy, Matt Granite. Welcome back to the channel, I am here to help ya save money on everything, and today well the focus is Target. I'm gonna take you into some of the employee only knowin' data that I'm going to share with you, and then also some tricks to make sure you are always saving more than any other shopper, behind you in line or online, if you're shopping on Target dot com. I was gonna wear a red shirt today but I figured that Target's probably not gonna like this video, so I just wore blue. All available on Matts Daily Deals dot com. So when we're shopping at Target, you may have your own schedule but saving secret number one is know that Target follows one of the most rigid markdown schedules of any retailer. It's not like someone just goes through the aisle deciding what they're going to mark down, Target takes a look at what hasn't sold online, they follow a very regimented clearance schedule, and it's as follows. On Monday's Target marks down it's electronics, accessories, kid clothing, books, baby items, and stationary. Tuesday they markdown any of the domestics, women clothing, pet products, as well as food items throughout the store. And then on Wednesday, well it's all about home furnishings, clothing, health, beauty products, and diapers are marked down separately, keep in mind the baby items as a whole are on Monday but the diapers are dropped in price on Wednesday. That leads to some confusion. Thursday we generally see markdowns on lingerie, sporting goods, luggage deals are on Thursday as well. And Friday the best clearance deals are generally auto, hardware, and jewelry. That means if you are shopping on the weekend, you're not actually picking a great day to shop, you're getting the leftovers from all of those respective days. So for example, if the electronics are marked down on Monday and you're shopping on the weekend you're getting the worst of the leftover from that category before Target returns to add more items to its new clearance set of deals on the Monday. Sunday would probably be the worst day of the week for that respective category. So keep that in mind, work with that calendar. Savings secret number two is I'm going to show you the most important number on the tag, and it's the number in the top right-hand corner, not the price. Why is this so important? Well if you look at all of the things that people have circled, this number represents the markdown of the specific product that you're looking at. This tag right here that has a 50 is letting you know that your item has been marked down by 50 percent. This one is letting you know that your product has been marked down by 70 percent. And you may say, well who cares? Why does that matter? I don't need to do math, it's a markdown. And the advice I'm dispensing is many of the items are supposed to be reduced to a specific price but there are many arithmetic errors. Target may intend to mark an item down by 70 percent and based on that price that you see in the top right-hand corner of your tag that's supposed to be a 70 percent markdown, but if you look at the before and the after price they don't always correlate. Target's not trying to deceive you, they're not trying to do anything wrong, there's just a lot of mathematical errors that are passed along to the consumers. Sometimes the list price is wrong from the manufacturer, that MSRP, but regardless, watch out for that number on the top right-hand corner of the tag. Those are the ones that you need to pay attention to. The next trick I'm going to show you is savings secret number three, and this is about a numbers game of a different type. Just because everything on clearance or markdown has a specific reduction, how do you know if you're actually getting the lowest, best price that Target has to offer. Let's take a look at their web pricing just as an example. Generally any item that ends in zero zero is full price. So if you see a product that ends in zero zero or nine nine, you are generally paying full price for the product. Now yo might say to yourself, well that doesn't make sense when I go online and I shop I see plenty of items that show up as 19.99 or end in a zero and they are on sale. What I'm trying to tell you is yeah they're reduced but they're not clearance deals. So keep in mind that if you are trying to shop clearance there's a whole deal section which can still have you paying "full price" at Target. It's not solely the deals we want it's the clearance section and those clearance deals that we need to know about. So here's where the rest of the numbers come into play. Prices that end in eight eight, nine eight, four eight, two four, or oh four, are all clearance items. Items that end in four nine and four four are generally final clearance products. So if you see something like a four nine or a four four, those are generally clearance products. You're gonna find many different Target blogs, and Target vlogs, and Target YouTube videos that give you slightly different information. And I've tried to figure out, how is this possible? Is this information outdated? Are different communities seeing different reductions? I've spoken to some different Target employees, I've telephoned different stores. And the answer is that this is an updated set of numbers that I'm imparting with you right now. It can change but based on everything that happened in the communities over the course of the last couple months, a lot of those pricing structures that we see are being adjusted. People are now generally always looking for a deal and always looking for a sale, so things are going to be permanently reduced but not always on clearance. So that's what you need to know when it comes to those markdowns. Also keep in mind, and this is information that I've just received from a former employee, the best clearance deals are in the electronics, toy, clothing, shoes, and home goods sections for this upcoming season. So that's where you're going to find some great deals as your saving secret number four. Saving secret number five. Beyond the refurbished, and the used, and the clearance, there's something else that Target marks down regularly in their stores and its called a repackaged deal. So I've just again tried to pull up some repackaged items, I haven't purchased one recently but if you look this is an example of a repackaged tag. This says repackaged right here. And these are all deals that are generally exclusive to a specific store and some of the best reductions you will see in that specific place. How do these exist, why do these exist? Sometimes items are dented when they're being moved within the store itself, and sometimes there's been an issue in the distribution with the truck. Sometimes packages are removed in bad weather, something stains or smears with rain, there's spills, there's things that get marked up significantly while the item inside is in no way affected. So Target will repackage a lot of these items or sometimes adjust the packaging, I've actually seen tape used in a couple of occasions while some type of glue. But for a lot of the deals you're going to find it is well worth it, so look for that yellow or sometimes red repackage tag is saving secret number five. Saving secret number six, and I'll go more in depth tied to this when the holidays approach. Target follows a completely different discount schedule after Christmas and the holidays. So in the days that follow Christmas rather than marking down specific items from specific categories like we saw in that days of the week tip that I was giving you earlier on, Target simply takes a full percentage off each day. So the day after Christmas our markdowns begin at 50 percent then all of the categories that are being reduced see a 75 percent collective reduction and it goes all the way from 75 percent generally to 90 percent by day three and day five. What does that matter to you? Well if you see something that has the 90 percent markdown on it, that's generally the lowest a product will ever be sold for at Target. So that is saving secret number six. Saving secret number seven is don't worry about getting a circular everything you can find is online complete with coupons. If you go to a specific URL, which I'll be happy to share with you on my website if I'm moving too quickly for you, you're not only gonna find all of the weekly ads there but Target will also include coupons. So if you don't want to do the coupon clip, you can add these on to your cell phone screen or your smartphone screen, you can do a quick screen grab and Target will accept the coupons. Keep in mind that when you are searching through a catalog, the reductions and the sales are good but every once in a while if you look very carefully you're gonna find actual coupons that have a barcode. So you've two ways to implement this, you can actually find this in the Target app and apply it to your smartphone or you can take a screen grab Target will accept manufacturer coupons. And in some cases they will accept coupons from competitors. Savings secret number eight. Don't feel overly pressured to get the Target RedCard, yes you're gonna save five percent more everyday in store online but if you look there are restrictions not every product gets the discount and with how many products are reduced you're often going to find Walmart or Amazon going within five percent of that deal or final sale item that you see at Target. So appeal to the customer service department for a price match. Often you're going to find if that price is cheaper at Walmart but you simply prefer to give Target the business they will reduce it five percent more and you don't need to worry about a credit card application if that's not something you can do right now. Saving secret number nine, you can get a rain check on awesome deals that have sold out in a specific store. This doesn't always work for Black Friday or Cyber Monday but we'll look at those as isolated times. Let's say there's an amazing holiday deal on the Nintendo Switch and you're so excited, you've waited, you go, this is where you're gonna spend your money and then you find out that specific product is not available in the store but that huge Nintendo Switch sale of 30 percent off or whatever it is ends the next day. Well here's the good thing, almost every Target store I spoke to will honor its deal beyond the deadline for rain check items, which means if the product is not available in the store they will still give it to you as soon as in stock and available at that deal price. That's great for non Black Friday and Cyber Monday exclusive TV discounts, and gaming and all sorts of deals that you may not be able to pass up right now especially if times are tough as they are for all of us I'm assuming in some way, get that rain check and don't feel pressured to be at that exact store nor should you worry about driving all over the city to find another Target that has that specific product in stock. And finally saving secret number 10, you can save yourself a whole lotta time browsing and searching for deals on Target dot com if you simply know what word to enter to get the discount started. Type in the word clearance to the search bar at the top of Target dot com and it immediately launches every single deal for its respective category of clearance. So rather that just going to the clearance section at the top of the page, rather than just looking through the home section hoping to find something on sale, you never need to pay full price. Shoes as an example, one of my least favorite categories in life, you just simply go to the shoe section all of a sudden everything there is already on sale. If you're looking to find home clearance section products as an example, not only do you get a whole home section on clearance but you can further narrow it down for example bedding which a lot of people are buying right now, everything here would be at its lowest price including these pillow case sets for as low as three dollars and 49 cents. You do not need to spend all of your precious time going through circulars and ads, and trying to find the best price if you are shopping on Target dot com with that quick trick. So I hope all of these tricks added up, saved ya a lot of money, I hope your money stays where it belongs, and that's in your pocket.
