Hey everyone! And welcome once again to my channel. I am Liz and I am an Australian who accidentally fell in love with Serbia and the Serbian language! This is my third month learning the Serbian language And I thought it would be a good idea if I share why Serbian is the best... language in the world! I'm serious. Why Serbian is better than English but you know, I'm not a teacher... I'm nothing, just a crazy girl who loves to learn Serbian. I don't know why... Who is this? And... I don't have anything else to say... Ok! Let's go! Diminutives If I have something and make it smaller... For example... Fish Little fish Soup Little Soup Cookie Little cookie Cat Kitty A tiny exception... We have a similar thing in English Dog Doggie Cat Kitty But I think, in Serbian, it sounds better and cuter :3 Serbian is a very efficient language for Future tense, you have two options I will give OR I will give Ahh... this language... And this is not all! For every sentence, you have lots and lots of options than just one I will give it to you, I will give it to you I will give it to you I will give it to you OR I will give it to you This trick, doesn't work in English I will give it to you Give will it to you To you will it to give Give will to you it Give will to you it Doesn't make sense... Serbian is the best Foreigners always complain about cases but with cases, the meaning is in the words You know what the subject is, what the object is About whom? About what? With who? With what? Everything is in the end of the word You have more flexibility with the language I have an example... She gave the book to her You know that every sentence has 2 or 3 options... Second option! She gave the book to her *explosion sound effects* How? "Dala" is in past tense and we know that the subject is a woman because of the ending "joj" is the indirect object and with indirect objects we use the Dative case "je" is the verb enclitic and finally we have "Book" and "the book" is, obviously the direct object! And with direct objects, we use the Accusative case! The meaning is connected with every word in English, we can not use the same thing, unfortunately and of course, Serbian is the best once again ingenious... Write as you speak Read as it is written. Every letter has one sound it makes sense... and Serbian is like that 30 letters have 30 sounds But in English we have... 26 letters and... 44 sounds... I don't need to explain why Serbian is better than English in this situation... I don't need to use pronouns if I don't want to "To run" for example, "Ja trčim" "Ti trčiš", "On, Ona trči", "Mi trčimo", "Vi trčite" "Oni, One trče" People know who you're talking about Because of the verb Every "person" has only one ending This is unique to every pronoun But in English, without pronouns... it would be... Am running, are running, is running are running, are running, are running. Catastrophic... If I'd like to speak Serbian, I only need 5 verb conjugations Past Perfect, Present, Future 1, Potential and imperative. and the rest we learn when we are at the highest level How many does English have? 17... 4 options for present, future past and conditional and imperative But imperative only has one I don't know how people learn English "Svoj"! "Svoj" means "my own", "your own" "his/her own" "our own", "their own" in one word!!! Just one word for everything! This word is one of two words that have the same type that is called, "possessive pronoun of each person" We use "svoj" like like a possessive pronoun if I say, "Liz holds her own (svoju) "bag" People know this bag belongs to Liz "Svoj" is connected to the pronoun before and it is special because we don't have something like this in English "Svoj" is very directive And this word is automatic I hurt my d$%k (sorry doesn't translate well) I love that women AND men can use it I don't have a d$%k but I can still use it I hurt my d$%k! Beautiful language :') and Serbians are really creative with their swearing I found something very interesting on the internet One gentleman had said... F%$k you and your cart full of corn, grain by grain Something like this doesn't exist in English Not possible! This isn't a sentence... This isn't a swear word... This is art... And this is everything! Serbian is a very passionate, efficient powerful and honest. I find that in English we like to sugarcoat a lot of things but in Serbian you don't get the sugar You get exactly what you've asked for in the way that you've asked for it sugar is going to give me diabetes I don't want that! See you soon and bye!
