a few months ago i decided to grab a camera and start filming my wife's beautiful furniture flips and in this video we're going to take a look back at 10 of our favorite flips so whether you're new to mineral paint i couldn't find the exact color i wanted so i ended up mixing two colors in a 50 50 ratio [Music] now 99 of the time i will tell you to prime your furniture but since this paint bonds so well and i wasn't really worried about tanning bleed through since this is a solid maple dresser i was able to skip the priming i did go ahead and spray a primer on the areas where i had sanded down to the bare wood just to give better coverage there [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] fusion mineral paint also has a built-in top coat so unless i'm using it on something like a table top or something that's going to be getting a lot of wear and tear i don't worry about the top coat either so i applied three good coats and ended up with a durable beautiful finish [Music] this [Music] [Music] oh [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] um what's up [Music] box [Music] oh [Music] so [Music] unfortunately right after i finished painting this piece we went inside to let it dry and then looked out the window and noticed that it started to drizzle most of the dresser had already dried and was actually pretty fine but there were a few areas where the paint was still wet and you could definitely tell that they needed some help i sanded down what i could on all the flat surfaces just to give a smooth finish before i repainted and then in the more detailed areas where i couldn't get the sander i did what i could by hand but then i used a spray can of filler primer that really helped [Music] [Applause] [Music] so [Music] then i went ahead and resprayed my paint this time with no chance of rain in the forecast and then followed up with two coats of top coat [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] me [Music] ah [Music] yes it's like people come to texas [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] do [Music] [Music] [Music] down foreign so as you can see some of the mod podge ended up coming through to the surface of the fabric and cause just a little bit of unevenness so i ended up watering down mod podge and painting it over the surface and i did two layers of that and then ended up spraying it with the same water-based polyurethane that i finished the rest of the piece with [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] hello [Music] so rather than painting all of this the same color we actually decided to sand down the top and do a light stain on it [Music] and because the sanding process took so incredibly long andrea hired a buddy and together we tackled the sanding of this piece which still took a really long time even with two people but we had some fun with it [Music] [Applause] [Music] a little trick i like to do when trying to get a really light stain on wood is to actually do a paint wash and i will take watered down acrylic paint in like a beige or white color and wipe it on kind of like you would a stain and it really just helps lighten a wood that normally you couldn't get that light [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Applause] [Music] right check that spot for your life [Music] so [Music] um [Music] [Music] [Music] so that's all
