[Music] [Laughter] welcome back folks to a brand new video while we love paris for its world-class restaurants cafes and museums there's plenty more to see in france than just the capital the country's towns and villages have beauty to rival any major city in the world so here are 10 beautiful towns to visit in france this is part one now before you even watch this video don't forget to hit that like button obviously for the youtube algorithm [Music] number one the colors of maton oranges yellows and reds can only mean one thing you've definitely reached the french riviera it's the last stop on the cot de zeur and although it's incredibly popular with visitors it often gets overshadowed by its neighbors nice and cairns however this town is perfect size for a weekend getaway and a great base from which to explore the wonderful coastline it's an area around the old port of maton which is the most attractive [Music] number two kolmar in real life kolmar is a small town which is located in the alsace region of northeast france the alexas is where france meets germany and ownership of the region has been passed back and forth between the two countries over the years and the result is a unique mix of the two cultures think of it as france with a twist [Music] colmar doesn't have a huge list of must-see attractions but what it does have is scenic spots nestled among vineyards and traditional houses canals floral displays and amazing cuisine we'll also find famous wines and charming accommodation which makes colmar an extremely outstanding town number three sant emilion bordeaux may be the world's most important wine region but the vineyard's filled landscape can be a little monotonous the medieval town of santa million is a notable exception the entire jurisdiction was named a unesco world heritage site in 1999. the town's winding hilly streets and limestone houses attract visitors with only a casual interest in wine winery tours tastings led by professionals and gourmet picnics and lunches [Music] number four ponzi with a population of well over 125 000 sometimes called the venice of savoir this lakeside alpine town is treasured for its sloping hillsides and the canals that wind their way through the streets now here's a pro tip the small stone bridges over the canals make for a perfect photo opportunity but while its population might be bigger than the rest on this list its cobblestone streets and pastel coloured houses provide that same storybook feel that you will find in some of france's tiniest villages [Music] number five shamany proximity to montblanc has made it one of europe's most legendary skiing and climate centers but it's the town itself with panoramic mountain views and rows of slant ruth buildings is the one that's lovely every month of the year but while skiing and snowboarding in the winter and alpinest pursuits in the summer are the obvious attractions to sharmoni there is also plenty of other things to do in the town itself unlike modern resorts shamanism existed well before skiing let alone snowboarding where even dreamt about so there is a huge wealth of cultural and other activities to entertain yourselves once you visit the town so don't forget [Music] number six monster michelle you never forget the first time you see monster michelle rising above the bay where normandy and brittany meet the town itself is built on an 83 meter high cliff of pure granite and has been an important site for pilgrims for well over 1 000 years you can also walk there when the tide is low however make sure you go with the guide as the tides turn quickly and are extremely treacherous once you're there climb the many steps and cobbled streets until you reach the abbey and it's there where you will enjoy the spectacular views of the surrounding countryside before exploring the medieval town just [Music] below [Music] number seven carcassonne the long duck region is like nowhere else in france thanks to its some baked beaches forested peaks and density of the vineyards it's perhaps best exemplified by the medieval town of carcassonne overlooking the river the town's main lure is a 10th century citadel complete with ramparts and a drawbridge a very picturesque town to visit [Music] number eight eight to the top [Music] is a town on the north coast of france known for its spectacular cliffs and one of normandy's most popular tourist sites [Music] the famous limestone arches and needle of rock make for a spectacular sight that is one of the most famous parts of the french coastline [Music] it's inspired writers and artists alike and the cliffs are full of legends and history even arsene lupin the gentleman thief that you might find on netflix acted out one of these most well-known stories here in the hollow needle but there are hiking trails that will take you to the top of the cliffs or you can enjoy a more leisurely walk along the concrete promenade that takes you on to the pebble beach number nine fizzle [Applause] [Music] standing proud the tiny hilltop village of bisley is a wonderful delight also a unesco world heritage site anyone with a passion for architecture will feel right at home it's like something out of a movie the village is packed with mesmerizing alleyways vineyards and sunflower fields make sure that your detour walks include a visit to the vizlei abbey where you'll be afforded plenty of sweeping views of the surrounding countryside this trip is for those who are seeking more of the quieter holidays [Music] number 10 carroll on tech carolyn tech is a small town lying on the shoreline of the bay of molay in brittany it is most well known for the islands that spread around the bay it has seven beaches all offering a wide range of water sports making it a great destination for those seeking a beach holiday so it comes as no surprise that the best places to stay are usually set besides the seaside because of the bay area in the past the english wanted a piece of the action so a fort was built to prevent those attacks and today it's a listed building where visitors can enjoy themed tours for those who don't know it's only a 50 minute drive from brest [Music] well there you have it folks a list of towns and villages with hilltop views or flower lined canals pastel buildings all these kind of things for your city break holiday and this is part one because france has an absolute ton of options hopefully you enjoyed the video and i will see you all for part two as always be good be kind and be bloody
