oh across the channel and over the last year I've reported on some truly bizarre disappearances that have taken place all across America and the following cases managed to baffle everyone involved now this is a long one so grab a hot drink and let's begin first disappearance takes us to the devil's Dent State Park where Rodney Letterman went missing when he was 33 years old he and a friend of his had traveled together to the park on the 27th of August 2017. the pair camped out in the park that night and all was well they had plans the following day to set out and Hike the Butterfield Trail which begins in the park and continues through the Ozark Mountains in total this Loop is just shy of 15 miles whose terrain varies while on this Trail it takes its hikers through Creeks up high ridges past waterfalls and caves what we know about Rodney through his wife Stacia was that he suffered from high blood pressure for which he required daily medication to keep in check on the day of the hike Rodney and his friend drove to the start of the trail parked up and began on their Journey however there was a problem around a mile into this hike Rodney needed to rest and sat down on the trail it's a piece as though he had forgot to bring his medication which had been left in the car he told his friend what was going on and this person then began the lonely Trek back to the car this track was obviously made quite quickly and the friend was able to retrieve the medication without a problem however another predicament perhaps far more serious would arise Upon returning to the spot the parrot stopped Rodney wasn't there the friend began to look around the immediate area but he could find no sign of Rodney the question must immediately become why did Rodney leave at the time of his disappearance he had one and a half liters of water on his person so it's not as though he was at immediate risk of dehydration and could have stayed put more likely is that he may have been having a bad episode with his high blood pressure when hypertension becomes quite bad the sufferer can have severe headaches nosebleeds fatigue confusion and vision problems Etc there are two scenarios that come to mind at this stage being that if confusion had onset alongside a massive headache he could very well have been disoriented perhaps even forgetting what he was doing and wandered away Into the Wilderness another scenario might have been as a result of hallucinations when these episodes occur a number of people have reported hallucinating so it could be that he thought he saw something and either wanted to leave or follow it's important to note though that the reason Rodney left has never been ascertained those are just my best guesses at trying to make sense of the situation given what was reportedly happening at the time with that being said though there are other details that may make this situation seem a bit more unusual when the search for Rodney failed the French sounded the alarm and alerted the authorities the search for Rodney was well put together and ended up being quite extensive in the vicinity of Devil's Den State Park they had searches on Horseback ATVs on foot drones a helicopter with thermal imaging technology and search dogs too over the following week the search teams had scoured over four thousand acres both in and surrounding the park these searches would uncover a number of discoveries on one particular Trail in the area where a number of primitive campsites and at one of these sites Rodney's mobile phone phone charger and flashlight were found it's important to note that at this site there was no evidence of a struggle or anything of that nature so it didn't appear that Rodney had an altercation with another person obviously Rodney wasn't found along with the equipment what we know is that Letterman had some medical conditions and his medications were left in the friend's vehicle said Lieutenant Brett Hagan we have analyzed the phone and it is given us some leads but we still have not been able to look at Letterman Higgin said at this point we still do not know if something happened to Letterman at the park if he got a ride out of there from another friend or if there's any foul player It's Curious that the authorities said that the fund gave them some leads given that the pair in a Wilderness Area at the time of the disappearance it's not clear to me what could have been relevant other than a plan Rodney had made either to intentionally disappear or something else I'm not sure and to be clear that is nothing more than speculation but it's difficult to imagine what else could have possibly been relevant on the phone in this instance in any case there would be no further discoveries made that is until 18 months later on February the 25th 2019 a high care spending time in Devil's Den State Park came across a skull and remains in the woods next to a hiking trail these remains would be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for further examination and his word they were confirmed as belonging to Rodney according to strangeoutdoors.com Park officials said the area where the remains were found was three miles away from the visitors center and was actually on private land surrounded by the U.S forest Service property that area is generally inaccessible and Tim Scott Devil's Den Park assistant superintendent said he was surprised the hiker found the romance because the terrain is very rugged as remote as that area is there might be some Hunters going there and a few hikers but the location doesn't get much foot traffic or even wheeler traffic another Point that's interesting about this discovery is that it appears as though the area The Remains were found was searched almost two years prior in 2017 meaning that Rodney was found in an area that had been previously searched and must have arrived there sometime afterwards it's never been understood what happened to Rodney and almost every question remains unanswered why did he leave the area when his friend went to the car why did he seemingly abandon his equipment at a campsite how did he avert all of the searches to end up in a place that had been previously searched what leads did the authorities come up with in regards to the firm and how could that have been relevant given the situation in the end it seems what happened to Rodney will never be fully understood in September of 2021 Mark O'Neill and Kim crumber two veteran ex-park Rangers would disappear in Yellowstone National Park the pair were half Brothers very close and given their expertise and background they love spending time in these kinds of wilderness areas at this point in their lives Mark was 67 and Kim was 74 years old so while getting on in their lives the two of them were highly experienced the first time I came across their disappearance was from the Salt Lake Tribune who reported this on the 21st of September 2021 a search and rescue operation is underwear in Yellowstone National Park for Mark and Kim relatives reported the permission after they were overdue from a Backcountry trip on Sunday when they didn't return from their expected fortnite Excursion they were reported missing on the 19th which means that they could have disappeared or met with trouble anywhere from the 15th or 16th onwards it also appears that part of the search effort was put together on the exact day that they were reported missing and then further expanded thereafter in the same article we find that Mark was found on the 20th Cruz found Mark's Body Monday along the east shore of Shoshone Lake the second largest lake in Yellowstone according to a National Park Service news release Kim remains missing searches on Sunday first found a vacant campsite on the south side of the lake the next day Cruz found a canoe a paddle personal flotation device and other items along the lakes east shore again the actual debt of disappearance is unclear but at some point during this ordeal the weather did worsen in the area is prone to high winds and its average water temperature is a cold 48 degrees Fahrenheit or 9 degrees Celsius on Sunday Yellowstone received its first major snow storm of the season Kim himself was highly experienced when it came to bodies of water for two decades of service his work included being a river Ranger and Wilderness coordinator at the Grand Canyon National Park in addition to being a park ranger as well as that Kim also worked as a professional River guide for 10 years and he was a former Navy SEAL too so if anyone knew the dangers of rivers at a very in-depth level it was Kim on that point too Mark also worked as a river guide so they both will have been well aware of what they were dealing with now given that the search teams found a canoe paddle and flotation device along the east shore of the lake it seems that it wasn't the case that Mark had been passing by and had fallen in rather it seems to suggest that the paired plant a canoe there and clearly they had taken some safety measures given that a personal flirtation device was found along the shore Mark's remains were found on the East Shore but the flotation device seems to be listed as being found separately so that raises the initial question did he have it on in the first place did he remove it or did it just come off sometime after that's not immediately clear in any case despite finding Mark Kim was nowhere to be seen during the last five days Crews have been searching the Shoshone Lake Shoreline by boats swept the trails in the area and have searched the open Waters by helicopter the national park services submerged Research Center says they will begin using Sonar equipment to detect clues in the water for Kim they would never find these Clues and the focus on the leg was intense in the sense that it was thoroughly searched repeatedly but no signs were presenting themselves during this time because nutress of Kim could be found at all the search also encompassed the nearby trails and the surrounding Forest areas this didn't work no Footprints or any kind of Clues were ever found an interesting point is that they couldn't identify a cause of passing for Mark right away given that he was found on the east shore of the lake you might suspect accidental drowning but this wasn't actually the case an autopsy has determined that a man whose body was found on the shore of a lake in Yellowstone National Park passed away as a result of hypothermia Park officials said Wednesday what happened remains under investigation as said earlier from what I can gather it seems to be reported that the equipment were found separately from the body though the cause of passing itself revealed that the cause wasn't drowning but rather hypothermia so does this mean that he was in fact wearing the flotation device floating device in question is a life jacket could the body easily have slipped out of there the obvious problem here is that if he wasn't wearing it you'd expect the cars to be drowning and not hypothermia or perhaps the Articles just aren't worded the best and he was wearing it but sure doesn't read that way in any case back to the Salt Lake Tribune Crews continue to look for Kim teams are searching near Shoshone Lake on foot and by Bert and with the help of dog teams a helicopter and sonar needless to say but the dogs never found Kim's sent and the sonar equipment never revealed Kim's location while Occam's Reza would suggest that perhaps he was in the lake we have no evidence of this and this search is as well as the sonar scans were coming up negative it's estimated that in these Waters at these temperatures a person might only survive for between 20 and 30 minutes after entering the 20 or 30 minutes there being the time in which the stages of hypothermia would have completely progressed this raises an interesting point to think about Kim for whatever reason can't have been wearing his flotation device or he'd have been found floating at least as far as my understanding goes of these devices that seems inevitably to be the case however this never happened so either he wasn't wearing one it also came off somehow but was never found or he wasn't in the lake after around three weeks of searching the effort was scaled down the search for Kim has continued for nearly three weeks using helicopters but sonar technology and ground Crews Park official said the park will continue limited search efforts as long as conditions allow this year that is quite literally the end of the paper trail over a years pass now and Kim hasn't been found it seems odd that nutress was found if he was in the water you'd have expected his life jacket to be found or maybe he wasn't wearing one that seems unlikely given his background and expertise however anything said now is only ever going to be complete speculation in the end it seems at this time we don't have a great understanding as to what happened in the lake this is a disappearance that I'll keep checking back in on so if there's ever any updates I'll share it let's explore the next disappearance now this next disappearance has a very fitting headline titled by the Dover New Philadelphia Times Reporter in Arkansas a disappearance baffles investigators Gloria McDonald was 68 years old when she disappeared from Queen Wilhelmina state park on the 26th of January 2001. on that day Gloria along with her husband Daniel Sean who was her son and Aaron Sean's girlfriend had planned to spend the day hiking in the park the article begins after a quiet breakfast in this town a few miles from the Oklahoma line Daniel McDonald and three family members drove up a nearby Mountain to hike Lover's leap Trail after they had their breakfast and made it to the trail they began to hike it seems that the area prior to their visit had been hit with bad weather and harsh winds because some of the trees had fallen this kind of activity wasn't really Glory's idea of a good time at least from what I can tell but she had agreed to some family time though it seems because of the weather damage it made the hike a bit more difficult and she wasn't a big fan of that at some point during this hike the group came to a larger tree that had fallen and was blocking their path it seems that this was the moment Gloria decided to just head back to the car park and gift shop so she left the group and this is where the real strangeness begins so let's get bizarre and return to the article what happened on the 26th of January has baffled authorities and set residents theorizing about the idea that she might have been taken by a third party or worse did Gloria get lost was she taken did she decide to run away police even wonder if she was ever in the 460 acre Park this woman disappeared Without a Trace in 30 minutes said Paul County Sheriff Michael ogles we have no motive no evidence of any kind we've got nothing so we have a situation here where the group had walked 250 yards along a reportedly obvious Trail but when Gloria decided to head back something had gone completely awry this set of circumstances confused the authorities so much that they began treating Daniel as a suspect this is despite the fact that three people were with Gloria the very moment she decided to walk back while not impossible obviously this means that all three of them would have to be lying including their son Daniel complained to the authorities that they were wasting time instead of trying to find his wife when this continued on he demanded a polygraph test and he passed it the day afterwards the authorities brought such dogs down to the scene and they began looking but they wouldn't find a Trace nothing was left behind at all there was no sign of a struggle there were no sense to indicate that she'd left the trail at least in so far as there were no Footprints or anything of that nature to make matters even stranger Gloria was wearing a bright yellow jacket and had distinctive red hair meaning at least in regards to the jacket she was well visible and not someone that you wouldn't notice the group said that they hadn't seen anyone else in the area that day and they were the only people on the trail the sheriff added nothing points to the fact that there is foul player and nothing points to the fact that she ran off when a person runs off purposefully there is usually evidence Left Behind of this and it can come in various forms usually this is in writing form either texts or emails indicating plans unusual phone records money being spent elsewhere Etc except none of that happened and there was no evidence to indicate this there were three people with Gloria when she disappeared from what's reported she said she'd had enough and then walked back down the trail the group continued on their way and 30 minutes later they find themselves in the gift shop Glory was supposed to be in space of 30 minutes Gloria had managed to Disappear Completely Without a Trace so what happened as she was walking back alone did she see something she wasn't supposed to see did she see something that interested her and walked off into the woods did she simply lose her wear was an unknown third party present we'll probably never know for sure now and all we're left with is the fact that the dogs never picked up a scent and no clues were ever found not on foot and not from the air so what happened to Gloria McDonald and where did she go the first disappearance is very unusual and things get weird almost right from the get-go so let's get bizarre the first I heard of Eloise Lindsay was from the Aiken Standard who wrote an article about her on the 14th of November 1989. Eloise a planned a trip to Table Rock State Park which of course is around 50 miles away from the Great Smoky Mountains I'll let the article explain authorities have set beyond the trail marker that are missing 22 year old Atlanta woman is thought to have gone but still have not found the high care who failed to return from a week-long trip Eloise Lindsay began her hike at Table Rock State Park in Pickens County on the 4th of November and plan to end up Saturday at Whitewater Falls in Oconee County a distance of 43.3 Miles official said Eloise would be reported missing by a friend who was supposed to be picking her up but of course when she didn't arrive at the agreed time they set alarm Bells off for the friend the emergency preparedness agency director said that he had absolutely no idea what could have happened to her and that his searches had scoured on and off the trail that she was said to be on but they found no trace of her at all The Authority spoke to many of the hikers in the area but none of them had seen her at any time unfortunately there weren't any reports that I could find that talked about this incident in any kind of depth at least that is until she was found and this is where things get weird this was reported on the 21st of November 1989 by the Kannapolis daily Independence a 22 year old woman who spent 16 days in the woods before being found by a Hunter says most of the time that she was running thinking men were chasing her I don't have any evidence I just know I was terrorized for two weeks this hike of hers was supposed to take seven days and she came prepared for that bringing seven days worth of supplies and it was of course after she'd been missing for that week that she was reported as such authorities in Oconee and Pickens counties and neighboring North Carolina counties search the area by foot air and horseback with tracking dogs ending the search Saturday were no clues to where whereabouts were found or in other words at no point did the dogs find her sense and zero Clues were found for the duration of their time spent missing it wasn't as a result of the search effort that she was found she was actually found by a hunter around five miles off the trail and in the vicinity of the end of their planned hike so she did end up quite close to her destination on the 7th of November three days into the hike I felt like I was being traced Through the Woods by a group of men up until this morning I felt like I was being chased I never saw them I never wanted to see them I heard them talk about me though it might be called paranoia but I don't think it was the way they kept on my trail for the whole time I just know that I was terrified for the whole two weeks she said that she ditched her backpack with the week's worth of supplies early in an attempt to speed up so she could lose them so you know she must have been completely terrified here because she'd effectively given up the supplies that would be keeping her alive let's hear more of what she had to say speaking of the supposed men she said I could tell there was no good intent involved but there was no clear indication that they meant to harm me I used Instinct like a deer I could hear them using walkie-talkies and they were talking about me when asked how she survived she said that she would drink from streams and kept some dried apples from a pack she also stated that she found some still Donuts hidden inside a tree it was never explained how she found those she said that she also had helicopters and did understand that they were probably looking for her but she also said that she was too scared to try and get their attention because it might have given her position away to the men who she believed were following her she also said that when she finally met with the hunter she was delirious and told the man that she didn't know if she could trust him thankfully he was able to reassure her and he took her to his truck and got help the authorities did make some comments on her experience from the very beginning before the search was initiated she became frightened or paranoid that somebody was trying to run her down however we don't believe anybody was chasing her although the hiker insisted that men had chased her along the trail authorities said they have no such evidence and have no plans to investigate further officials who interviewed The Backpacker said the most likely scenario is that she became frightened and panicked when she saw hunters and later thought her Rescuers with the same men chasing her the sheriff added we don't believe anybody was chasing her I can only imagine Eloise must have felt pretty dismissed by this because she remained steadfast in that position that there was someone in the woods with her a group of them during the search there were never any findings that other people were there with her off the trail there weren't any footprints that were ever found his included and nothing to indicate that there was a group of individuals near her I think that the Authority's hypothesis is actually quite reasonable but I get the sense that she was feeling somewhat gaslighted because she was absolutely adamant that she was not alone the authorities suggesting that perhaps at some stage she may have been hiding from the searches themselves in the end it's not really clear at all what happened and I would point out too that problems began for her on the 7th of November she of course wasn't reported missing until the 11th meaning that much of the time that she was having these experiences of being followed and harassed there wasn't actually anybody even looking for her so while it may be true that she had mistaken and hid from the searches at some point that can't have been the case for the entire duration there was no mention of her suffering from any kind of condition and as far as I can tell she hadn't hallucinated or had delusions before these kind of health conditions or substance abuse activities are normally reported on so something startled Eloise initially what was it was she not alone she said that she never actually saw them but she could hear them and it sounded like they were using walkie-talkies that's about all of the information I could find on Eloise so please do share your thoughts with me what happened here now let's move on to the next disappearance [Music] let's start with Bonnie Lee Edwards who was 10 years old when she disappeared from outside her farmhouse on the 9th of January 1965. just as an interesting side note this disappearance was in quite close proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park roughly around 100 miles away Bonnie had special educational needs and while she was 10 medical professionals alongside teachers from s school stated that she had the ability of a six-year-old so was working at an ability that was somewhat under her age what makes this disappearance quite unusual is the fact that at the time she was only 100 yards from her home and was playing with a number of her friends when this occurred this was a group of friends that she was very familiar with and had made the trip to and from her home to this area many times so despite her learning difficulties it is difficult to understand how she might have become lost this time highway patrolman Buck Edwards no relation to the missing girl said Bonnie was dressed in a light shirt with blue jeans and was within 100 yards of the family's Farm home Saturday when she told her Playmates that she was tired and going home just for a little added context it seems that at this point of Separation when she decided to go home the weather also began to worsen and it started raining which seems to have driven her want to go home the search for Bonnie was absolutely massive she disappeared at 4 30 p.m that day and within hours and overnight over 1 000 people were out searching for her unfortunately Bonnie's body was found 24 hours after she disappeared but I want to read you something interesting that was reported about this a 10 year old girl lightly dressed and missing for 24 hours in near freezing weather was found passed away Sunday in the woods a quarter mile from her home Searchers making the third pass over the area and the first in full daylight discovered the body of Bonnie Lee Edwards curled up in a brush pile the area had been gone over Saturday night and in the early Sunday Darkness without a trace of the child or in other words Bonnie was found in an area that had already been searched three times now In fairness the failed searches were all in darkness so that certainly could account for the fact as to why she wasn't found initially but still I wouldn't blame anyone for feeling that was odd another thing I'd like to point out was that this did actually confuse the searches too not only the fact that she was found in an area already searched but the fact that she also left no Trace as to how she got there I'm not completely sure about what this means perhaps they were expecting Footprints or something along those lines I'm not sure I'd like to hear from trackers on that one if it was near freezing would you even expect footprints it was raining and sleeting too so I'm not sure either where however the fact that there were no clues to the child's whereabouts left the searches puzzled throughout the night and into Sunday they combed nearby Woods in a steady cold rain often laced with sleet as the temperatures dropped into the low 30s that's between zero and two degrees Celsius but leaning closer to zero anywhere this disappearance really does make absolutely no sense at all Bonnie disappeared within 100 yards of her home which she could see and then was found 24 hours later in an area that was already searched multiple times albeit in the dark okay so let's hear from the coroner Suri County coroner Carl L Thomas who ruled the cause of passing as a result of exposure said that there was no evidence of foul player he added that the position of the body indicated Bonnie had let down in the brush pile for warmth and fell asleep and just for further clarification Bonnie was last seen playing with Insight of their Farm herp when she disappeared Saturday this incident was highly saddening and unfortunate in a number of ways it seems that there may be something missing here that many will understandably in some sense shrug off due to a special educational needs this is a topic I'm quite passionate about as many of you know that I used to work with and teach children with special needs this wrench from autism to moderate learning difficulties Etc some who were working at a much lower ability than their age despite this it's incredibly difficult to believe that she managed to get lost 100 yards away from The Farmhouse a short route she'd taken many times which was also in view of their last known location before she disappeared so the coroner stated that this has to have been as a result of exposure and that she was curled up in a way that made it look like she was seeking warmth okay that's reasonable she wasn't injured and there were no other signs of any kind of foul player that may describe how she came to pass away but it doesn't describe in any meaningful way how she got there did she quite literally get lost was it that simple everything I say now is speculation but there have been cases in the past where a third party has been involved whom then changed their mind about what they were doing I bring this up because the distance she disappeared from her house is remarkable and while she was on her way back it could certainly be possible that a third party was involved but the situation became too hot too quickly there were over 1 000 searches including hundreds of military personnel showing up to help search now there are some problems with this if the third party did take care how in the world did they manage to bring her back to a final location that had been searched three times without being seen how is it that she also passed away due to exposure because in theory if she had been taken initially she wouldn't have been sitting in the elements for that length of time so I do accept that there are obstacles with that hypothesis I actually agree with the Searchers who commented that they were puzzled it's very difficult to make sense of this one I'd like to hear your thoughts on this one too are you with me in thinking that there are some peculiarities here or do you think she simply got lost do share your thoughts sadly that was the end of the paper trail too so let's explore the next disappearance Geraldine marcline was two years old when she disappeared from her rural Farm Home in Pennsylvania around three miles or so Northeast of Hanover the first report that I could find on Geraldine came from the Altoona Mirror who reported this on the 28th of October 1929 a group of more than 175 persons today resumed the search for Geraldine who has been missing since Saturday the child wandered away from the farm home of her parents while her mother was absent the child had been left in the custody of a 14 year old brother the search for Geraldine went forward all night Saturday and yesterday without results [Music] the 14 year old brother Luther wasn't only looking after Geraldine that day he was also looking after his younger sister 11 and another brother four Luther had looked after them many times before and there had never been a problem apparently geraldine's mother had an urgent trip that she had to take to Hanover though the reasoning wasn't stated Luther taking his younger siblings out into the garden where they were gathering leaves to be used in Bedding stock on the farm Geraldine was plus besides a tree in very close proximity to the others playing with a toy while she watched them Luther then went inside to bring some supplies out such as food and drink but when he returned she was nowhere to be seen she disappeared quickly and had managed to get completely out of sight the youngest siblings never saw or heard anything it's a hint at what might have happened it's appeared as though she'd just wandered off though it was commented a number of times at how odd it was that she had seemingly gotten far away enough not to be discovered in the time that she had Unfortunately The Farmhouse was remote so Luther wasn't able to get help so instead he asked the others to stay inside the house while he looked but he couldn't find a trace of her he spent the entire time looking for her until his mother arrived back home a number of hours later this of course is when the official search began for Geraldine and they had over 200 searches on scene quickly The Searchers perform grid searches for miles in all directions from the center point which was the tree thankfully this set would look hitter but it wouldn't be until 48 Hours had passed after spending two days and nights Outdoors clad only in light clothing Geraldine is home again apparently nonetheless were her experience after wandering away from her parents home she was located 48 hours later she was found Monday morning in what is known as the milikivi woods about one and a half miles from her home she was discovered by her grandfather Jacob Albert and Clayton when found the girl's hat and coats were missing and she was wearing only one shoe and one stocking Geraldine was wrapped in a blanket by her Rescuers and taken home where an examination revealed that she apparently had not suffered any ill effects from exposure this shocked some of the searches initially because it was said to have been particularly cold at that time especially overnight it seems that there was some present searching that really didn't believe that this was going to have a pleasant ending it was said that the experience wasn't a terrifying one for Geraldine though I'm not sure how they knew that exactly it was said that she wasn't able to relay what happened it doesn't appear that any of the missing clothes were ever found and similar to other disappearances I've covered in the past there was an emphasis on the night time in that it wasn't fully understood how she managed to stay warm especially in such light clothing and lack thereof there were also suspicions of her being taken because during the search they were just finding nothing there were some with the opinion that this particular hypothesis would explain why she didn't suffer from exposure hypothermia or anything like that however there was no evidence of any kind of abuse but not only that what would the purpose be of taking the Hat cut one shoe and one stocking another point that seems to refute this idea is the fact that while she was an injured she did have scratches that would imply spending time in the outdoors ultimately we will never know completely why or how she left whatever time spent missing look like or what she was doing overnight at least she was found in much better condition than people expected despite all of the confusion now let's move on to the next disappearance let's start with five-year-old Pamela hollingworth who disappeared in the White Mountains in the state of New Hampshire this happened on the 28th of September 1941 and appeared in the Press quickly the following day the hollingwith family consisted of the father mother Pamela her nine-year-old brother Teddy and two grandparents who were present that day they had been walking for some time at this point enjoying themselves and had stopped at the State Reservation picnic grounds at around 2 15 PM for a nice family break as the family were enjoying themselves Teddy and Pamela had wondered about 100 yards away from the parents next to a trail the pair left the view of their parents for a minute to go down into a little Brook where they played in the shallow water a mini saucer had passed and Teddy came back out of the trail area alone the parents noticing this got up immediately and asked where she'd gone but Teddy had absolutely no idea basically given the idea that as they were playing he turned around and she just wasn't there anymore what's fascinating about this is that whatever happened here it went down quickly parents ran to the brook area and began calling out for Pamela but they never received a response or heard her she within the space of a minute or two had gotten far enough away as to not be able to hear the calls from her parents Pamela's plight was reported by her Father Joseph hollingworth after he his wife their son and the children's grandmother Mrs Minnie Malton had searched the Woodland for around three hours so this was quite surprising the family searched for three hours without finding anything they were poking and pushing into the woods near the brook all the while calling out but again they never received a reply almost immediately the thoughts seemed to be that this situation was ridiculous and there's no way she could have gotten very far so the question became what if she hadn't left the area but had gone underwater in the brook this comment was made early on deputy sheriff Taylor said the brook where the children were playing was extremely shallow and could not have concealed a body he said his men found no indication that the child had fallen into the water litter in the deer this was stated one woman reported to Searchers she thought she saw the child wandering along a country road an eighth of a mile away from the picnic Grove and a message was sent to the police that Pamela might have been picked up by a motorist because of this singular report Lauren Foster began to believe that a crime had been committed here and that Pamela had been taken by a third party it comes across as though because this area was in the process of being scoured by over 300 people with Bloodhounds it was felt that she had to have been found quickly if she was still there so when the Searchers and the dogs came up with nothing it seems to have left people a bit puzzled now in the event that she was still in the woods there were other concerns arising too at dawn the child was still missing though relatives professional Searchers and forest rangers under the supervision of deputy sheriff Herbert Taylor had scoured the thickets near White ledge Camp throughout the night till a feared for the child safety because she was lightly clad a near-freezing weather prevailed during the night this of course was not a good sign and temperatures were below freezing all throughout the night and early into the morning and thereafter was still very cold during the next day as you can probably imagine this situation had become even more serious very quickly after the temperatures dropped to Sub-Zero because of this the following day another 150 people would join the search bringing the turtle to around 450 at this point Deputy Sheriff Harry leave it said 150 searches including soldiers from Fort Devers were beating through the Woodline as two airplanes flew overhead in search of the girl this of course still wasn't enough to find her and at this point it does really feel that the prominent idea circulating among the Searchers was that she'd been taken it reads as though there was a disbelief that she could have gotten so far away to avoid everyone in such a short time it was said that this was a rugged area off the trail and not easily traversable at all which would be especially true for a very young person the sheriff then had another thought the sheriff pointed out that Pamela might have found refuge in some secluded cabin and that all such buildings were being searched she wasn't found in any such cabin and at this point the authorities were fully leaning into the idea that she'd been taken because from their point of view this made absolutely no sense at all now which is going to become very interesting here's a headline by the Lowell Sun nurturous of child yet suspect ex-convict a state alarm questioned in several cases in the area from which girl vanished given that headline it would seem as though there might have been other disappearances in the area too in any case let's have a further look at what was going on at one time New Hampshire convict was hunted throughout the East today as a suspect in connection with the search for Pamela who vanished Sunday from a white mountain picnic Grove this man is wanted on suspicion of felony taking Pamela the suspect was questioned early this week Pamela was not the strongest girl in the world these three nights in the open Mountain Air would have been too much for her physique she had to watch what she ate perhaps it's best to think that someone had picked her up and is now keeping her in one of those Mountain cabins at least she will be alive and saved from wondering through a chill New Hampshire wood you can imagine just how devastated the family were feeling here the mother said that she hadn't slept for a single moment since she disappeared the family also made it known that while they didn't want to admit it at first the immediate gut feeling was that she may have been taken family explain again pummy and Ted took their water bottles and went down to the Lakeside to get some water they returned in two or three minutes they then took another trip to the water and Pammy never came back Joe rest through the woods like a wild man he fairly fled through the surrounding Thicket he would return at intervals each time showing more concerned from the very beginning he said that he thought someone had taken Pammy he said that she couldn't have disappeared so quickly given all the details that I learned about this disappearance I find myself in full agreement with the father that this was very strange we're talking about a very young person that disappeared so ridiculously quickly and then seemed to have managed to get very far aware in such an unreasonably short amount of time it didn't make sense to the family it didn't make sense to law enforcement who seemed to prefer the idea that she'd been taken and it doesn't make sense to me now as I make my way through this The Searchers did identify footprints that were small and believed may have been left by Pamela there's no real detail here other than this picture in which the father was inspecting them with other searches unfortunately the footprints seemed to Peter out into nothing a bloodhound was headed to DARE into the dark called woodlands where more than 300 men are searching for Pamela the dog trained by Rod Island State Police let the fourth search Forest ranger Jacob Ryerson said that the chances of finding Pamela alive whereabouts at the limit of reasonable hope it's important to note too that the ex-convict was voluntarily going to speak with the police at this point every time they called him and each time he said that he had nothing to do with it I think that these suspicions arose in the first place because he was thought to have been in the general area of the mountain that day the exact proximity isn't mentioned anywhere this was thought not to be the case at all when she was found on the ninth day of the search this was absolutely puzzling for everyone with doctors saying that it was a miracle and that they couldn't explain how she was in such good condition for being missing in a freezing Wilderness Area for this length of time the father of five deliriously happy is thanking all for their aid in his nine-day heartbreaking search for Pamela which came to a miraculous ending late yesterday when the little Wanderer was found sitting on the banks of a Mountain Brook about two miles from where she disappeared Dr Albert William Chief surgeon with the CCC outfit who beat the brush down to earth in efforts to find the youngster gave the best news of all when he stated that Pamela was in Sound Health it is a miracle but nonetheless true said the doctor her lungs are normal her heart is normal and Pamela will be all right the circulation through her swollen feet has been compromised but warmth and Medical Care will serve her feet this was just truly remarkable for her to be in such good condition almost everyone involved either believed that she'd been taken by the ex-convict some of the third party or that she had succumbed to the freezing temperatures Pamela herself did make some comments I haven't been lost at all I guess my parents got lost I've been looking for them I've been looking for them since Sunday but I couldn't find them I've just been looking around I walked a lot I didn't eat any berries because I was afraid I might get sick I didn't see anyone at all the time I was gone no I'm sure I didn't see anyone I lost my hair ribbons didn't I but I didn't take them off I didn't take my shoes off I didn't want to hurt my feet but they do hurt Pamela was found in a state of confusion and seemed to be somewhat confused too while later giving those quotes though of course she was only five years old and missing for nine days without food so it's not as if that wouldn't be expected the whole incident must have been highly disorienting and traumatic I found this particularly interesting after being found law enforcement initially repeated the idea that they believed that someone else must have been with her but they took it back after Pamela's comments changing their opinion to state that she was alone this was coupled with others too who held the opinion that she wasn't alone news of her safety LED some observers to the belief that she had been taken and then released by a third party but Dr Charles Smith who examined her after she was taken to a hospital so that there was nothing to indicate that she'd been out of the woods let me just make this clear too what is being said is that there were no signs of any kind of indecent assault or anything like that Pamela's mother said I didn't really believe that she was in the woods so incredulous were many persons including some veteran woodsmen and soldiers at the child's stamina that they freely expressed belief that she had been taken held in a cabin or some such place and then released on a mountain trail even after hearing Pamela there were those who remained absolutely convinced and steadfast that something was not adding up here they seemed to find it bizarre that she managed to avoid the Searchers for so long while managing to somehow stay warm during the freezing cold temperatures it seems that law enforcement were being berated somewhat too by the local populace because people were absolutely convinced that there was more to this than meets the eye taking recognition of the skepticism which appeared to be widespread the lead investigator called newsmen to his office in a midnight conference and told them I have found absolutely no evidence to support the theory of her being taken the doctor said then I examined her all over there were few if any effects from exposure there was hardly a scratch on her body save her knees which were chafed from crawling attending doctors tell me that she suffers from occasional nightmares she shouts out something in the middle of her sleep about it's wet or it's raining out but that is not a bad sign and is to be expected perhaps to make this even more remarkable was the fact that it wasn't only around and below freezing for the entire time but it had been raining a lot too which is the perfect recipe for hypothermia that was basically the end of the paper trail and good actual lot what an absolutely breathtaking incident this was in the end I suppose all that matters is that she was found but if she says that she'd been alone the entire time what can you really do with that it's amusing too because a lot of people simply didn't believe her it seems but at the end of the day it is what it is I'd love to know more about how she spends her days and what her time overnight look like now given that seemingly the end of the reports on this incident let's have a look at one more [Music] Jerry Hayes who was five years old when he disappeared under unusual circumstances from the rugged Rooker Canyon located in the chiricua mountains during November of 1938. at this time Jerry was on a hunting camping trip with his parents and he managed to disappear from their sight what's interesting here is that they weren't actively hunting at the time as far as I can tell but rather were resting at camp at some point both of the parents came to the realization that they'd lost track of Jerry and he just wasn't there anymore simply reporting that he'd wandered away what this looked like exactly isn't known did Jerry get distracted by something in the forest and wonder off to look was there an animal or something else nearby that Pete's interest we'll never know now but the parents did say that wandering aware wasn't a habit of his the search for Jerry was enormous a group of 400 Ember Elites and officers searched finally in rugged Rooker Canyon last night for Jerry missing for more than 28 hours it's important to highlight the fact that this search started quickly within an hour of The Disappearance in smaller numbers before escalating as the word spread even still they couldn't find a dress of him they were calling out but never receiving a reply as the search progressed one hypothesis began to gain traction the idea that Jerry might have been taken this came up because as numbers began to fill up the search and they poured into the forest in all directions they never saw or had anything to indicate that Jerry was there the father being quite cryptic continually said that he felt that Jerry was still here in the area and they just couldn't find him and he remained adamant about that the whole time while other ideas were being considered and circulating in any case though the search continued to escalate and soldiers would be sent into Sheriff Pruitt announced today that major ew Grimmer of Fort Huachuca had agreed to transport more than 200 soldiers to Rooker Canyon at this point Jerry had been missing for five days and hope began to feared because it had been freezing cold every single night searches including a battalion of soldiers from the fort wearily continued to search for Jerry without a single clue the sheriff expressed that there were many teams heading in all directions from the exact spot that he disappeared and I get the sense that he was quite bewildered at the fact that it had been five days and Jerry hadn't been found or any sign of him it seems that many present felt this way too and started asking questions about just how far he could have possibly gone this seemed to lead more people to the conclusion that he may have been taken from the area various hypotheses were Advanced as to the possible fit of the boy but it was believed he could not have survived the freezing temperatures at night in the rough Terrain the next day an interesting Discovery was made Footprints identified as Jerry's were found yesterday and members of the searching party said these were the most encouraging clue located since the hunt began the prince were about three miles from where ranchers reported Saturday they had a child calling Daddy that actually reminded me of an incident in the previous video Cattlemen had a shout and believed it to be the missing boy but they couldn't figure out where it was coming from it was the same kind of situation here too the source of the calling wasn't found leaders of the search for Jerry expressed themselves today completely mystified over the child's disappearance Sheriff Pruitt said the absence of any signs other than the footprints indicated the possibility someone might have picked him up and took him away this actually caused some disagreement because there were no other Footprints present meaning that it appeared as though Jerry Was Alone unfortunately the footprints came to an abrupt end and couldn't be followed any longer some of the Searchers were vocal about their confusion and were talking about how they had no idea what happened here and that their expectation was that it should have been found already the fact that the ranchers had a boy calling for his father seemed to really confuse things too because the sheriff and others believed that that meant that Jerry wasn't in fact alone but was with another person who he was calling out to unfortunately as said the source of the noise wasn't located at the site of the footprints over 1000 searches scoured the area but there was no further choice of Jerry the sheriff was absolutely convinced and maintained that a third-party attack and Jerry out of the area hundreds of men searching Rooker Canyon and a 50 square mile area surrounding plan to cease a one-week search today on the suspicion that he'd been taken Sheriff Pruitt's coordinating efforts of the small army was quoted as saying that if we don't find the his rooster today I'll know that he's been all out of here in a car the father refused to give up continuing to say that he still believed that Jerry was there somewhere and alive however Days Later Forest Service workers would make the discovery Jerry his body was reported found one and one-half miles from Buckskin Canyon saddle the discovery climaxed the search by nearly 1 000 men Sheriff Pruitt who'd been wrong about absolutely everything so far chimed in Jerry probably froze and passed away the first night he disappeared meanwhile this was reported immediately after Jerry his body was founded Air High on a canyon side where he fell exhausted after wandering from his parents camp three Forest Service workers Came Upon the boy's body about four and one half miles from the camp the body bar only a few scratches in his wondering the Lost Boy climbed approximately one thousand feet up the canyon side when the forest workers came across the body they noted that Jerry was missing his Overcoat but also realized that his shoes were missing it's often the case that really young people make their way downhill rather than up because it's much easier to travel and they Tire quickly while doing this so it's not clear what was happening here nor is it really clear how long he lasted some Searchers were of the opinion that Jerry was probably traveling for a couple of days before reaching his final location while the sheriff believed that he passed away the first night an official cause of passing either wasn't determined or wasn't reported because I could find no further articles on this and it was never stated though based on what was said I leaned towards the idea that it perhaps wasn't because of the Fall the point was made that the only injuries he'd sustained were scratches so exposure probably played a more important role unfortunately though there are no real answers and given that was the end of the paper trail it's time to end this video if you made it this far then I hope you found this compilation interesting I'd just like to take the time to thank you for watching and a big thank you to the patrons who've been running around and disappearing on the screen if you found the video interesting then please do leave a like hit the bell and subscribe if you haven't already it helps me a lot if not then feel free to leave a dislike I'm just looking for your honest opinion either way I hope that you've had a great day or evening depending on where you are and I'll see you in the next one be safe guys peace
