1 BEDROOM LUXURY APARTMENT TOUR: my mid-century modern 885 sq ft apartment in Arlington, VA!

hi guys welcome back to my channel if you guys are new here my name is Jenna and Welcome to our 2023 apartment tour I'm just gonna disclaim right now I did just tidy up and clean the apartment so it doesn't always look this perfect I'm so excited to bring you guys this apartment tour this is something that you guys have been requesting and if you guys watched my whole moving Series last year I'll link that whole playlist below it was so much fun just moving in with you guys and showing you guys the process this is actually the first apartment that I moved in with my partner Thomas this is something that we share together and I have spent so many months making this place our home and I love it so much I would say that this is like 99.9 complete there's nothing really I can think of that I feel like this apartment needs anymore and I'm so excited to give you guys the full tour to show you the space and everything I also do want to give you some context about this unit this is a one bedroom 885 square foot apartment in Arlington Virginia I'm not going to say exactly the name of this apartment but if you want to know you can email me there's kind of no perfect unit in this building but this location of Arlington is just really really perfect for us and you'll see when we get to the bedroom but the bedroom is actually in the middle of the unit so I think technically this is like what they call a junior one bed there's a window in the bedroom but the window is to the living room so technically there's no like real window in the bedroom but the trade-off was that this is 885 square feet so for us it just gave us like a much bigger living space and we decided that that was more important than having like a real window in the bedroom for this first apartment living together also last piece of context is that I do work full-time and I do work from home at an accounting firm and Thomas my partner is a first year medical student so another really big thing that was important for us when we were looking for apartments together was to just have a space big enough to fit two desks and just kind of never be in a situation where we only have room for one desk so ultimately that's why we chose this layout in this building it's just kind of everything that we need and I can't wait to show you guys the whole thing I will also have links for everything that I can find in the description box and I think that's everything let's just go ahead and get started okay let's start in the entryway this is our front door this area rug used to actually be at my kitchen in my old apartment but since we replaced it this is now our welcome mat and It just fits perfectly in the space and it's from Target so it's very nice and affordable and we really like it let's change views when you first enter the apartment here is what you see how about we start with the entryway so right next to the door you'll see that we have this entryway tree I think this is technically called and this is where we put all of our hats all of our like workout gear and then all of our like most daily used bags we have a bunch of Blue Lemon bags my everyday purse my Gucci Fanny my tote bag everything that we kind of use on like a daily basis that we just need to grab and go is all right here and then we also really like this because it has shoe storage at the bottom so it's just really nice you can sit put on your shoes you can store everything that you need and even when we have to hang stuff sometimes we'll put it up here this is really really nice this is from Amazon and I would highly recommend it next to the entryway Tree haul we have our laundry hamper this is also from Amazon and I love this so much because it's actually dual there's two separate bags in this laundry hamper it's very sturdy first of all but these are actually removable mesh bags they're just velcro and they are so nice you can easily separate your whites and your colors you can remove the bag as a whole and then just carry it over to our washer dryer which I'll show you guys later but this is so nice I also really like having the laundry hamper not actually in the bathroom but next to it it's just a very good use of space and we really like that on the other side we have our double door coat closet and this is something that was also really important to us because we clearly have a lot of coats and a lot of shoes and just a lot of storage a lot of units in this building that were also one bedrooms only had one door for the coat closet so another reason why we loved this floor plan was because it did have a double door coat closet which we really like so that's everything in this area of the entryway now let's go to the bathroom this is our beautiful bathroom I love this bathroom so much I love this huge LED mirror it's just so nice and bright it's a big mirror it's kind of everything that I ever wanted everything here is very functional we have some matches we have a JBL clip for if we ever want to play music while we're taking a shower we have a little canister for floss picks we also have this hand towel if we ever need to wipe water or anything we just leave it right here for easy use soap dispenser this is from Target and then this is our little corner we have this tray I got this from Home Goods it's very nice and I just really love having a tray to put everything that you need on a daily basis besides our retainers which realistically we do just leave right here next to the tray but other than that the tray is just really nice because it keeps all the clutter in one area and it's just it's a lot more aesthetically pleasing a lot more organized and just there's no more like counter space that's always used up so we have that we have my little salt lamp NightLight I love to keep this on at night because if I ever have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night it's really nice and it gives you the perfect amount of light that you need and then next to the lamp there is supposed to be the space for a hand towel but honestly it's just too cramped with everything so we decided to put all of our like facial wash headbands and hang them on this little hand towel rack and I think it works kind of perfectly this bath mat is from Target and I feel like it's gotten pretty dirty but honestly I feel like it's lasted up really well over time these are machine washable too but I don't know if I would recommend the white color there used to be another bath mat of that here but this one got actually really dirty so we ended up actually just recently replacing it with this Stone bath mat from Amazon it's so nice because not only does it really blend in with the floor but it also is Stone so it absorbs water so quickly and I love it it's so nice automatic trash can is from Amazon it's so nice it's battery powered but it's literally like my favorite thing ever in this bathroom this shower curtain is from Target I really love it it's so pretty and I love the print it's like a very very dark green but it basically looks black and I love that too very affordable wipes dispenser hand towels these are from Target this is from Amazon toilet bowl cleaner is from Bed Bath and Beyond and then lastly this shower caddy is from Amazon and it's really nice because it holds everything that you need and then lastly we do have a Squatty Potty I'm telling you The Squatty Potty kind of makes like a very very big difference in your number twos so I would highly recommend a Squatty Potty it was so affordable too and it just like it actually really helps underneath the bathroom we have our under the sink storage I got these two organizers from Amazon I think they're really nice and just it's really good for organization but other than that we just kind of store all of our extra hair products and stuff it looks a little crazy but that's how it looks and then we have these drawers on the side where I just keep my everyday skincare Thomas's skin care and stuff and then just extra samples those are all the drawers in the bathroom okay well that's the whole bathroom I love this bathroom so much especially the dark gray back it's just I feel like it's very unique it's very sleek and I love it when we leave the bathroom this is what you see with our entryway I love the entryway it's very simple we have just a bunch of frames I got these on Amazon and then I just use command strips but I did use a nail for this mirror this mirrors from Bed Bath and Beyond and it's very nice very affordable just kind of does the deed you can kind of look at yourself before you leave and it's just really nice and then these entryway cabinets are actually shoe storage these are from Ikea and these are so unbelievably nice they hold at least two pairs of shoes it's narrow so that it doesn't really take up too much space in your entryway and it's just very very functional I love this so much also very affordable from Ikea I would highly recommend this shoe cabinet if you guys are looking for shoe organization this miss you already signed was a gift from my friend Christina this is from Target and then and then this bowl is actually a gift to from my friend Jess I believe it's from Crate and Barrel and then we just have some potpourri that I got from Michael's and then this little Memorial area here for my dog and then when we leave the entryway this is the bedroom so I got this Sunset lamp to make the dark bedroom a little bit more vibey during the day and I actually really love it it it's clearly very dark in this room that's what the window looks like but it's frosted so it's actually even darker this is basically a den but I would say it's pretty spacious there's room for a whole separate closet unit because my only closet is just these two double doors I'll turn on the light actually and this is what my closet looks like this is everything that I have I think that I honestly did a really good job considering this is all the clothes that I have in my apartment these over-the-door organizers really really come in handy these are from Amazon too and it's just a really good use of vertical space but aside from that here's what the bedroom looks like this floor mirror is from Home Goods I got this a long time ago I think when I first moved out in 2019 and I love it so much it's just a little short for the living room so we've moved it to the bedroom and I think it's perfect these nightstands are matching from Wayfair and I really like them because I feel like they look like West Elm dupe or like Restoration Hardware dupes I really love them I usually keep my bags on the side like this this is just my everyday purse from coach this is a backpack when I need to like work from home somewhere else or if I just need to take my laptop somewhere and then behind that is my base Weekender bag for if I ever have to go home for the weekend although I live in Arlington Virginia I actually grew up in central Maryland so I go home pretty often so I frequently just kind of have to keep everything in the corner there but it's really nice and it's just it's very convenient these two frames for over the bed are from Amazon and I love them so much definitely recommend getting the big size if you have a queen bed because we don't have a headstand but this bed frame is from Zionist and it doesn't have like the headrest or anything so we got these huge frames to put above our bed and I just think it makes the room look so much bigger and I love it it's so pretty this is an Ikea closet unit this is mainly what Thomas uses it's so nice because all the compartments came with it there was no like add-ons or anything so I definitely recommend this if you guys are looking for more closet space and you have the room for something like this I would definitely recommend it I actually also built this with you guys during the moving Vlogs so definitely check that out and then we just have a humidifier on top of this side table this is from I think the side table is from home goods or home sense but something very similar I'll link below nightstand lamps are also from Home Goods these took forever to find but I really like them I really love them because it brings together the brass but it also has a little bit of lightness with the marble and they were very cheap they were only like 45 dollars from Home Goods so it was a very good steal and then on the other side of the bedroom where the entrance is we have another Clothing Rack I got this from Wayfair and we just kind of keep our most used sweatshirts crewnecks just kind of everything that we grab and go very easily we got this clothing rack for that reason and then there's extra storage on the side so I keep all of my perfume and makeup this is where the sunset lamp is and then I just have more makeup storage I have some masks and then all of my like journaling supplies I keep below there because we decided to get this Closet Storage and not an actual dresser that's why we ultimately went with this clothing rack and I really like it it definitely gets the job done okay well that's the best bedroom I will turn off this light so we can go back to our Moody lighting this picture frame is from Amazon I think it's really really high quality it's like a true brass color which I think is just very nice and it also comes in black and white I believe and then the print itself is actually a digital download from Etsy that I printed out on Walgreens so we put this on the side I think it looks really good before I get into the beautiful living room this is also where we keep our walking pad I love it because it's stored vertically and it's just literally the best thing ever to boost my productivity when I'm working from home highly highly highly recommend getting a walking pad I always show you guys me using it too on the daily on the weekly in my work to live series definitely check that out if you want to see what using the walking pad looks like but this is where we store it electrical closet here and then behind the walking pad we also keep our laundry dryer rack because our in-unit washer dryer is right next to it so it's just a very nice convenient realistically this is just kind of where everything lives and then we get into the beautiful living room oh my gosh this is so beautiful every time I come home you guys and I look at this living room with these beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows and just everything it just feels like home we're just gonna go from one side to another so how about we start with this little Nook right here this is a fake eucalyptus plant that I got from Amazon it's genuinely my favorite thing ever specifically because it's not real and I don't have to water it I had a real plant at my last apartment so I just decided to opt out for the real plant this year and get a fake plant but I love this so much it's very very cute and I feel like it's very real looking which I really like so this is the eucalyptus plant and then we have a planter this is also from Amazon next to the planter we have our air purifier that's from Amazon and then when we get to the TV this is like my favorite thing ever I think out of everything in this whole apartment my favorite thing is our TV stand and this is actually an Ikea besta TV stand or storage unit you can design them yourself because the Ikea bestas just have so many customization options but this one you guys oh my gosh this is just the most beautiful TV stand I have ever seen in my whole life if you guys have a besta or if you're looking into getting one I would definitely recommend getting legs because I just think it makes it look a lot more expensive and put together when you actually put legs on the Vesta so yeah this is my favorite thing ever I feel like honestly a lot of places online you see a TV stand like this and it's like Seventeen hundred dollars but this TV stand was I believe maybe three or four hundred definitely so expensive but not as expensive as it looks which is the best and the Ikea besta is really nice because there's just so much storage available so we have cleaning supplies medicine some tools more cleaning supplies and then this is where we keep stuff where if we ever have guests in the night there's just like extra sheets and stuff so the Ikea besta is truly the best thing ever aside from the besta we have the TV this is just a 55 inch Samsung Smart TV it with Govi lights this is like an LED strip that is behind the TV I love this so much because especially at night with all the lights off and the TV light on it just is the best nighttime Vibe ever this fake plant and this candle are both from Target and then this corner lamp is a really good really functional very high quality Corner lamp from Amazon it's from specifically the company bright Tech and I would definitely recommend all the lamps from this company it's just very reliable and then we have our beautiful floor mirror I love this floor mirror so much because this should also be like three four hundred dollars but this is from Ikea this is the hovit mirror and I believe it's maybe 160. for something this tall and this wide it should seriously be like four or five hundred dollars you guys so I would definitely recommend The Hobbit mirror I love this mirror so much it's so big our coffee table is from Amazon it's just very functional it's actually double-sided this is the fake concrete and then on the other side it's fake marble but we like the fake concrete side and I love two-tier coffee tables because you can store stuff underneath so we just have this Tom Ford coffee table book this was a gift and then another marble tray from Amazon the poppier self-care journal on top also this rug and the rug in my bedroom those are both from rugs USA they're very nice I love rugs USA very affordable especially if you're renting there's just no need to spend a lot of money on a rug because these work perfectly fine I love this this actually used to be in my bedroom in my old apartment but then when we moved here because of that beautiful backsplash we decided to use this carpet out in the living room so I think it looks really really nice okay these bookcases this is probably what completed the whole apartment these are from Amazon and I love them so much they're very minimal very like you could almost not see it but I just think that this is the perfect thing that finished the apartment because it adds a lot of color a lot of character and it's also very functional because it holds all of your books so yeah I love it I feel like honestly the bookcase just like completed the whole Space my couch is from castlery and I got this over a year ago almost two years ago now this was in my old apartment too this is the Adams Chase sectional if you're looking for a really good high quality long lasting couch that is under two thousand dollars or maybe now I feel like it might be twenty one hundred dollars now because they've raised their prices in the last two years but couches are honestly like four or five thousand dollars you guys this couch is very affordable for extremely high quality extremely high durability it basically looks like not lived on it basically looks brand new and I'm not kidding you guys I spend so much time on this couch we have guest sleep on this couch it is the best and I would definitely definitely recommend casselery pillow covers blanket and this Seaside table these are all from Amazon I'm clearly a big Amazon girl when it comes to home decor it's just very quick and convenient and I love the seaside table you can use it over the couch like this or you can just kind of leave it on the side like a side table it matches the Vesta and yeah I just I love this side table and then lastly this throw blanket is from italic I love the wooden pieces in this whole apartment I would say that the interior design style for this apartment is very mid-century modern I just wanted to add more warmth more wood more color in this unit because my old unit was very Stark and not a lot of color in it so yeah I feel like this living room area is honestly like the heart of the entire apartment I love it so much next to the living room area is our like workstation so we have like living working dining I actually have a whole separate video about this whole entire couple's his and hers desk setup so I will link that video in the description box the actual work from home setup on my side is a little bit different in that video though so I'm planning on filming a whole separate updated work from home setup yeah all you guys need to know is that the desks are from flexi spot this chair is from foxy spot and then this chair is like a flexi spot dupe from Amazon on each side of our desks we have an Amazon lamp I love these task lamps they're really nice because you can angle them up or down if you need they're also dimmable with that button and they also come in brass but we have the black ones I love them they're very affordable that was a recommendation from Kiva Brent she has these in her house and I just love them so much this led clock I get so many questions on this is from Amazon it's always Linked In My Amazon store but it's really nice because I feel like it adds a lot of balance to the apartment so we have the bookcases like there's a lot going on in the living room space and and then the work from home setup is pretty simple and there's nothing on the wall because these are standing desks so we frequently go up and down a lot so we just decided to keep this part of the wall very minimal and bare so the clock was kind of perfect these are my walking shoes I just got these shoes so I'm currently breaking them in but other than that I use these walking shoes when I use my walking pad and then we have these beautiful like I said floor-to-ceiling windows I love them so much I feel like this is what sold me on the apartment when we were choosing what floor plan in this building to get ideally obviously I wish I wasn't across from another apartment building but that's our sister building and I can't really do anything about it at least we have a good corner where we can see the light and stuff so even though obviously all this kind of sucks at least we have this view on the other side of my desks we have the dining area I love this dining area I feel like it matches really well with the living room and I just feel like it's very cohesive in this whole Space this dining table is from Wayfair and then these chairs are from Target and then in the middle we just have a centerpiece with this anthropology huge coaster I got this as a gift some actual coasters from Amazon and then this really cute like crinkle vase this is from Amazon too and it's just really nice I love the dining room setup I just think it's perfect next to the dining room table we also have this very minimal lamp I don't know if you guys could notice it but I love this lamp this is also from the same company bright Tech that you can find on Amazon it comes with a remote which is really nice it's dimmable you can choose the warmth of the light and everything and it's just it's really nice because at night it can get pretty dark with all these windows being dark obviously so we needed a lamp here but we didn't want something that took up a lot of space so that's why we got this very very minimal floor lamp you basically can't see it which is kind of the point next to the floor lamp we have our little like bar cart Nook area this was the first area that we figured out when we moved into the apartment this is actually a media console that was in my bedroom at my last apartment but we got so lucky that it fit in this little Nook here so we use this as like a coffee area on one side and then my makeup my jewelry and just kind of like my getting ready things are on the other side because we have this beautiful arched mirror from Amazon since this is next to the light I just usually get ready in this space anyways but all of my makeup is in here so that if it's nighttime I can easily take this and just get ready in the bathroom so I love this coffee area Nook it's just so nice and I love the mirror next to the coffee area Nook we have our bar car area this bar cart is from Wayfair and then we also have a hand vacuum at the bottom this just kind of lives wherever throughout the apartment because we use the hand vacuum all the time but I Love This Bar car it's a little bit on the smaller side because I wanted it to fit this little area very perfectly and it does it's so nice and then this neon miss you already sign was a very very special gift from my friends Ricky Selena and my boyfriend Thomas it's so nice especially at night because it also acts as a lamp and I just it's so pretty okay and then lastly we have the kitchen area another really big thing that was important for us when we were looking for apartments was that I really really wanted an island because at my old apartment I didn't have an island it was a much smaller unit and it just made me need an island in my new apartment so we have this beautiful island we have just like a little box here of like nooks and crannies that we use on a daily basis this is from home goods and then this tissue box holder is from Amazon this is a newer find this is a knife block and it's circular and it's just really nice because it holds everything and there's Miss splashes another salt lamp NightLight and then we just have all of our cabinets and stuff so we have cups here on top of the microwave we have like baking items spices and then we have mugs and plates and bowls and stuff above the sink and then we have Pantry items at this very end cabinet so there's a lot of storage in this apartment which was very important to me because as my last apartment didn't really have that much storage below the sink we have my Caraway pots and pans we have our Tupperware lids and then just this little organizer for all of our like cooking utensils my Caraway lids and then I got one of these hooks where we put all of our like oven mitts and stuff so that's underneath the sink and then this is the new kitchen mat that replaced the one that's now in our entryway this was a gift for my mom I have no idea where she got this but it's really nice because it's memory foam and it's really easy to clean and it's blue so it just kind of matches everything one thing I did want to say is that if you guys can see the under the cabinet lights that's not included that was something that I installed I just got this LED strip from Amazon I was truthfully kind of disappointed that this brand new apartment didn't have under the cabinet lighting but it was a very easy fix and especially at night when we don't want to leave the overhead lights on we'll just leave these under the cabinet lights on at night and it's just very perfect we have a silicone drying mat which we just put away when we don't use I have this vase here with some fake flowers I got out from Michael's and then this hand and dish soap organizer is so nice this is from Amazon too and it just looks accidentally better than what I had before like a random soap and a random dish soap and no organizer I didn't think that this would make such a difference but it really does paper towels and then this is my new cookbook that I just got paper towels and then this is my new cookbook that I just got so I just have it kind of displayed here for me to use whenever I want to cook something and then I have my Amazon Echo Show and then this is our vice cooker we eat rice all the time this is actually a gift from Thomas's older sister when we moved into this apartment and it's like the best thing ever cuckoo is the best and then we have our dishwasher and dryer here and on the other side of the island we just have a bunch of snacks my Dad gives us and then we have our utensils and our Tupperware and just kind of other miscellaneous kitchen items in each of these drawers it's also really nice having an island because you have that extra storage so on top of all the cabinets and stuff there's also a little bit more at the island Island we have all of our spices in this drawer and then this cabinet's kind of miscellaneous we just have our Kettle and our smoothie blender and then on the other side of the oven we have all of our like pastas and ramen and rice basically all of our carbs live in this huge cabinet and then below that we have our cleaning supplies and then actually very last thing is our bar stools these are from Wayfair and I just really wanted to get matching blue ones these are like this really beautiful velvet and I love these so much because they match the backsplash so we just have like a very beautiful wood like mid-century modern pop of color type of apartment we even have a matching vase I have no idea where this is from but I stole this from my house in Maryland clearly we've got the blue Vibe going on in this place we do have one set of lights that I didn't turn on but we do have some overhead Lights by the kitchen area we use this when we're cooking but there's actually no overhead light anywhere else in this whole entire unit it's just right here in the kitchen area and then the rest we had to find our own lamps so that is a little bit unfortunate but you just that's what usually apartments are like anyways I feel like I didn't talk about the fridge but clearly it's it's just a fridge there's nothing really special about it I hope you guys enjoyed the support Mentor I truly love this apartment and if you guys have been here since the moving Vlogs this year moving Vlogs from my last apartment I feel like this apartment is very different than the one that I rented before and I think that's just a beauty of renting in general you can kind of choose what style you want to live in and I love the mid-century modern the pops of color just I love this apartment so much it just feels like home and I feel like I did my very best to make it feel like home and I feel like I was successful I love this place so much more or less I hope you guys drew some inspiration from this apartment or you
