all right guys here we go on set off oh six two i think it's what we're doing yeah those six two vortech heads i've drilled them out for studs and guide plates tap them and all that cut spring valve guides down spring pockets down right here the house with a drill press everybody's doing a lot of people doing it by hand i just decided to do it with a drill press because i had one but anyway here's kind of the setup we got just uh if you get a harbor freight drill press nothing special floor mount got a um two-axis device that i had purchased i just had to have that for what i just wanted because it was cool but anyway there's the uh i don't know if y'all can even read that or not that's the 4726 valve guard trimmer and the other one i can't hold 47.29 they're both from comp we just got 3 8 over in it four studs and the other one that's got 11 30 seconds harder you get it right down in the valve guide but let me get you all set up and i'll show you what i'm doing here all right be right back all right guys here we go so all right there you go all right that's pretty much all there is to it now that's cut down for 300 and i think it's 390 000 file seal i forget now which one it is and you can put a double spring on it okay oh we do that i'll see if i can get to this one i had to readjust it to get to that one so we'll go this way something like that line it up so so oh yeah there you go and now these vortech heads will take uh you can get a double spring on it that's the whole idea for this in a standard valve seal so anyway i ain't gonna sit there and let y'all watch me get do every one of these but that's the same thing over and over and over we'll get those done and i'll show you how i pull them how i pull the studs out and i'll show you how to mill these down and get them tapped all right i'll be back a little bit all right guys well here's what's happening when you pull go to pull a stud off and you run the nut too daggone far down and run it out on the thread so now i had to take off one of these old stuff i pulled a good one i don't know what y'all see a good one there that i had already pulled cut it down weld it on top of that stud use a couple sockets as a spacer and hope put a little heat on it and hopefully i can pull that stud out we'll see we'll give it a minute nuts and then just pulling it up happens my washer pull it up match my washers maybe tighten it up and just i got where i won't paying attention i guess let's see what we got i don't know i'll run out of grade eight nuts so we'll see great it's coming [Music] it seems like every time i've ever pulled heads or posters i have a couple on each head that's gonna act like a pool and this is gonna be one let's see if that empire spin it off i don't know no there's something called up these threads i'm sure about to turn my daggone card over uh yeah it's just stripped out all right i'll let it cool down i'll get back we all and we'll get this thing out all right all right guys i got it out i think what i wind up having to do is weld a good stud cut the old part off the threaded part it was boogered up welded another one to it and uh spaced it off with a deep well half inch drive socket and uh kept playing with it put a little heat to it anyway got it out so anyway i'm gonna call it a day and i guess tomorrow we will see if we can't get these things milled down for them and fixed up for the screw-in studs all right guys see all right guys we're back i told you i'll bring you back when i got ready to cut the stud bosses down and here's the deal i got i got a just a drill press with a two-axis vise bolted down uh uh y'all see it but uh there's a piece of angle right there and i got a piece of angle here just to help stabilize and keep it from walking and it sits on top over here but it's locked in from the bottom side so you can't can't really go nowhere and i got my dip set what i needed to take off locked it down on the locked it down on the handle here so i can only cut so deep and uh you know you got you uh i have two cranks for a fine adjusting both ways you know either way you want to go anyway let me get you all set up and we'll get right and cut a couple of them all right all right maybe you better see it all right i hope so all right let's go there you but you'll spend probably a couple hours or i will getting my bag on angles like they're supposed to be and everything's true you know i've seen guys doing it with hand drills and i think it works just fine but you know that's not the way i want to do it um i got a good friend i go to a guest room and uh he's done all this man a few hundred dollars to have it done whatever i um all right that one's done remember my voice will crank over for and i'm gonna have to readjust the head yeah i'm gonna readjust the head and we'll grab we'll grab another one real quick see that's the thing having these pieces of angle i can sit there and line it right back up and my angle will fall right back in place crank that there like that there and we're you know there a thing guys doing it you know throw it down to a block of wood or a table and take a hand drill and do it you know if that pilot did wasn't longer that would be too bad you know where they're all uh [Music] there we go and there we go i think the next set i do um i'm gonna fix me up i think i'm gonna fix me a table that's probably which i'm gonna get this drill press mounted down so it can't move and be a little more solid but i'm thinking i'm gonna build me a table like three foot wide so 12 inches or whatever wide and mount the table to this vise then i'll be able to crank device any way i want but it would give me a more level playing field for the head you know if you had a big platform for the head to sit on just less chances of something going on oh that didn't that didn't like that i don't know what i've done i got something might have killed her a little bit um engine shock we use these exact same bits to do it and he says is anyway that's what we're doing um [Music] okay i'll get the calipers and checked out but anyway let me take you over here and show you what this other head i finished up last night and uh yeah s10 is still sitting right there but that's uh then you know a little bit but that's what they'll look like when they're through yeah screw studs guide plates mill down for standard i forget now 390 000 for something like that valve seals now you can put a double spring on it not have to worry about it and like so you may have to adjust these valve guides with i've got just to push rod guide plates a little bit but that ain't a biggie you know and all this just stuck together so i'm going to take all this back apart you know put some kind of thread sealer on it to make sure no water comes up in here because every one of those have gone down into or screwed down into the water jackets anyway that's what we got guys that does six two vortech head milled up and ready to go all right let me finish this other one and i'll get back we all want to go to tapping them all right
