hi welcome back to PC Builder I'm Jason GPU prices in October 2023 are totally insane right now we've seen massive price cuts by both Nvidia and EMD and get this Intel we just had Amazon Prime day and we're going to look at GPU prices with an eye towards Black Friday we'll also take a look at the best price performance GPU at every budget level including 1440p 1080P and 4K remember if you get value out of the video give it a like CU it makes a huge difference in the channel and of course subscribe click that Bell icon that way you get notified when we release cool content with that let's jump into it this video is sponsored by Best Buy where you can get the essential gear you need for gaming and streaming like this AMD powered Lenova Legion slim 5 gaming laptop with a ryzen 7640 HS CPU and links in the video description let's jump into Nvidia GPU pricing cuz this is where we're seeing the big price the big price Cuts including on Prime day now I'm filming this right after Amazon Prime day so all those huge discounts are effectively gone right now we're seeing Baseline pricing but I think some of those prices which will pepper in as we go through not listed in the column here under October but I will Pepper them in as we go through I think that's going to prend where these GPU prices are going to go during Black Friday and I also think it's just really interesting to see Nvidia giving away on we never cut prices BS they are clearly cutting prices including this month again and I expect to see that continue let's start off though with some bad news let's start off with the RTX 490 because I think if you've been waiting to buy an RTX 490 think they're going to come down below MSRP I would say think again there have been some reports nvidia's constraining supplies of 490 and you see here it's actually gone up by $50 from the MSRP of599 to 1649 if we take a look at some of the models available also kind of concerning I didn't initially believe those rumors that Nvidia was going to constrain Supply on the 49s but if you look at it there's may be some truth to it 1649 on the gigabyte model here that's $50 over MSRP then they pretty quickly go well over ,700 up to $1,800 and I will say a number of the models kind of in between just aren't being sold anymore or they're completely out of stock a lot of the MSI uh models are out of stock use tough models out of stock some of the RO stricks models are out of stock I'll also note that a lot of the models that used to be listed here aren't even listed on newg anymore so I'm a little concerned about the supply for a 490 if you've been waiting to buy a 490 till Black Friday you thinking you're going to get some great deal yeah I I don't know if that's going to work out for you on the other hand let's look at the RTX 480 kind of ta two gpus here now it's only come down 1% to 1, 89 10 bucks big deal you say Jason what is going on with the 480 but let's talk about the sales prices that we saw on Amazon Prime the RTX 486 gigabyte get all the way down to $989 now on Prime day last time there was an MSI Ventus model at $9.99 just interesting that there's clearly some trial balloons being put out there uh by Nvidia Partners in terms of what what can they actually get this GPU to move at this thing seemed to move pretty well at 9.89 I didn't sell out of course this was at Amazon not even at new EG so it'll be interesting to see but this was definitely a prime day sale that was out there no real movement on the 4070 TI but let's talk about the RTX 470 because Nvidia actually made huge price Cuts right after I released my video last month further price Cuts just in the last week here further price Cuts just in the last week and they seem to be sticking this does not seem to be just a one-off so this is a Zotac gaming RTX 470 after the discount code newway you got to put the money in there how much is that discode count worth I hate having to add it to the cart every single time just to see it it's $10 did spoiler alert so this gets down to $519 now this was a GPU that just a month ago cost $589 so we've seen some massive price cuts on it Zotac seems to be Leading The Way I Know Zotac is more of a discount brand or a seemingly a cheaper brand of Nvidia GPU partner out there gigabyte and others 549 but I will note a couple more models continue to fall from that five 99 price point down further the all-white one the MSI Ventus now 559 so we we are definitely seeing some of those kind of breaks in in terms of the overall MSRP and a break with Nvidia saying basically wo we never do price reductions they're clearly doing some price reductions 4060 TI 16 gab model further price reductions down to $429 right now now last month we covered that they went down to$ 4.49 from $4.99 clearly continuing to cut the price now this is a Fant fantastic deal however this was available before fantastic started we'll have to see if it sticks around afterwards this is again another Zotac model out there but you can see 449 seems to be the new MSRP and we it's tracking pretty closely to the 7700 XT we'll talk about in just a moment we go through AMD GPU pricing because they've also had some huge price cuts and then we got 460 K down 10 bucks no change on the RTX 460 still at 289 looking at Nvidia older generation gpus the RTX 370 is down to 359 that's 5% that's nice 20 bucks basically it continues to track just below the RTX 460 TI price they both have 8 gigs of vram which is kind of the challenge of those cards but if you look the really interesting one is the RTX 360 12 GB card because it's got 12 gigs of vram and look at that $249 GPU continues to fall in price now it's not the most performative but again it's got 12 gigs of vram which is what a lot of people want because then you can actually quote unquote future prooof your card you can play all titles without having to turn things down to medium and if we look right here another Zotac card now it says fantastic deal however this GPU has been at this price before the Fantastic sale they just slapped the slapped the label on top of it because it is the best RTX 362 GB card right now and this is the card that we used in our $600 1440p 60fps build you can check that out on our October builds down in the video description before we jump into AMD GPU pricing let's jump into Intel because there's some super interesting things and it's not even the most interesting thing that they just launched a new GPU which is the a580 we'll talk more about that in the new section look at those price Cuts look at those price cuts down 18% on the a770 now the only one we look at there is an 8 gigabyte I don't look at it really the interesting thing about this is is 16 gigabyt on the a770 269 for 16 gabyt of vram look at that it's actually the Acer Predator bifrost model $299 with a $30 promo code that's 269 on a nice premium level GPU we'll talk more about whether or not you should buy it later in the video but that's pretty interesting there are some other models here down 279 but they're all around that price point the a750 $189 down to19 I feel like Intel's listening to me I really smacked them around in the last video saying why are you raising the price on that thing to 219 it has to be competitive with the RX 6600 and they're like okay we're going to make it competitive in fact we're going to make it 10 bucks cheaper for the RX 6600 spoiler alert for the price on the 6600 and sparkles sparkles out there cutting prices on this I will say you can even get the Acer Predator bifrost model for $1.99 if you want to pay $10 more right now starting to seem like pretty good value and of course the GPU that just launched the arc a580 will go through the price of performance just a second 179 I think that's a little expensive for this GPU given where the a750 is given where the RX 6600 is but it's nice to see gpus launching well under $200 what what is this 2019 again what is going on here let's jump over to AMG GPU pricing I will note that none of the Prime Day deals again are reflected in that October column we will go through one or two of them as we go because there there were some big AMD GPU price cuts for Prime day as they almost always are AMD just typically does Make It Rain I will note however big change as of SE the end of September there is no more Starfield bundle so if you care about Starfield you're no longer going to get it bundled with the card and as a result I think that's maybe why we've seen some of these GPU prices Cal down because they're no longer giving that bundle away let's start off with the RX 7900 X Y down to 889 8889 it actually got even a little bit cheaper on a couple of flash sales during Prime day just slightly cheaper though and you can pick this up right now right now powercolor hellhound if you take the promo code off it's $20 New Egg put the dollar amount in the promo codes come on this is $889 there's similarly an ASRock Phantom gaming model here take the $4 promo code you did it right there why is that so hard $929 that makes it $9.89 and you can even get one of the you know very nice Sapphire pulse ones for just $10 more but the big one I think a lot of people are wondering about is the RX 7900 XT down to $719 right now you can pick that up right now down 8% and that's pretty nice except I will say during Prime day it got even lower this is a deal that we put out on Amazon not even at new EG which typically has the lowest prices this was at Amazon $699 for the XFX Merc version now it's a very long card it's like 334 mm got to check your case compatibility with XFX but that's a nice price I don't want to create a false expectation for Black Friday but looking ahead to Black Friday I would expect to see these kinds of deals probably even a little bit cheaper out there so those of you who've been hoping something would calm down this might be the card 7800 XT no real change $4.99 the only change is stuff is actually in stock you can get pretty much any model you want now couple are still sold out at the more premium side but let's talk about the 7700 XT the card we kind of dumped on last month when it first launched because of this stupid MSRP and I'm going to call it stupid again of $449 we're already seeing and I told you this was going to happen in less than 30 days we are already seeing card companies break ranks with that look at this Sapphire pulse $4.49 but with a $20 promo code that's clearly being offered through the manufacturer not through new EG 42 9 and I will note gigabyte just selling it straight up for $439 we and again the ASRock Challenger model $449 with a $20 promo code to $429 whether or not $429 still makes it one of the better price and performance gpus we can find out later in the video I still think there might be more for this GPU to come down the RX 7600 just continues to fluctuate between that $230 $240 Price Point Let's round out with the RX 6000 series cards there really only two cards I'm interested in quick side note 6800 XT why is that thing almost 500 bucks I suspect it's because the 7800 XT was out of stock now it's back in stock especially around Black Friday keep an eye on that card for future discounts but the cards that I'm really interested in the RX 6800 16 gigs of vram performs the same as the 7700 XT but it's 3.99 way better value in my opinion and you don't need some crazy Prime deal to get that you can get that right now at Amazon again links are down in the video description check them out side did this with their higher end RX 6800 nxe and they're completely sold out so I think the companies have made a decision it's time to liquidate these cards because they're effectively BL blocking the 7700 XT kind of floating to the price they'd like to keep it at and then we got the 6700 XT 6750 XTS it's 6% faster they're effectively the same card $39 down to 309 right now and I will say these are not the cheapy cards anymore these are some of the premium cards like the sapphire pulse 6700 XT here but during Prime day as it did in July it went in October to$ 299 and it wasn't just the cheaper models like the powercolor fighter version it was some of the nicer versions like the XFX uh Swift version here for 299 so again if you missed out on these deals on this time for Black Friday I would expect to see at least a 299 deal maybe even lower and if we look at the rest of the market effectively not a lot of change 6600 stays at 199 6650 continues to float towards $200 come on we know you can get under 200 bucks and again I would just say if you're buying a card with 8 gigs of vram this is around the price point or lower I would look at let's jump into the GPU news and if you missed it Intel launched a GPU a whole GPU and not just a boring GPU like the A380 we got the a580 they promised it to us last year we just got it 8 gigs of V Ram slightly cut down from the a750 and the price on this 179 now there's a number of reasons including price cuts on other gpus why 179 may not be the right price for this GPU but this is the first GPU in this performance class we'll go over that in just a moment to actually launch under 200 USD oh my goodness what is going on here the GPU Market is healing and it's dragging everything in the budget segment and higher down with it which we love to see let's quickly go through the performance listen basically it's an RX 6600 at some games it outperforms to 6600 by quite a bit other games it underperforms to 6600 and then there are a couple titles where it just broken like Starfield for instance gamer NEX has tested the new driver that was supposed to up the FPS by 149% folks just be aware of percentage if you only get 10 fps to begin with a 149% increase is only 24.9 FPS so as Mark Twain said there are three kinds of Lies there's lies damn lies and and then there's statistics and this is a statistic so just be aware of that the one area that of performance that a little kind of underwhelming here was power usage 189 FPS is what Tom's Hardware found I'll leave their whole review Linked In the video description go ahead and read the whole thing is really really interesting I'm hopeful that they're able to get that under control with some future driver updates the way that AMD did with the 7900 XT and XTX they were able to reduce power usage over time with those cards so that would be super super nice but I think if we're looking at this in terms of overall value we'll look at it in terms of the best price and performance gpus later in the video I just think that 179 that may have been a good price like three or four months ago I think it needs to go lower now especially with the a750 is only 10 bucks more but I do love seeing gpus launch in the under $200 budget segment even if you're not interested in buying a GPU under $200 I think it just helps claw everything down a little bit so yay competition finally in the GPU news Nvidia saying it's going to move from releasing gpus every two years to every single year but before you get too excited it's AI gpus of course it's AI gpus what you think it was for gamers come on man this is an interesting article in Tom's Hardware they're basically analyzing us a a series of slides that were released to Nvidia stockholders so this is all on the record stuff I'll leave the article Linked In the video description it's basically goes into how not just Nvidia AMD and kind of traditional GPU players but also on web services wants a bite at this thing Google's looking to take a big bite at this thing and Nidia is looking to stay one step ahead of them by basically accelerating its launches now in order to do that let's just take a look at the slide that was released obviously tons more resources they're buying up uh production capability at tsmc right now for silicon production so they're they're aggressively making this move will they actually be able to do it I don't know but they're it's it's here on paper they're planning for it they're planning to do it and in terms terms of what does this mean for gaming GPU releases it's not clear it could do anything from accelerate them to delay them right depending on where Nvidia decides to put its resources especially if it starts to get resource constrained trying to make these every year deadlines so it's really tough to say some of these architectures are going to be shared with gaming gpus others are not like hopper for instance so who knows where this is going to go as the GPU Market continues to develop let's jump into the best price of performance gpus in October 2020 3 if you're not familiar with how we do this we take all the gpus that we're tracking 8 gigs of vram or more in 2023 and we take their price both new and used if we can get a 40% or better discount used then we divide it by their performance which we compare against an rx570 and we get a price to Performance we sort them then in 1080P 1440p and 4K to get the winners remember this spreadsheet is available down in the video description there's a link there you can jump in these are us-based prices you can put in your own prices starting off with the best GPU under $200 in October 2023 look at that three brand new gpus in this category remember when this category was nothing but used gpus how far we've come during the GPU crisis and now the GPU Market actually turning very very good if you only have about $100 maybe $50 to $100 obviously rx570 RX 580 still remain super good values out there anywhere from 56 to 64 honestly get the 580 over the 570 if you've got closer to $100 I do like the GTX 1070 still now down to $90 $90 for that thing although I will say 5700 XTS are just stupidly insane value right now $116 they continue to fall yes you're more than likely going to end up with a mining one because that's where all they got sold to and miners are now dumping whatever gpus they have left they are no longer waiting for mining to resurface anymore the hold outs are gone at this point if if you move up the food chain a little bit more I do like the 1080 TI at $163 it's getting a little older and as we've seen in testing by like hardware and box and others not getting as many updates in terms of overall performance as some of the other newer gpus that's why I do like brand new right now I like the ark a750 as long as you're willing to put up with maybe a couple games where it just doesn't work like Starfield like brand new on relase titles you may have to wait a month or two to be able to play them yeah maybe that's good enough you maybe not otherwise I really do like the RX 6600 unfortunately I think the AR a580 in terms of its usability not being there with the RX 6600 it just needs to come way down in price jumping over the best high FPS 1080p GPU so this is where the graphics score is 180 or higher and it's got 10 gigs or more of vram and it costs less than $350 here is my big shock my big shock the Intel Arc a770 has leapfrogged like literally everything here at 269 again you're going to have to put up with a couple of titles like Starfield on release you may not be able to play them day one just big caveat there if that's not cool for you I'd pick up something like the Riden RX 6700 or the RTX 362 gigabyte about the same price point or I'd wait another month and you will definitely be able to pick up I believe an RX 6700 XT again for under $300 it's already about 300 bucks right now any of those gpus really really good values if you want something that's got still quite a bit of punch to it 11 gigs of vram you don't mind buying used the RTX 2080 TI is a pretty good value moving over to the best 1440p GPU so this is where the GPU score is 220 or greater and we got 12 gigs or more of vram this is a top 10 technically it's a top 11 because every time I leave the 470 off because it doesn't make the list everyone says where's the 4070 I've included it this time it's number 11 out of 10 not great not terrible either let's go to the top of the list though look at that Arc a770 my goodness again though caveats with that are you may not play all the games you want it to play right now you may have to wait for Intel to release some drivers on that and continue to move the needle on it but in terms of price to Performance it's a absolute beast and I love what it's doing for the market in terms of other gpus here let's focus on the new ones we'll go over the used ones in just a moment because they're higher performance but they cost a lot more money too RX 6700 XT great pickup 3060 is not terrible in terms of price and performance here RX 6800 though in terms of the raw performance look at that raw performance that you get for $3.99 if you want to move up more frames that's definitely where I'd look and then we're talking quite a bit more performance at the bottom but quite a bit more cost too in terms of the 7800 XE and the 4070 jumping over to 144p high FPS so this 1440p 240 Herz targeted refresh rate effectively in those competitive shooters that will allow you to get that kind of frame ratees and look at that if you're open to buying a used option something like an RTX 3802 Gaby not the 10 gab the 12 gab or an RX 6900 XT somewhere in that $450 to $500 range those are great options right now again used options good in terms of price to Performance and they kind of crush everything else out there but In fairness all the other things are brand new they come with warranties no one's ever used those cards before so let's jump into those new options 6800 XT 7800 XT 4070 even the 6950 XT out there while they kind of you know in a stack rank it seems like they're further apart they're real realistically in terms of price and performance they're all smashed together right there you can kind of take your pick honestly for me I like the 7800 XT or the 470 I would go New Gen right now New Gen and I would kind of ditch the older Generation stuff similarly with this super high FPS stuff we'll see in just a moment with the like 4 okay it's honestly AMD or used Nvidia are your best options here I do like that 3090 or 3090 TI for about $730 use especially if you're going to use professional level applications that need tons and tons of vram finally it the best 4K gaming GPU so this is ultra settings and again we have raised this limit up to 430 for the GPU score vram stays the same at 16 gigs honestly it's it's hard to go inidia here unless you're going to go for a 4490 which is the king of gpus we all know that but the price continues to go up and look at the price performance not good on that card but look the top card is never good in terms of price and performance it's good in terms of performance if you want something that's still got really good performance 7900 XT 7900 XTX those are great gpus again with the used RTX 390 is another option out there only 732 I say only the main obstacle here for NVIDIA is its current generation gpus just lack the vram they lack the vram necessary to be true 4K cards now and into the future they're probably fine for 98% of the titles now but what's going to happen in a couple years similar to the 4080 I like it much better and you can see it would be much better at that $980 price that we saw on Prime day than that stupid $1,100 price it is right now let's play everyone's favorite game should you buy now or should you wait well honestly ah if you miss Prime Day deals this time around and in July ouch ouch ouch I don't know how much better GPU prices are going to be and some of the stuff might sell out between now and then you may roll the dice and you might get a great deal on Black Friday it's hard to say I guess we're going to find out one way or the other let's start off with the highend of the market what would I say to high-end buyers right now if you want a 490 buy it now I would not wait it's clear that Nvidia is doing some something is going on with 490 Supply out there whether it's intentional or not it's hard to say maybe it's just supply chain Logistics and kind of other things not fitting together right but 490 prices do seem to be going up 490s do seem to be kind of going out of stock in a lot of places so if you wanted a 4090 I wouldn't try and wait for another $30 or $40 off you may end up spending an extra hundred bucks and kind of kicking yourself down the road but if you're kind of more in the market for like a 4080 I would wait I definitely think we're going to see those kind of sale prices come back around Black Friday on the AMD side they typically make it rain 7900 XT I don't really know how you get much below $699 which is what we saw on Prime day remember they're not going to sell these things at cost or under cost they're not going to lose money on these gpus so don't expect the moon but we can expect to see some I think some pretty good deals on Black Friday at this point i' I'd hold off if you're more in the mid-range I would definitely wait I think we're going to see some big discounts on like the 6800 XT if you don't mind buying that GPU later in Black Friday as they try and kind of get rid of all those things in terms of like the 6,800 if you're coming down that far in the mid-range I wouldn't necessarily wait I'd go ahead and buy 3.99 I mean how much more you going to save on that thing right another 20 bucks I think there's a danger of them completely selling out and then you're going to buy what I think is probably an inferior product in the 7700 XT with only 12 gigs of vram on the Nvidia side the 470 I don't know is it's going to get much cheaper than $519 but you may see different models other than the zot one I know some of you out there will not buy a ATT card if you're a budget buyer right now it depends if you're a budget buyer in the New Market I think you've got plenty of GPU options out there I don't know how much more Black Friday pricing is going to be but it's not going to hurt you to wait I think another six weeks until Black Friday right now although that you know $249 RTX 3060 again Nvidia do not off and cut prices I might pick that one up and then of course at the ultra budget level you might see some discounts especially on like the 6600 non XT you might see the 6650 XT fall under $200 you might see like the a580 fall down a little bit in price I think it has to come down in price and of course the used Market is not going anywhere so you can just go ahead and safely wait and know that you're going to still be able to get good used deals out there if those new deals don't pan out remember if you got value out of this video give it a like it makes a huge difference Channel especially this guy right here and of course subscribe click that Bell icon that way you get notified when we release cool content speaking of cool content check out our amazing builds for October right here we do three amazing builds starting at a $600 that's right $600 1440p gaming build and we'll catch you on the next one
