me and jack met and uh i remember what he said then it's important to have people you can turn to you know like family when you go to war as a boy you have a great illusion of immortality other people get killed not you then when you are badly wounded the first time you lose that illusion rest easy to see in the major leagues jack [Music] how are you all doing how are we all doing i might need this there thank you man we are we are now live on youtube and people are very very excited to see you mate have you been cool very good we're we're staying busy yeah we're doing our best to stay busy so yeah how about yourself where are you where are you located thereabouts in australia melbourne australia have you ever been burnt got it melbourne okay keep going you've never been i've never you know my family lives on guam and my brother my dad uh just retired he was a endodontist root canal specialist very interesting um and my brother is also a general dentist out there so hightower dentals for those out there on guam that's my family but uh wow they had an opportunity they went to i guess it's a very tourist place carn con cans yeah cans canes caves so they went there uh they had trouble with the food a little bit but i'm sure oh no really to eat out there oh no their palates weren't weren't accustomed to the delicacies just like you dan you probably have never had menudo i don't think i have what's that yeah and it's an acquired it's definitely an acquired taste it's what a lot of folks in latin countries eat it's a soup and it's got tripe and all kinds of stuff it's supposed to be a good hangover cure oh because of all the grease and goodness in it wow where are you based out of my california i'm in california but i'm i'm out in the mountains i'm in uh oh lake arrowhead oh how is it up there did i just dox myself i think you're all right arrowhead it's a big enough place yeah go ahead talk to me talk to me about this role mate is this [ __ ] would you say this your biggest role yet jackie and cyberpunk or what i i would probably definitely so up there i did uh some star wars stuff a few years ago maybe a year or two ago star wars resistance the animated show that was pretty big uh but yeah definitely as far as exposure this has been probably one of the biggest roles so i had no idea yeah we what were you auditioning for do you remember at the time what do you mean outside of cyberpunk no as in like because you know how they always give it code names and things like that and you never really know right yeah they did they did i did yeah there was a code name i can't even oh well i i can't even i'm such a little i'm such a big mouth when it comes to stuff so i have to you got to restrain yourself yeah why would you say that you know that was supposed to be top secret now we got to sue you [Laughter] um i mean when did you figure when did you know it was going to be cyberpunk 2077 and and the the role was locked away well those are two different things one was the demo they just said yeah we're doing this demo for this uh games conference or i think it was it may have been e3 e3 yeah i had no idea and then uh i went oh okay let me check that demo out and uh oh okay and even then i'd never really even heard of cyberpunk so i wasn't familiar that it went back into the 80s and tabletop type stuff and then uh as far as it being locked again there was no announcement it was just oh yeah you're here to record to be in the game i'm like oh okay so so it was really a really special thing early on it was still you still treat the jobs as important though yeah you know i wasn't sure what it was but i knew that i had to uh i wanted to give best performance i could do a really good job for whoever's my boss at the time right yeah yeah it's it's always an important thing for me to uh to make sure to you know put my best foot forward i think that's every actor though so when did you actually know that this thing was going to be the big leagues big time not to not to quote the character himself but um when did you realize the magnitude of the game i still don't [Laughter] i don't know why i'm talking to you right now dan i'll be honest with you what's going on i'm just a yeah just a a humble little latino guy that lives in the mountains it's glad to work that's yes i mean yeah try not to even think about that stuff even when star wars came came out uh you you can't you can't think of the magnitude or it'll throw you well for me at least personally it throws you off you just have to you know you're in a little room and it's you and the mic and the director and maybe some producers sometimes and you do and you do your thing yeah don't think about that stuff because it does it would throw me off but uh yeah i mean i guess it's pretty big pretty big i have to say mate you're probably my favorite character if not second favorite in the game only because you know they they did i feel like they killed you off a little bit early personally it's okay and i know you've probably heard that off heard that a lot haven't you yeah because every video with jackie wells um it's just why did they kill him off you know which is a testament to you so well i appreciate it yeah i mean we performed it we we recorded a lot of it not necessarily linearly so i would go in and do blocks of scenes and so i still haven't seen how it all turned out to be really yeah you haven't looked it up or anything or played no i mean i've watched people play some things but it's still in little blocks i've watched the whole the whole thing to it it's tough to watch yourself i think probably uh i'm probably not the only one that feels oh no it's tough to hear your your voice you're going who is that are we doing okay it's hard to rate yourself so it's great to get good feedback from folks i'm glad it was positive mostly most i don't think there was a negative comment about your character that i've ever seen seriously somebody i think i saw somewhere somebody said that jackie was a uh let me see if the word is chris a simp what is it oh yeah okay i don't know about that he's a romantic okay yeah what's wrong with that he's a charming guy no apparently if you're macho and you have manners apparently that makes you uh i don't know a lesser a lesser i don't know i hope you're not done with a character though cause i know they've got some dlcs planned and i'm i'm praying you're in one let's just say that well i can officially say that i have not heard anything [Laughter] this just did jason hightower denies coming back yeah exactly crazy uh you gotta watch what you say don't you i know far out oh which makes it not fun sometimes you know i know i know let me turn you up a little bit but if if you were to come back you would say yes at a heartbeat surely well you know i mean gosh i mean the numbers have to be right [Laughter] yeah they have to be right i mean it has to be a seven figure at least i mean how do we how am i supposed to live in california [Laughter] um i've got a question question here from phosphates he says question for jason did you meet gavin or share me and interact with them at all uh yes sure sure me yes sharami had very nice things this actually had her on a few weeks ago she had very nice things to say about you well then i guess i got a sooner no she's wonderful she's uh very much a sometimes you meet people and they have a glow about them and she definitely had that very very just really good energy so it was it was cool and then i got to they would play back some things and so we got to work off of each other a little bit uh with playbacks but we all record at least for myself i don't remember recording with anyone else so yeah so you never actually met her like when you were recording no i mean i met her i met her you did yeah okay we got to meet yeah i wouldn't know her glow unless i did yeah no right okay but just no recording live i guess together yeah no no we were recording in separate rooms there was one time where we were recording in a separate room separate rooms but you got to meet in the sort of the the uh the open area there yeah what about gavin gavin now i think gavin's uh europe europe oh of course yeah yeah yeah i think he's ivory irish yeah of course right i just presume all these actors are in in california or l.a now and they're just hanging out yeah you know each other's pool waiting to be in the same thing together they're all in the same house in their cages until they're released to do their little [Laughter] uh i wish i wish but no i know um just vincent says dude what was your reaction to johnny silverhand cut keanu being in the game that that was another one where i was like are you i mean as if they couldn't get more outlandish as far as what i'm involved with because voiceover is a very you know it's it's a very kind of you're on your own independent type thing sometimes we do for star wars we record it all together in the same place which it's cool it makes a difference yeah sitting there and you're you you've got all that that play so that does make a difference but it's not always the case and so you have to uh bring your bring your creativity with you in that room i don't know how you did it so well i really don't i i tap into for me you know some people might have different they were trained in different places or some people maybe aren't they're just naturals whatever but i i tend to uh just dig into life experiences i mean i've never been shot but i have i was quite a drinker when i was in my 20s sorry to anybody who knew me in my 20s um and uh so i've had some you know some run-ins with with uh just doing dumb stuff putting hands through windows and yeah you know stabbing myself yeah all sorts of [ __ ] yeah just dumb 20-year-old stuff no offense to anybody who's in their 20s i'm sure you're doing much better than i did don't stab yourself uh mungo says jason's portrayal of jackie made it the in the legendary books of gaming history in his opinion how's that for a wrap well i mean i i thank you again i always give give praise and tribute to the writers they're the on you know the unsung unspoken heroes of of storytelling they are the storytelling so they have a lot to do with it as well as the direction directing i got to work with a fellow that i had met i met him doing lego stuff at warner brothers and his name is pierce pierce o'toole and he's a latino too so jason hightower pierce o'toole you'd never know and he was just fantastic young guy and uh we really connected and i could understand what he was saying what what when he knew it he was like i like that one i like that choice so we'd give multiple choices and he'd pick him so it was really good good great direction so there's a lot of things that go into that to uh to making it what it is so i mean i was a part of it and i really appreciate that that statement but there was there was a whole team behind that and i know this isn't your first video game is it you were in uh some of the lego games red dead final fantasy um few others yeah i think rage i think rage wow yeah i played a kind of an older fella sort of a grizzled veteran that gives advice and stuff like that it's a pretty big role was that was that back in 2008 excuse me but whenever it came out 2010 it may have been i yeah um now it would have been earlier maybe four years five years ago maybe oh okay okay even not even oh rage two rage two ah okay yeah yeah yeah oh that was a good game you'll hear me in there yeah yeah and you and i'm guessing you're getting a lot more work now after this role surely um yeah i mean i it's pretty steady it's pretty steady it's not like you know it's ringing off the hook it's not crazy yeah yeah yeah yeah but i'm sure it just a lot of things are timing as well it's just these are huge projects so there's a lot of moving parts obviously and a lot of things that go into it so maybe they're in development on something and they haven't started casting so who knows yeah that's the thing i know a lot of games are close at the moment and we're going to see a flood at the end of this year and next year so then it'll probably start to pick up probably next year i would say and then you know you've got covert as well so right right yeah but it's a lot of it's definitely a lot of work and the voiceover part is not even close to it right i've mentioned this before if anybody takes five minutes to even try and learn to do unity or unreal engine to try and do even indian development you'll see you'll see first and foremost that there's a already a wall in front of you called programming you gotta learn plus or c-sharp i tried to do that last year tried to oh yeah you're dabbling in dabbling into indie type stuff yeah and notification and as well as you know game development but there's a lot a lot to it isn't it man oh man i wish people if people did that they would appreciate it a little bit more when they play games like that took a lot of programming to get that huge effect to get that i know yeah are you so you're looking to do your own game down the line or what just dabbling yeah i think for for me early on i'm i'm just trying to get into animation and things like that you know i came from a background in chicago the whole improv world for me was um what i learned most besides really great acting training is yeah how to create your own your own work to be a creator first and foremost that's what's so great about youtube and and you know what you do yeah is creating creators are everything and uh and be your own storyteller really there's no reason why you can't be we have the technology to do it back in the day maybe 20 30 years ago it was all studio based which is nothing wrong with that because there's a lot of leverage there with uh human resources and they can pull a lot of things together but there is something really really important to say about indie development and creation in that regard yeah for sure i always try to support indies especially down here in australia it's some of it's so special and it you can really tell a lot of it is as i've said before the word labor of love you can really oh yeah unfortunately it takes so much time to build one of these things and you see it and if so if it doesn't go well yeah it can be better out of luck yeah there's some cool documentaries on that there was uh there was one about a guy who made uh i think it was called meat man or something where he was just sort of this boxed character and maple shows me meat boy maybe yeah i think and it tells his story as well as some other guy's stories and just how man i mean it's a that's a not a glamorous life but really special what they do game development it it takes all of your skill sets and puts it into one so you got that technical and you need that that artistic side as well so that's why i think for the longest time you'd see video games that didn't really emphasize or push the story as much as the mechanics of a game right so less on storytelling maybe or less on needing good acting and good voice over folks or any of that kind of stuff so when they can pull it together it's it's quite a feat yeah it's good to hear that you've got an approval appreciation for that because a lot of actors sort of don't know do they they don't know the ins and outs um yeah you're probably right yeah yeah you know that's just how it is uh question for jason what's sort of [Laughter] me what sort of mischief do you think jackie and v got into in those six months we don't see i don't know there might have been a fool-around moment you never know but i mean i think there there are moments where he he's very i think he's more brotherly than anything else and he yeah kind of respects those boundaries in many ways yeah that's that's at least what what i what i imagined when i did him that he was you know the one the one dude that she could uh count on you know yeah uh what was your favorite uh line from jackie from ben hillman i i need a multiple choice okay give me a couple then if you want i think there was one that where he said where he does he somebody asked me in a previous interview what would as a straightforward question yeah would you like to just be a nobody or go out in a blaze of glory and they're like uh well i'll tell you and i answered it all seriously but it turns out it's just a line from i'm all serious well you see nobody can go out in a blaze of glory i mean can't they that's what i do every day try to go out in the blaze of glory try to get as much done as possible so you reckon it's that one maybe so maybe so i don't i if i knew if i remembered them all i would i know that's the thing there's so many isn't there how long did you how many res sessions did you actually do there were a lot it was over a few years so a few years yeah wow i mean maybe two two two years uh yeah because there was the development with the demo and then um and then the game i didn't think i was gonna be in it much to be honest uh but i did when i did come in that day and found out that i was dying i was sitting in a chair waiting to do my job and i'm like that's so cool biggest game ever jackie wells here we go and he's dead what no you know you're like there's an actor you're the actor brain is like but this was gonna be you know and uh and it does it sinks you in your stomach a little bit all but fun aside it was uh it was pretty rough but then i had to think more like as an actor and how am i going to do all of this and so it was uh quite a quite a stretch as an actor to be able to to to get to do all that so i don't regret their choice uh it was uh you know important for me as an actor i learned a lot in the process being able to to to make those switches emotional switches in a four-hour period you know they were all four hour sessions and those four hours went by so fast so would you let's say you're recording for the opening with the nomad the street kid and the corpo the different versions would you do them back to back the different versions of because you know how everything sort of plays out differently i guess sometimes anyway you know i didn't even know what i was doing it was just you're there you're in the desert and you're this is the situation right here right now this is what you have to do ah okay kind of thing there wasn't a whole lot of let's give you the essentially the bible on jackie his whole past life or whatever this was something that was in many ways discovered along the way which was interesting cool i think they always knew who he was there were times where i would try to improvise a little bit and they'd be like he's not that smart he's more street smart uh so he probably wouldn't use medical terms like that but it's good glad you tried it let's go ahead and reel your back okay yeah that's interesting um is there any mission in cyberpunk that stands out to you from dennis um i mean i guess the it would be the heist right where he's you know meeting essentially meeting his end but again those were i mean when i re think about a lot of this stuff there was a lot of like struggling and i'm climbing buildings and we're in elevators and you know i don't know the necessarily the sequence of events um that you play in a in a linear fashion oh okay yeah right so and and because there were a lot of multiple choices there were a lot of different this is a bit of a head f head [ __ ] isn't it it really is i was just in there going i just want to do you know the best best possible job that i can and i know that when i in order to do that you just have to be right there in that specific and that sounds corny in that specific moment you have to be in the moment now you really sound like an actor you totally have to be present and you have to like just have fun with that okay don't overthink it don't get in your head i reckon you have so many voices and characters in your head that you could just bring out at any point oh man i don't want to scare you i'll scare you like he's really nice but i reckon you've got so much range i can just tell um [Laughter] what a weirdo do you know no you're a wow guy have you dubbed in any mmo mmos rpgs i think there was a final fantasy thing that i did again some of these things i did i never even knew what it was until i saw it on my imdb they love actors that much they keep us so informed they're like no really that's crazy at least me i you know again i shouldn't speak for all actors some people probably get the the dibs on on stuff right and they go through is it just because there's so many some some projects have so many uh you know voice actors or what it's possible i think that it's just a lot of it's just very secretive so the less people you compromise okay yeah of course yeah the truth the less people might accidentally not say something to their spouse who gets on reddit and shares it with the world yeah how does that sure that's happened so are you a gamer yourself at all yeah yeah i am you are uh i wouldn't say a gamer like uh where i where i need to gain just anything i've done uh i grew up around with i grew up with uh i had a vic-20 somebody knows that's a kind of the lesser commodore 64. and then we had an in television which i don't want to make you sound old but i don't think i was alive it's it's a lesser atari well too bad for you sorry i know i know i know right um i mean our generation i believe or maybe the one before it it's probably the the true boomers that developed them right in the 70s it was atari and pong and all that and then uh so i would play text games like treasure island like go north or go yeah another one called zork which was oh yeah that's a texas game isn't it yeah yeah yeah but it had it kind of had and then uh there was an old wolfenstein that started to have some graphics and you're like wow if i can we can take this text thing and make it 3d and i'm in the world that would be awesome if i were like as a 10 year old i'm going if i could do this i'd make like a if there was no such thing as an open world type game but i was imagining it at 10 that what if you could just be in a sandbox essentially and just do whatever you wanted and that was gta obviously but before that was that were the sierra games right like king's quest king's quest one through four it was a lot like that it started off as text and then text to move the character around go north and then it would show you a new screen or whatever and they did a bunch of different things i'm not sure what happened to sierra i'm sure they're still around but they were definitely the early adopters of this mmorpg world which kind of took me over and then somebody now when i was in my late 20s a while back i started to play world of warcraft so that was in its infancy they call that classic now and i just oh you're a big wow guy i'm a kind of a big wild guy oh nice okay but the thing is i it's a time element i'm sure a lot of people have mentioned that before uh that i'm sure you know but it's your it's your living so you get to you get to do it without any kind of uh sense of guilt that you're wasting your life away you know [Laughter] i do it for a living yeah that's what i say well i'll tell you what back in my day if you had said there's going to be a time where people get paid to play video games and tons of people are going to watch them play video games you would have been like that doesn't make any sense yeah that makes no sense why wouldn't you just play the game and enjoy the game you understand now don't you i completely understand yeah yeah it's a it's an industry i mean it's a sport wow 100 yeah and it's only i mean that ready player one that's we're going there we're going to have our haptic gloves and our oh yeah helmets everything we're going to be in a world that is indistinguishable from the one we're in right now 100 100 crazy to think isn't it well if you look at i mean if you look at what they're doing with blender or i mean houdini all the cgi software that they've got now there's stuff that is already indistinguishable all right you're going no way they're like yep that's all pixels it's all just you know vertices and it's amazing textures and stuff because we can fall out they can fall and they're doing it quicker than ever as well yeah yeah i mean if you looked at the demo that they did with tomb raider for the ps5 i think that came out i think it was almost a year ago where they showed you all that they did in unreal oh it was unreal yeah i know what you're talking about it looks like tomb raider it was a it was a fake game but yeah i know what you mean and they're talking about the textures and all the lighting and the sound design all of that i mean there are people that spend their whole lives just in one little area of that it's it's it's unbelievable so are you a pc guy or your console definitely a pc guide just because it just struck me wait a second a console is just a a i want to get heat from this go on say it it's it's it's a computer but it's a lesser computer i mean why would you do that when you can jack it up with an rtx or something put two things jack up the ram you know you can there's so much more customizability with a pc i built mine you know it's easy to build now you just buy the peripherals and put it in a box that's all it is so i don't see now now when you look at something like playstation where they're starting to change the architecture in the boards and there's stuff that's very proprietary to the yeah like yeah exclusively now now you've changed the game a little bit now it's not just a computer in a box it's it's specific to that thing so i don't have any hate for consoles i just think things look really really beautiful on a pc i like to have the best of both worlds so i'm privileged to um sure so i can play games like uncharted last of us on playstation and then you know something like cyberpunk will be pc yeah yeah they look they you know some of these games they do great on consoles they look beautiful yeah they push the limits of it i tell you um tanker says you were pretty cool in cyberpunk i think i'll take pretty cool time traveler says i want more jackie well okay but you're a time traveler so what's up can't you just uh lexi says is there a voice line of a or a character trait that you would have added to jackie if given the opportunity from lexi well i again i probably would have made him a very quiet quantum physicist or something like he kind of knew knows some other things about how the how the world works and he wouldn't have he would have had a bulletproof vest on in that mission yeah right somewhere he would have been like particle wave duality man i love that voice i [ __ ] love that voice oh um mr poona hey i played rage one and two love those games there you go oh cool so then you know the character do you know the character i played do you know do you know do you remember come on yeah did someone say it uh tanker what was your favorite voice line to say we went through that question which is your favorite life path corpora street kid or nomad i i said i haven't played it yet but which one would you go for it'd probably be uh either uh nomad nomad i like because you're out in the in the boonies there's no one around kind of like me and the mountains take some you can't find me good luck good luck we're snowing right now is it well i mean it's not snowing right but it has snow there's snow everywhere so it snowed last night a little bit i've never snow in australia do you know how sad it is i've never seen snow drop from the sky ever ever no is it a thing are you interested yeah i want to but i think it was there's only like one mountain in australia that you can see it so i don't have to take a ski out there or yeah not much though not much yeah going skiing in australia it's not something yeah jet skiing maybe yeah exactly uh jackie uh jason how do you think jackie would have reacted if he was in v's situation sharing a body with silver hand sharing a body yeah that's uh that's an interesting question i don't know if he would have handled it as well as v um you know um they'd probably institutionalize them because they'd be like he's talking to himself this guy even in cyberpunk even in 2077 it would have been a little little much for him who's jackie going for pan am or judy says traveller tough one i was asked this question and i'm gonna stick with that okay he's his misty is his true love okay oh that's number one yeah he is he is a bit of uh he you know he's he kind of whoever's more bootylicious i guess you'd say so would that be panham yeah i'll edit this one out even though it's a live recording oops this just did jason hightower says bootylicious he's so 2007. oh you'd be surprised man every every uh interview i do some news story comes out from some somewhere i know i was saying that there was one interview where i said uh what did i say oh i said i made a suggestion i said in a dlc they could probably you know make jackie like an algorithm that's in your ear or something and you're having quests with well and they ran with it this just in jason hightower demands to come back dlc confirmed next week what's more money guys please relax oh [ __ ] it's so true though it became i think it even became kind of a reddit reddit thing i don't i don't know really yeah try not to pay attention to a lot of that stuff i don't i very uh anxious if i google myself or things like this or comments like try to stay away from it because it'll it gets in your head and you know it hurt you know i can i i'm very easily hurt going back to going back an actor you know oh i know i've got to be you're very precious are you i've got to take care of you [Laughter] i am i uh going back to um pc gaming is there anything else you're playing besides wow or are you still on the wow train is there anything else do you play hearthstone or anything anything in that world or not i did some hearthstone um yeah now man i mean if you if you're if you're a true sweaty wow player there is no other game yeah my cousin's the same man yeah okay because you can't get him off you got a dungeon you gotta you gotta you gotta push those mythic pluses okay i know you don't know this but it's all about the gear scorebro and your your waiter io again so are you on it every day jeez man i mean yes maybe maybe a little bit at a time okay all right throw a little gotta keep the dailies going the weekend okay but there's so many there's so much else to do that's important because i also have a family i have a little six-year-old daughter oh that's good wife and uh and we you know it's that that's really the the wonderful part of my life uh everything else could disintegrate and you still got them yeah yeah i mean well that's you'll know you'll know i'll know eventually candy says you had me fighting for jackie with tears in my eyes great performance thank you so much i appreciate that that's uh you know you don't buy a game so that you can get into an emotional place right you yeah but but you do to be immersed in a world so i guess you need that yeah john bon zombie okay john bon zombie says yo jackie bro i was so sad to see you die bro that's from jon bon zombie [Laughter] it's got like a bon jovi thing going and it's got a rob zombie thing going yeah i like it ah appreciate it tesla we didn't want you to go either crying face i mean i tell you what everyone agrees you were gone too early hey yeah that's a testament to your performance mate is okay it is i mean yeah it could have gone uh the entirely dif i'm sure in a parallel universe i sucked royally uh what did you norma says what did you actually think of the final game like from what you've seen from what i've seen it's i mean extremely it's like my again like i said for a person that has dabbled a little in game game development i mean it's such an achievement in and of itself despite whatever issues or problems uh that they encountered you know that's that's not for me to to comment on um i really feel like if people tried to do that they'd they'd be a little more appreciative of of what it you know took to create that world and as i mentioned before i would say that it's we live in such a great time for video games because they're living breathing entities they can always develop and get better and you've got you've got gta still coming out with dlcs from it's essentially the seven-year-old game yeah yeah yeah same with world of warcraft though right yeah i mean it's kind of the same stuff over and over and over and over but they bring put out patches or they'll put out um you know additional content and and there it is and they're still working on patches they're committed to to fixing every all the issues so that's good it's a big game and i would say i would say you can quote me on this one don't don't under don't discount cd projekt red because uh they're they're on it they will uh they will surprise you in the end if they haven't already you know yeah with what they've created in a game i just love the world that they created because i love blade runner the movie and it was this is the closest i've ever got to that movie in a game so i just love exploring the world and doing all the crazy side missions yeah well when they said it was an rpg too i was like okay well so now i'm a guy that's played wow going how are they going to do that because that that's even more programming right yeah because you've got gear you've got all the your stats you've got i mean all these things to keep it you know to keep a laundry list of as a programmer i'm not saying as a player but as a programmer it's it's quite enough and then you've got all the yeah all the choices the different life part the paths it blows my mind it's so much to think of yeah yeah so you know it's it's it at the at the very least it has set a standard for future games and that's what we want when they talk about the gaming community it's all connected so when games come out this is a good thing for the gaming community no matter if you liked it or didn't like it or whatever there was a lot of blood sweat and tears put into it and it deserves to be a part of that community and and we saw with the bafta nomination it got um best narrative uh carla was nominated as well as jeremy oh wow that's great i i should pay attention to that stuff yeah that's wonderful they were nominated for best um yeah best performance by supporting and lead oh man and that's awesome and then cyberpunk was narrative i think there might have been another one but i can't remember but yeah got a few noms not bad not bad eh not bad and they're not even done completely no they're still going folks angel says hey jason thanks for lending your talent for jackie superb work ah thank you um you know were you told at the start that they were gonna kill off jackie or were you told later on i wasn't told i read it in a script yeah you said that earlier yeah that's great that's a little bit crazy to me but i guess it creates more of an authentic reaction maybe i don't know yeah a little bit but at that point i'll tell you this at that point i thought okay this is my last day here we go die good buddy this is it but was that actually your last day it wasn't my last day after that we did all this background stuff yeah you know we learned a little in fact it was just the beginning so there's i guess there's wow that's poetic about that philosophical is uh it was the beginning of learning a whole lot more about about jackie and his relationship to ve and misty and and just his place in that world so it ended up being several sessions after that so i was like wait a second am i did you undy me here or what's going on yeah are they thinking yeah i i love that they added so much more though to him i think that that is a testament to people's kind of getting getting into that character a lot more because really for the demo if you were to just look at jackie in the demo he's kind of just a guy that yells out the spanish phrases and that's about it there wasn't as much there wasn't as much substance in the demo than what we got to see in the full game yeah right but i think what we're wanting to see is just kind of what's going on quest wise and mechanics mechanics-wise i don't think we were too interested in too much of the the narrative exactly yeah because it gives people something to chew on yeah and they play it um did you see the funeral scene have you gone back and saw that i saw a little bit with the ofrenda and the and the mom yeah i didn't even know about that i never knew that that's a really special i thought that was a very special very great that's what i'm saying it's like awesome you know they they they did their homework they did their they did the work and i man it's just so that was it was neat it was really really moving and then i saw a scene with uh where you go and visit his garage oh yeah yeah he's there on the on kind of on the curb and kind of going through it and she says a line she said something like everybody thought he was a goofball but they were wrong i like that i kind of relate to that personally because i like to have fun and sometimes i could be a little more comical than than than not and as a result sometimes people don't may not take me seriously or realize that i'm serious about what it is that i'm doing or talking about it whatever and uh and it's so wrong it's so wrong yeah i love that i love that moment that's one of the best moments in the campaign you get to pick a you have to pick an item i think to bring with you i think you can pick a baseball or i don't have bikes in there yeah there was a bike in there yeah his motorcycle his motorcycle that's right yeah um question for jason have you ever tasted the drink made by jackie before that heist [Laughter] had tequila right drink what was the drink yeah i'm sorry guys i'm sorry i'm not what was it should i look it up i i feel like it was a it was a drink made after you i think it was tequila yeah i mean definitely i stopped someone in the chat say what it is yeah i stopped drinking about four or five years ago um didn't like waking up and feeling crummy and uh and i'm i've never gone back i have moments where i'm like i couldn't use a drink depending on remember what those things lead to not good stuff for me you're better i'm better sober i'm better i'm caffeine so yeah what do you think of the endings have you seen the endings of the game from mad villain like there's a lot of them i don't know which one you're referring to i you know what i need to do i need to just go ahead and pull the trigger and start playing this game i don't know from australia asked me if i wanted to to join him uh streaming the game what you know with jackie and the whole deal oh nice i thought well maybe we could do that but i don't know if it's multiple i guess i could just watch and comment but yeah but i need that'll be cool for sure people people would love that yeah 100 yeah i don't know people love to get the behind the scenes of each scene and you know yeah oh i'll give it a little uh commentary there yeah that day i ate a burrito uh there was a lot of dying i remember that i just remember a lot of a lot of really channeling pain a lot of that but wanting to make sure it was authentic because i think you know there's a difference between going and then like really feeling it so so you actually heard yeah i was you know in i had one of those microphones that kind of came around so i was able to have mobility and there was a lot of that a lot of physicality in what i did for sure 100 if you were in a cyberpunk world jason what role would you want uh and what robotic implants would you get from mangos definitely eyeballs new hands why not let's go for the whole thing as much as i can yeah you're fully robotic up let's do it let's see yeah yeah sure i'm trying to think what do they have stuff for your ear ears that you can super strength maybe fast fast running with the legs whatever any normal person would want we're definitely going in that direction that's that's a happening big time you reckon inside out oh 100 without delving into conspiracy theories and all that but i sort of want to hear these confusions with these conspiracy theories no no no no no i'm it's not it's pretty much a real thing we see it we see it in uh athletes that have the what was that guy that got in trouble but he had the he had the feet that where he ran really fast with the cyber feet and really he ended up getting in trouble i think he was yeah i i don't want to get it i don't think i heard that one that's murdered somebody or something uh mad villain i hope jackie's a part of the upcoming story dlc we hope so too lord voldemort oh voldemort's in the chat he says hello oh hello sir there's a way to enter the roof of konpeki plaza was there a way planned to save jackie oh okay not that i know of yeah not that i know of uh i i lived in a state of cognitive dissonance after i died and they had gave me all this extra stuff i i just thought oh maybe i'm not done i'm not dying that's just one choice no you're dead buddy you're dead how do you feel like isn't that funny in a game with all these multiple choice and you the one choice that you'd hope would be multiple no that's concrete it would be fun to hear how they developed that and what they were thinking behind that you got to get one of those guys you got to get a cd project red guy in here unfortunately i think they're a little bit busy that's the only problem yeah they're like we don't want to talk about jackie stop it with the jackie okay and your hashtags we get it uh but uh yeah maybe maybe but we're yeah got some other stuff it's a little more important right now can you emma says can you please say that physics line again that was amazing laughed my ass off um particle wave duality that is amazing how did you how did you get to that voice how did you is it just did you come up with that voice the first time you auditioned yeah pretty much nice they said he's a street kid he's kind of a la kind of thing so i was thinking a little bit of chicano but not too much uh certainly a latino character so i think i can pull that off um yep so that's that's basically it and then you just pretty natural yeah play around uh you know question we oh we've already answered that one no snow in australia there's a little bit but not much uh won't you get a fr i have a question dan do you get a fresh haircut every day is that what only for special guests like yourself like man yeah fade is work i mean you know yeah back because i've got like a kind of a you can't see it but it's a bit of a peaky blinder thing because my wife's just like trying to keep it short i was gonna get a haircut anyway i was gonna get a haircut yesterday but the fog scared me have you always had the moustache the mustache came in man about eight years ago maybe yeah maybe and it stayed ever since and it stayed you know as a buddy he's like just shut up and grow a mustache i don't want to talk to you to you grant and i was like what grow a mustache you know what no no i'm not growing up what are you talking about and then as a joke i grew one and uh then i was like oh he's right i should just play around with this and then i just didn't started to enjoy it and there it is thank you planet mofo for that fascinating story isn't it it no it is a very fascinating story you got to keep it going mustache yeah you got to keep it groomed and nicely uh presented there's a lot of work behind it there's a lot of work behind it well i mean i've just maybe put the clippers to it everyone so it's a little off right now but whatever uh what other games do you like from dylan what other games do i like i mean uh world of warcraft wow classic the dlc is it uncharted uncharted not unchartered uncharted uncharted yeah uncharted was this was before i started getting into voice over uh video game voice so i was doing a lot of commercial work or whatever never even thought about it never even crossed my mind to do video games but that game was just so beautiful and massive even though it was an open and open world type deal and the the the voice work in it was incredible so it was one of the first times where i was like okay now we've got something here this is a movie this is a movie that i get to play in and so you know that's what video games have become the fully fully immersive you're a part of it that's why they're they're i think so addictive hundred percent i wish they'd be more educational though you know what trick us into learning things well i come from a uh bit of a science background and i taught um i taught for a few years um for pre-med kids trying to get into med school and i just always thought video games like maybe even some of the quests or things may require you to have some understanding of maybe the periodic table or you know just kind of tricking people to learn stuff that is useful in their real life kind of stuff so i would like to see more of that yeah i agree okay i know it wasn't a question but no no i agree jason is the bomb he does the best interviews such an amazing actor who can convey every emotion to the amazing degree that means that means a lot to me because i usually walk away from interviews going oh you're such a corny bastard would you just shut up shut up no one cares no one cares where you did school no one cares this that or the other no just stop it uh i love listening to jackie as a latino playing a nomad he made me feel right at home oh good yeah i mean i i need the it's the the latino folks that that have to give the uh they have to give the the okay on on that character otherwise it doesn't matter uh same old guy nick says god damn that mustache is beautiful oh wow thank you and zoltan quite the mustache i'll send you i'll send you a send you the check in the mail for that comment uh i grew it and then i booked a little uh i think it was like a little kansas or something but it was a ford spot and so my wife's like from here to fourth your mustache's name shall be forward okay that's bored did jackie's character in any way rub off on jason from dwevi of course man do you walk around the house with your daughter and bring the bring him to life yeah i like hey well the other day i was trying to teach you how to say orale and she got to ola so i was like okay never mind a year i'll tell you but it's like ola [Laughter] you're good you're you're half mexican that's okay the other half is filipino um i'm playing cyberpunk questions here dan dan did you run out of questions what's going on no i i i like to i like to um get people to ask you you know what i mean right yeah yeah i like the interaction but i've got i've got one for you that i i i've got one for you no you don't i always i always ask everyone that i come on what their favorite movie is just because i'm a big movie buff ah so give me some of your faves well one movie that i used to love when i was in college was il postino i loved that movie just because it was kind of a quiet and it was pristine i don't think i've heard of it yeah il postino i think it won an academy award back in the day it's an italian flick uh sorry for being so obscure no no now i have to watch it like comedy movies it just depends that one's more dramatic and the guy who directed it was also the lead in it he ended up dying shortly after of cancer it was his it was basic it was his swan song i think is that correct swan song yeah your last final your ta-da now as far as uh as far as what are your stuff what are your favorites so i can say yeah mine too i i'm a big batman fan so i love the dark knight it sounds a bit basic but it's okay i just love it i mean heath ledger you can't knock his performance i mean come on um that was that was amazing yeah i like i like um sci-fi type stuff huh yeah i like nolan i like quinton tarantino stuff sure david fincher you know oh wow yeah yeah well all those directors they're they're probably my faves but um yeah i mean that's just that comes to mind i know that i'm gonna walk away from here and go and then you're gonna go yeah we've got one said and i should have said i mean there was some kubrick stuff thus dr strangelove which is a it's a tough one to watch if you're not really into cinema or whatever but i mean uh what's his name peter sellers talk about i mean not just watching him as an actor and then as somebody that really loves comedy yeah i mean he's he's he did all of it he did it all oh yeah cube kubrick's i think in that movie too he was nominated for two academy awards for two different roles that's insane that's insane i don't think that's ever happened no that's crazy i mean i know i know sasha baron cohen was nominated this year golden globes for two you know he was in borat he got nominated he was in trial of chicago seven got nominated for that as well but that's on a whole other level that yeah for the same movie yeah for sure yes it's a whole other level to even get that opportunity as a whole another level to be honest yeah 100 percent what's your opinion why is casey says why is jackie so likable in your opinion jason where are you so likable um try to be i mean there's yeah i think in i mean there's a there's a there's a code of honor with him i don't know if that's what makes him likeable yeah i think that there's uh there's an element of i don't you know that's a tough one for me that's a tough it's just your personality beaming through the character is that what it is let me write that down write that one down for the next interview it's my personality beaming through i'm really writing it down you can quote me yeah quote me please from dan allen gaming yeah it's my personality beaming through i can't you know explain it it's so that south that that guy you were talking about before apparently it was a south african dude from the olympics there you go oh that guy yeah yeah that's his name i want to say not petraeus that's the oscar petraeus patrice yes yeah zucchini might be right yeah that's yeah i think there's a general petraeus who got also got in trouble for some things yeah oscar petraeus yeah yeah that's him and i don't know the specifics around it but somehow he managed somebody he was involved in some murder sorry uh travis says we need a mustache dlc for jackie whatever that entails a what a mustache what a mustache dlc oh just as much just a mustache yeah but jackie's it's gotta be jackie oriented right i still don't know what the thing is on his face i don't know what that is oh yeah yeah it's some sort of cyber i don't know what it's for specifically though oh okay um any any upcoming projects that you've got coming up that you can talk about i know there's so many ndas but yeah i mean i'm on kid cosmic i play the biker in black on netflix ooh i don't know if you've ever seen that show it was created by a guy named mccracken is this i mean you did the powerpuff girls and all that kind of stuff yeah it's a really i've i've saw that and it's it's it's kind of a tv series i'm like yeah i'm not going to try to explain it because i'm going to do a horrible job is that a recurring role or everybody's going [Laughter] but it's got a kind of a comic book feel there's just some really great and they they really brought in a lot of big hitters they got tom kenny who plays a alien in that tom kennedy is the voice of spongebob yeah wow and uh and and some other fred tata shorey who's the hulk who plays the hulk but he plays this cat that's just kind of a southern guy really chill and it's just wonderful is it is it made for kids you know it could be it could be but it's it's definitely for everyone yeah sure it's not it's not even though it's called kid cosmic there's some there's some adult elements to it as well cool no different than when you watch a pixar film you can tell they've slipped some things in for the adults that are oh your kids to the theater 100 what's the difference between doing a show like that and and voice acting for a game i would say for myself the only difference is probably don't do a full four hours but it's still the same i treat it the same it's all acting and it just depends on what degree if if if it's more cartoony if it's more you know yeah definitely i do i'm working on a show right now that is for preschool kids and so that's a different kind of tone than you want you don't necessarily want to go too dark even if you're a dark a character or protect an antagonist you don't you still want to keep it light yeah let's not scare the children do you show your daughter these shows we we show we she be able to recognize she's a fan of another show that i'm in called victor and valentino which is a show that i'm currently doing on cartoon network and i play a character named don jalepeno and he is he sounds cool yeah he's basically the oh you're crazy kids kind of guy but he also has a a he basically has a giant book that's everything on everyone he's got notes on people he's a bit of a conspiracy guy so cool so what are you in the future do you want to just do you want to do more video game stuff do you want to do more anime like where's your head at at the moment well my head's definitely on continuing to work for a living for sure and i you know you you never get the choice to pick the greatest roles of your career you just fall into stuff and you're lucky and maybe there's a producer or somebody that goes i think you might be right you know come read for this or whatever and sometimes it works sometimes it does it uh my head has always though been on creating obviously my own stuff uh i have the company that i created that is with also you know all the voice over and everything is under the umbrella of of bogey studios which is my my my um my company and what i want to do is create multimedia so animation games all that which is a pretty big undertaking so we stick with animation at first but i write i'm a writer and uh i've done stuff that's uh very very character-based so i'd like to continue doing that and put that more in a visual format and you think that'll have a latino flavor um you know i've never really been i mean i'm sure it will just because i'm latino but i wouldn't necessarily put it as a focus yes i mean as a writer i think about human things so whatever your meat suit look like looks like is is kind of irrelevant to me yeah i mean i i didn't have a tr i didn't i didn't pick this i didn't pick this meat suit um and and none of us do so i mean it's very important i think to speak the story that you that you know and for me there's absolutely latino elements but there's also growing up as a military kid there's also you know having a science background there's also the improv stuff there's uh you know having an older brother stuff that you know who has who doesn't have an older brother dan military kid do you have a brother i have but he's younger oh okay and he he actually wants to be an actor which funnily enough oh tell him to be a dentist better i can't i can't tell him no he's he's he wants it and he's gonna go for it so he wants to be what a action star yeah he wants to be in hollywood that's the goal well i'll tell you what i mean a lot of australians coming out here taking our jobs i know yeah the hemsworth brothers and jackman get out of here they're coming they're something fresh aren't they but they're good man they're so good so i think americans love aussies in movies some reason i don't know why but they're likeable they're charismatic i don't know what's going on maybe it's just different different personality or yeah they're fun-loving i have got a buddy that lives in uh perth her man yeah is that right did i say it yeah or is it yeah western australia perth yeah is it uh is it kind of woodsy out there deserty yeah yeah yeah it's in the middle of nowhere [Laughter] would they be considered kind of the the southerners of the union oh i guess sorry yeah i guess so yeah i'm a southern boy so i can it's okay a little bit we grew up a little bit yeah perth's actually full of um people from europe now like okay yeah british and all sorts so yeah he'll send me videos sometimes of the things that they do and it's uh it's pretty crazy like converting a bus into a whole like a drinking bus australian guys that would be right and then all of a sudden there's a live chicken i don't know i don't know why there's a live chicken or they'll have an air fryer out on the beach and they're just cooking some some some pork belly that sounds exactly like western australians yeah yeah i'll give you a couple more before i let you go mate i thank you for your time by the way yes sir yes um jason who's your favorite character in cyberpunk strange man strange says besides yourself obviously i like the ripper doctor yeah shermy said that too yeah yeah i like him i i auditioned for that i hope it's okay that i say that i'm glad they chose that guy that did it because he's great it's really authentic it hasn't he is he is you're right he sounds you know like really like he's been doing this stuff so yeah whoever they they got i'm sorry i don't know his name offhand he's really good he's probably a super famous guy and i'm screwing it up so he'll be your favorite yep uh for sure and any any advice for actors or voice actors coming up and i know you probably get this question so much but um well a lot of times i say i think for myself i can only speak for myself my my the the the training that i got in chicago at the various schools second city improv olympic and the annoyance so shout out to those guys uh that's where it all really started to make sense for me uh so training uh specifically improv training a lot of times you'll look at copy or you wanna you know if they allow it then you have the ability to do that kind of blend out conversational things or dialogue or whatever and it makes you also understand scenes scene dynamics uh character development all that stuff so you can not necessarily play a part in writing because sometimes it's written and that's it you got to do your thing but it helps you appreciate good writing and that's really important as an actor you know and now more than ever people have those chops so if you're getting into that world you should have some improv in your in your in your back back pocket and the other thing is uh have a backup plan no uh yeah i was going to go to dental i was going to go to med school i was going to go to there were even times when i i've been doing voice over like maybe i should go back maybe i should go back i should go to dental school or something but that those ships have sailed we're doing it we're full on you're in now there's no going back let's everybody you got this [Laughter] no there's some real hitters that you've interviewed uh dan and uh those are dudes that are that are that have got it they're set i'm kind of a newbie to the world but uh hopefully they'll keep me around for a few more what do you think dan oh thank you i think i'm going to be having you back for a very big role very very soon it's awesome that's awesome i appreciate it you say all the right things to me dan uh you got it you got the whole package good looks good voice ah good personality what else do they want these casting directors what else do they want seriously uh i you know you can't give him everything i mean i'm also on time and my work ethic is yeah there's no negatives at all from my not at all i don't have a substance abuse problem okay all right beautiful mate we'll um we can find you on instagram and twitter me on instagram and twitter yeah jbogey yeah um don't do a whole lot of interaction on on social media just because i i think i'm i have a little bit of a it's a it's it's really exploded um social media as you know as the world knows uh but so it's it's a little for for for the boomer guy my dad's a boomer but they call guys my age boomers uh it's it's a little overwhelming so i yeah i don't know what to you don't know what to do do i like it do i retweet it do it do i like it enough to re you know you get all into all this i don't know what to do man i need you to well no you're busy just just retweet anything i do all right that's what you should but it's nothing it's no offense to anybody if i don't you know i tried to though i love it when when fans reach out and say nice things because believe it or not not all actors are sitting in front of the mirror going god aren't you great aren't you fantastic wait till the next interview you can talk about your birth with your birth when you were birthed no no yeah that that some like myself are like humble you know well i don't know about humble but maybe even a little bit in some respects self-defeating and like uh i hope you know i didn't screw it up or whatever but uh i i think this went well what do you think i think this went very well i think this went very well mate i appreciate it i appreciate your time um before i let you go is there is there any chance we can is there any chance we can get jackie to say anything to dan to perform like a little monkey would you mind dancing monkey would you mind dancing like a little monkey of course let's do it please oh it's only 10 am here i've had too many laughs tell me tell me what to say oh no i don't just say whatever comes to your mind please i this is jackie wells i've been interviewed by dan allen of daniel and gaming not to be mistaken for van allen you know the belts no not the same guy not even related okay jackie oh man hilarious uh no i'll be using that hundred percent oh you got my plan no thank you matt i said how much you got much planned for the rest of the day busy uh let's see i gotta probably go play in the snow with my kid uh i do want to get one one mythic plus in before my day's up and uh and then i'm gonna probably bust out on on zbrush a little bit they just came out with a new um a new update so i gotta play around with that it's a sculpting program gosh so yeah what else am i doing that's it that's i can't talk about the rest oh i'm gonna have some of the arroz con pollo that i made last night okay cause i cook too i'm a creator man i create food i create you know lots of things man [Laughter] oh well i love you man thanks for taking the time it's been a pleasure we'll have to do it again hey oh for sure 100. so thanks thanks everybody who watched thank you follow jason instagram and twitter appreciate it thank you man take care alrighty bye yo yo what a great guy jason hightower you can follow him on instagram and twitter link is in the description and i'll definitely be using that little piece he put together for me how'd you enjoy that guys he's a great guy isn't he really really great guy very lovable isn't he very down-to-earth lovable guy could talk to him for hours about anything you know [Music] what an amazing guy angelo yeah such a down-to-earth guy absolutely charming 100 well guys guess who we've got on next the mail v in an exclusive interview with dan himself gavin is coming on how good is that he has never done an interview about this game guess who he's chosen your boy dan he has from what i know he has not done a single interview on this game for a podcast or anything and we have got him on exclusively the mail v gavin and that's happening and that's happening on when's it happening that is happening next that's the next one that's happening monday 1pm march 15th pst it's about the same time as this one
