[Music] do [Music] there's been uh some sparks fly here between the 17 and the 377 and they line up next to each other two different totally uh you know uh different types of writing styles uh purcell very patient very nonchalant at times just goes about his business and makes it happen uh barsha on the other hand is just on the rev limiter making it happen the whole time just wide open so i mean look down the line here i mean all the way through it's crazy you got searle in there you got anstey davolos baggett durham i mean just on down the line this is a very healthy year for ama motocross [Music] last year down to the wire let's see if it happens again in 2010 in the championship fight they're through term one and it looks like it's a 38 of trey canary gonna grab the first hole shot of the year searle on the ktm right behind him but here comes porcell wow tommy searle almost had the whole shot there but trey kenard steals it and look who is on it already christophe purcell three different manufacturers four different manufacturers up front now his baggage takes the spot from from searle so trey canard out front early for sell means business he didn't waste any time moving up to that number two spot and he's already putting all sorts of pressure on canard for the lead and searle back into third and he's pressured by bag it like you said jeff let's see if those two can hang with two of the fastest guns in light supercross this year and also two of the fastest riders last year outdoors that's canard and porcell as you see him come down the downhill here wide open and then into some bumps and for the moment canard able to put a few bike lanes between himself and his pursuer purcell then look at this battle searle baggett and dean wilson number five spot bagging and searle just bar to bars oh it's close it's close back it's gonna be on the inside this next corner let's see if circa can keep the momentum on the outside he does wow and remember searle he's on that new ktm a whole redesigned bike yeah they actually have a linkage rear suspension system ktm hasn't had that in almost 20 years that's a 2011 model and right now he's got it right in front of that rockstar suzuki bag it and look out for dean wilson coming through third on your screen well and you know cyril he's been off he suffered an injury earlier this year so this is his first race back in a while he's got a lot to prove once again one of the themes of this summer is going to be contract time for for a lot of riders at least at this point but that's what you're saying about searle and rattray who did not get off the ground really in supercross never had a chance to prove themselves this is their one shot to prove their worth here goes porcell after canard he's got the lead at the end of lap one wow what a move there as purcell just just gets to the inside slams the door now on trey canard as he tries to get back in there let's see who can make the left see if you get in the roost there you just get totally hammered look at searle in third he doesn't care about the credentials of canard or porcell he wants to go after them oh wilson has gotten around bag it he's up to fourth this one down oh he loses both tires on that wet soil let's see if he keeps the bike running yes and keeps it up and going that's going to put him just in front in front of marsha that's about 15th place right now nicoletti han marsha rattray right in there that's another rider down you see how slick this track is right now i think that was nico izzy who went down eli tomac the rookies in the number four spot and look at that the fastest lap of the race has now been turned on by the pure rookie eli tomac in his first ever professional race the baggage still all over tomac and cyril still all over canard and meanwhile 4.9 seconds out front is your leader purcell look at this race three riders in the same corner tomac might get the boat tomac around the outside no cirl gets it oh and tomac had to knife back to the inside to avoid hitting his teammate canard and kenoit comes back on surrell wow how about this raising the fans up here and norcal are loving it opening round of ama motocross in full effect a mistake by canard and this time the rookies gonna get him so tomak up to third sterling second and just a few mistakes by canard that makes all the difference back to fourth and you got baggett weimer just at the back of this group five rider battle for second place here i i did not see this coming here that's the left-hand side of your screen as well starting to go away certainly one of those wet spots coming into the corner a different line that hadn't been dried out and he almost pitched it away so now tomac sees that he wants to go for second tomak finally goes to the inside in one of these corners it's going to pay off let's see if this inside line oh squares where did he find that one well it didn't work to make the pass see cyril has just been so solid i mean mental strength right here is is the key and he has stayed right in it tomac again and this time makes the pass it's a drag race down the hill [Music] and tomax finally got it covered got to a one line section and finally tomak into the number two spot that's the same quarter with grant passed alessi in the first 450 moto jeff you like to talk about the heart rate a lot my heart rate is up watching that battle that was unbelievable uh-oh the leader porcella has gone down here goes tomac no that's canard i believe tomac might have taken the lead we'll find out when they get back to the strike tomac and searle were so that should mean that the rookie eli tomek is in the lead we'll find out in just a moment when he gets to the strike there he is unbelievable turn of events here for cell who we thought would make the least amount of mistakes because he arrived so smooth made a huge one and might have just given his motto away tomac has been the fastest rider on the track right now he just turned to 215. he puts which is two seconds a lap faster than anybody else on the track at the moment he could very well come out and win this moto this is crazy oh he is gone folks once he finally won that battle with cyril the lead is two and a half seconds over him and that's the battle seconds is gone but he certainly is uh if he does another lap like that he's gonna be two seconds ahead corcello's already caught searle so it took porcell one lap to get the wheels back under him to get his rhythm back he's not out of this thing jeff here he comes well and no doubt that tommy searle there on the fmf ktm is out to impress fastest man at the moment last lap around porcello is a 216. oh i'm sorry tobacco 215 again still wait a second my eyes are deceiving me right now tomac oh oh no down and charles got the lead unbelievable so three riders with two and a half left to go with a shot at the moto win and the fans here at hangton are going crazy it does not get any better than this wow unbelievable just when you think tomac's got the thing wrapped up it puts tommy searle back in front and purcell still was a shot at winning this moto even after that fall a few laps ago one to go at hang town moto one tommy cyril with the lead will the crafty frenchman strike again the fans here at hang tight go crazy force on the outside who's got it on the exit wheel-to-wheel and florida bar and porcell has got it he cuts him off and takes the line from tommy searle how many times have we seen this every time it looks like they've got purcell beat he pulls something out of the last moments and he's got it again so patient and so smart let's see if he gets this inside because tommy's got this line dialed yes he dives in well cyril nailed that corner as best as you possibly could but still couldn't make up any ground on the frenchman so patiently so methodically just waited for his moment wow that is spectacular riding by porcell he's got this one as he gaps searle here by four or five bike links what a ride christophe purcell just classic kristoff porcell the crafty frenchman strikes again he almost threw it away he picked it back up and wins the first motor of the year awesome ride though for tommy searle acts as close as he has come to winning here in the united states let it all the way down to the final lap and that battle raging behind them all the way down to the checkered flag tomac third weimer barsha baggett sixth seventh goes to canard radche is eighth blake wharton from way back ends up ninth and dean wilson his debut and professional motocross takes tenth after a crash early in this one what a race that's your rocky mountain atvmc keys to the race for rattray who was there with that torrid battle and then late in the race they're able to pull away and end up eighth that's not what the former world champion wants here in 2010 couple riders down looks like will han on the lucas oil troy lee honda is going to grab the whole shot here at moto 2. trey canard is up there in the number two spot no it's darren dorf got a pass canard around the outside daryn durham on the honda troy machine is in the second and there's a yamaha inside the top five and i'm gonna say that's davolos along with tommy searle rounding out to top five wait a minute report is we've got a red flag situation we might have a restart jeff you mentioned that a bunch of riders were down off the start yes and that is the scenario blake baggett is down after them unbelievable first photo well we have cleared up the situation here at hang town the good news is all the riders who were down both blake baggett and drew gossler are back up i don't think gossler was able to get back into the race but they did both get up under their own power jeff fantastic conclusion there to a pretty bad first turn accident but i'll tell you what it's gonna be uh disappointing for a rider like will han unless he can duplicate it here in the second round because that whole shot was awesome will justice be served will han get another start let's find out yes he nails it how does that happen every time will hans got it again and this time it's eli tomac in second around the outside on the green bike is wilson third right in front of wilson is trey canard tommy searle had third or fourth in that uh first one and right now he's about seven six or seven so good start once again for tommy searle and the question is where's the uh 377 not that far back jeff he's just around the outside to the right of cyril so plenty of opportunity now for the 377 to go forward but they've all got to challenge the 49er will han and the 243 the rookie eli tomac who nearly won the first moto today durham back up front also towards the front i should say great start though two fortunately only one is going to count but he'll take it either way and look he's actually putting distance now on the dueling geico honda riders ah canard makes the move a disappointing race for kanar to motor one he's not gonna let it happen this time and i believe tomac got to drive there let's see if he can make it stick on the inside wow yes and then canard back to the outside canard takes the spot i think it's safe to say this track's got multiple lines here in the second moto they were side by side for about four corners and in fact they're still side by side tomac doesn't care about the credentials of his teammate uh canard he's going after it corcell searle daryn durham he mentioned all these guys one mistake out of any of them it's all going to change whoa what a move by tomac to get around canard for second wow what an aggressive move there by uh by the teammates i'm telling you trey canard he is not gonna like that because he has got to be fired up after the first photo that he had dropping back to seventh that is really disappointing for him and he's a strong strong guy okay he's going to be in this thing all the way to the end but tomac and hey use youthful exuberance that he has he's going after the lead here who's totally dialed in we know that this race is far from over here because these guys are going to battle all the way through tommy searle and christoph purcell were the strongest riders in the first moto we'll see what they got here in the latter stages of moto 2. all right there's purcell the crafty one this track is rough he's got to keep that bike on two wheels huh trying to come back and battle with the honda boys in front of him this is going to be good christophe corcell is the man on a mission this year a disappointing championship run last season he feels that he was the best man in oh nine and he wants to prove it here in 2010 wilson has gotten by han so wilson is third han is fourth and for sale remains in fifth they remember a lap or two ago marcel was right behind his teammate wilson now wilson is out of a shot he seemed very very far up on the top of the screen so wilson has pulled away from porcell here goes purcell now to work on han look how smooth christophe purcell is he is just so just so fluid as he makes a pass here [Music] eli tomac continues to lead the way his dad of course one of the legends of american mountain bike racing maybe the greatest of all time american mountain bike racing john tomac so you know this kid's in shape dad's been pushing them for a long time and they've been doing it not doing amateur titles they don't care about that they're preparing for this day and the long run of being a pro racer looking at dean wilson here at hangtone pointing in third and that is a pivotal position because the man in fourth christoph purcell needs to finish third in this race to win the overall because in ama promoto cross we take two races and combine the scores of both to determine a winner for the afternoon little mistake there by wilson but that's okay he's got a nice little lead built up well and he really hasn't had much pressure from porcell for the last two or three laps and that's you know that's going to be good news for him and it's great news for eli tomac who's out front and right behind him another battle will haunt who had the whole shot and has been running strong this entire race has got company brock tickle as we like to say tickle don't let the name fool you he's very serious about this he wants into the top five han is going to make it difficult on him though i can't forget my boy tommy searle either on that fmfktm uh just i was so close to winning the first moto right now uh he has dropped way off the pace down and showing him a 19th as we speak so not sure what has happened there but certainly not the conclusion to the day that uh thomas earl was looking for wow nice move by tickle he managed to stand up to that entire section feed on the pegs tremendous balance like a trials rider and made the outside line work well here's the 243 eli tomac he has a 6.7 second lead the white flag one to go for eli tomac this is one of the most spectacular debuts of all time now technically rookies have won their very first race but that usually is a rider say who's proven in europe moving over to the united states who's technically a rookie on the ama circuit a writer like grant langston came in and went 1-1 the first time we've raced in the u.s but this is a true rookie fresh out of the amateur ranks won the aaron antiques loretta lynn championship last year and uh in fact they didn't even have him racing the expert classes as an amateur again they were trying to build his program slowly but when he had to turn it on he needed to turn it on oh wait a minute somehow porcell has come from nowhere to take over third and that's going to give him the overall the crafty frenchman again no we had the change sorry about that so it's gonna be a tie down tie break of course go to the second moto so what has happened to wilson what has happened to porcell last lap everything coming unglued well and these guys are quite a ways behind trey canard who's kind of running all by himself in second and that's who well that's the position that christoph purcell needs if he wants a chance at winning this overall eli tomac who's right here with a little less than a half a lap to go he could possibly be on his way to winning the overall and the second moto in his rookie ama motocross debut just an incredible ride it's gonna be a tie on points a one three and a three one so tomek and porcell will tie but the tiebreaker is the better finish in moto 2 and you cannot finish any better than first so eli tomac is going to win there you see how he and poor cellar tied but that's not enough nice clutch move by purcell to salvage the points but not the win and as much as people expected from eli tomek coming in here maybe open some eyes turn some heads top five maybe a podium i don't know what people expected a victory two turns to go and the son of john and kathy tomac is gonna do it how about this in his first ever pro race eli tomac wins at hang town an unbelievable performance for that young man 17 years old out of colorado and he has conquered the best riders in the checking out his teammate tried to give him a run all the way down to the finish he is going to take second and that ultimately is going to make all the difference for the overall the third place finish for purcell to tie in points tomak wins the tiebreaker wins the race wilson and tickle round out the top five eli did you ever imagine in your wildest dreams that your first race would end up with an overall victory i mean this is crazy i mean i'm really i don't even know what to think i mean i'm so excited that i'm not really excited i'm like not even my own body right now he did what he had to do to get it to the finish line and win the overall and here are the results today as we mentioned christophe purcell rallied he passed brock tickle and dean wilson on the last lap to get to third in the moto that allows him to tie tomac in points but not when the overall trey canard takes third overall there's probably 20 riders that have good support uh well-established names there's sean hamblin on the inside welcome back to racing for him we don't have enough time to get in all the names they could potentially run up front podiums and wins this year so there's only one way to determine who are really going to be the contenders let's drop the gate and go racing for the first time outdoors in 2010. looks like green on the inside with andrew short outside the marines gonna get the first whole shot of the year and davey mill snaps right behind him oh that was the 43 down hard man hooked that run hooked one of those rice holes go ahead jeff that's stephen clark also moving up to the 455 for all of the ktm fans the 800 was about third or fourth actually he's running third now off the start on the new 350. and ben townley they're doing battle with him mike brown on the inside so we've got two of the customary phase with millsaps and lead up front oh look out and alessi and tally were wondering if those guys had under the hood they're right there in contention off the start wow what a start here and it's you can see just how wet and messy it is right now but let's go back and look at that replay there jason um focus on the right-hand side the 43 is you got reed with the hole shot and watch 43 come in there clark just stuffs the front wheel in way to answer the call here for chad reed to get out front a lot of mystery about what was the deal with him in supercross when he came back from injury was not the same old chat reed looks like the same old chat read out front right now but everyone wants that finish line they want their checkered flag and it's going to be interesting to see with a guy like townley how he's had so much time off from racing and to see how his fitness is same thing with the uh you know with mike alessi because alessi had the knee injury yeah and so it's one thing to have a wrist hand injury something like that that keeps you off the bike but when you have that type of injury it really inhibits your ability to uh go out and train properly on a bicycle or running something like that behind grant who is fit they got brown and six sipes seventh short metcalf and dungy round out the top ten so let's see if dungey can make his way forward while reed tries to get away but again i can't say it enough compared to supercross these guys are gonna pick their spots oh we now hear that dungey has stalled the bike he was in tenth and he's dropped much further back than that dungey had to mount a come from behind charge and hang down last year in the 250 bike and he's got to do it again oh andrew short is down he was just inside the top ten and holding that left side hope he's okay he's trying to get the bike started there he goes he gets it fired up but that is not the way that you want to start a championship series when you want to be in it to the final round i'm sure that uh he's going to be able to pick up some spots but he is really going to have to work hard looks to me like a lessee in town they are just kind of hanging around and josh grant's not waiting any longer he goes around the outside jeff he oh he barely downloading got the line there tally able to hold him off tally dab to foot welcome back to the sprint early on tally was just hanging around that first slide but here at left too he's got a serious challenge look at grant cutting the inside wow it's like he cut over the banners there almost and still landed he took off on the track was off the track in the air and then back on by the time he landed lead of about three seconds right now for reed and again last year came in here was on a super cross only contract decided at the 11th hour basically to go racing outdoors when we raced at hang town in 09 he admitted he wasn't quite fit he wasn't quite prepared with the motorcycle big difference here in 2010. back to the grant alessi battle for third don't take your eyes off this one folks you never know what these two what's going to happen oh here's what i'm impressed as they push the pace look who's staying with him ben townley townley's staying with him millsaps has actually pulled away and uh grant and alessi have kind of gapped a little bit and that's the thing about today all that roost that you're taking on you have got to make a push when you come up on somebody and you got to make the pass if not you're just constantly getting hammered by all the mud and dirt let's check in and find out what happened here to dungey early in the race oh here's dungey coming through see gets on the brakes really hard there that that was a close one that uh rhythm section coming up through there got a little a little kick and you seen the the rear wheel kind of slid out on him right as he hit one of those uh one of those whoops so dungy he's got a long way to go he's just salvaging points right now uh he certainly is and that's not the way that you want to start out the championship don't you by the way last year fell in the first turn in our first 250 moto much like steven clark did this time around and made it all the way up to seventh so that will give you an idea he wasn't as far back this time and he's not been able to come through the pack like he did last year that's how deep this class is here's reid out front out front by four 4.86 seconds riding uh the race on his terms looks fantastic on the monster energy kawasaki best that we've seen him look in a while here so unless he's in third and yes that is a solid ride considering this is a brand new motorcycle and a lot of mystery with him i feel like a broken record wow look over his shoulder make sure it doesn't hit anybody oh that might be the breath that grant needed yeah it might be just the breather there and uh wow he had one leg off the side of the bike too or both legs on the on the same side if you will take a look at this replay here uh brett metcalf who was running fifth and was just really pressuring now watch when he gets in here to the right side it's a knack knack metcalf adding a new little bit of style here to ama motocross wait a minute we thought this battle for second was over now here's michael's in that 350 and what he has maintained all along jeff and this might be proof is that the smaller lighter bike late in the motor use less energy to ride it and he thinks he'll be strong right after the two lap board comes out low behold he has caught milsaps but there's another guy on a 450 right behind him that's on the gas too yeah and once again uh we've got the three different bikes they're technically just just built completely different and here at the 30 minutes the crowd's starting to go crazy and these three riders are they are wicking it up it's just heart will desire now who's going to push hardest to the finish unlessie all the way to the outside he's got him to use this move earlier on brown milsap's able to hold him off unless he's in a tough spot because here comes grant he opens the door there for grants can't get back to the right side watch grant square him up coming up the hill no he's still trying to square it he goes to the inside and shades of colorado uh grant gets to the inside locks up the brakes unless he's going to try to come back can't make it happen josh grant a clutch move white flag coming out crowd going crazy and hang down one lap to go here and the crowd is going nuts see carlos cheering on millsaps hang on for one more lap buddy [Applause] wow i don't know where this challenge came from i thought grant had lost the left scene unless he had lost millsaps but that two lap board that was some motivation for those guys well in their they're fully aware of where they're at time wise lap wise uh you know the mechanics giving them the signals now last lap time to pull the trigger let it all hang out and for granted that's two more points may not seem like a lot here at the beginning of 24 motors but i think he's got him on the outside did he lift at all going up that hill wide open all the way to the top and josh grant takes over second wow what unbelievable best half a lap that we've seen in a while out of a rider just just blowing past alessi squaring him up and now just around the outside of mill's house so let's see if millsaps has got anything left here looks like he does he's trying to come back after grant unless he's still in the hunt as well battling for this last podium spot well and the thing is for grant if you make one little mistake now that you've passed both these riders they're going to fly right by again so you've got to keep it focused here oh millsaps is not done with grant he's going to try to work him on this rhythm lane using some inside lines read meanwhile as you just saw is headed toward the checkered flag this is great racing we take a look at the reigning champion chad reid he has just came here and executed motor one of the championship to perfection before this motocross tour began there were a lot of questions physically and mentally about chad reed and i think he just answered him he wins moto number one of the lucas soy lame pro bono cross championship grant mill stops alessi they were charging all the way down to the finish line and nearly caught reed at the end great racing and brett metcalf is going to take fifth in his 450 debut here's your results ben townley welcome back it's been two years since he's raced here in the united states he ends up sixth and welcome to the united states ken dedicker with a solid run in eighth ryan dungey 10th man that's tough here we go folks the rock star energy drink hang town classic [Music] and guess who the 350 cc ktm of mike alessi has the start well i guess that the questions have been answered ktm has delivered a brand new machine which is out front here in moto 2 and hangtown and alessi knows how to finish at this track he knows how to get it done davey millsaps second early on here and it's townley up to third and making moves on ryan sipes site's going to try to get tally back and he does sharks in there mike brown read mid-pack yeah read to the right side of your screen just inside the top ten oh tally stuffs mike brown to take the number four spot back and andrew shorts going to try to get them both for on the outside the 29. wow look how chewed up the track is jason this oh and by the end of this moto it is going to be so difficult and so challenging you can see as tally trying to get that troy lee han to turn left and headed back down the hill but this is a good start here for short this is exactly what he needed after that first moto finish tally back in the thick of things for sure welcome back to racing he's got pressure from all angles as he goes after ryan sipes in front and has to deal with his old honda teammate andrew short behind him mike alessi going to try to pull away from his old buddy davey millsaps he's in the number one spot yeah and remember short was 15th in the first motor i'm telling you the key word of the day is contrast it is just i i just have a feeling that this whole motto is gonna be mixed up from what we saw the first motor yeah josh grant remember finished second in moto one if he could finish out for the read here he could win the overall for the day look at townley going back after sipes cyborg oh getting crazy had the honda totally sideways there as he was trying to make a move on sipes couldn't make that move but keep going two hills and then almost comes together with short that's what it's like on the opening lap the first photo folks i think the riders were feeling each other out not here at moto 2 they're going for it well michael is across the line three and a half seconds the lead alessia over millsaps reed is in tenth at the end of last one and dunchy is 13th so another tough start for the new supercross champ and josh grant is 14th so the contenders that we thought would be going for the win coming into this race are in the back there's reed like we said just inside the top ten he got the whole shot and checked out a moto one it's not going to be that easy here in moto 2. he's gonna be eating a lot of roots and remember how clean he was in the first motor just no mud on him at all front number plate was clean just rode his own race right now he's he's getting roosted from all angles with dirt rocks and rice holes rice holes which they've coated the track with to help hold the moisture mike alessi continues to lead here at the hangtown classic but alessi is running a 216 lap time five seconds ahead of millsaps and he is the fastest rider on the track by a couple of seconds so he is absolutely flying out here on this brand new bike the ktm 350. and we say brand new it's not just brand new because the engine displacement is different radically new for ktm their first fuel-injected motor cross bike and their first moto cross bike in over 20 years with a linkage for the rear shock cons considering all the new developments it's amazing this bike is ready to race as they like to say right from the get-go there's millsaps in the number two spot not able to hang with alessi at least early on but in position to score solid points today if it ended like this alessi would just edge millsaps for the overall but we've got a lot of racing to go see the countdown clock the top of your screen 22 minutes plus and two laps in this moto here's 56 56-7 ryan sipes andrew short chad reed sipes fourth is metcalf third is townley so reed's got to get in there and mix it up with those riders to try to salvage the overall will reed try to cut back to the inside cut to the inside's the line i'm telling you these guys are now trying to stay tight here coming up this uh that hill but for reed and short for that matter they were getting so much roost there what a move by reed he just would not give that up but just took the three or four quarters finally made the pass so he's up to six here's the determination of a champion right there as reed puts shorts behind him and goes after ryan seif to get in the top five how about this battle jeff for second ben townley closing on millsaps he's got it on the outside let's see if millsaps can fight on the inside milsap squares him up here some yellow flags out let's see who's down ryder off the track there what a pass here and what a ride for vintelli right now the overall is a lessee millsaps read on points but the only writer who can really gain anything right now is read unless he's already getting maximum points out oh reed where the heck did he find that line wow he had the line there just came in hot and i gotta say but sipes left the door wide open on that one and in that turn there's two lines that actually crisscross right into apex and that could have been bad news if sipes had tried to stay in it next on the list for reid if he can hold off sipes will be fellow australian brett metcalf coming into this race a lot of talk about chad reid versus ryan dungy right now reed is in fifth dungey is in ninth mike alessi has checked out he's got a 12 second lead over ben townley davey millsaps brett metcalf and then reid in fifth not what we expected at hang town good news for chad reed ben talney has made a mistake and has dropped back to the number six spot so reed moving forward and now in position possibly the overall he doesn't have to make many more passes well it reads charging right now you see the bike jumping around a little bit on him but for the most part it seems like chad and the bike and this kawasaki 450 are really working uh together with uh looks like two minutes so we probably have three more laps to go in this moto and uh chad reads pushing forward and he'll get the signal from his mechanic and he needs this one extra spot here which is brett metcalf if he's going to take the overall home here but still oh did you see how big that rock was it got kicked out and watch this here watch as reed comes around this bottom sweeper he starts to square it up and you can see all those little white spots watch right here gets kicked out right about here easily the size of a softball shrapnel yeah look out here he comes on metcalf gonna go to the inside wow that was quick that's the move for the overall and watcher reed does oh last lap around he actually tripled through there now i'm not sure if they'd give it to the math from the pit board or not but uh reed might have enough time to go after millsaps anyway it doesn't need it but it's still more championship points michael leslie now the lap to go reed is going to win this overall though with a 1-3 but that's the way the points would stack up that's the championship points first it's gonna be close going into our next race the freestone national in texas in two weeks like we said fastest lap times of the moto got the whole shot a lead of about five and a half seconds over millsaps that's because unless he has really backed it down it was over 10 seconds at one point it is as dominant as dominant could be for chad reed and moto one and for michael lessie and moto 2 that sets up a great championship fight throughout the summer coast-to-coast here in the united states so glad we'll have the coverage here on speed and if you're stefan everest and everyone that came over from austria to watch alessi make the debut of this 350 cc motorcycle he won't win the overall but really you can't ask her much more than this yeah but being strong in the second motor that's what alessi stated is that i think it it it takes less energy to ride this bike and overall i think i can go as fast on it if not faster and he's proved that today well the mike alessi experiment is obviously in play the 350 wins here at hang town and davey millsaps a solid run finishes second chad reed takes third from deep in the pack he will take the overall win great racing here at hang town mike alessia's happy so is chad reed well he mentioned how close this championship is going to be as we head into our next race to texas here's the example look how close the point standings are between the top three pretty tight there in the top three and there's so many races left here but the run key thing here is you look down here is ryan dungy way down an eighth with only 26 overall points for the day typically he's used to getting 25 in a motor for a win no doubt he's gonna have to pick it up there are so many riders that can run and possibly win this race don't forget about the teammates for parcell jake weimer dean wilson tyler ratchet don't forget the teammates for the honda boys you guys like trey canard blake fort let's go racing is going to lead them into turn one will he leave them out of it yes he does unbelievable cole sealy is right behind him on the troy lee lucas honda and then it is poor cell but the kid is out front again there's some fans just like are you kidding me yeah wow i thought that hang town was just uh you know the planets lined up hey man with i was sitting just right next to the fence by that corner when he came by in practice and just thought man that was fast that was really fast he spent the rest of the practice kind of messing with purcell just going hey where's the fastest guy okay i'm gonna go and uh just bother him for a while he came out of that corner and cleared that double i didn't even see anybody in the 450 class doing that because the burn was messed up but still this kid is he's got plans yeah now after he won at hang town i said maybe he should be tired because then he could retire undefeated but uh maybe he can just keep this streak going right now as he leads his second race cole silly there in second trying to keep some heat on but that's going to be tough tomak is on the gas wow look at that he jumped about 10 feet further than seeley did over that waltz i'm blown away right now i get a camera on my face i i'm smiling so i'm like laughing like this kid is just doing everything perfect so far yeah he is landing every time it looks like he's jumping too far he ends up landing in the perfect spot it's like it's all measured once once it's finally complete hey he's got a lot of laughs left to ride before the checkered flag that's what i've seen so far i am so impressed what breaking bumps into that corner seeley is there and also blake wharton that's the teammate of tomac battling with purcell for the number three spot but we got a long way to go in this motor [Applause] wharton and familiar weather and surroundings yeah yep good at those long berms really good at keeping his foot up and out of the way a lot of riders would go through a long berm like that and dab see that foot just one little tiny dab right there but that wasn't a mistake that was the end of the berm he was done having his foot out front got good fundamentals through ruts you know i talked to eli tomac and he said the rider that he follows the most or watches the most is chad reed for that very reason he said you very rarely see reed dab his foot oh work made one mistake there through the whoops and for sell is it too early to use the term crafty french right there takes advantage of mistake and takes over third four seconds is the gap between this ride or the 200 of sealy in second and the leader tomac and celie is about to feel some pressure from the 377 of course still though if you're sealy this is the best run he's ever had in a moto outdoor so he's happy with this getting to see the pace out front a 206. what from tomahawk that's faster than anyone in the 450 class now the guys are leaping that sand wall into the whoops but sealy able to match porcelle through there now porcell begins to close wow this is a lot of pressure on seeley yeah and porcelain to the inside and in classic for sale fashion no contact needed whatsoever he just puts the bike where you are not and gets around look at izzy going after blake ward and nico a renaissance time for him he moves up to the number four position missed the entire season last year braced only a handful of super crosses this year a lot of people were giving up on this guy but he is back with a vengeance at least early and work don't look back you got your teammate trey canard ready to take fit [Music] baggett has gotten by durham and now he's gonna get by canard canard's gonna have to hold it all the way around the outside side by side over this double who's going to have the inside of the right hand or it'll be canard bag it's got the long way around he might still make it work and he does and fittingly over that rockstar jump the rockstar suzuki rider takes over the number six spot from canard unbelievable that was impressive [Music] wanted that so bad he blew right through these guys yeah he's passed every one of them he was behind durham at one point now dorm will be under pressure from the 12 of weimer in just a moment the baggage not waiting he's going to go after wharton canard couldn't get him baggage wants to he's great at those outside lines i've seen him out west and practicing his star west and uh riding those long berms around the outside so fast there's a little video clip of him on the internet it almost looked like somebody sped it up he's good at those lines and look at him he wants to get to the outside here in this next right-hander he's going to double in ah but wharton is able to get that line covered and hold him off to the outside goes back again smart move beautiful he knew where that was going to put him for that little jump right there and that was smart he thought through well he's been coming through the pack so he's had to make some passes and he knows what's working as he runs into silly just in the front of our camera and manages to take over that number three position great racing out here he woke up on the right side of the bed today big now baggett goes after sealy how quickly did maggot close the gap on these two gonna try going outside of the darn racetrack to hold an outside line nice unbelievable he did a really good job of staying within the you know inbounds right there i mean he got pushed off but he still rode the edge and now that was that was fair and square actually a little more technical what he did well i was gonna say it's one thing to cut a track around the inside but when you cut it around the outside really no excuses he's going that much faster twice as much racetrack to basically cover and he's not done he has closed right up on nico izzy and just like that blake pacquiao has gone to third this is unbelievable he passed about what four or five riders and two laps yeah wow he's moving back it was right up there in uh practice times as well so maybe we shouldn't be that surprised and i know that he spends a lot of time here riding in texas his uh teammate hunter hewitt who's actually the son of the team owner bobby hewitt they're from texas so he has plenty of opportunity to ride and train down here and he's riding this track like he's used to it you know watching his amateur career it he didn't just dominate you know barsha and a couple other guys sort of upstaged him but i look at him a little bit like what happened to villopoto in his amateur career it wasn't that impressive he was always getting upstaged by alessi but what he was always doing back there oh no wait a minute something has gone wrong with the motorcycle bomber unbelievable baggage landed from that wall jump into the sand loops and just like that the pike has let go and now it's time for ryder to play mechanic yeah be careful as soon as he landed it seemed like just cut out everything's good good gives it some throttle right there look good now watch when he lands it's just dead nothing and i'm i'm you know i'm not a mechanic and i if it was a two-stroke i might know more what to say i don't think yeah i don't think blake's a mechanic either he's gonna try to bump start that thing actually got it going uh i'm not exactly sure what the situation was there we'll check back in with him a little bit later and go back to our leader oh and a rider behind him darren durham goes down and down hard oh and that's what you're talking about that heat will catch up to you quickly when you go down yeah he hit his head really hard the visor that goggles oh man better i got a battle oh and for self we might have to bust out the nickname thomas gives a look over as he pulls a tear off here's your battles tomac gonna go back after him he had a gap a little while ago and purcell had messed up did a 2-16 what are you doing i i hate to interrupt but he's playing games right i guess that's what it is he's trying to show the kid who the man is in this class [Music] we got to focus on this battle for third dean wilson going after trey canard and for man born in scotland and raised in canada doing all right and triple digit temperatures out here in texas he's going after the oklahoman for third oh there he goes the 108 of dean wilson takes third away from canard cargo to try to fight back some big head shake and that slowed him just enough for wilson to put the bike in front and block and take over third back to the leader porcell wilson third canard fourth rat trade fifth i don't know if corcell's backed it off but you can never really tell the difference between full speed and going slow for him checker flag coming out and kristoff porcell wins motor number one in texas and still battling look at this right down to the stripe canard [Music] rad tray and look at this oh a nice job by weimer to get rat straight back rat train past weimer and then weimer makes a move and gets back around his teammate at the strike for fifth will reset the order was porcelle tomac wilson one two three canard weimer rattray four five six then work tickle han and marsha we believe will round out the top ten they're still circulating back there florida sideways purcell with that inside gate let's go racing good start for purcell not good enough again grabs the whole shot but he's got dean wilson on his right wilson is probably a little bit over the fact that other rookies have been overshadowing him this year he wants to challenge the 243 and let's have at it kristoff parcell way back probably about 30th place and we see blake baggett jake weimer also deep in the pack so things have changed one thing that hasn't tomac up front and boat on one end here at moto 2. you know coming right from the amateur scene same with wilson okay look at both these guys up front they're so used to sprinting shorter motors you know yeah maybe they fade a little towards the end but i think that's to be expected these kids will figure that out as time goes on it's gonna be a good challenge here to see if wilson wilson could hang with the rider used to battle as an amateur just a bit and blake wharton texan into the number three position really nice fundamentals from leela he just showed it through that corner right there he got into that berm and if he would have stayed off the power like you normally do when you settle into a berm like that he would have dabbed his foot and scuffed some speed but he's heard him get on the power real early to keep his balance and stay in the sweet spot of that run well i've heard eli say that chad reed is the rider he really looks up to especially over the fact that reed never dabs his feet in corners and his dad john tomek makes some practice figure eights at home to keep those basics and that paid off right there that could have been a crap well his dad spent most of his career clipped in he doesn't know how to definitely maybe they'll eventually hit that with motocross you never know but as good as tomac looks he is not able to shake the 108 of the scotland-born canadian raised dean wilson who's right there shadowing him in the number two spot here's will hahn and tyler rattray in fourth and fifth better start for ratre this time and uh he's gonna get stronger as the race goes on i would i would predict you know the guy he looks like he could eat the racetrack he's so strong look at his posture on the bike just let me just bend these bars it's my liking gradually the uh former gp champ out of south africa and uh we're looking for canard it just came through and finally we see porcell now and porcell just knocked out the door the top ten and he's battling with his good buddy justin parshall a little early to start talking about it but i can't help but mention it it looks good for tomac in the overall yeah we're only about five minutes into this race but uh the 377 or four cell is really going to have to work hard after winning moto one to even get near the podium in moto 2 and if he can't do that he might just lose the whole darn overall race day and you don't want the kid to win two in a row yeah that's pretty i'm blown away oh marsha ah not able to hang on to it good job to save it it's hard to ride a rut that's like 100 yards long you know it takes incredible balance and he just got slightly off in that rut right there it was a good save takes some energy to do that but he only lost one spot and to a guy like purcell who you can maybe sort of mark for the rest of the race maybe he can uh latch on and follow purcell he's already making pass he's gonna say you know he's going to the front he just blows past michael willard and the honda of troy bike back to our leaders tomac and wilson maybe near the top ten what do you see that was a cool line right there hit that breaking bump just hopped everything so he's uh i don't see any sign of especially on the throttle through there the way he just rode that sweeper i don't see him like going yeah that first mode took a lot out of me i don't see any of that right now but we got 20 minutes to go [Applause] wow nice move by canard to hit the jump faster looks like it's gonna work oh han's gonna fight back side by side finally trey canard is able to get that spot so he is into fourth the 108 of wilson he's searching for a way or got the pass made dean wilson and he does a little up on the pegs of his own through that section it looked like tomak just took a breath right there like okay all right wow it's not over yet but let me catch my breath figure out where this guy's faster and see what happens you know but you got purcell clear back in eight so both these kids you know the overalls looking good tyla has passed trey canard to get into that third place spot [Music] if it was only two laps left i'd think that tyler had a pretty good chance to catch eli and uh some mistakes there from kenard he takes a look over his shoulder and realizes one more mistake and brock tickle might be able to get him and this is the brock tickle style you usually don't see him around the first 10 minutes of the photo but late tickle is a charger kind of the same way rattray is i don't know if these guys ever get tired or at least tired of the point where it slows their lap times he is solid and finally we see the 377 of porcell so porcella is in eighth he's been in eighth for quite some time there is more time left in this race room to make some passes but i don't know if there's enough for him to get close enough to preserve the overall oh wait a minute tyler rapture has caught and now past eli tomac and what tomak is dealing with right now is what the track doctors are kind of warned about the rider sometimes is the last to realize what he's going for they'll just keep riding on instinct and they want the teams to stay on top of their guys if they really drop off the pace pull them in before they struggle with potentially more problems you can get sick you know this could linger i don't know if someone's that bad but you got to be aware of it no he's just being smart right now brock tickle here he's third fourth is his teammate anstey that's the best run of the year we've seen so far advanced although hey it's only the fourth motor of the season so the star racing dna shred sticks riders are doing well here in third and fourth place anstey actually closes in a bit on tickle he doesn't care that tickle's got the strong man reputation he's gonna keep the heat on him and porcela porcelain's up to fifth with trey kennard sixth will han and now tomak back to eighth um this is a sand wall jump that he's headed to but i think he's pretty much already hit the wall his lap times dropped up by 17 seconds and again this is what the track doctors warn people of you got to be careful about pushing yourself too hard in this heat let's hope he can just get to the finish line to get some points out of this hard to say if he fell perhaps and his goggles got all messed up he took him off or if he took him off just to get some air to his face and try to survive this last part of the race wow dean wilson the pride of both scotland and canada and also california and in what is only his second professional ama motocross race he did race supercross earlier this year but uh this is his first time around on the outdoor tour he's gonna win although look out tyler rattray has caught dean wilson as wilson tired is he cruising does he know he's there uh just now he better get on the gas uh anyway they were able to get the paperwork filed he missed two supercross races and he's sure glad that he got back because now he will get to enjoy the spoils of victory if he can hold off tyler rattray and like we said ratchet didn't get tired of these things he's right there uh yeah tickle's not that far behind either this top three closing up in the final lap and partially because dean was going all right cool i'm gonna win i'm gonna win the mode i'm gonna wait whoa whoa maybe not but the overall still looks good yeah even if rattray gets him yeah retro is a few spots further back in that first photo so he doesn't really have to worry about him for the overall what what is he is he going to let him have it he better hope that they've done the math right there wow uh heart of belief though now it's going to be a second career moto victory in the u.s for tyler ratchet he won one last year at southwick what is dean doing i don't know it looks like maybe tipple's going to get around them as well in a hurry never quite seen anything like this i mean you can't do that much math in your head you got to be careful that you don't give this whole darn thing away tyler wins the moto yeah and tickle he's going to fight for every position and he gets past wilson that was i don't understand what i i think he just threw it away i don't understand what has happened to dean wilson down the stretch he is going to lose the overall by one point if he had held on for second he would have edged purcell trey canard heat exhaustion all down the finish ends up fifth and eli tomac six that was a rough day for him well now it's official it is beyond africa hot out here in texas wow here are the points after uh rough late photos for uh toe back porcell now has established himself as the points leader towards hyde coming in take a look at the far inside right here that's ryan dungey wearing white he's got a nice spot kind of control the inside and it's brett metcalf who's going to lead them across the stripe for the number 24 bunch of riders down here in the first turn metcalf very solid in both motors in hang town and out front here dungy not far behind him moving to the number two spot battling with michael byrne i'd love to see mehdi out front that's so cool for so long i've thought man i i think he would do good on a 450 and i'm sure i'm not the only one and here he is with the opportunity to prove it well he apparently thought so and uh the team had to bring in eli tomac you might have heard of for the 250 class so metcalf moved up that's actually the bike kevin windham raced and super cross and he looks good on i don't see any alessi we don't see alexey with the traditional good starter right yeah and uh reed just came through there just inside the top 10. still i haven't seen a lesson unless he managed to slip to the inside of our camera meanwhile michael berm putting up a fight with ryan dungy for second yeah that gibbs outfit knows how to build a motor yeah there it is dungy on the outside long way around a lot of options on this track we had talked to a couple riders during practice and can you figure out what the best options are early in a moto or even with the parade lap or is it going to take a few laps to figure out where to go now that they've uh just dressed the track up slightly before the start of this mode just to try to create you know more lines and stuff i mean you can see some dozer tracks here and there so the pace will be pretty quick in this first lap and uh looks like dungey got the inside right there but burn has it in the next corner oh nice squeeze out yeah dungy made it happen so there we go we said that burma was given to the challenge dungey finally found one of those good lines and got around it but look at the diff the uh damage and the distance heading into the sandwich for the first time and they changed it a little bit man we sat there in practice and watched them pre-jumping from this little well there's a little bump there before the big one and reed and millsaps and townley were just floating that thing and the crowd was going nuts there's reid let's see how reid plays this and he's under pressure now from millsaps and guess who mike alessi so our podium finishers from our first round of hang town are all battling it out again but just inside the top ten while dungey who needed a chance to hit the reset button has it running up front with metcalf look at mill stops going after reed millsaps on the 18 still leaning on reed now he goes to the inside he's gonna make the pass reid's gonna control the inside and this next right-hander middlestops doesn't care he's gonna rail it all the way around and make the move that was sweet and reed right back around him that's gotta be fun for these guys they get along pretty well on and off the track as we go back to dungey who has closed the gap now on metcalf metcalf by the way has never won a moto in ama competition he has come close so many times on a 250. and the man on the move is ben townley a lot of people picking in the sky after they watch him in practice and look at that he goes to the inside on michael byrne and takes over third townley is headed for the front and unless these other guys can hitch a ride we're talking about burn and also tommy hondor behind him and then a little further back you got that reed milsap celesti group unless they can hit your eye with the one-on-one they might not see him again he is on fire now we go back to the leaders metcalf trying to cover every line in the track manages to make it happen at least for the moment yeah it's starting to look like dungey's going to get around him eventually the rest of it you know i don't want to jump the gun with thinking what what medi would do i'm just thinking what what i would be thinking you know if i got a guy on my tail like that breathing down my neck it's a long day and you know one position isn't going to kill you looks like han pulled off that pass on burn then it's regal and millsaps has secured the spot from reed so millsaps on the gas oh alessi almost comes off almost runs into taran odell there in the 771 so alessi just gave up three spots the 55 is kyle chisholm went right through the middle of that said thank you very much man there's some traffic back there leslie just used to being out front in the clear to go back to the leaders how about the role reversal from hang town to hear around two in texas dungey was the man way back in the pack while unless he was out front now dungey has a golden opportunity to try to steal a moto win well unless he has to fight through the back of the top ten but metcalf is not making it easy on dungey right now these guys aren't strangers to each other they've battled on 250s the last couple of years and dungey won this race on the 250 last year and he's gonna go for the win here riding the tightrope on the inside trying to stay away from the hay bales he's got to run that millsaps line around the outside somebody use the radio point him to that berm yeah he just stuffed it back inside he's going to try it again he's trying every inside line metcalf able to weather another storm you know he's using a lot of energy too when he makes those surges and decides okay i'm gonna eat some roost and try to make a move each time it doesn't work he's like oh okay yeah that's it let's go back to third who is townley and tommy hahn on the number 10 is staying right with him and as we said if these guys want to go to the front hitch arrive at town lane that's what han has been able to do burn has not burned him fit but he's lost some ground tally's putting himself in good position right now oh and metcalf is starting to feel it from dungey who is going to try again you get a little glimpse on occasion the third place rider townley hoping these guys slow each other up or even knock each other down and dungey's playing this smart though like you said david he's played it clean he's tried to make passes but he hasn't really forced the issue no rubbing or racing yet he tried it for five straight laps in that section and this time he's going to make the pass so ryan dungey into the lead and perhaps things are back where they should have been he was the favorite going into the opening round at hang town struggled to ten six moto finishes at the opener and look who is mechanic mike gosling's keeping an eye on they're not worried about metcalf they're worried about townley meanwhile let's focus in on reed going after burn for six can already see a difference in chad and uh starting to find some lines he likes but you gotta give burn credit he doesn't care if reads the champ or not he's giving him a run let's go back to dungey our leader and once he finally got around metcalf he has absolutely dropped him dungey is four seconds faster than metcalf three seconds faster than townley and han he has put the pedal to the middle here townley now has gotten into second place and now we watch han going after metcalf for third so the dam has busted right now on metcalf and he really got a feel from brett because he's he put up such a fight to hold off dungey reed is an outside shot at making a run we might be able to go for a fourth or maybe even third reed on fire into that sand section he probably made up about 15 bike lengths right there he's going to make a run han has gotten metcap so haunted third metcalf in fourth reed is in fifth but for how long now we hear that alessi has had more problems here he is going after davey millsaps trying to work his way toward the top five gonna work his old buddy on the outside and it goes down wow you know i think that's come loose and i believe is that fuel pouring out of the top of the bike yeah yes gas caps hanging loose we might still have a battle here for a second the two-lap board is not quite out yet and reed has been tally in his sights so let's see if reed can close in on townley remember countley has not raced really much at all since 2007. and i am really really impressed with what reid's doing right now eighth overall last week at hang town with 10-6 moto scores and just like that ryan dungey has turned it around and he is going to win in dominant fashion here at motor number one at freestone he has a 26 second lead over the rest of the pack and that is proof of deep competition a bad start a mistake a fall here and there and completely changed the running order in the 450 class this year and you know this for the last probably five to ten minutes he's been able to go into cruise control a little bit and save some energy for the next moto where chad on the other hand has been like really on fire he was a second faster the last lap and i think now that he's secured his grip on second he's able to cruise a little bit but you know i did i think uh dungy i mean he's got a feel like okay i'm back where i belong and i'm gonna win the second model too i don't care if i get a start or not i just i feel great today he takes a little glance over his shoulder no one on the lead lap that he can see he is way out in front and headed for his first moto win incidentally ever on a 450 in the united states we tend to forget that he's a rookie in this class after winning supercross but he's in the record books ryan dungey wins the 450 class motor number one here at freestone josh grant rallying at the end to take fifth and brett metcalf drops to seventh so obviously that battling early in the motor with dungey must have taken a lot out of it mike alessi got that bad start in moto one was never really able to recover from that can he get back to his patented pole shot style here in motor number two let's find out as we go racing here on speed looks good unless he's on the outside but they're going to get edged out again by metcalf and a big pile up that might be trying to figure out i think you're right david i think that's been townley third and moto one down in the first turn slow to get up too looked like he got run over oh man chad reid doing a nice job to close out uh ryan dungey on the inside but again metcalf andrew leslie yeah this is four big hitters metcalf who's up front of moto one then alessi reed dungy throw a blanket over these guys early unless he able to maintain that i thought reed had him covered unless he's able to get that second place spot under under wraps and now go after metcalf who is strong earlier moto one but faded back to seventh late now i figured for metcalf he got a taste of what it's like to run up front in that first moto and he dropped all the way back to seventh before the moto end i think he can do better than that this time he's in shape and i think he might have been a little nervous this time i think he'll have a little bit better shot at staying up there at least in the top five interesting battle shaping up here second and third alessi versus reed and by the way short has gotten around dungy to move it forward oh unless he almost threw it away we saw him almost crashed there in the first moto feed off the pegs it's a real sandy section right there and he you know you see villapoto you know back when he wished he could be out here can you imagine how much better that would be but phillipoto a lot of times so secure with what he's doing in the line he's in he doesn't care if his feet are on the pegs or not and that's what mike was doing right there that was no big deal here's dungey trying to come back on a short who's battling outreach so shortly mention how fresh he is he didn't get to race that first moto as aaron mentioned because they couldn't get the bike started so he's all full of energy right now look at this wow going after reid and shorts got the fans on his side too because he lives trains here in texas and he's got the spot well you know he's motivated yeah and fresh and but the thing is is other than the sight lap they just took it's been a long time since he saw that track so to try to nail the setup with suspension and tires and all that stuff you know he's it's a little bit more difficult to sit around all that time and come out and just hit the ground running more company kyle regal another texan challenging dungey these guys are not messing around they don't care that reed and dungey have all these big championships under their belt it's certainly the moto and it's go time first moto being a little bit smoother than uh reed would like but man it's it's rough now and the water they put down that's starting to get mixed in already so oh that's a bad line by reading the outside and dungey's just going to calmly walk through on the inside line take that spot for me to get them back no and we've seen this time and time again from read outdoors it just seems like it takes him a few laps to get that fire lit that's what happened to moto one yeah i think he's more comfortable on the racetrack right now though lots of lines to choose from a little rougher so it won't take him as long this time and he knows the way dungey wrote that first moto he's got to stay with him if he lets him go he may never see him again there's no way uh reid wants to give that kind of momentum back to the man who won the ama supercross championship just about a month ago so reed's got to try to stay with him although he's got more company from regal look at regal i know it challenging last year's champ it's all sorts of mixed up here in texas as brett metcalf tries to get away and mike alessi tries to chase him down what about ryan dunchy going for the overall there's so much to watch here in texas mike alessi just got zapped by andrew short and since short lives in texas he probably doesn't mind the blazing sun either and he just made that pass yeah shorts looking really good it's not just a start that enables him to run up front here he's running up front because he's got the speed to do it making his pass on alessi and may be able to win this moto and with shorted second a battle brewing for third between the 800 and alessi and the five of dungey and then it's regal who's staying close to dungey and they've got some room on reed look at leslie trying to come back on short now on the outside over the top of that that's where he fell in the first moto and i just think in the first moto not getting the start and getting in a hurry trying to get through the pack it that he was just maybe thinking a little bit too much just out of his usual routine and a couple of mistakes one of them coming right there in that corner and then another one later where he fell off and this motor he's got that all sorted out what has gotten into alessi not only is he taking second back but he is on the verge of grabbing the lead he is all over metcalf it's time to go he knows you know it believe me these guys they don't have their mirrors it's time to chase you off but he's got the lead hey if he cut off metcalf i guess i could cut off david bailey so alessian valid short is all over metcalf for second dungey right behind him regal right behind dungey and lurking but i wouldn't say challenging yet is reed [Music] good line by dungey good idea railing around that outside trying to have the inside of the next car oh i think it's working side by side with short who's gonna jump further into this wall and they almost catch metcalf in the interim and somehow dungey able to grab the third place spot and that was unbelievable i was on the edge of my seat for that because you would get a little squirrely through those loops and man if that backhand gets away from you out to one side or the other when you hit the next one it bounces the other way and that that could get ugly all right business as usual for aaron bates patrolling the pits what's happening aaron well guys brett mckevin said his starts were not where they needed to be back at hang town so what he did during that weekend off all he's done is practice starts every single day so he's got his starts dialed in but now it's just a matter of making it through this entire motive well that might have been the jinx we talked about him first unless he falls metcalf takes the lead for about one second and then dungey strikes and gets the lead from metcalf take us to what happened alessi now he got into that run he's had a hard time with corners today he's just like needs glasses or something you know i'm not making fun of them it just ah and there's dungey gonna just dance down to the inside and take it from mecca so metcalf had the lead for 10 feet yeah metcalf had to adjust his line because of alessi i think and then dungey just capitalized on it crash like that takes so much out of you it's gonna be tough for him to recover metcalf second short third regal fourth and we're still waiting for chad reed reed you know he's he's still right there nothing to be concerned about but this win today not only puts dungy back on track but the way it's looking so far is really going to help mount the points chad reed finally found that line he just jumped over kyle regal to take over fourth he did it from the left side and moto when he does it from the right in moto too same result pretty impressive when chad just decides to go hard hey mike alessi picking it back up literally after a crash and usually after that all that humidity catches up to you but no he's shrugging it off and getting strong again yeah it's been a crummy day that's the corner right there where he fell you see how many different berms there are so he got in there and didn't have his decision made apparently it didn't put the front wheel exactly where it needed to be and you know look right there through that berm if you put your front wheel two inches to the left or two inches to the right that's a mistake and a potential crash and mike's had a couple of those today it's got to be frustrating for him reid is trying everything to get around short and regal is trying everything to get around reid i don't think reid inspects this look at that a pass executed beautifully by kyle regal on chad reed man this is a this is big this is a huge upset you know chad's back there going what just happened all right here is regal around the outside not there to cover it and regal takes over third amazing ride now shorts gonna try to fight back doing the same thing regal did to him working that smoother outside line look out boys beautiful piece of riding from kyle great racing here in texas the raver eagles going let's see if he can go after metcalf for a career best second in this moto now chad looks like he's not happy with where he's sitting you can see in his intensity that's picked up a bit that he wants to get by uh short and pass regal back like hey i can't have that happening make a move now he's close enough to do his uh a little trick into the sand after this left there's that little hump heading into the sand he's trying to set that up it's like he's two different riders one part of the track he's kind of sloppy and then this all of a sudden he's super strong and leaps past andrew short hard earned pass this is a battle for fourth these guys are going at it like it's for the moto win ryan dungy continues to maintain the lead here and all the people wondering what's up ryan dungy you don't need to ask that question anymore nothing's up except his results he's gonna go 1-1 here in the heat of texas ryan dungey dominates here in texas we still got some good racing going on out of the track millsaps comes through he is a lap down look at how close it is down to the line reed trying to go after regal it's not gonna happen kyle regal second place in the moto reed takes third and metcalf gonna hold on for fourth over short unless he dusted himself off fought back through the pack and ended up in 50 past andrew short right at the finish josh grant struggled a bit there tent that's not where he wants to be kyle regal the career best second is her overall they did the math regal on the podium third overall that's his first career podium can't say he didn't earn that one but you see the big damage done dungey made up eight points on reed today let's go racing in the 250 class [Music] and the pro circuit army leads them through porcell and rattray across the stripe first purcell with the red plate he's the points later in the tour ratchet on the outside but look out here comes justin barsha wow did you see barsha rattray everyone as they came in to turn two bars already pulled two tear offs now and we're only a quarter of the way around the track he's trying to pull off a pass right now and go past purcell well no love lost between these two well that's exactly what he needs to do is try to as porcell gets the whole shot if he thinks he's comfortable is you have to shock the guy you in the lead you got to get out there and get after it because if not now you're going to be behind you're going to start pulling tear offs your bike's going to get heavier you're going to get mud all over the front of your jersey your number plate your front fender and that huge double jump that just went through it everyone's singling the double because of the change in the weather conditions that's rattray we're looking at the right side of the screen of the 28 he is third oh and it's oh man it's coming down bad now and it's going to be brutal right now because of the the loss of traction out there some of those spots are really slippery the ruts are gonna get deep and challenging that way plus as the rain keeps coming down the bike's gonna get heavier the track's gonna get sloppier well you can already tell the 48 there of antsy look at the front fender flopping around you get so much weight under the fenders they start flopping over they start sagging he's battling with tommy searle a fellow englishman right now downhill that's right and if there's two riders that have grown up racing in the mud and these type of conditions it's going to be antsy and tommy cyril both riders from like jason said from the uk and you ride any of the british championships you have to to be british champion you have to know how to ride the mud all right let's see if that experience pays off right now they are inside the top five duking it out as purcell tries to get away from barsha and rattray then it's antsy on the blue and then the orange of uh cyril cyril rode so well at hang town then hurt his shoulder late in the day there and basically just tried to salvage some points in texas was 12th place so hopes to improve on that today and they're headed back toward the uh finish line area that'll be the first lap complete here in the 250 class we're just trying to pick out the numbers is that blake wharton that's 21. yeah that's wharton oh oh into the fence but uh luckily he seems to be okay but the problem is the bike is wedged i don't think i've ever seen anything like that looks like he took a pretty hard hit to the chest he hit right on that fence post and it stopped abruptly watch this replay as he comes over the finish line watch here he comes on the right-hand side of your screen and watch him fade to his right his hand was off the bars when he took off uh we'll do our best to try to figure out exactly what's going on with max the 17 year old in his second professional season and he's shaken up at the very least and remember earlier this season he had an injury to his hip also that's a pretty scary moment meanwhile we'll go a little bit further back riders down all over the place here early in these slick conditions not sure who that is quite yet oh that's one of the uh that's one of the geico guys that looks like les smith and maybe uh trey trey they they ended up crashing on top of each other's bikes now canard able to get back and les smith able to get back on his machine so definitely bad luck for canard 38 one of the championship contenders this year nearly won this race a year ago and he's way back now uh meanwhile let's watch the 17 of barsha who has not gotten a good start in any of the four motives to start our series off finally has one today that's exactly what he needed right now poor cells out front marsha sitting second place right now and watch him as he's trying to find some nice smooth lines around the track all right there is rattray on the 28 now actually we've lost purcell it's what has happened it is basha and rattray the transponder screen says one two third is searle and purcell back to fourth so another mistake from the frenchman he's made a couple of them so far this year here it is the man in orange is searle the man in green is purcell who was your leader he's now fourth oh so bosh is in the lead and the the two europeans got to battle it out here third and fourth and it shows how quickly things could change especially in this 250 class it looks like purcell has made his way past porcell had the whole shot and had the lead early in this moto then he fell back to fourth had to get around cyril cyril there on the orange and now weimer in the hunt as well then behind weimer you got wilson wharton baggett matt lemoine and martin davalos in tenth couple of other contenders we saw were down early such as trey canard and he is 23rd right now canard and watch uh just on the left side there of uh jake weimer's uh hip area he's got a towel right dog now this is it he goes right around the outside of searle nice job and he's gonna hold it wait a minute we got a battle wharton is going after the 108 of wilson so wharton no goggles doesn't care he's going to try to make passes oh and they're they got a couple of slower rides yeah i think so oh and that just holds up wilson there wilson was lucky to escape look at warden working the outside and switching back to the inside this is a battle for sixth oh there he is he's hammered to wheel literally and that knocks wharton down and that's the kind of luck that texan has had all season long man trying to make a pass on the guy who's been maybe the fastest so far this season and just like that orton is uh losing oh he's down again just could not get the bike stood up and get he was on the low side of the bike and look at all the rats across here they were just going all that way and did he stall the bike after all that effort to not stall it uh-oh something's going on here it's just a problem justin barcia is on the gas and he is on fire he's figured something out here for high point and uh he's got a lead of nine and a half seconds of a rat tray and rattray the veteran former champ on the gp tour in europe he might just say hey it's muddy it's slippery second is as good as first if i can win the next moto so marsha's begun to pull away from rattray and uh certainly making up for a couple of finishes that were off the pace from where he expected himself to be here we go we're looking for uh tyler rattray there he is in green comes in green right there monster energy pro circuit kawasaki this guy is a force to be reckoned with this season there's no doubt about it yeah he has stepped up last year's first year here on the tour uh so-so won a moto at southwick but obviously he wanted to be in the championship hunt and he wasn't that might be the case here in 2010 nice solid run for rat tray and then third place is christophe forcell who uh says that he won the championship last year in his own mind uh he definitely gave ryan dungey a good run but dungey did eventually edge him right now purcell is the point leader that's why he runs the red plate on his bike and that'll make it a little easier for us to pick him up when he does come through and there he is putting another rider lap down no wait a minute that's not a lap rider that's jake weimer who has caught purcell wow this is those situations where you see porcell he looks like he's writing so easy yeah and he doesn't get flustered and and like you know get out of control he almost gets more mellow whenever somebody's trying to pass him he just kind of smooths out says okay i gotta stick my lines no mistakes that's just how he rides i'm telling you he's got his hands full right now because jake weimer he is not happy with how this season this championship has gone whatsoever well it's a similar situation of arsha just try to block that out and and keep doing what you're doing oh and goes down oh man it's putting pressure on purcell and i don't want to say that once again they had him right where they wanted him and the frenchman was able to escape but that's pretty much what just happened and the bad news for weimar not only does he not pass purcell but i think we saw cyril and wilson slither on by around the outside the gap is about 10 seconds between barshen rattray there's rat train in the number two spot good solid points for him if he can hold on to this spot and he was 11 and a half seconds down now he's under 11 seconds down so he's making up ground late in the race not enough to really be a threat uh for barsha the track keeps getting faster another fast lap for blake bag it fasts in the moto let's go back to porcell looking back there he's trying to hug the inside can he get to drive he's close he got it jeff i think he's got it now it's gonna curl back to the right at the bottom of this hill bag it looks over he's got the wheels in front of porcell blake baggett into the number three spot looking for his first podium minimoto ever last lap here for our leader justin varsha headed toward the checkered flag marsha is going to win this one it's the last turn but uh wilson and for still purcell still duking it out for fourth checkered flag is out and justin barcia is on the board in 2010 with his first moto victory rattray south african finisher second blake baggett first ever podium in emoto it's his rookie season as well this is great racing out here any one of these guys could win a second moto these young guys are hungry the the rookies the veterans weimar he's right in the middle okay this is it time to step up beginning of the summer series here well basically like you said at the top of the show three classes we have veterans we have rookies and we have the in-between group like barsha the sophomore who won the first moto today let's go racing they're banging bars but it's the 377 of porcell getting off to the early lead and we had the whole shot in motor one and threw it away this time he's got trey canard on the red right behind him on 38. and then the 108 of wilson is now he was fourth now he's second wow and i was watching for sell double the tunnel jump hopefully does that next time around we'll point it out but he's in the lead and what a job by wilson like you said jeff to move to second martine davalos on the 577 his third and trey kennard going to try to make a pass oh no he goes down i thought he was going to hold on to it and high point leading to canard's undoing again almost the same section fortunately he's up this time and the real question also along with that is where is his teammate justin bartia the winner of moto one and canard by the way was 14th in the first moto after he crashed in the first lap so he's had a long day today and look just at the top here on there it is just chaos back there i'm telling you look how it is just bar to bar action all the way through the pack and with these ruts like they are it's so difficult to ride in the in that big group like that yeah that's the difference between getting the good start and staying there like canard could have done or now having to work as well look at this riders down everywhere and you're just losing more and more time as you have to deal with that looks like davilos on the star racing yamaha has taken second back away from the 108 of wilson davalos out of ecuador has had an up and down season although no offense but more down than up this could be his chance to finally get up on the podium for the first time this season he's got wilson and there's no doubt the 108 is going to charge hard [Music] oh man more chaos there's jake weimer on the number 12 way back in the pack seely down there the 200 on the troy lee honda i'll tell you what though here we go back to second and third it's a drag race up to the finish line and it's wilson moving back into second place wow and he over jumped that tabletop that they purposely extended this year so you couldn't over jump it and he still did i'll tell you what he's gonna have to he's gonna have to get on the gas too because with porcell out front corcell's got something to prove that uh fourth place in the first moto he's not gonna be happy with that and more so he didn't look so good at the end of the motor purcell yes i'm saying nana moto he did not look strong he did not look confident so right now he's got a couple of two or three teammates back there looking for marsha there he is on the 17 he is ninth right now he won the first moto today so he's got some work to do 28 is rattray out of south africa going after davalos and davalos not letting the 108 of wilson get away man what a nice job by rattray that is one of the fastest sections in this entire series downhill and then back up and davalos holds it wide open and takes the spot back away from rattray wow what a battle here these guys are going for look at rattray trying to move to the inside he's high on the berm let's see if he follows him i know he cuts down the inside man right trey is just tough he can go in any line he wants and he'll figure out a way to keep the bike underneath him davilos is a fighter he's got the inside davalos went to block the inside line he wasn't going to let rattray come up the front or come up the inside on that left-hander yeah just stayed on the gas all the way around the outside made it look easy so the green bikes are one two three again just like they were last week in texas porcell leading wilson and rattray davalo's fourth blake wharton up the fifth he's got around nico izzy who's six there's tommy searle will han justin barcia our first motor winner is back in ninth christophe porcell continues to lead the way here at the rockstar energy drink national high point raceway mount morris pennsylvania porcell this year has been strong in the first motors and has had trouble in the second to date the opposite tough time fourth in moto one he's on the gas now though fastest lap here in moto g is pulling away as he's doubling over the tunnel jump uh aaron bates what do you got on the 108 dean wilson well guys when i spoke with dean wilson earlier this afternoon he said the toughest part about coming here to high point is learning the track remember oh sorry about that aaron he just went down yeah he just went down in a triple aaron couldn't see that as far away from the pit area wilson cased the jump and went down jeff well learning the track that's what she was just talking about is this is a section that has actually changed all throughout the day and he cross read it and made a a big mistake here and that's going to cost him in the overall well justin barstow won the first moto today here at high point we thought he could win the overall uh he is in a battle right now for 15th place with les smith of the number 87. hard to speculate if if something has happened to the bike but it just looks like he is not hitting his lines and just uh mentally not doing it making mistakes is another mistake yeah well he had it going on at least in the first mode blake wharton on the gas and we saw him this morning and i said man you gotta get a rabbit's foot a four-leaf clover anything that could have gone wrong for blake wart this year has pretty much gone wrong yeah finally showing the speed that he has hey look at the 38 trey canard are you kidding me we saw this guy down on the first lap and he is not giving up he's gotten around brock tickle who is usually rock solid late in the race and now he's going after wilson canard flying right now a 221 lap time by far the fastest of anyone that last time around and here's the guy who's going to try to win this moto and maybe the overall christophe porcell out of france on the 377 but behind him his teammate tyler actuary the south african if we do the math with two second place finishes today we believe will actually end up the overall winner go ahead jeff yeah look at these laps here porcell just poured it on 220.9 and rattray 222 flat so it's about a second that porcell just uh he's letting it rip now he's maybe conserved a little energy there road pretty easy during the middle of the race right road efficiently and look at the gap now that he has on his teammate but distill huh this still could give rat trey uh the overall here's wharton that's the jump that claimed canard last year wharton now uh who sets him third is at a 223 and a half there's martine davalos in fourth best ride of the young season so far for davalos star racing yamaha team they are the factory yamaha team in the 250 class and wow trey canard and he's gotten around wilson it's gonna be one of those deals you look at the results the end of the race and say ah top five that's pretty good that will not indicate how hard canard road today and christopher purcell leading by 3.6 seconds over tyler rattray once again monster energy pro circuit kawasaki putting another rider on the top of the podium yeah they just shake up the order week in and week out but the colors are the same christoph parcell is going to win the second moto out here at high point so congrats out to him they'll allow him to hold on to the serious points lead but the big story about a year later than we thought it would happen but tyler at trey has won his first ever ama overall congratulations to the veteran out of south africa i got the results here and canard from about last to fourth what a ride brock tickle takes fifth dean wilson recovers from his crash to take sixth tyler tray comes up with the overall victory edges his teammate christoph morseo by one point and blake wharton the overall podium welcome back and here's what he takes advantage of by winning the race he's moved up to second in series standings it's one two three for monster pro circuit kawasaki and as you can see all hailing from different nations this is gonna be good round three the excuses are over everybody's got their bikes dialed where they want most of the riders claim the injuries maybe from earlier in the season are behind them so this is it it is head to head now last week some guys were pacing themselves for the heat the opener at hang town guys were just getting used to getting in the flow of outdoor motocross not anymore here for round three the lucas oil ama promoto cross championship it's about to be on with the 40 best 450 cc motocross riders in the world coming up now and it's dungy on the number five it looks like he's gonna beat everyone to the line looks like josh grant was trying to slide by the inside and also matt gurken the 35 man it's side by side all four of them dungey grabs the lead jeff and grant like you call on the 33 into the number two spot wow just an incredible crowd here today at high point and look at that josh grant after that crash we showed you last year back out with a fantastic start and he is fast at this place look at the lines dungeon able to go inside in that corner grant able to go outside now they switch it up in this right hand do you love this just this double look at that oh and grant couldn't jump but look how much time he loses wow by not doing that double and now unless he on the number 800 comes into the screen in fourth challenging short then he got matt gurkey in fifth on the yamaha a lot of the favorites up front except chad reeve we don't see him with this early pack we got a long way to go no problem chad has been in this position before he's been able to work his way forward well and there's quite a bit of lines out here right he's off the track sorry to interrupt jeff he's got to come back on and not gain any time and wisely he allows grant to go by so no penalty there for dungey but what happened not sure that was off the screen but that leaves the lead to riverside california's josh grant wow well whatever lines they uh changed from practice to the actual photo here that obviously tripped up dungy he goes off the track josh grant was very fast at our opener a few weeks ago at hangton in northern california and then struggled a bit in texas see what happened here let's take a look at this replay and watch right here he gets into this and then he makes a little mistake oh wow goes from the inside all the way to the outside and because of those repeater banners there there was just no way no place to enter the track safely chad reed he's eating all the roost here as he's coming through the pack but remember just one week ago at freestone he had to ride through the pack so he's the confidence he knows that in this 30 minutes plus two laps that he's fit enough and he's fast enough to work his way at least into a top three oh oh michael australian and i think there's a left side handlebar possibly bent down there a little bit trying to figure out there's survey the damage and and this that bike is bent up and this is after michael byrne had a pretty hard crash in the second round of qualifying practice earlier today had a bruise on his neck bruised on his knuckles uh another rider down that looks like hackley wow so hackley is uh presumably out at least for this moto meanwhile up front you still got josh grant ryan dungey duking it out we have not seen grant versus dungey very often don't you new in the class this year and grant missed the entire supercross store oh matt moss he went to the inside on reed and went down and that's the patience we're talking about with reid josh grant still leading the way here at high point and although the results weren't where he wanted to be didn't get on the podium at our first two rounds there are some that theorize that this track would really lend itself to this kid yes he's originally from california but the joe gibbs team rides and trains in north carolina and from what i've heard their test track is a lot like this soil and also the elevation change that we have here at high point working out so well so far andrew short comes by in third of the 29 and then you've got this battle with uh alessi and han so han has now gotten around townley who you see coming through next so here it is the yellow machine that is han switching to the outside a little mistake by alessi ha not able to work that into a pass but he is right there behind alessi yeah did you see that when han came up the hill there he was gonna jump to the right and as he got on the throttle just the the brute horsepower on the bike started pulling him to the left but he wasn't going to let off the throttle at all he's got his leg out trying to just hold that bike in line you can see just how hard he's oh he always kind of said he is not gonna lift he was working for it he had him squared up entering the turn and when he hammered the throttle the back end slid out but he still didn't give up he still gave it one more chance and slid out a little bit one more time well i think the pressure's on for both these riders right now and this is the top level of the sport keep in mind these are the best riders in the world and they have gapped themselves from third place that's what's impressive i saw leslie up there early for example and he's usually a fast gun early in the race and they have left a lesson short han townley behind it is a private duel between these two and with the lessee and hans still going at it for fourth and fifth han gonna triple around the outside and we also see the one-on-one of ben towney three riders in the same section and hog finally makes that corner work wow did you see how much different that was than earlier in the motorcycle we saw him do that he executed that tally executes as well and he gets by leslie so unless he drops two spots sorry to interrupt jeff but uh yeah han changed his lineup completely made it work now watch talon here he's gonna get the power to the ground now look how wide he's going here still might work i didn't think there'd be enough room and there is townley is going to take the spot away he'll blow berms out on the outside if he has to he carried a lot of speed into that turn and that was neat that's not even the preferred line right there but like i said he just found a way to just plant the bike in the turn find a straight line and when he hammered the throttle he went flying down the hill and just out accelerated on josh grant maintaining the number one spot here at this rock star energy drink national high point earlier in the race grant was going to the far left all the way through there now he's exiting that turn on the right oh god loses the back end and then loses the front end and loses the lead luckily able to keep the bike running but ryan dungey rides by into the number one spot so a heartbreaker there for grant doing all the right things until that moment there is 29 on the red bike of short that's a third place rider grant went down if he doesn't find the pace that he is running before that crash short might get him here still got time in this moto 6 minutes before the two-minute board comes out we are waiting for chad reed he has fallen off the radar and uh now we hear a report that they've heard some backfiring out of the engine there's the number one easy to pick up at the red plate because he's leading the points but he might not be for long with a moto like this look how wide he is here as you try to make that left-handed off-camera he was actually looking over his shoulder because he knew that he had just blown that turn and look how muddy it is reed in 13th place right now and watch this replay here chad trying to pull the tear off gets a little squirrely right there goes wide in this turn and just just really couldn't get turned around and look at the effort there of sipes and chisholm wow everyone's just battling it out and look chad way out on the grass right there oh tommy hahn is down on the number 10 and he was inside the top five so that might shake things up got the goggles off as well that might be a byproduct of all this rain see the 32 of cunningham now the 800 of alessi oh it's gonna be tough now jason for him i'll tell you what the one rider not having any problems at all is dungey and rockstar makita suzuki team able to rely on their experience remember reed was the one riding this bike to a championship last year and then before reed of course the great ricky carmichael was a member of that team so they were able to dig back into the notebook now there's a tangle up a little bit further back check this out alessi battling with cunningham again jeff and watch as they come into the screen here together together is that as cunningham tried to come up the inside of a lessee there and you see that huge burn that they got into and by the position of cunning tam's bike it looks like he got in there and laid the thing over to the left and it just kept going down on him and unless he got you know stuck right in there but what can you say about dungey once again on his way to winning one more moto yeah that that's right three in a row and uh two in the hot dry weather in texas and one here in some rain and cool temperatures cooler at least here in pennsylvania and he is headed for the checkered flag 10 second gap for dungey he's got this thing on cruise control ryan dungey wins moto one here at high point here's the results from your first 450 class moto dungy grant short on the podium nice ride by ben townley and how about matt beef gurkey putting it up in the number five spot didn't see much of him midway through that moto but while everyone else was going down he was moving up it's a beautiful day now the rain is gone the sun is out the fans are on their feet this is the big one and don't forget our defending series champ and points leader chad reed struggled big time in that first race outside of the top ten he'll be on the number one bike the green kawasaki trying to bounce back here we're just moments away from the second and championship deciding moto here today at high point [Music] bumping and banging it's the 46 of ryan sipes out of kentucky grabbing the whole shot and andrew short who he talked about of the 29 the red bike takes over the lead this could be the day for short go ahead jeff alessia in third michael see oh and he gets passed that's uh that's awesome the suzuki slicing pass to lefty to get in the third i'm telling you that start was crazy dungy was in the middle he got banged all around looks like he's setting in about fifth right now so our first moto winner dungey back to fifth the man who was third in the first range andrew short in the lead and there's that huge double jump you were talking about jeff wow unless he chose to go to the inside and not jump at mosswood to the outside but here it is 29 andrew short had a strong ride that first moto is this the moto where he can put it together and finally take it over tried to triple foot come off the pegs that's going to allow the australian matt moss on the yellow machine to take over second and now unless he he'll work his way past sipes as well so unless he had a ktm 350 taking on the bigger 450 motor machines up to third here comes grant around the outside of sipes he's got fourth josh grant second in the first moto like you said jeff up to bosses down boss is down in the 712 and now sipes coming back on grant all kinds of action here in the opening lap almost impossible to keep up with it and despite all this traffic we don't see chad read at all well well remember in moto one we had the rain come down the track was incredibly slippery and tough now there's actually some traction out there in spots so could that be is it deceiving for a rider like moss that came into one of the classic off cameras here at high point grab too much front brake and lay the bike over and talk about the off cambers jeff that's what makes this track tricky what is an off-camera turn well where the outside of the turn falls away from you the inside is high the outside is low but i'll tell you josh grant oh look at him granted the blueprint around the inside just that section is so hard packed there and he did a great job of keeping that yamaha on two wheels because when he got on the throttle that thing just went sideways on him amazing that he was able to keep the bike on two wheels and there's definitely a grudge match here between alexey on the orange and grant on the blue both out of southern california they've grown up racing together there's bad blood and here we go granted the inside and that was a surprisingly clean pass considering the history between these two and chad reads 16th early here comes dungey on the five another attack on the 46 of sipes and the 24 bed cap right behind them oh he almost goes down oh dungey missed the line i can't believe he kept it on two wheels how strong is ryan dungy to hold that bike out that was it physically had to plant his foot and use all of his strength in his body to keep that bike from laying over to the right he's going for it though and he has to because shorts up front grants in third those are the riders at the moment that he is challenging for the overall here he goes again around the outside now they're gonna triple now they're gonna both choose the double double and dungey is able to finally make the move on ryan sipes and then you got the 24 metcalf oh it looks like seif's trying to get him back tremendous action here in pennsylvania andrew short leading the way here doing what he has to do jeffy got that start and look how clean he is right now not taking on any roost wow he's riding the perfect race at this point this rider works as hard as anybody out there he's physically fit he's got all the tools in place look at the capability look at this and i'm telling you alessi is on the gas too he's had some bad motives in a row but he's pressing josh grant has gone backwards he was second he's now back to fourth so that's a big change up in your overall battle jeff and here snipes to the inside he doubles past grant and that looks like oh it snipes cases to double that allows metcalfe unbelievable is it one little mistake out there and you lose ground that's what happened to the 33 of grant and the 46 of sipes jeff amig josh grant is going backwards on the number 33 he's struggling he is struggling big time and he slowed up for some reason he seems to be all over the place the back of the bike is moving around quite a bit it doesn't look like that he has a flat rear tire or anything but for some reason he cannot keep the bike straight he was in second and now he's lost a whole bunch of ground in fact he's being passed by the 712 of moss that'll push him back to 11. here's a battle dungey is going after alessi and this could make a huge difference if dungeon can go first and second today in the two motors he could edge short for the overall but he's got to take second from alessi to get it oh no he triples unless he's going to be stubborn around the outside whose line's going to work as they go back uphill the 350 against the 450 dungeon foot off and holds on jeff wow he landed in those ruts just pulled his right foot off the pigs that could be disastrous if it kicks you off too far but what a pass for dungy he just kept working on unless he didn't give him any breathing room and finally takes over second oh oh chad radar defending series champ is in the pits you see his mechanic dana wiggins he's got the cutters there cutting the front brake line off of the bike that's so that it doesn't go into the front wheel area and look it's up top it looks good it's there's something down where the front brake caliper bounced to the lower fourth leg 33 of josh grant's a lap down yeah i mean technically uh he's a left rider right there you see him getting the blue flag with the yellow cross through it grants running 30th now we hear it was a front tire problem for grant goes ahead and lets metcalf by right now medcap putting in such a great ride here this moto setting in third right now about 16 seconds behind i'm sorry 13 seconds by the leader but only four seconds off of dungey so metcalf we know he's a hard charger he's got the pressure of tommy han right here who sets a fourth that is going to keep the pressure on him if these guys can get it together dungy makes any mistake at all and if they get by dungy that could change the points all up could possibly give andrew short the overall so this race is far from over let's go back to our later andrew short out front today here in pennsylvania i'll tell you for sure this is going to be frustrating right now because dungey's just reeled him in and the problem is if you're that leader that's just gotten caught is the fans are totally behind the guy that's in second right they're wanting to see him close this race up and that's ryan dungey [Music] here's dungey on the inside jumping uphill and a nice job of boxing out short to the outside now short cuts back dungey looks over puts the wheels in front ryan dungey out of minnesota the 20 year old into the number one spot what a ride let's go back to brett metcalf the australian in third this is his first season on the big bike he was racing the 250 division for a long long time and he has really found a fit here in the premier class in 2010. metcalf's been in the u.s about 10 years now but still looking for his first win if he keeps up front like this it could happen tommy home won his first race last year he actually ended the 2009 season by winning the last round that was awesome yeah you remember how happy he loved seeing that just and so on that day he had the bragging rights over wilbur no doubt about it and being the last race it lasted almost a full year hey we said it just a few weeks ago he had still had the win streak going he win the last round he had a win streak going for months so here's tommy in fourth of the number 10. and mike alessi i don't think alessi came out here to get fifth he wants to contend for this championship and a pretty good start a bunch of riders got by him and that's not where michael essie needs to be if he wants to win this title we'll get him here in the shot here he is on the orange number 800. white flag is out ryan dungey dominant form now looking to go 1-1 on the day that's exactly what he did a week ago in texas but here's the difference texas 100 degree heat it was a sand track today we've got clay and dirt it was muddy it was about as opposite as the condition could get and dungy same result so dungey's only a few corners away from taming high point raceway now he was your champion last year in the 250 class and that's a pretty tough thing to do to go out and win the 450 title in your first year it's a totally different bike and totally different competition actually lives down on ricky carmichael's farm in florida that's where he does is riding in training and it pays off at moments like this ryan dungey wins the rock star energy national at high point andrew short he ends up second overall and the australian veteran brett mccaff ends up in third and out of the top 10 chad reed nowhere in sight so major championship points made up today by ryan dungey this series is all sorts of mixed up [Applause] the 30-second board is now up now you know the hole shot's mostly going to come from the inside but which of those 20 guys on the inside well they're lined up uh the points leaders not quite on the inside here it hasn't played hasn't been the best spot in that 450 moto but uh here he is christophe purcell he's won at least one moto at each round and he has been the most consistent and consistently fast moto one of the 250s from buds creek and it looks like it's a honda and it's going to be tomac and followed by porcell nice start for eli tomac had this bad moto bad couple modes last week there you see purcell coming to the inside max anstey from england is third as they come across the start finish line it's porcell tomac and steve barsha wilhan rounding out the top five tyler rattray is six jake weimer seventh martine davalos dean wilson nico izzy trey canard 17. ktm fans tommy searle comes across the stripe 13th on the first lap whoa i'm not sure what just happened there with max anstey but he took a deep inside line and uh looked like he got pushed off there you see he is now third i have a feeling the officials will take a look at that afterwards your leader is purcell you see antsy coming around the outside he also had a bad day at mount morris trying to improve it right now there you see barsha scrubbing speed on the outside and how about the contrast here you've got the veteran former world motocross champion christophe purcell out front and all these rookies and young riders here like marsha anstey tomac right in there let's take a look at this replay davey watch on the right of your screen harry as he comes up over the old start finish line area watch for the blue bike it's going to come way far to the inside oh that's a shortcut ah that's a shortcut certainly going to cost him and look at he he picked up two positions correct in that so now you see barsha starting to apply a little bit of pressure now he won the first motor last week as you were saying at the top of the show on the first lap of the second moto he had a problem someone hit him pushed his pipe in earlier he sputtered and he tried but he did his best but man on a 252 stroke or rather 254 stroke the last thing he wants a bog on the face of a jump and he fought it the whole way balantly and in the end he just missed out on the points yeah that uh actually the um header pipe on the bike got smashed in he was riding around there and it looked like he was just a little off the pace but uh he he was frustrated but right now once again oh eli misses his line anstey to the inside he's got second union max moving forward he's moved into second they come to henry hill holds it on just a little longer nice ride so far for max they see tomak trying an outside line but how about it for this yamaha team anstey up to second tickles had a second davolos had fantastic ride last week all the riders getting it done here maybe he realized we didn't talk about him and all the international talent at the beginning of the show so now we have an englishman chasing a frenchman followed by two american teenagers tomak and varsha and i know barsha was the guy you said the beginning of the race jeff yeah but well and it oh this is a tight race here between the teammates marsha around the outside just smoked it there by his teammate eli tomac well taking a look back uh rattray is in fifth and then davalos is sixth weimer seventh here as we go through the field and that's will han 49 on the honda he's just behind weimer wilson and durham rounding out your top ten but back up to the front of the pack barsha starting to close up on anstey i'm telling a fantastic ride for both riders it's only two and a half seconds up to porcell anstey also had that uh fast line shall we say on lap one but certainly a fantastic ride here and if uh the ama rules on that uh unfavorably for anstey that's going to be uh it's going to be frustrating for him because you know the ride here so far with the 18 minutes left to go in this moto this benfit is one of his best rides ever we should put a gopro helmet cam on the guy who has to go tell mervin anstey that's right that's right his father a pretty predominant figure there in his uh racing career so uh davey you can do that after this moto's over but look at the battle here justin varsha just relentless and steve being stingy with it not giving up oh goes down he made a mistake in the corner it looked like he got just a little too aggressive now he's got that drop off he's got to get over oh you see that barsha at mistake cost him a shot at the lead or rather second place and he's really going to have to work hard here if he's going to get himself back up up into that position so let's reset the leaderboard porcell is your leader max anstey second eli tomac is third then we have tyler rattray justin varsha jake weimer and wilbur hahn oh another rider's down that was uh that might well it wasn't rattray it looked like one of the pro circuit riders was down that might have been dean wilson that was weimer he dropped dropping like a rock here jake weimer down you just saw a glimpse of it as we move forward to eli tomac tomac still your third place rider then rattray and barsha and there you see the battle for third ratre starting to move up and there you see weimer and he is finally getting going jeff and i have a feeling he is going to be a lap down here very shortly and he's just it's going to put him about 31st or so across the start finish line sorry 30 oh oh it's there mixing it up ratre and tomac and rattray gets by tomac had a problem in the corner looks like he tried to go in too hot rattray used that outside fast line and i think he forced tomac into what it can only be called a rookie mistake right there and now rattray has moved into third with his sights set on max anstey for cells dropped down to a 206 rat trades at 206. barsha is the only rider that's still down around a 204 at the moment and uh he's actually moved up past tomat barsha had to regroup and re-gather after that spill i think he would have been up here and listen to it that signature overrev move you can he is up there there it is that's justin barsher for you he is twisting the grip off of the geico powersports honda oh anstey's down max anstey dropped his bike in the same quote and then wilson hits him that is the exact same corner that barsha fell down and he goes from second to fifth in a hurry and actually that puts it back at six so now reset the field porcell rattray barsha dean wilson and max anstey now we go back up to our leader christoph porcell another fine effort barsha though is only about two seconds behind rat race so both of those riders the pressure is on porcell is looking pretty solid for the win but i'm telling you barsha has not given up at all on this moto [Music] he's going to come past the mechanics area there this is going to be uh going to get the words of encouragement here from his mechanic whole shot uh great moto did they change the board from the start cell comes around the last corner you see tyler rattray so here it is moto one of the mototees.com butts creek national goes to christoph porcell followed by his teammate tyler rattray they see christoph purcell of course your leader tyler rattray second one and two for the international riders justin barsha third dean wilson yes that is the flag of scotland canadian fans will han was fifth and we've got brock tickle max anstey trey canard martine dabalos and a struggling at the end eli tomac the card is sideways and the second moto up and running here from buds creek and it is wilburhon look at that and he holds it to the line will han troy lee honda grabs the hole shot here in moto 2 wilbur hahn then you see it looks like blake warden and justin barsha and then you got one of those pro circuit kawasaki's in the middle so han does exactly what he needed to do and exactly what aaron said down on the start and across the start finish line it's han wilson warden barsha weimer with a great start and your moto one winner porcell in sixth ratre eighth coming up over the big hill wilbur hahn out front fifth in that first moto don't see the hay bales yeah nobody kept that the hay bales out there where and steve weimer and freeze got docked in that first moto but right now you have han out front then you got dean wilson who's been one of the biggest surprises i think this year and then wharton and barship the geico power sports hana team running third and fourth and then porcell look out he is in fifth oh that was close there between the teammates wharton got a little sideways see just muscling his teammate out of the way he can't see this in his helmet he has the keys to the race there i think he i think he's using those and that puts him up in the third so barsha getting aggressive twice the second time making contact with blake wharton there you see dean wilson starting to get close now dean wilson is a guy looking for redemption we've seen what happened in texas a couple times mistook what the checkered flag was at the end who was behind who was a lapper was it 5.6 seconds or 56 seconds he gave a win away you know now that he's back up there there's no way he's going to stop charging until this thing's over look at that inside i told you if he got close to the lead he would be going for it but dean wilson was kind of a dark horse pick for mitch payton and he paid off with some fantastic super cross rides and then he almost won that national in texas and now he's leading the way here at buds creek in the second 250 moto let's take a look at this replay this is blake wharton who was setting in fourth see that loose soil jeff we've been seeing it a problem all day we saw both anstey go down uh as well as justin barsha and that time it caught up to blake wharton in costume i'm telling you the 377 he was unstoppable earlier today and he wrote that first moto with ease i talk a lot about being efficient with your energy and with your riding style right now you see him getting a little bit looser because now a sense of urgency he's setting in dean wilson your leader right now on the number 108 kawasaki and there's justin barsha and it's getting close yeah look at that interval there less than half a second as you can see marsha was over a second faster that last time around han says third porcell fourth rattray rounding out the top five but man what a ride here barsha is charging look at this tyler rattray is just past his old gp competitor christophe porcell and that's big jeff purcell won our first moto rattray was second and now that's a big shake up and it looks like porcell is starting to slip back a little bit now look at the battle for third wilbur hahn our early leader on the troiley designs honda is starting to get pressure from none other than tyler rattray who going back the last four motors of the series he's been first second second and second got him an overall win the first of his ama career here last week at the high point national in pennsylvania and now he's starting to apply the same speed to this buds creek track second in the first moto he is now closing in on han for third oh rattray gets by on the outside no han stays in it he does he held the line there rattray got out of the good line on the inside he got in that loose loose the the rocks and the gravel you were talking about earlier and now here comes rapture he tries an outside line very aggressive move can he hold the line he does tyler moving up into third dean wilson out front got the shirt untucked it's a hot day here let's see what kind of lead he's got over justin barsha there's barsha the second place rider barsha seemed like he was going to be aggressive and trying to fight over the lead but right now i don't know i'm still mystified at why porcell is not riding faster you know we've we've seen him put down some amazing laps you know i i guess that's that's why he's you know we call him the enigma you know you just you just don't know sometimes with what's going on with him because he rides smooth he rides fluid he he holds his cards very close to the vest he is in fifth he is your points there that's why he's got the red plate but right now he's not riding like the same guy who dominated that first moto and uh i don't know maybe it's the heat [Music] and dean wilson still leading marsha and look at the top of your screen countdown clock is on so they've got this lap plus two more to go wilson out front just so fluid making no mistakes at this point this has been his motto all the way i'll tell you what right now dean wilson his fate is in the hands of his teammate number 28 tyler rattray this is the battle for second but it's effectively the battle for the overall win justin barsha 17 on the outside if ratrik oh he goes off into the banners ratre trying to make a pass for second that would have been the overall but as it stands dean wilson's the leader justin barcia is second and rattray in third and jeff that mistake may have cost him the national he was so close he was starting to put the pressure on barsha went for it went off the side of the track there and as you can see top of your screen dean wilson's already hit the white flag bars by one more lap for tyler rattray rattray trying to make a pass there it would have given him the points for the overall instead he gets out into the banners and now he's just trying to salvage third and as it stands take a look at what happened to rattray he goes to the inside jeff yeah running out of real estate well he got his weight to the right side and it's actually the hills going away and watch he gets into those the cherokee's repeater banners and just i mean he almost didn't get back onto the track there because that berm just falls off so wilson now the recipient of one at the end of the race we saw him give away a moto win to tyler rattray and now he's half a lap away he is not going to make that mistake again he's he looked behind him but i guarantee he's not going to slow down this time what redemption it would be here just a couple of couple of rakes after you see him coming out of that corner hitting that chop half a lap to go dean wilson let's go to the geico replay check this out this was early in the motor going past wilbur hahn they whip it out different directions he holds it on longer times like that it's just all courage and throttle jeff uh he definitely scrubbed that finish line jump but he set it up and those rollers just before that but that was your geico powersports uh pass of the race and so off henry hill yeah henry hill one half lap to go for dean wilson you know there are people in canada that are going to want to give him the first canadian national win so be it there are people in scotland who definitely are going to give him the first win for scottish rider dean wilson two weeks after giving away a national twice is now going to win the second moto here at buds creek barsha will be second rat race third now he slows down there it is dean wilson got the hand in the air he can see the checkered flag this time and he's not giving it up for no one your winner of moto 2 and overall at butts creek is dean wilson [Music] justin barcia comes around a close second followed by rattray and let's take a look here at the overall you see dean wilson that 4-1 gives him 43 points and he is on top justin barcia second tyler rattray round out to top three christoph purcell still at the top got a full moto lead over tyler rattray but you see dean wilson in there pro circuit kawasaki one two three here we go moto one from butts creek stephen clark on the far outside there the whole shot comes from the middle it's andrew short red bull racing honda you see metcalf right behind him michael leslie's in fourth and it looks like chad reid got himself a good start nick way is fifth and there's dungey in six josh grant back there just behind them you see tommy hahn is buried mid-pack as they come across the uh start finish line the first time it's metcalf actually taking the lead short read alessi and dungey in your top five looks like all the players are up front right there leslie gets to the inside reeve moves into third and that was a real aggressive lead here you can see both the honda riders two different teams they're going at it reed trying to get back around to lessee unless he always made a huge mistake he looks like he saved it there look at alessi getting aggressive really early trying to move up now andrew short is back in the lead look at leslie on the low line on the ktm 350. he's going to move into second alessi bye into second place so last week he really had a disastrous race he said he was rested coming into this week says he didn't even ride the motorcycle it was just all about replenishing his energy reserves and being ready for motor one here and he's showing that they see him coming up around the top of the track ryan dungey has moved into fourth there's that drop off dungey of course on a four moto winning streak it's not gonna let these guys get away from him very quickly here comes dungey on the inside wow he did he didn't really have the spot as you see that medcap just but when they landed off that tabletop dungey just hammered the throttle forced his weight to the inside of medcap let's see if medcap can find some more lines because remember at this point last lap on the on the first lap just one lap ago he was leading he's already dropped three spots here comes townley and reed boy you know things have to be happening really quick for chad reed take a little look down at his bike there hopefully there's no issues with the bike but um seems like he's been dropping some spots and it looks like cowley massages his way past reed there's that thing you were talking about jeff seems like reed's just a little more tentative than we're used to seeing early in the motors yeah and and for the rider mentally things could start happening really fast and then your head uh-oh they're top of the hill let's see if talley let's see him try and square up brett metcalf townley trying to get to the front in a hurry they know they can't afford to let dungey get away let alone mike alessi and andrew short wow townley makes the pass great lap there for ben townley uh-oh we were missing the number five here he comes he's dropped some spots dungey went down or had a problem that's gonna allow townley up to third and look at all the heat on the back of the rock star makita suzuki points leader ryan dungey and you see josh grant getting into the picture we kind of a glimpse of him earlier of course coach joe gibbs is here the owner along with the sun coyote though sorry davey dungy just stripped his goggles off over that tabletop that could be a problem especially in the 450 class oh now he missed it yeah something went on there when he went down could be that possibly when he went down either some mud got in there some sweat got in inside of the lens something there's all kinds of things that can happen he is kicking at something i you saw that it was either his kickstarter with his right leg or maybe a brake pedal it looks like he's got his break but yeah suddenly that'll throw a wrench in the works yeah and going up to our leader here short is a little over five seconds ahead of alessi who sets in second if dungey gets up behind alessi he's gonna have some vision issues is there a possibility that he might just check into the pits for a quick second and grab a pair of goggles or is he gonna run it out like this what would you do yeah well if it was me uh and i was in dungey's position here uh i would not pull in you're gonna just lose way too much time and at the moment he's hanging right in there into third and if you have a bad motor or you have an issue and you end up third that's not that bad this is our leader andrew short red bull racing honda and he is he is on the gas and let's see michael leslie should be coming by there he is oh and here comes dungey right behind him and now we're back to that thing i was talking about dungey's not wearing goggles and and will that inspire him to get by quicker well what it's going to force him to do see how he's taking alternate lines inside outside no way does he want to get oh look at that he's looking to his left trying to duck his head in his visor because he's just getting pounded and all these little white spots here that you can see in this maryland soil those are all little rocks okay i've i've taken roost here many times all those little white speckles there and it's those rocks are what's really going to hurt uh oh hold on that looks like a honda rider looks like davey millsaps honda red bull racing millsaps down you see the asterisk mobile medics right there on the spot along with some local paramedics hopefully he's just got the wind knocked down but millsaps down on the track he was riding in the eighth position great ride though for michael leslie what a good rebound after just a horrible race one week ago in high point and i tell you look at the last lap time there is about a second or so faster than your leader last time around uh the start finish line unless he was three seconds behind short so the race for the lead is tightening up dungey's tightening up to alessi and townley is not dropping off the pace at all coming through the rollers see dundee trying to stay to the inside see him get on the gas now unless he's starting to look back a little bit now here's that line that dungey uses he's going to go the fast route and nice defense by michael lessie there now this goes back to about alessi his father taught him the craft of racing you can give tony all the knocks you want about not being a past champion not being a pro rider himself but yet being omnipresent in mike's career but that's what gets mike there that's what they believe and you see dungey trying the low route now again he's used this line before he's going to swing it after this they're going to try and horsepower up the hill see him trying to stay out of the roost mixing the lines up but that's causing dungey to take the long way around the track oh davey i'm just watching dungey just getting a face full of roost by that ktm 350. oh look right through there just duck in his head but he's not giving up what a brave ride here by the current points leader ryan dungy he's he he's going after it chad reed the defending series champion but right now he's playing from behind he's in fourth place by andrew short mike alessi and ryan dungey as we watch the battle for second continue it's andrew short is possibly going to win his first moto of the year there he is the 29 well he definitely needs this definitely needs this you know andrew shorts won an overall before in the lights class the two video classes i think he went like 3-2 at southwick one year to get himself a an overall trophy but on a 450 this would be the maiden win i believe for andrew short wow and you know what can happen with the race like this at this time of year summertime once he gets this taste of victory figures it out he says oh that's all i had to do now i know the road map to the promised land okay this is he's on his way barring any mistakes here in this last half a lap he's gonna nail down the first his first photo victory and this would be a huge victory for confidence and the mental side of things because like you said he's a nice guy and there's nobody out there that is you know deserving of a moto win right now than uh andrew short and he's done it with ease here he's stayed clean you know mistake free he's doing everything right on the motorcycle you know technique all that four second lead see jason giving him the board around this corner will be the finish line andrew short not the guy to peg to get the win here in the first moto here we go the checkered flag your moto 1 victory goes to andrew short and honda red bull racing let's take a look at the results here for moto 2 and it was it was gnarly out there davey it was battle all the way dungy with the lead reed townley up inside the top three grant short rounding out the top five medcap all the way down to brayton that's your top 10. i'm telling you davey andrew short was on at the first moto alessi had a good ride dungey riding without goggles that's your top three the whole here we go moto 2 oh shot's going to be important keep it on the inside of the gate it's going to be andrew short again andrew short two hole shots followed by ryan dungey it's like chad reed's got a great start metcalf with another top five cowley's in there and look at alessi to the inside of chad reed two great starts for andrew short he won the first moto but in the first moto he did not have ryan dungy that close at the beginning good start for all of our series contenders all of the main players from moto one are right up there now tally's up in there but for but for andrew short this is exactly what he needed to do he needs to ride today on his terms that's what you do when you get the whole shot you dictate the whole race i got a feeling the number five there of ryan dungey's gonna have a little something to say about it before this is over but what a way to start moto 2 well it's like the keys of the race get a good start look forward and keep going and andrew short picking up where he left off in the first moto but again dungey with a better start mike alessi you know he's going to be up there 350 450 tooth it doesn't matter he's gonna get a good start but right now it looks like he's got geico power sports brett metcalf and chad reed coming up on him and reed tries an outside line here we go reed's gonna slip by also see metcalf to the oh and they muscle they both muscle alessi out of the way reed means business here in moto 2 he knows what winning championships is all about and here at butts creek it's time to get tough and you see metcalf coming up on the inside and he's also going to push him out of the way so in short order two australian riders go by the 350 ktm of mike alessi and for for chad reed this is not what we saw in the first mode check it out that's ben townley number 101 on the lucas oil troy lee designs honda he also had a good moto until the very end and then he dropped out of the top 10. you see him now working on alessi uncharacteristic jeff of mike alessi to lose so many spots early in the race reed he had a a good first moto he slipped back a little bit at the start lost some positions stayed into it got into a groove and then by the end of the moto he was riding back forward finished fourth in the first motor right now he's got to dig deep and do something really special see his mechanic there dana wiggins push andrew shorts still leading the way davey and it looks right now like dungey is starting to put a little pressure on him at the same time pull away from the defending series champion chad reid short does not need to finish in front of dungey but oh he just got the gave up the position now he has to stay where he's at looked like his momentum carried him a little bit to the outside and our points leader ryan dungey shoots through on his star suzuki and he's back out front dungey getting it done once again for roger decoster and his mechanic mike gossler wow look at how he's rocketing away and he did it that last lap by turning a 201 to andrew shorts 203 reed still solid at a 202 right in the middle this thing's gonna get interesting still for andrew short well like you said short can hold on to second and that's the overall but you know that reed wants to go with him and like he said brent metcalf still hanging around on the geico power sports honda back and forth that's reed closing in now for the second time it short goes outside and it cost him once again he pushed it outside when he was passed by dungey and it happens again and now reed goes by it's a disastrous lap so far for andrew short yeah davey that is the overall if they finished in these positions ryan dungey would win with the 3-1 our early leader of course was andrew short he won the first moto he had the whole shot in this moto but it seems like he is having some trouble because there is your new third place rider brett metcalf and they're shorty and he's got company that's ben townley up to fifth on the lucas oil troy lead designs honda shorty started out so well in both motors he held it the first time but now jeff he's going the wrong direction as they come off henry lee michael lesi who at the moment sets eighth place he has dropped from inside the top three where he started he's got riordan coming up on him now hard mike alessi a great first moto bit like andrew short he is going the wrong direction this time you see the moto concepts yamaha and there goes riordan yet another one of the australian riders out here riding alessi trying to hold him off and look at that the high line on the 450 he's got him back and forth gonna drop in reardon nice inside out move right there brett metcalf has got some serious pressure from townley short and j.g.r yamaha of josh grant has now uh he's uh right on the rear wheel of short so four riders here right in a row but let's look at the keys to the race get a good start and didn't really get that be fast and fluid he certainly is doing that now is he aggressive most definitely is aggressive see him pulling a tear off and when you start to catch these riders like he sees oh there are tallies got past metcalf but you see that you just feed off of that and what i like to do in these sort of situations is when you would hit those jumps really try to take oh he's got to the inside he's got to move uh no metcalf cut him on him but yeah you've got to carry that through yeah and over these jumps here this is a great time to really take a deep breath loosen up your chest kind of roll your shoulders loosen up your arms because you know you're going to have to battle but he just paddled through the muscle milk joe gibbs racing yamaha of josh grant has now moved into fifth he is rather i'm sorry but the fourth metcalf lost two spots on that lap so townley is now your third place rider josh grant is fourth brett metcalf is fifth number five ryan dungey rock star makita suzuki is leading moto 2. he goes over henry hill he is out front and if he holds on jeff this will be his third overall win in a row here's your uh reigning champion black number with a white plate for the first time this year because he is not your points leader well he's also 15.4 seconds down so ryan dungey putting some fast laps down and again goes back to that thing if if buds creek is going to give chad reed a second in this moto it looks like he's going to take it and lord knows that's a lot better than he did at a high point last week right now josh grant's uh starting to eat up the time that he was behind ben townley he is on the gas and let's just see this battle is really starting to heat up here with three little less than three laps to go oh almost a superman there for grant he came down real aggressively in that hill went into the off camera you saw him go on the back that drops him back probably a good five six bike lengths ryan dungey is just on the gas here about 20 seconds in front of chad reed who's in second unbelievable ride here you see well plus 21 so says goose you see how far back we have to go to get to the next rider number one chad reed wow and he was hanging tough there for a long time but right now the lap times have gone up to two or nine dungey's at a 207. reed's got some company though i know it's the last lap josh grant is only about six seconds behind and he's about three seconds to lap faster so if chad reed makes any sort of mistake he's gonna have josh grant really breathing down his neck and a third for grant that is a it's a solid day this is just what he needed to do after being fifth in the first moto here he comes actually countley has gotten past back past josh grant yeah problem there for josh grant and look townley now up to third so ryan dungey on the rock star makita suzuki coming around the final rollers here on his way to the checkered flag buds creek national goes to ryan dungey dungey with the lead reed townley uh up inside the top three grant short rounding out the top five medcap all the way down to brayton that's your top 10. well let's take a look at your overall results here you see dungey with that third to first moto first in the second motor gives him the 45 that's going to be the tops on the day see medcap there sixth sixth for sixth right in the middle and justin brayton rounding out the top ten with the 10-10 ryan dungey extends his points lead to see over chad reed who's now 36 down metcalf stays right inside the top three josh grant makes some ground kyle regal just barely hanging inside the top tin there it's time to go racing in the 250 class mode number one christopher sells your points leader so the chase for the 377 continues he has a 25 point lead over his teammate tyler rattray and the rest of this 250 field but he's only won one overall this year so the window is still open for someone else to grab some momentum and try to close back in on the crafty frenchman points let's see if it happens this afternoon here in colorado [Music] [Music] well so far not going to have it off the start purcell controls it around turn number one and he's got martine davalos right behind him and doubtless remember in our feature a few minutes ago said motocross the daytime thing he's glad to be back in the daylight here in colorado paying off and then we got a battle blake wart in third dean wilson in fourth a bunch of guys got collected in that second corner i wasn't sure if any top names in there but uh wouldn't be surprised it was it happened pretty far up in the pack but purcell mistake by uh sorry to interrupt that's gonna allow his teammate canard to get next to him canard barely able to clear that double all the way by the wall that was beautiful did it pay off though yes it did makes the pass nice and he slung shot out of there as well so see if any big names are back here well catch up with that a little later but this downhill into that right starting to really get choppy and rutted as you can see so hard to keep your balance through there davilos dabbing both feet loses a spot to wilson so wilson is up to second davalo's third and the 38th is uh canard and as david mentioned we did have a big crash right off the start in this one heading into turn number two and we'll try to figure out that claim to any of our contenders here's what happened yeah watch uh just there you go one of the rider in the red i couldn't pick out a name look like he took out a pro circuit guy i think that might be weimer because i've seen rattray purcell and yeah that's weimer and reigns and pours and barsha also on the right side of the number 17. wilson going after porcell here we go two riders go over the same line purcell gets there first wilson unbelievable how quickly he caught right up to porcelain now looks like he's being held up by the series points leader i'm trying to think back i don't remember purcell getting that many hole shots so maybe he's just going well i finally got one but i'm not ready to go fast yet and wilson obviously is you're not kidding in fact it looks like any line wilson takes he still ends up going faster than possilly just hasn't found the daylight to get around him and you normally think that a whole shot for purcell it's lights out for the competition but no way dean wilson carrying some confidence from that win last week taking it to him down for the second time he was down in the second turn and now down again oh barsha it looked like he might have clipped the bale going into that corner they might have laid it in just a little bit too soon davilos just turned the fastest lap of the race first rider into the 213s and he's back and forth but not that far back and forth he's right there hanging with this lead group that's a huge confidence boost so wilson putting some pressure on porcell looks like he's posting on the inside there now wilson finally able to drop alongside purcell just riding slow enough to stay next to him because he knows he'll be on the inside of the next corner that's why we call him the crafty frenchman folks he let wilson get side by side knowing mom on the inside kid here goes wilson again around the outside and of course purcell's line meets them on the outside for the second time oh purcell likes the action yeah he's probably having fun going okay cool way to go needed that wake-up call i mean look at the gap they've opened up on canard now is he playing with the teammate right now that's about the third time i've seen purcell back it down a little bit and keep wilson next to him but still hold on to the lead great action here between the teammates i think it's fair to say that purcell knows exactly what he's doing i don't want to sit here and speculate but he doesn't look like a guy to me based on his history that's out there winging it he's pretty deliberate with what he does well this similar situation happened in texas with eli tomac and uh was getting the look back oh that was a great line there look at the gap he opened up in one corner and over jumped that jump because what is he going five miles an hour faster because of that one perfect firm shot huge kicks up on stuff like that really quick and right when he went to that berm made it look easy saw wilson jump into the main berm and just blow it here's canard to the number three spot you have some very creative lines out there but uh actually this last half a lap wilson pulls back away bratray there he is pretty comfortable where he is sixth place starts the moto back there quite often and then late in the race will really put on a charge wait for those last 10 minutes especially here in the altitude in a rough track rattray is seemingly indefatigable then you got brock tickle who i consider the american version of tyler rattray same thing you never see him up there off the start but late in the moto always making tracks as christopher purcell continues to inch away now the lead is 4.3 seconds so i can finally march out the crafty frenchman nickname once again every time they think they have the guy every time they feel that they can match his speed he figures out something and pulls away and that's what happened there goes rattray oh boy nice gonna follow wharton through wharton got the fourth now rattray's gonna get to fifth with the 505 of sean lipanovich between them and rattray's able to make the move and he got a very impatient rock tickle there he wants to follow rat trade through so now tickle's going to have to challenge his teammate dabo's tickle keeps you from an outside line headed down this start stretch we've said over and over the tickle and rattray seem to get stronger as the races go on unbelievable speed downhill can you maintain it all the way around that never ending right hand corner wharton's gonna make it tough it's pretty tough to move you know i've compared rattray to mike brown you know they sit on the bike the same they got those they're hunched back and they're just they'll just eat through you to get where they want to go tickle tickle making a move here on davalos so a little swap there between the teammates trying to keep pace with rattray purcell making it look real easy now you have to wonder what runs to the mind of christopher cell when he sees the dominance that ryan dungey has logged this year in the big class you could make the case that bracel was even a little faster than dungy outdoors last year so close between those two and uh super costs are pretty fairly equally matched as well last season when they're both on 250 bikes so add some confidence for next year and the big bikes saying well i've already raced the guy who's winning all the races i think if you put purcell in a 450 for the second moto today he'd be in contention for the win he's just a fantastic rider it doesn't matter what kind of track what size bike he knows how to ride a bike from point a to point b to see fast and efficient and when he gets on a 450 and has more power to take his time in those places and have the power to bail himself back out of that i think he's going to be even faster well because of that you got to figure he's got the upper hand in the off-season negotiations hardly any riders are locked down for the 450 class next year and you might be able to make the case i think dungey is the only guy that really is that isn't a free agent so you might make the case that he has the hottest property on the free agent market uh james stewart will be up for grabs as well but that's a bit of an unknown um since he only raced three races this year the difference i see between purcell and james is is uh james doesn't doesn't do well getting seconds and thirds purcell is okay with that once in a while providing that he is the upper hand at the end of the day or at the end of the war so i think he has a little bit more versatility in the fact that you know if he's not winning the points at a certain point or winning all the motors he doesn't get too rattled or too upset he's like hey look i know where i'm gonna end up eventually and so i'll just take care of business can't win them all well he's coming close he wins another first moto this time here in lakewood colorado so will this turn into the day where he wins both moto's finally or will it be more of what we've seen throughout the season one great race and one good race wilson's second canard third rat train tickle as we figure would continue to move up toward the end of the motor they did fourth and fifth eli tomac in seventh [Music] here we go moto 2 from colorado [Music] looked like he was a little late yep yeah you're right he's going to get squeezed out and look who's got the start that's the keys to the race trey canard he said he had to get the start he's got it his teammate blake warren right behind it be careful god flashback to the seattle supercross the two teammates ran into each other when they were just like this one and two dean wilson squeezes into the number three spot yes the 108 is going to make it happen they were that was close that was some sketchy business back there the big cluster guys trying to aim for a deep rut that's recipe for disaster canard jumped over that that jump heading up the hill so far he landed in one got a little fortunate rail on the outside right there leaving the door open but he knows he's carrying so much momentum he can hold his teammate off it's nice to have a teammate behind you i it wasn't nice apparently in seattle but i think they've learned from that and it's man it's a lot better than looking back there and seeing wilson or purcell or somebody like that get called to the 61 of vince freeze photo concept yamaha is up there battling with purcell right now in the top five so at the top of the show you said it's been hitting on black all year time to hit on red and that's maybe the case in this moto as uh canard and wharton put their red bikes out front of the green [Music] [Applause] interesting battle between the teammates rad train purcell they kind of chased each other from europe's gp series now over to the ama series in the u.s behind these guys still got freeze weimer tomac barsha's ninth and mata matt lemoine is tenth and i know what you're saying about this track getting rougher rattray usually don't even see him this far up in the order of their opening laps fourth and the track gets rougher and the day gets tougher this guy's in shape expect him to be here all the way to the end well one thing that's uh he's probably not liking is there is a black and i mean black huge it looks horrible off in the distance but the wind seems to be blowing the other way but however wait a minute uh the wind's blowing poor cell the other way he went from one side of the track to the other and he takes over the lead from ratchet so finally some spark early in the second photo from purcell we haven't seen it so far this year jake weimer meanwhile we hear things once again not going his direction let's check out the number 12. he is down again and you can tell he's just walking back over there like come on man wilson makes the move around the outside of wharton they're gonna go side by side wilson's on the inside wow man i didn't think wharton could do that from the outside cover the line he did not sure he knew he could do that either but you just do you just go for it when it's sometimes in the moment you do stuff and then later you think about it you're like that was pretty crazy oh man well now we know the black cloud is over the track it's just following weimer around so if you're in the race with him you're gonna have to deal with some bad weather that's a bummer unbelievable but uh boy he is way back now and it's going to be even worse when we calculate the points at the end of today how about blake wharton here in second doing a good job protecting his teammate trey canard from this monster pro circuit army yeah he's trey's best friend right now trey's got eyes in the back of his head a little bit going come on warden hold these guys off man let me get a nice cushion purcell working on wilson wilson working on wharton and canard with about a two second lead over them all look at the speed of wilson around the outside he's got a long way to go to try to pull out this pass on wharton still trying and wharton again riding the wide motorcycle that's twice that he's been able to maintain a spot that i thought he was going to give up such a good fight for this position and purcell just now oh i don't think he should have gone to i know he liked that berm and he's comfortable in it but left the door just a little bit open and wilson is just young loose fast you give him a little room he's going to take it orton trying to come back on him orton has always been tough under pressure he just maintains the same exact riding style same line usually doesn't get rattled oh that was a bad line there he hit a kicker coming into that corner porcell going to try to take advantage roussel put off the peg way wide here on this straightaway here we go orton takes a look over puts the blinker on puts the honda back in front of the kawasaki and maintains the number three spot purcell back to the inside again here we go uphill who's got the line going up this jump looks like for cell they got to give horton credit he tried everything yeah he's been fighting well this is interesting now that porcell has made the pass we have the exact reverse of the results of moto 1 for sellers third wilson second and trey canard in the lead so corcell's got to do some work or the overall win by a single point would go to canard wilson and for sale i think they had fun with each other and moto 1 this is serious here in moto 2 and that's why a rare inside move and even a little contact from the frenchman but he has to do it he's got to get serious and he does he's in the lead overall now i believe with that pass because he could go one two let's see what wilson can do can he get his teammate back oh jake weimer for the third time in this moto is down i don't even have words for that that's a bummer yeah purcell and i i thought canard was in the clear but purcell is fast and purcell again wants that sweep trey canard wants that breakthrough ride he had this thing under control for the first half but he's gonna have to deal with the serious points leader christoph purcell in the second half oh porcelain a great line on the inside and kenard still found a way to get back to the inside and hold him off now as they work their way down in this section yeah that has been where canard has been shading the outside got to cover it no he tried porcell was a little bit tighter and he's in the lead yeah it's not over canard's fighting for it but at some point if purcell just really lays down a couple good laps right here it forced canard into going hey this is way better than lately i'll just hang with this and look at for sale pull away from canard once he made that move uh here is uh rattray started in fourth staying in fourth rare from him usually gets stronger as race goes on but he was not able to keep pace and i think that's so much of a byproduct of what you said earlier maybe a little bit more determined christophe purcell he wasn't hanging out racing with his teammates for fun this time he was pushing him out away and going to the front and he left those guys wilson and rattray behind christoph purcell on fire today he was the favorite coming into this tour and now we see why david well besides his riding is amazing you know yeah he had to fight for this and use a lot of energy but the temperature is cooler i think that's helping him out quite a bit jeff amex sitting back here behind us going you know i think these temperatures are helping him out and i i agree 100 you know if you look a little closer to the way he does things the choices he makes on where to ride his uh his style how easy it makes it look it makes you want to get a bike and go riding all right he's only about a half a lap away from his first 1-1 moto sweep of the season and as you mentioned maybe the cooler temperatures were a factor in that even some rain coming down last week he won the first moto at butts creek and it was oppressive with the heat and humidity and he just didn't have the strength in moto 2 to follow up no such trouble here in the altitude this time christoph porcell dominates here in colorado uh rattray solid consistent day and nice job by martine davilos stay in the top ten let's go down to aaron bates christopher spell all smiles he's the first repeat winner of the season in 250f class christoph how aggressive did you have to be to make a pass happen on today's track you know i was just trying to go to the second motto and i'm like man i'm going to make it up and then and then i kind of screwed up my uh my start and i missed my gear and uh and then i was uh kind of full of i think and then i just i was like wide open on the track i'm really happy congratulations once again on extending your points lead trey canard and dean wilson round out the podium nice job by a couple of guys there cole sealy inside the top 10 with the ninth overall and uh talaratre solid consistent day and fourth chad reed actually had the fastest time of the second qualifying session grant's time from the first held up although sometimes they say the second one is really what matters because that would be the closest track condition to what they'll actually race on and nick way all the way on the inside we've got green and dungy right next to each other shorty short powered by the hometown fans out front he's got townley on the inside but andrew shorts going to control it so he's got the whole shot town in the number two spot dungey got shoved back he was there oh and he almost came together with ryan sipes dungey just able to keep it upright third is the 43 of the englishman stephen clark dodging out a fourth in front of grant sykes the usual great starter alessi up there but i don't know where he's accustomed to being he just jumped right in front of metcalf unless he's going to come to the screen of the white right side going around the outside of those guys the closest to the front we've seen talent he's had a couple of decent starts but he hasn't been up the second early like this good opportunity for him to learn from a guy who's done a lot of laps here andrew short where's reid way back that's nick wade that came through in the kawasaki i still don't see reed and that's just one corner you imagine what your goggles are looking like you're trying to go fast there's no good place to reach up and yet you know you got mud all over your lenses and these first laps it's when it's a little bit wet you know just to make the track better for the whole moto boy having a nice start being out there in front like these guys are it makes such a difference look at all these dozer tracks down here david they've done a lot of work before this first motor of the day so this is not gonna look like this for long no i think you know it they left most of it rough i don't think they did too much you know to where we saw reed and a couple of guys going man why do they do that they did it a little too much i think in texas i don't think they've done too much here what i've seen so far well we're looking for reed and we actually picked up way again i still don't see the number one finally we pick him up battling it out with his uh fellow countryman jake moss who's back in action after an injury and passes another australian matt moss a reed i'm saying this is outside of the top 20. that is difficult another rider down reed's got a lot of work to do that's justin berry by the way another english rider grant battling it out with clark they're going to drag race uphill and grant able to shut him down nice move from the outside to the inside to close down that spot so that should move grant up to third grant went around the corner down there really nice but also that's some joe gibbs horse power okay you know they admitted they struggled last year where the yamahas were carbureted and they have fuel injection this year and i asked jeremy albright the team manager if that would help things and he said well i'll tell you at the end of the day oh metcalf was going to make the move and then remember i'm talking scary right there when you go off there in a two-wheel drift and you flop there sideways and land like that that'll get you to slow down after from now on through there you know it's still a little slick in spots and clark now under attack from sipes is under attack from townley who was second early they made a quick mistake and that's how quickly he can go backwards if you make one mistake in the opening laps with this that's class and let's see what happens down at the end of this straight away clark does a little bit of head shake that got a little scary for him wow nice line by townley from the outside of the inside to get around clark and now the cream begins to establish themselves good starts for cunningham and clark but uh they're going backwards right now look at cunningham trying to make moves on clark and he makes it definitely now moving up punch yeah sipes that time understanding i can't go wide like that with anybody on my tail again oh that's close gonna get a chance to show you the line that townley used to make that pass was all the way on the outside of a sweeper and then cut back to the inside dave you can break that down for us in a moment but right now he's going after sipes look at talent just not following trying to create something going somewhere else all the time part of that is a dodge ruse part of that is to make the right in front of you nervous oh let's see if it pays off he goes to the inside and he's going to try to do the same thing grant did and he makes it work sipes wisely moves to the outside and tries to avoid that roost but it's not going to allow him to pass toward the back so ben townley man if not for that one mistake i'll laugh one who knows where he would be how about josh grant we mentioned he was the fastest guy oh that's short short is down the leader wow so he had the five second lead and he's just given all that back ass some mud in the gloves to see him try to wipe his hands and that group of yamaha's going by and that was han next he's going to be outside the top 10 before this is over and heartbreaker for the home state rider just takes a split second from everything for everything to go from great to lousy now this is the battle for the lead and greg's coming it's fast enough to win this thing dungey's gonna want to but he's not gonna go crazy and jeopardize the war to win you know for this battle i just don't see it dungey's he's probably not as motivated for a moto win as grant is at this point i think that's fair to say and chad reid incidentally in 18th place right now so it's all sorts of shaken up oh no that is uh is that han or is that moss looks like number teammates we got a 10 and a 40. i think that is the 40 of moss who just came back from injury and unfortunately it's only made it a few laps in and he is shaken up i'm sure they'll get the help down to him as quickly as possible i think he's on the far side of the racetrack but uh dr john bodner and the crew they do have mules so they can get over there fairly quickly but oh man that's a tough way to welcome yourself back to racing for uh mr moss all right it's kind of stabilized just for the moment grant putting some pressure on dungey so let's drop a little further back a lot further than i thought oh townley down again on the right side of your screen lost the front end as he was challenging metcalf for third and that's been the story with townley this year every time you think it's gonna happen he's had the speed obviously the equipment is there uh his endurance is strong but always a little gremlin here and there that seems to stop him from getting that momentum here is grant still right behind dungey and unless grant can put that kind of pressure on dungey dungeon do this all day this is the kind of pressure right here there you go what a line by grant that's about three times further distance around the outside but you just go three times faster and you make the pass that was smart on grant's part because he knew he was close there in those couple laps prior so we had to stay close enough to dungey when he approached that section that way he could charge into that outside and gamble that he would go around there fast enough to just beat him to the next right-hander and work great now we finally see reed who is just trying to get into the top ten got some real contenders back there including reed short and alessi who are outside the top ten um i don't see i can't see anything from my vantage point here that would uh indicate why he hasn't moved forward more than he has already let's go down to aaron actually for another report on read aaron i just caught up with dana wiggins whose chad reads mechanic and he informed me said i don't know what's going on other than the fact he had a really poor start and it's taking him a long time to get going he's hoping he's going to be able to turn it around here shortly [Music] there is a metcalf and then you got to han in the number four position honda be impressive to put that bike on the podium uh we're gonna go a little further back here this is alessie's trouble that makes sense something had to happen yep well it looks like he didn't lose a lot of time but some positions here's han putting pressure on metcap here comes han on the inside of metcalf gaming chicken down in this corner and hans going to win it take over third just didn't want to lift and that was a nice piece of ride real aggressive here comes townley recovering from a bunch of stuff he wishes he could take back the energy efficiency of townley not so good he has to spend a lot of extra effort to make up for that uh two crashes so he's been on the charge pretty much the whole motor no chance to rest oh sipes well that shakes up the order remember sipes was there battling with cunningham in around the top five and obviously mechanical troubles he looks okay and he's in a bad spot at the track to come get a push and uh ryan dungey the number two spot eight seconds behind josh grant tommy han is third metcalf and cunningham right now the top five townley is sixth chisholm seventh short eighth dennis regal reed and reardon how about this kid josh grant powerful today just every wave you slice it just powerful strong good lines good aggression on the power in the right places so far so good josh grant wins motor number one here's everyone who finished behind grant he's on the top of the board we mentioned dungey and han putting their suzuki second and third another quiet but solid run out of brett metcalf and kyle cunningham the top five nicely done as we mentioned at the top of the show we're not running under the lights this year and what that allows them to do is make the bumps and jumps bigger because i don't have to worry about big shadows we've got perfect daylight and perfect weather let's go racing and it's almost a replay the first moto andrew short edging out oh a big pile up in the first turn cunningham who is fifth and moto one is down josh one winner is down and dan reardon as well so andrew shorts got the lead ryan dungey is second and look at josh grant first in the first moto dead last in moto 2. there's his dad on the right side of the track screaming oh man dungy jumping really close to the edge of the track i'll get your heart rate up a little bit another opportunity for and for uh short and you saw him between motors how is that looking hey i don't want to talk about it that was the report from andrew short after leading and falling down oh where chad reed gets buried under brett metcalf and a bunch of riders got slowed up there kyle regal as well so this first lap has been torture for some of our top riders reed grant taking advantage of short study one and two ryan dungey is all over andrew short and ben talley trying to stick with him in third different lines for dungey so far not able to make the pass trying to stay out of the roost as well that's coming off that rear tire shorts bike like rocks out of a fast pitch just nailing you it's hard to focus so you know there's a there's a lot of lines there's one really fast one and dungey's gotta think about where he can go to stay out of that roost some of the time oh foot getting ripped off the peg you gotta be on their toes on the peg because if you scoot your feet forward to the arches your toe hangs out the front you bike sags down to those rusts it rips your feet off the peg like just happened there dungey on the inside again here we go side by side no contact shorts got to try to fight back he couldn't clear the double and just like that brian dungey's in the lead all right so what is tally thinking he sees that uh dungeon is going to put on a sprint he's got to do what he can to get around short and go for it yep that's why you train don't hold back at all if you take a face full of ruse so be it just keep gassing it and he saw how dungy was able to make his move so we'll see if he uh can do the same thing you know that was right where short had his problem in the first model at the approach to it over that step up and uh maybe he's a little shy right through there or something and see if if i were done or uh tell me rather i would i would really make an effort to stay close to him right there and keep pressure on it all these guys are closing up six wheel to wheel with tommy han on the rockstar suzuki at the back of that train then it's metcalfe and regal metcalf going after regal right here and talon going after short townley around the outside and wriggle around the outside there was no run or burn for regal to use it he still almost got it and got past again so townley followed the same thing that dungey did and it worked i can't believe short allowed that short to the inside too late tally's in the second see if he can put his head down and go after the leader but he's gonna have to work cause look at this battle han side by side with regal now tremendous racing here at thunder valley whose lines better oh obviously hans didn't work out for regal at all and and unless he goes by that'll move him up to six now maybe you saw last time around dungey just ran a 211 that's the fastest lap of the race short trying to stay with townley as townley tries to stay with dungey dungey's putting the hammer down this could be a private duel for second tommy hahn well he saw that rockstar banner there he's part of the team you don't want to go that close that's a good average you know hey that's frustrating though yeah i mean he obviously had the speed considering how well he rode to the first motor he's trying to make a pass that's going to drop him i would think outside the top 10 now brian dungey got an 8.3 second lead over ben townley we're halfway through this moto tally is riding as hard as he possibly can but dungy is still running 211 lap times and pulling away there's mehdi who is a third in points actually coming into this race he's been very consistent this year let's see what the lessee can do hit the reset button after a bad first moto much better this time in practice coming over that jump the wind kicked up just a weird gust and it blew the banners across the track it wrapped around his neck and yanked him off the bike he just stood there like come on it's been kind of one of those days he's trying though tommy han is in the pits remember he dislocated his shoulder last week in maryland but uh they're carrying them off i've got to think that's a lower body injury uh aaron bates what do you have well guys i just asked tommy han if we could grab a word from him but apparently he just mentioned that he's got a broken leg and riders know their bodies well enough to know the situation that's taking place but as you're witnessing he was just sat on the back of the mule the astrix medical team is taking good care of them they'll observe them take them back and make sure everything's okay oh that is terrible his best ride of the season in the first motor where he got third tommy came in with a shoulder injury of his own toughed it out and his reward for toughing it out even more pain now we finally see chad reed who was down on the first lap just another rough day for chad reed eighth place [Music] let's go back to the 29 and the 24 duking it out for third you know short just cannot relax with metcalf back there and their pace is keeping them pretty close to townley so this second third fourth battle is still close brian dungey has it dialed in and by the way they have efi on these bikes now last year was in the 250 class and uh they were running a carburetor on the bikes this did they move up to the 450 which is fuel injected and uh all the mechanics say that makes life a lot easier on them yeah but they're still experimenting they go down to the pits actually in between laps and practice and reprogram those to try to get the right setup now they'll pull them off the track in the middle of practice yeah fiddle with it yep try to see if they can move the power around a little bit and i think it was pretty unanimous today the bikes just off the bottom they're slow so they go up a bigger rear sprocket they add a tooth i figured they'd just go up a tooth but in some cases guys are going up three teeth mainly for the start and uh tight corner like he's approaching right here but you know i was thinking back i don't remember exactly all the results but dungey hasn't had the best luck here at this track so this is a major turnaround for him yeah that's the way it's going right now also some teams with other tricks we heard uh taking some weight off of the flywheel just trying to make the bike at least feel like it's snappy even though it won't have the same amount of horsepower just try to trick yourself yeah and you can also you know sometimes a little bit smaller rear tire so you don't have so much bite that drags power out of the engine i've been away from a little bit from a mechanical standpoint and so i not really an expert in that area but you know the basics of course you want to get that power where the rider wants it where they where it's usable and uh you know fiddle with the gearing i mean those those right there are real important but even if you don't if you miss that a little bit the rider can make up for it that's what i like about motocross and car racing it's a lot car not so much rider and this sport you can be a little off with your setup but if you want it bad and you're riding well you can make up for it yeah it's certainly as much man as it is machine if not more and that's what ryan dungey has done he just keeps on working on his fitness and sometimes it gets kind of boring the guy keeps talking about the same stuff over and over but working on the same things over and over and over has allowed him to get to this level reason he's got the red numbers on his bike that's because he's the series points leader and that leads only going to be bigger and bigger after this he's looking at four in a row ryan dungey takes to toyota trucks national here at lakewood colorado there's tally the kiwi and we've got an australian there and fourth the brett metcalf and unfortunately chattering after a first lap crash ends up in seventh you can make the argument that grant was the fastest rider here today i think that's fair to say yeah brett metcalf is definitely excelling he is now up to second in the series another bad day for chad reed and all the other guys like mike alessi and josh grant that we thought would be able to challenge this title just continue to lose more ground to that ryan dungey express tommy haunt has nineteen points but unfortunately we believe broke his leg here in the second moto 250 moto one this has been one competitive series let's go racing in the 250 class [Music] wow yeah porcell got a full bike like the front of everyone he's going to capture the whole shot a lot of green up there rat trey weimer's on the inside three though honda almost got in there but i believe that was the pc hondas one two and three barsha is the honda there that is challenging them in fourth but i think you're right i think the pro circuit boys got off one two three rattray over jumped it using that same line townley used and it works he holds up arsha at least for the moment at tickle working weimar right now tickle on the 20 weimar on the 12. weimer won this race last year he needs a win in the worst way everything that could have gone wrong has gone wrong for him outdoors in 2010. he wants to go forward but can't ignore this guy behind him tickle [Music] oh and poor cell he dumps larocco's leap the other riders didn't that's gonna help him out getting back to my point jason is you have got to take that guy out of his rhythm there's no other if not he's just going to go ride the race on his terms their leaders are purcell rattray barsha weimer and tickle are fourth and fifth all these guys picking their spots finding their lines yeah and and speaking of lines here uh there's been a lot of interesting stuff happening in the back of the pack and watch the line choice here from 585 travis baker watch the front wheel get over sticks the front tire the bike lands on pulls him all the way back around you know he's going to get up from that he's going to be frustrated shaking let's go back to the action out front it's porcell leading rattray and barshen then we're watching weimer tickle and wilson fourth fifth sixth wilson on the charge jeff i think this season the last thing you want to see is the 108 because this kid's been out of control this year the kid that hails from scotland originally um finally has gone into the right tickle that didn't pay off here goes wilson inside wow look you saw that coming jeff on the pegs just carried his momentum through there that's what i like about this kid is his riding style he's pretty tall okay but he really uses his lower body and squeezes the bike with his legs and with his knees just a awesome technique [Music] let's go back to the leader right now the 377 he doesn't have anybody to battle with right now he's starting to run away with this and look how patiently he went through there squared the bike up rolled on the throttle okay all you kids watching at home that want to stop the dvr and go back to the corner before that's how it's done let's see his line here let's see if he gets up a little bit a little bit not quite as smooth as earlier in the moto but i'm telling you poetry in motion for christopher purcell [Music] no change in the running order here these guys have gotten close at times but no one's been able to make passes uh tickle has been all over wilson at times weimer gets close to barsha we're kind of waiting as we are 22 minutes into this race for someone to get aggressive and make a pass [Music] check it out jeff we got a little crash here to take us through yeah watch this little crash here riders come three needed to get on the brakes number 185 what uh yeah that's that's frustrating he came off the drop off and he really needed to have his weight towards the front of the bike and to be getting on on the brakes and really the only positive thing out of that there for him is that he kept the engine running and got back up and going yeah okay without having to start it that was a keely rusk who had his best race i believe his career last week in colorado this is the race to watch right now there's tickle who's keeping the heat on wilson then wharton and then canards something's got to happen with these four oh it's gonna happen okay what's gonna happen look at this canard out in the dust just wow working the honda look at how he came through there is he have the line here he goes they're teammates don't get too close wow what a scrub right there i think he was underneath his teammate wharton there so canard on the 38 gets around wharton on the 21 and as we saw that wide shot jason oh look at warden on the inside that wide shot showed us not only uh tickle and wilson weimar those guys up there but a handful of left riders too so it's going to get interesting here unless those lap riders really get out of the way see right here he gets caught up he has to jump out and that's going to allow wharton the inside here we go it's a drag race into this corner now there's more lap traffic on the inside and that forces wharton wide and allows kennard to hold the spot great racing between the teammates and they keep pushing each other like this brock tickle and dean wilson are not too far in front of them porcelain 4.8 second lead sorry he's leading brad trey barsha weimer then wilson fifth but i really like what i'm seeing here on the 12 of jake weimer holding his composure rebounding off of what has to be one of the most frustrating motors but he's staying in it look at this they're starting to close in on barsia yeah the 12 of weimer crashed i believe four times in our second moto one week ago in colorado uh oh here comes the attack way to wilson got him before they even got to this corner wow that was smooth smooth as a canadian sunset as some would say even though it's a great result for wyman right now he is in fifth but he doesn't want to be the fourth out of four on the team right yeah yeah so he's gonna keep fighting he better here comes tickle tickle on the inside with canard and wharton right there with him and a pile oh and weimer goes down and takes tickle with him and nice patient move hanging up high on the inside then canard got through canard and morton once again that's exactly how it's gone all year for wyman unbelievable all season let's see how he can rebound from this right now at this point i'm thinking okay i need to keep this thing on two wheels we've got a little over two minutes plus two laps to go here's the 36 of darren durham try to put him in the ninth place unbelievable how it's just instant replay each week with weimer they're not huge yard sale crashes they're just simple little tip overs jeff so weimer gonna have to hustle just to finish in the top ten in this moto just more of the same rats right here he's trying to trying to win the moto but he just can't seem to match the pace of porcell and and uh when you compare it to a writer like ricky carmichael who back in the days he would have wanted to just demolish everybody by like 40 seconds you know right cell's not worried about that i i just want to win the motto [Music] kenard carries a lot of speed up here to larocco's leap he's going to have the white flag and justin barsher right in front of him after this corner here we go two teammates duking it out he's not waiting in the last lap he's gonna start it at the beginning of it and kenar gets the spot same spot as he passed his other teammate that was almost pokemon going down he slid out and that could have been really bad for barsha as he stalled out in front of him but both riders keeping it together here but canard passing marsha in the same spot that he got wharton earlier in the moto well he was about 10th at one point kenard he's climbed all the way up to fourth no chance to challenge this guy rattray's as strong as it gets but unfortunately it wasn't quite fast enough in this motor to keep porcell within his sights and kristap horcell wins his third straight moto morcell rat chain wilson on the podium and then comes the americans kenara barsha wharton tickle durham izzy and ecuador's martine davalos rounding out the top 10. purcell won both motors at our last race in colorado trying to do it again yeah and you can see how at this line here it's all disc up on this side and it's hard pack over in here so the riders really get a chance on these 250 f's to grab that that next gear whether they start first or second here we go motor number two from redbud [Music] looks like the green bike's edging him out again a couple of yamaha's up in there too on the inside oh and he's gonna get edged out wilson got that whole shot he said he had to get jeff he's got his teammate rattray wharton and anstey right there hey and wilson has the ability in these second motors to check out to put on that burst of speed but he's followed by mr second moto also tyler rattray yeah those are two of the strong guys in this class look at wharton with that sebastian tortelli experience i'm sure he talked to him in between motors he is third look at the ruts in that turn this track is going to be brutal right now we've got 35 minutes roughly until the end of this motor wharton was able to get around rattray using an outside line through those ruts there's ants down the blue bike the 48 and the 17 abortions the 38 of kenard the hondas have definitely responded off the start here but still got two of the kawasaki's in front of him where is porcell all the way on the right side of your screen and this is the type of moto that earlier in this the oh wharton makes a mistake and he's gonna lose a position all three of them rattray and steve barsha all come through you do not want to bang bars with partial he'll win that one every time he takes third from ansty this is the type of moto earlier in the season where we would see purcell have a little slip up and not be able to to uh complete and have the consistency is this the motor where these guys are going to knock him off at the top spot of the podium at the end of the day yeah you're right these second motors these rough tracks these hot days there have been a couple of them where he has not been able to move forward and he's got to pass all these guys wharton on the 21 canard in the 38 barsha anstey rattray wilson it's got a lot of competition look at this battle and she's fast there's no doubt about that he actually gets back around barsha so the young kid out of england 17 years old puts his yamaha right in the mix with the kawasaki's and in front of those haunted teammates who are nose to tail again barshot on the 17 trying to work over antsy he goes to the outside and stay on the inside that is a battle for third canard is right there with them then it's wharton and porcell and while all this action goes on wilson and rattray trying to get away barsha gonna make another pass on anstey that's twice they've gone back and forth and look at canard just not enough room to put that honda through why did the local hero mike larocco is the team manager for this geico power sports honda team give these guys a pep talk okay maybe some insight on how to finish off the second moto here at what is his hometown national yeah morocco multi-time national champ now he runs the show for geico power sports honda and his man canard just went right in front of max anstey and made a pass so now two teammates third and fourth two teammates first and second and i think they're gonna square off here [Music] how about canard goes around barsha is team eight canards going straight to the front jeff whoo almost threw it away though well and that's is exactly what he did in moto one except it seemed like it took him a little a little time to get going but now he has just caught fire up into third place now at least got the fastest lap of the moto oh but just like that marshall fights back feed off the pegs it's a moto gp star coming into that corner and canard's going to try to get it back these guys turning in bars they don't care teammates or not and marsha gets them back did you see that canard actually his clutch lever got knocked down the whole clutch purge he came off of the alessi falls there and actually had to knock it up while he was in the air to get it back in the position look at this trey canard he is sick and tired of the ferner is winning this 250s class he just leaps past tyler rattray oh and ratchet gets him back on the off camber so rattray the south african holding off the kid from oklahoma and the scotsman out front what a race and don't forget barsha right back there and fourth we have 20 minutes plus two laps porcell just turned the fastest lap of the moto [Music] 220 220.6 like it or not that's reality fifth place he's on the move it looked like they had poor cell on the ropes and that means we're gonna have great racing here at redbud dean wilson leading the way here at the rockstar energy drink national from redbud a rookie 18 years old in the number 108 born in scotland raised in canada now lives in california every way you want to slice it he's got the lead and the battle for second rage is on trey canard finally makes the pass on ratchet that one four or five laps he was leaning on him and then ratchet don't look back because you've got the 17 of marshall right there new leader here at red but trey canard pulled the trigger and made the move on dean wilson look at wilson trying to get him back jeff hamik how about that move there let's see if he tucks a tight line there and there's a lapper in the way oh and it clips wilson and he goes for the lead i can't believe despite the traffic that he was able to still get the number one spot back canard's not happy here he goes to the inside he bumps wilson off the track wilson has to get back on in a safe spot and he cannot gain a position he misses the whole larocco's leap and gets back into second place oh he's got to be ticked now oh yeah that was full contact canard's got to pull that trigger though and he did that was so aggressive and look at what that battling has done it's allowed battery bar shot to close the gap in now it's wilson and rattray but we're missing poor self in this group he has gone back to sixth and it's wharton on the number 21 in fifth who's closing so porcello's lost it here down the stretch oh look at brad trey around the outside no wilson holding him up again here's some more laughers getting in there look at wilson just controlling those insides jeff oh this outside's quick too right here let's see if he can oh he messes it up just a little bit got his weight to the left side of the bike didn't quite carve the line he wanted but he is relentless this guy this guy is a fighter i'm telling you and he's looking for his second overall win in the year wilson he's gonna get squeezed out if he ends up this with 3-2 he won't be able to win the overall kind of reminds you of another south african that had so much success on this team and in this class of grant langston who is just one of the most ultimate warriors ever to ride a motocross bike he was tough look at wharton on the uh sorry barcelona 17 and wharton on the 21. whoa brad train throws it away what'd you say about those bumps getting big coming into those corners and kicked him all the way over wow watch this replay focus on the 20. he goes around the outside of wilson watch him gas it wheelies in there and watch the one bump the picture says it all end over end and there's the mechanic for ratchet man they had a shot at the overall it is gone now has that opened the door for trey kennard to win his first well he's still going to battle yeah and this isn't over the math is going to be crazy here as porcelain our moto 1 winner dropped out but basha another geico power sport honda rider still plugging away still charging hard and i you know that mike larocco their team manager has had he he gave one of those you know vince lombardi pep talks or morocco doesn't speak much but when he does it's very serious and you know these kids are listening barshaw what was that about 20 feet extra air on that jump it's the last lap he's getting desperate he and wilson fellow rookies and they are not really the best of friends off the track oh really because of the oh a little mistake by wilson we're on the outside who will be the top rookie in this one wilson wants to finish in front of barcelona wants to finish in front of wilson the american against the uh the canadian or scotsman trey canard on july 4th fights his way through the french the south african the europeans and is going to end up the overall winner here at red bud [Music] second is going to go to wilson just edging barsha across the line and look at the feeling of euphoria for trach and i'm finally getting that win great ride by all these guys today wilson was just inches away from the second overall of the year barsha almost got it wharton and the christopher purcell fading down the stretch trey canard takes the win dean wilson so close to his second win of the year and christopher purcell ends up on the podium again so he'll definitely preserve that big points lead with that eli tomac ends up in 10th dean wilson's looking good he is second in the tour add some more to his lead over ratchet with rattray's endo trey canard as you see he's top american in the series and brock tickle uh looking good moves up to fifth we come to this majestic setting here that's known as redbud which the riders say this is the best track on the circuit the fans love this place we have a beautiful day of racing right there in the high 80s couldn't be any better let's let's drop the gate on moto one here at red button in the 450s and looks like ryan dungey on the inside but it's going to be andrew short and the 101 of ben townley leading them into turn number three and that is five straight whole shots with the 29 of andrew short we welcome jamie bespic back to the program he missed you at uh high point i know you had some activities of your own good to see you back at the races bud yeah i'm stoked to be back here redbud you know this track is all about high-speed action and the fans the fans are what make this track they're lunatics they're absolutely crazy you know i've been rolling around the pits this morning just meeting some of the guys out there and just talking to some of the fans and they are loving it right now oh this is the perfect way to celebrate independence day weekend oh my gosh mike alessia goes down jeff well he got a great start here on that 350 ktm great for this year he was inside the top five top ten but definitely he's gonna give it away here as he's trying to squeeze out some other riders you can see once again for lessee back in the pack now the desperation already starts for team uh ktm jeff take us through what happened watch this here so watch the left hand side of your screen here watch leslie when he lands comes up a little short and hits a wet spot there and the bike just just slides out a little bit too much weight to the inside or the right side of the bike how about the hondas out front the factory honda red bull ride of short and the troiley lucas oil honda of townley in town he looks very determined here in the number two spot sat down with andrew short this morning you know and uh you know everybody knows he's this fun loving motocross rider you know he wants to go out there he wants to do so well but what he's got to do now is he's got an unfortunate he's got a hang on he's going to hold him this is his problem he lets people go past he makes silly mistakes now if you're andrew short get on the back tire of this guy and just pin it give him a run for his money don't you they're in third and then we'll get a glimpse of who's behind dungey the man carrying the number one plate we have not seen him up front the last couple of photos chad reed oh looks like grant's gonna try to set up reid yeah that a boy josh get him putting it on and reed was not able to hook onto the rear fender of dungey and the danger is he might go all the way back to fit there's alex doing the mechanic for josh grant it's the big ski jump reed just for the moment at least able to hold them off but this is heavy pressure you know when you're coming into these shadows jeff is it a big deal do things change that drastic i think things might change here in this battle sorry about that he's going for the number two spot he's got it and nice job he went from outside inside set up andrew short and this is what we've been saying was short he's got five straight hole shots but he's only generated one moto win out of these races and he's going back again well you know and all of our core motocross fans know that where the dirt is is uh dry it's typically lighter easier to see but this track has got so much moisture in it you see how much darker it is and especially in those off-cambered shadowed sections where dungy made the pass short shorts fighting back and he makes the move in the crowd here at red bud goes crazy that's what we've been waiting to see from the 29 [Applause] chad certainly is putting on a great ride right now and you can see he's kind of got the chest out you know his body language is back okay um certainly you look better when you're out front and fourth rather than 14th you know so that helps yeah it's easy it's easy to be like oh everything's great now yeah yeah but uh i think with 30 minutes left on the clock though reid really needs to start making an impact like he's got to get up to where short is and short needs to overtake townley so reid is a vicious racer okay he is extremely competitive and so right now we've got about four riders within one turn this thing's really getting ready to heat up shorts got to try to figure out a place to rip some tear offs he's gonna have to get to the inside dungey has got this line let's see how he handles the hook right here oh it's beautiful oh but not enough to make the pass but he's right behind him now yeah he and there was a lot smoother around the outside there jeff it keeps the power down let's see who's got it dungey does for the moment shorts going to nail that run on the inside and take i think reed has to respond just the way dungey did so he's going to try to make quick work of short short all four of these like that one all four of these riders right now are showing showing such great composure right nobody's really outside of chad coming up a little short there uh-oh hope he's all right he hit pretty hard there's a good chance you know you start to sweat so much in your helmet there that it knocked your goggles down a little bit you kind of just got to reset it reach up and get going again what's uh reed thinking here jamie as you see short and really all three riders in front of it yeah reeds right now he's thinking nothing other than getting past all three of these guys even townley you know he's got it he's he's just got short can short respond back who knows but right now chad reid is looking at dungey this is great racing oh man this is so exciting you know those red bull fans are going to be actually going out of their mind there we go again and tally's got no choice he's got to go to the outside i don't know if it's going to work they almost touch again wow and tally's going to try to control it up this jump no dungey has got him can he get him on the inside line though this time and tally yes kelly's in the main line though and he made it work wow ben tom lee is not giving up how about it these guys are going after they're racing so clean too they're using all of the lines on the track okay now watch this see this is all hard packed look at the tip toe this is like first gear and rear wheel sliding around then you come down into this really deep mud section look at reed look at reed the lines are totally reversed from where it was the previous lap dodgy on the outside tallies on the inside tally's going to control it can you believe this guys these guys are just one lap to go here at red bud moto one ben townley holding steady in the lead and tally's got a bunch of lines here figured out to try to hold dungeon off he's got lots of practice on how to stop him or get him back if he gets past and he covered that inside right there he covered the inside watch everyone funnel into the inside here once again so townley very wisely puts the troy lee honda to the inside he's going to be watching all the entertainment work in that bike jamie definitely working that bike you know he's going overtime oh no townley throws it away on the last lap that has been his undoing he said those little crashes those tip-overs and when he went to read what happened to ray reid hit town leaves bike and then went into the uh the blocks watch his talent comes over this double here everything's perfect he over jumps a little bit and why right here he grabs the front wheel and reed oh he went down over here on the left you believe that tally his second moto he's gonna be like a man possessed but moto one they better bolt down all the stuff in the troy league truck because talon is gonna start grabbing and throwing everything he can find because he threw this one away and ryan dungey wins a dramatic first motto at red bud i have to feel a little bit for josh grant because you know this was his breakout win last year you know i really thought that you know coming in today he would be up there with the leaders he might be a moto 2 but we know who wins moto 1 it's ryan dungeon now you saw those results from the first moto folks we will combine those scores with the results from this one to determine an overall victory today let's go racing at redbud dungey's gonna lead andrew short into the first turn dungey's on the yellow bike the number five but looking short on the inside trying to run with him not going to happen all our top riders are right inside the top five there reeds in there townley metcalf a perfect scenario right here as they drop down this big ski jump shorts the man in second reed is the man in third in the green he wants to go after short make short work of him and then go after dungey look at him bouncing around this track is super rough jamie that's for the challengers trying to knock the guy off of his rhythm the guy that has all the confidence the bike's working great everything's flowing you have to go out and attack him and give him no breathing room to ride his own race short pulling away and there's larocco's leap for the first time 120 feet out short nails it perfectly he's got dungey townley reed and i'm also seeing the 800 of michael leslie up in the mix here too so like you said jeff all the front runners are there the battle is on here at red bud rock star energy drink red butt national ryan dungey on the inside trying to take the lead for andrew's short and dungey hangs about to dry on the outside and grabs the number one spot jason white again jeff family jamie beswick giving you the call this is how dungy does it he lays back a little bit jamie and like you said then he responds that's right great move there from ryan dungey saw which line short had been taken and you know it's pretty similar to the line that short was taking all moto one he went wide he squared it up he hit the gas donji got him and look at the top of your screen on the red bike to 101 of ben townley looking for redemption after falling with the lead in moto number one and giving up the moto win here he goes quick pass on short moves into the number two spot instantly he knows he's got to respond and they jump the 120 foot gap together and right now tally in control of second countley trying to keep dungeon in his sights and reed we just struck nick like you said he was gonna be the next guy yeah you know andrew is just struggling right now you know it that's the biggest thing he's got to work on is just not letting people pass being ruthless enough to keep his position and keeping that focus but reads through if townley and dungy get into it reed's going to be catching up real soon we got a change over here chad reed has gotten around ben townley for second so he's going to make a run after dungey yeah that's right you know read the mora experience he's used to winning races he knows what it takes to outlast his opponents but now you know he's looking at a seven get seven second gap up to uh dungy so you know it's all on him but dungey right now he's followed short he's followed townley he's not making mistakes he's seen where their fast lines were he's just capitalizing he's got open track yeah 13 minutes plus two laps if he can reel in dungey oh it'd be huge he could win the overall he was second to first moto any mistake by ryan dungey which he hasn't cracked this season okay since he started winning dungey's been awesome but you can see now chad reid just starting to bounce his way through this from starting to find a rhythm that he hasn't had the last few weeks so chad reed is a improvement this weekend but those two honda's still going on at the 29 is short in the 24 metcap this is good jamie but right now he's got uh he's got his hands full oh yeah here comes metcalf the australian goes from outside to inside and puts the number 24 machine into the number four spot and short continues to work his way backwards he's now in fifth let's check out josh grant here on the 33. he was a favorite to win this race he won it last year well then as you're looking at the rider just in front of him regal who really has the first motors have been tough for him this year but the second motors when it's hot and rough and the heat and humidity is kicking in regal really has stepped it up regal on the last lap here he is an 18 year old kid out of texas drives his own fan of the races with his own bike in the back he doesn't have the full support of that muscle milk toyota jjr team like grant does and grant just put the bike in front of him i'm going past you kyle talk about hooking up there after that pity sign is they cut left there on to the start oh oh that far in front of them by the way but looking at grand style getting past regal and it's that all or nothing style it's so if they got in front of him he didn't let him get too far ahead he made sure that he made the pass quick and clean and got on with fast laps yeah and then to go back to the opening of the show and my points about you know progression you want to progress throughout the day certainly has progressed you're right consistently first that's a good thing top one okay yeah my two bullet points he's once again executed to perfection and uh jeff i want to just talk about it he hits loraco sleep for the last time just want to talk about uh he is the rookie but man he sure doesn't ride like it we've seen very few mistakes at them all year the indoor touring super cross and the outdoor tour here in motocross ryan dungey is going to win his fifth straight lucas oil a may promote across championship event in a dominant second moto run lucas oil troy honda ends up third metcalf outdoors short for fourth and fifth grant regal sipes alessi cunningham right on the top ten tough day for leslie let's send it down to the podium with tiffany when you go look back at the first moto and how crazy it was this one it kind of allowed you to get into your zone there was almost this quiet focus about when you were out there riding yeah it was not as much battling you know i was able to get uh open up a little bit of a lead and things were a little stretched out which i was able to pick my own lines and make up a little bit of time but uh you know it's uh it's fun day you know the fans are great and uh fourth of july week and i hope everybody enjoys it all right for the fans do a big red button red bud back to you guys points dungey continues to stretch it out reed takes the number two spot back from his fellow australian metcalf it is so close between second and seventh in this tournament you
