Hello everyone, welcome to Mita World (Mita Sekai) Today, I want to talk to you about the different types of seats on the Shinkansen (bullet train) and how to purchase them Before we start the video, remember to like, subscribe, and turn on the notification bell! In Japan, apart from airplanes, the Shinkansen is a great choice It allows you to reach distant travel destinations in a short amount of time It is highly cost-effective and convenient during the journey You can enjoy the scenery You can comfortably sit in your seat and sleep Or you can enjoy a delicious bento box (Ekiben) The fare depends on the departure and destination, so there is no fixed ticket price The seats on the Shinkansen are divided into three types: Reserved Seat, Unreserved Seat, and Green Car Reserved Seat Reserved seats need to be purchased in advance By purchasing a reserved seat, you don't have to worry about finding a seat when boarding the train So, purchasing a reserved seat ensures peace of mind, and if you are traveling as a pair, you can comfortably sit together without the need to separate You can also purchase seats with a good view of the scenery I highly recommend purchasing reserved seats Unreserved Seat Unreserved seats allow you to choose any available seat, but if someone with a reserved seat ticket happens to have the same seat, you would need to give up the seat to them However, some Shinkansen trains do have unreserved seats, and their availability may vary in different cars The ticket price for unreserved seats is cheaper than that of reserved seats But it can be unsettling and worrisome, as there is a possibility of occupying a seat reserved by someone else, and if there are no available seats, you may have to stand throughout the journey I recommend it for budget-conscious solo travelers who don't mind sitting anywhere. Green Car The symbol outside the car looks like four leaves, and it is slightly more expensive than reserved seats, resembling a business class Another thing to note is that if you are carrying a luggage, remember to reserve a seat for your luggage at the time of ticket purchase If you haven't made a reservation, there is a possibility of being charged for luggage either before or after boarding (remember to confirm with the staff when purchasing the ticket) Ticketing options for the Shinkansen 1.Online ticket purchase 2.To purchase tickets, go to the automated ticket vending machines at JR stations 3.To purchase tickets, go to the Ticket Office at the JR station where the Shinkansen is available I personally recommend beginners to purchase tickets at the Ticket Office, as it is a better option While purchasing tickets online or at the automated ticket vending machines at JR stations saves time and effort However, the process can be somewhat complex, and individuals without a good command of Japanese may find it more difficult to navigate Also, it is important to know the destination you are heading to in order to determine which train line to take It is important to do sufficient research in order to make the most of online ticket purchasing and using the automated ticket vending machines Ticket Office 1.You can easily purchase tickets here, and the service staff are available to assist you with any questions or concerns 2.Typically, the staff will ask you for necessary information such as the 'departure station' and 'arrival station,' 'reserved seat' or 'unreserved seat,' and 'window side' or 'aisle side.' Once both parties have no further questions, you can successfully purchase the ticket 3.If you don't understand Japanese, you can also show a notebook to the staff. (The prerequisite is that you have done your homework and written it in the notebook, preferably in Japanese, as the staff may not understand otherwise.) 4.You can try to communicate in English, and if you're lucky, you may encounter service staff who can speak English 5.You can bring a friend who knows Japanese to accompany you in purchasing tickets The above information is based on our own understanding and accumulated experience, shared with the hope of assisting those who are watching this video.
