pay a tribute to a great daughter of africa she was a respected leader a hard worker a great teacher indeed a fearless woman who was loved by the people of this country and above all she was a humble was so strong mao kulu magnum brought to a true reflection of what imba water is about that's why you are here not to mourn but she was here to celebrate the life of the daughter of africa see about kawaii luggage sierba [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] hers was a life of service it was a life of compassion her formidable will was matched by a keen political sense and a presence that inspired both all and admiration loudly and without apology she spoke truth to power yet through everything she endured veronica zane was born in the rural village of bakangato in babanango in the northern plaza natal on the 1st of february 1962. she was born to mrs francis and mr secretary and was the six of eight children she became politically conscious in her early school years she joined the ifp at a tender age of 13 in 1975. it was at this time that in ghana was formed as a cultural movement during the anc's banning her strong participation in party activities led to her being elected branch chairperson at her school in 1988 she joined the ifp's youth brigade executive committee after finishing school she went on to study teaching at the college of education towards a diploma in teaching while working she continued with her studies towards a bachelor of art in teaching from the university of sudan in australia as the country prepared for the first democratic local government elections in 1995 oligarchy was elected as an interim councillor in guanango a year later kamakwazum sibi was elected as deputy chairperson in the zulun regional council after making her way up the party's ranks she was elected as the ifp's national chairperson in 2007. one of her most notable positions was as the mayor of the zooland district municipality from 2000 until 2014. making her the longest serving mayor in the district up to date in 2011 announced the formation of her own party the national freedom party less than three months later the newly formed nfp contested its first election the local government elections the party managed to weigh 2.4 percent of the vaults giving in control of two castles and 224 council seats the party entered into former coalition with the anc and 19 councils after these elections wasn't simply abdicated her position as the zoolands district municipality mayor and moved to serve as a member of parliament in the national legislature on the 5th of june 2014 former president jacob zuma appointed her as the deputy minister of science and technology she continued to juggle both duties as party leader while serving in government at the general elections that followed in 2014 the party won over 1.5 percent of the popular ballot and obtained six seats in the national assembly after these elections he chose to step down from her duties to focus on strengthening her health and spending more time with her children and grandchild as the roles of mother and grandmother were her favorite kamakua has been described as a politically astute leader whose personality and charisma touched many she was incredibly hard-working and wise beyond comprehension her kindness was out of this world and she served people with her heart an attribute not shared by many leaders was truly the cream of the crop just as we are burdened by the sorrow of her death so too are we comforted by the richness and profound meaning of her life she leaves behind her husband two children and [Music] i feel blessed i feel excited i feel gratified that indeed i have cast my vote [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] good [Music] indeed she was the think obituary is it a millionaire a brilliant moment um my mother did not pick my mother did not choose who to work for and today her work speaks for itself my mother is the strongest woman and one of the strongest politicians in south africa today we thank the premier uh an honor of the state funeral and she is well deserving of it she is well deserving of it the whole of south africa the nfp on ghana [Applause] [Music] can i say i want to thank profusely the family ever smell um say and we did it oh my goodness we did it we honored you then it was the greatest honor to be um it was the greatest honor to serve you taught us so quickly and why but i said to you to i will still want to serve you for many more years nobody was the greatest honor and i'll continue to serve you i'll eulogy our premier is a young dynamic and energetic leader we have served this country with distinction he is the co-chair of quake island growth coalition he became a political activist at a very young age and fought for the liberation of this country he is one of the young people whose vibrancy ushered in this democratic government in 1994 as a result of his passion for community development he was identified by the community and eventually deployed as a counselor in the late 90s under the inductor local municipality he became the youngest counselor in the whole country he is one of the bravest activists who campaigned for free political activities in android during the difficult times of political violence working with from former president mandela and babungamalala and babuta wompeg and many other leaders ahead of general elections in 2004 he worked very closely with president peggy and his office ensured that his historic visit that we sold to a violent revelation we're doing he worked closely with mama usa lemak was on the city for a very long time he has hosted president of the republic of south africa his excellency president ramaphosa as part of the efforts to make sure that he sustained a positive trajectory for this province economically let us foreign thanks can we be thank you can we be seated for public work and human supplement and the champion to written by maya angelou we say phenomenal women and i quote now you understand just why my head not bow i don't shout no jump about that or have to talk loud it is the click of my heels the band of my hairs the palm of my head the need for care because i am a woman phenomenally phenomenal woman that's me close quote today i say that phenomenal woman is umami we say farewell to you our sister our
