hello I'm here with Hank green el Mills Matt gray looks area Roley hello Tom Scott dr. styler page dr. Sally lip doctor doctor your doctor I have a doctor this is the first doctor we've had not a useful doctor I would doctor of biology not medicine so do you all we're doing today no I'm not no no I'm you know you don't don't worry you very vaguely said I'm gonna be doing science II things you already be doing some science if I'm ready first thing I want you to do is to close your eyes okay okay now I want you to picture a ball on a table now push the ball off of the table now open your eyes what color was the ball the ball was sort of shiny silver it was silver blue it was white uh-huh with like a brown interior white red red with like white lines red red my ball was the Pixar Lego ball like the star and the yellow and the blue I don't think we could I think that's copyrighted it was the ball from like it was a stun on that Pixar using some of the things like with the the colors round in the star this is the second picture of all we've had okay everyone okay and what was the table made up yeah what kind of wood what material I guess kind of varnished I I can't identify different types of wood okay right I was varnish wood brown my table was made out of words would like it would brown oki woods oh it was like mahogany wood very fancy great like the kind of you know like the plastic like it's not really word it's like the plastic laminate metal metal it was like one of those school tables like a glass top with a black legs it was just black I'm not sure I visualized the video you didn't visualize the material okay that's good that's fine if you don't just a black surface just a black surface interesting okay great now I need to close your eyes again okay a picture a red five-point star yeah you got that now open your eyes which number does it look like six six six six it's odd because it's a combination of one and six and I involution of one into it I know in my head that it's six but I can't actually see it number six number six okay people home number six six number six so it's really vivid really vivid yeah well I mean it's more like that one number six yeah but a picture like a Christmas ornament so it was sort of stitched like like felt what's your thing in it but it was very clear yeah I can see it when you close your eyes yeah number six number six you know what we're doing here today tom uh probably is it about mm-hmm are you Fantasia it I nearly came up with pro fog nose here which is face blindness it's not the same thing but similar actually a little bit related you know a Fantasia is uh not having a mind eye it's when you cannot picture an image in your mind it's to do with how much you visualize in your head right that is what yeah whether you actually see things exactly I know about this because I did a zine you know dizziness you're young that was based on the joke a guy walks into a bar and different people picture different bars turns out when you tell them that joke and I just sort of like not realize but I have a picture of what my bar is but some people don't picture a bar they sort of like conceptualize it and so they wrote back to me when I talked about this is zine ID and they were like I have a Fantasia so I don't have a bar well that's me yeah I don't actually picture a bar yeah I have a very specific Bart badly what Bart is it's one that I'm yeah just sort of like I've been picturing it ever since I was a child because a lot of people picture Moe's from The Simpsons because that's the first bar that they were ever exposed to yeah that is the first bar that I've ever seen yeah I was wondering about it so when people do those really like here's how you remember things like imagine a house a room in your house and go through are you literally like what are you talking I thought that was ridiculous you know you know Sherlock's mind powers how can you old or how can you think about all of the places in your head that's hard to remember like I was thinking about the facts that actually like depending on how people's brains work a load of the stuff that we teach in schools or the way that we teach like these abilities it's actually a massively affects people absolutely to the point where it's like oh you're gonna do an in cut you your entire teaching method of trying to get people prepared to these exams that can affect the rest of them is actually gonna be completely ineffective to a whole portion of your classroom people who clearly think that there's something very wrong with like what I can't do this I've got it's like using color coding for people that are colour-blind yeah they're just not gonna get you and they won't know okay well I've got one last question guys all right do you have an internal monologue yeah so no I don't yeah I think so uh I do and I don't I do sometimes and I don't sometimes I do it both ways yes I do you do sometimes it's external uh-huh and it talks significantly more quickly than I do sometimes but not all the time I think things to myself but they're not necessarily incoherent sentences I see I sometimes imagine other people saying things because you know I'm a youtuber I'm always constantly in fear of what other people are saying about me and aware of being judged so I imagine other people judging me and what they would be saying but I don't have like well I'm thinking through a problem I don't think through it in the full sentences I also worry previously that I only have an internal monologue or I'm only conscious when I'm thinking about that because obviously as soon as it drops out my attention yeah okay it's just it's just not there yeah yeah do you have an inner monologue what does that mean do you have do you think in words you have words running through your head oh yeah I guess okay now what are you thinking right now you don't know no no no okay well thank you very much well so it's saying look there's a reflection in the window right now and there's someone over there talking wonder what they're talking about this is a very exciting like it's literally running okay what I realized because them I've never thought about it before until people started talking about it online and what I realized was that I when I don't have a thought like if I'm just walking somewhere I have songs constantly playing in my head you got you got songs on you got a little play yeah always like a little playlist and what's very annoying is now that I've started to look at like watch tick-tock a lot of the songs are not full songs they're just like 15 feet from tick-tock which is very annoying what are you thinking right now it's it's panicking so it doesn't know what to say it was like I don't know what to say say something okay well what is it saying right now um it's it's giving me all the words that it my internal monologue is not happening because I'm having an external monologue someone I know who writes he's a writer he doesn't write dirty write writing righty-right does beautiful writing at the writing hand and they found out that they didn't have this ability to to see things in that within their minds eye and it wasn't until I then knowing that went back and looked at their writing I was like oh actually yeah you you spent so little time on describing the visuals of this place that's the only way it isn't just multifunction but I really like that style of getting straight to the point and their stuff was a lot more about in a monologues and processes and all that stuff because that was obviously the way that she experienced the world but it wasn't entire that actually the way that you produce like writing and art and the way that you kind of think about things creatively is gonna be completely dependent on the way which you're black in a mine that's so true yeah and the thing is we don't know we won't know the difference between each other because we don't know anyone else I think what this whole like everyone could see read differently thing all the time bothers me nothing yeah genuinely unlike this is very stressful to me that everyone could be seeing like we just all know it's red because everyone has pointed that that before and says that is what red looks like and obviously apart from people have kind of colorblindness and have the kind of things when the hunters look fakie the same if your can distinctly see the different colors I don't know yeah I'm just like I just can't I'm just like this is too you know what very stressful let me just not think about it let me just go into the world of tick tock tunes and just like think about the things I've said great thank you very much you
