today is an exciting day and I'm going to tell you why but first a story two years ago I came multimedia got into the amp modeling game with the tonx software this software allows you to capture any amplifier that is at your fingertips with excellent accuracy without requiring any sort of external hardware to do so you also don't need any sort of external hardware to use those captures you can use it right in your computer or right in your dah and with the TX software they launched tet which is a US Marketplace that allows people to freely share their tone models with the world and then just a few months later they stepped it up a notch by releasing the tonx pedal this allows you to take the tone models that you have either created yourself or downloaded from other users on tonet anywhere you want it also has midi capability multiple routing options a headphone out built-in Noise Gate and effects and all sorts of other features built in to allow you to do pretty much anything you can conceive of with your tone models but today they're one uping their oneup by releas ing the tx1 and we're going to check it out let's do [Music] [Music] it all right guys hope you're doing great out there today if this is your first time here at my channel my name is Kyle what I do is I take all sorts of awesome High Gain related guitar equipment I record it with a simple setup and I give you the unprocessed audio on your end and today we are going to check out the all neww tx1 pedal from ik multimedia look at it it's so cute so what can this tiny little guy do that's what she said the tx1 pedal initially when I took a look at it I'm like what really could they possibly pack into such a tiny pedal with so few controls way way more than I can wrap my piz brain around this thing actually has all sorts of awesome functionality and I think that people are really really going to dig this thing for a number of different reasons but real quick before we get started with this this is a sponsored video TX have provided the TX one pedal for me to share with you guys here on the channel and they are also paying me to do so so feel free to take everything that I have to say with a grain of salt you are more than fair to do so but just remember I'm going to give you my honest thoughts and opinions as I always do keep that in mind so what can be accomplished in such a small package you say it's going to be really hard for me to not set myself up for that's what she said jokes for this entire video but this little guy can store 20 t model presets and you can also flip back and forth between two different presets using the foot switch in the Dual preset mode or you can switch it over to the stomp mode and essentially load different pedal tone models onto this thing such as like a different Tube Screamer uh different overdrives fuzz pedals distortion pedals and you can use it in front of an amp or in front of the tonx pedal on top of that there are built-in effects such as Reverb and compression you get a three Pand EQ you get a global volume you get a built-in Noise Gate gate this also has a stereo TRS out so you can not only foot this foot you can not only put this in front of an amp or your toex pedal or whatever else you want you can also stick it directly into a PA you can put it directly into your recording interface or you can listen to it with headphones there's also a global cabinet bypass on here so any of your tone models you can bypass the cabinet and you can use it directly into something with a power amp and into a real cab if you so desire which is generally how I would use it and it also has a USB input so you can hook this directly into your computer and control it with the TX software this pedal comes in at $179 it is available today and we're going to dive into it right now I'm going to jump over on the computer we're going to check it out using the TX software and then we're going to put this into a power amp into a real cab and see how it hangs with the big boys let's do it all right guys so we are over at my computer we have the tx1 pedal hooked up to the computer and we've also got the TX software open as you guys can see here and we're going to start diving into the functionality of this pedal one thing I did forget to mention in my intro of this video you get the tonex SE software with this pedal and that is the software that you need in order to be able to capture your own tone models normally that software is 150 bucks just by itself so the fact that the pedal is $180 it's essentially like you're getting the software and then you're getting the pedal for $30 in order to pack all this stuff in here and take it and actually use it outside of the computer so it's almost kind of a a no-brainer at that point if you don't already own the TX software and you've been looking to get into it so with that said as you can see we've got the tonx software up here one of the cool things about this pedal is when it is connected and you are in the librarian mode of the tonx software you can not only control it with the pedal itself meaning whatever controls whatever we do here on the pedal is reflected in the Tex software but vice versa if you want to change stuff within the software it's automatically going to take place on the pedal as well so if you feel a little bit more comfortable using the pedal in order to control it you can do that vice versa with a PC or Mac or potato I love potatoes all right so first things first switching between our presets we are in the Dual preset mode all you got to do hit this foot switch hit our foot switch and go into our second [Music] preset and as you can see us changing our presets is reflected in the tone next software when we hit that button it automatically highlights one of the two presets in dual mode that we have and going back to the pedal itself if we want to adjust the EQ we've got a three band EQ in order to do [Music] that and we also have our alternate controls so we hit the alternate button that takes us into the alternate controls and we can control the Noise Gate we can add compression if we'd like to or we can add some Reverb but we don't use compression or Reverb because we don't play weak music so the only thing we really need is the Noise Gate as you can see turn it down we start getting some noise coming through turn it up our noise has been gated so we hit that alt button and it takes us back into our primary EQ controls super cool this thing actually also has a tuner built in if you hold the foot switch and as you can see it lights up on the knobs and tells you whether you are Sharp flat or in tune now we're in tune and we just hit the foot switch to get out of there another nice feature this thing really going to be able to accomplish a lot in such a small package that's what she said so obviously this has dual preset mode which is what we're in now but if we want to switch over to stop mode in order to do that we are going to hold our alt button for 6 seconds and that is going to take us into the global settings mode and we've got a couple different options in global settings number one again that dual preset mode or if we turn it to the right that takes us to stomp mode and therefore whatever we have in our stomp mode is now [Music] active which just so happens to be an SLO sustain but we're going to change that later in the middle here we have a global cabinet control so right now it's green our cabinet is on but we can bypass the cab on every tone model whether it was captured with a cab or not and add our our own impulse response to it after the fact if we want in our Daw or we can use that setting in order to run it into an actual power ramp and into a cabinet therefore we don't have a cab coloring our signal if we don't need it and then finally our last control here is actually an input gain control so we can control the input level so if you're using something super hot like Fishman pickups you can actually turn it down so you don't clip the input of the device but as you can see we are using passive pickup so we can dial it and it lights up green to let you know that your input gain is good so that is the global mode on this thing in order to get out of there we just hit the foot switch again and it'll take us two stomp mode as you can see the pedal's off right now we kick it on and it kicks on whatever tone model that we have in our stomp mode but let's go back over to the Dual preset mode because there is stuff that I got to show you over there as well so we held for 6 seconds we turn this back and we are now back to dual preset mode if we hold that alt control for two seconds that actually puts us into safe mode meaning that no matter what we touch on the pedal as far as the controls here it's not going to change our settings so if we're playing live with this thing you have something set up the way that you want it to sound and you're worried that it's going to get bumped you can put it into safe mode and even though you're touching the controls it is not actually changing the settings of the pedal and it basically indicates that by the lights blinking letting you know it's in safe mode hold that again for a couple seconds it'll take it out of safe mode and we have our controls back so another really cool feature finally the most important feature is the browser mode CU you're probably wondering how the heck do you put 20 different presets on here and have the ability to flip through them with the controls the way that they are so if you hit the foot switch and and the alt button at the same time it takes you into the browser mode the first knob controls your first preset the second knob controls your second preset and the third knob controls your stomp preset for when you're in stomp mode and you can basically flip through all of your presets depending on what one you have selected and as you can see the software follows suit it follows whatever that you are doing at that moment so we changed our second preset over to my head first ala we hit the foot switch it takes us over to control the third preset we're going to change this to a ts8 we that way we can use the stomp to boost a high gain amplifier later so super cool and then finally we hit that button one last time and it takes us to our first preset so we'll change that first preset over to the Omega granier once you have figured out all the presets that you want you hit those buttons back together and you're back in dual preset mode so yeah that is how you are able to select 20 different presets with these very limited controls it's it really is super intuitive once you spend the time to learn it and the final question you probably have is how do you even know what preset is what well you get 20 different colors in order to assign to each individual preset therefore you can either memorize your presets buy the colors that you choose for them and the colors on the knobs will indicate which one you're on so that is your visual indication or you can just screenshot the order that you have them here on the software or write them down or something and just reference that for whenever you're switching through stuff but I find the color thing to be the most useful honestly so if we want to assign our head first Ulta to Green as you can see changes to Green on the pedal and then we now know Green is our Ulta preset finally how you are able to get your presets on and off of the unit itself here in the tonex software we're in the librarian section of the software and we have all of our tone models here on the left hand side we can scroll through every tone model that we've downloaded any of the tone models that we've purchased or any of the tone models that we've made ourselves so if I go to my tone models here are the tone models that I have created here on a list I can also go to tonet downloads and that'll show Taylor Danley stuff it'll also show the purchased models that we got from the Mesa Boogie reference pack that I demoed a few weeks ago when that that was released so when you purchase special tone model packs you can put those on the pedal just like you can anything else so I think that that's another great feature let's put 182 things on our pedal here where should we drop it we'll drop it towards the end here let's put it right here spot number 15 and then we can go into our browser mode and we can change our second preset over to that color which was [Music] teal back out of browser and now that's right there on the pedal at our [Music] [Applause] [Music] fingertip so yeah honestly guys when I looked over the manual at first I was like how the heck am I going to remember all this stuff it was a little bit overwhelming a little bit daunting because I am extremely add and I have a hard time focusing but once I actually sat down and started to go over the controls with the pedal in hand I actually realized how easy it is to remember all this stuff it's very intuitive and kind of once you have those initial control commands down they stick with you pretty easily because there really isn't anything crazy in order to get into the individual menus that you need to get into so I think they've done a really really good job designing this with a functional user interface and being able to pack so many different features into so few controls in a small form factor so really really cool but now it's time to use it in a more real world scenario we're going to take it over we're going to hook it up to a power amp or we're going to test the stomp mode and we are going to test the actual amp presets on here through a cab let's do it all right guys so we have the tx1 pedal hooked up to the tonx and both of those are going into my Blackstar amped one 100 wat pedal sized Power Amp that is powering the Mesa 412 traditional cab with the 1999 vintage 30s in it we've got the sm57 on the v30 going into my interface so at the moment we have one of my tone mod loaded up on the TX pedal got my angle Inferno blackout and we are essentially going to use this as our amp and we are going to use the tx1 pedal as a boost pedal to kick it in like an overdrive and get some more gain going I'm a weird [Applause] [Music] guy so that is the tone model without the tone X1 boost engage so let's engage that with our ts808 model [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] w [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] all right so as you guys can see it is working exactly like you would expect a boost or an overdrive a ts9 ts808 style overdrive to work in front of a high gain amplifier we are boosting our angle Inferno tone model and when we kick that in it's giving us more gain it's giving us more mids it's cutting those low frequencies and it's just overall tightening the signal up and making it sound more saturated everything you would expect when you throw a ts808 in front of a high gain amplifier our base middle and treble are actually still active on here so I was actually able to shape the voicing of the ts808 a little bit more than I normally would with you know a regular ts808 pedal because we have more tone controls and then this was our overall volume and gain combined into one control so we were able to really kind of control exactly how we wanted that boost to hit the front end of our tonx pedal or our amp tone model here so but now we're just going to go ahead and bypass the tone X pedal we're going to go over here and we're going to put the tone X1 pedal back into we're going to put it back into the Dual preset mode and we're actually going to test out some of our tone models just using the tone X1 pedal so let's put this back we're in global mode let's put it back into our dual preset mode all right so so we actually still have our cab active on all of our tun models so let's go back into global mode oops and let's bypass all the cabs on all of our tone models here all right so now that we have the cabs bypass let's hear how it sounds [Music] man I don't remember what tone model that is off the top of my head but it sounds really good actually let's go in let's adjust our Noise Gate hit the alternate control and let's turn up the threshold of that bad boy so that we get that noise out of here all right so that's good one thing that I to completely forgot to tell you guys in the intro when we were talking about all the controls is when we get into that alternate mode that actually controls or allows you to control the gain of the tone model that you're on with this knob so not only can we control the overall volume but one when we alter alternate mode we can control the gain all right that sounds good I don't know what tone model that is let's go to the secondary tone [Music] [Applause] [Applause] [Music] model all right so we have good control over each individual tone model let's go into the browser setting here and let's just start trying stuff man and let's start knocking lights over too that's [Music] [Music] [Applause] fun I can tell just by the voicing that's my rectifier captur because it sounds like a rectifier in the Vintage voicing sounds awesome all right so this is actually Taylor danley's uh vh140c tone model so let's actually I'm going to settle on this one [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right so that was Taylor danley's vh140c model and that's going to do it for me today on the tone X1 pedal guys this thing is a lot of fun all the features packed into this I honestly think the way that they have laid out the controls and everything so long as you have two hands and you're not leaning over trying to be in front of a camera it actually works pretty well it is very intuitive and I'm honestly really impressed at everything that they were able to put in here and make it actually usable and I'm sure the more that you use it the more you get get comfortable with all the different controls and stuff think they did a great job with it and I've been a huge fan of the TX software since it started especially with how good the tone models are when you're capturing your own stuff the ability to trade it on the ton net Marketplace and I can honestly say they keep improving the TX software it was a little cumbersome when it first started but using it just recently in order to check out the TX pedal with you guys I can honestly say they've made a lot of improvements and it's a lot easier to navigate so and this TX stuff just keeps getting more and more fun so with that said now it's your turn to tell me what you think of this pedal what you think of the functionality have you used tone X before if so what do you think do you enjoy the tone models that you've been able to create on your own do you enjoy trading stuff on the ton net Marketplace or do you hate all of it and you just wish that I would shut up whatever it is let me know Down Below in the comments of this video I really appreciate you guys hanging out and checking this out and again if you are a tonx user don't forget to go on tonet and search my name bowl and download all of my tone models and rate those bad boys let me know what you think about them I will be working on a couple of signature packs in collaboration with ik multimedia for tonx for their actual Marketplace here in the future so keep an eye out for that I'll be doing a video Once those bad boys launch and yeah it's going to do it again for me today guys thank you so much to ik multimedia for sponsoring this video and allowing me to share this with you guys here on the channel I'm going to get out of here hit that like button if you like the video subscribed if you're not already subscribed thanks so much much for watching Kyle here again my dogss are trying to kill somebody we'll see you next time hey you know what this wall is missing another amp there we go
