Sandy Koufax oh no I hit 175 off sandy close I wanna ask this cuz I'm gonna get it I'm gonna get weird on you okay he's the only athlete in my life I saw we'll play I saw ollie box the only athlete in my life that I never saw a play that I really wish I did was Sandy Koufax he was unbelievable okay now I want you to explain I'm driving around my car and I'm listening to Pete Rose on the radio you step into the batter's box against Sandy Koufax you're young you're 22 yeah take me to what it was like is you evidence I know you're thinking in your head right now you remember the a bats I got 10 457 off of me hit your calculator I asked 175 when you don't hit your weight off of a pitcher you're doing pretty bad okay and I weighed 202 and I played so I was hoping to hit 200 off Sandy Koufax I I couldn't hit hit listen he had a great fastball I can't do it all right here he goes he's moving to a melon on the set a great fastball right and he had a curve ball broke like that how the hell you gonna hit that curveball my first 3 years in the league he struck out over a thousand he got 382 in 1965 382 strikeouts it was as fast but with his fastball not just a rising fast bone that big curveball you don't know this but he went to the University of Cincinnati ballplayer yeah absolutely because he's got these real long fingers and he wrapped that curveball just be happy you didn't it to face Sandy Koufax did you strike out a few times probably probably you know I struck that off of nolan ryan i struck off struck out off a marichal gibson so Carlton Seaver all those Hall of Fame pitchers yeah but you hit a lot of them too who was the best pitcher that you had a 320 average against Warren Spahn he didn't pitch me didn't play against I got 17 for 32 off of him so what year did Warren Spahn I thought it'd be cold I'm not gonna lie to you 307 off Bob Gibson what about Don Sutton oh I wore his ass out oh man oh man I worked on two guys on the Dodgers I wore out Don Sutton and Bob Welsh oh I could have went up blindfold and got hits off those guys I mean really I mean Ray Charles got hit Don sighs what and Ray had a hard time seeing the ball there's no question I just have certain guys you just see the ball good and and they're breaking ball didn't bother you but I had good successful you know 307 on Bob Gibson yeah he was he was the most aggressive pitcher I ever faced yeah he was could be mean and I think the best picture I ever faced but I still had three four dolphin was Juan Marichal I mean Juan Marichal he had five pitches he'd throw for strikes at any given time he kicked that leg up like that and he's staying there Candlestick Park and he'd wait for the wind to blow were you better you know do like just at your eyes yeah you throw the ball yeah because it was terrible I mean Candlestick Park was terrible to play baseball in yeah and a clubhouse was all the way down the right-field line and we're on the third base side so consequently you don't go to the clubhouse during the game so if you get diarrhea you are in trouble we don't need to go there with the Energy's almost over
