Wrong Number Miracle - It's a Miracle - 6033

[Music] we've presented many stories of family members separated from one another who were miraculously reunited but none where the odds of this happening were as great as in our next story we tried to calculate those odds by taking all the telephone numbers in America and putting them together in every possible combination of two and frankly it would take me longer to read the answer than for you to watch this amazing story in June of 1999 after the sudden death of her husband Evelyn Trant contacted her friends and family with the news but there were two longtime friends she couldn't locate well I just happen to think we need to get in touch with Ronnie and Johnny cannot see you know they don't want to know I call them Evelyn's daughter-in-law Carol offered to help so we just call director assistance and I - if they had a number for a Godsey Ronnie or Johnny because I figured one could get ahold of the other do you have either one of them listed but there were no listings available for a Godsey with either first name oh well do you have anything with an R or a J or maybe a middle initial she explained to me that she had a million godsey's and that I couldn't just narrow it down by using somebody's in middle initial oh I said well pick somebody who looks related to him like she would know he was related to somebody okay well then can you get me two names please she gave me a David Godsey out of New Orleans and she gave me an Eric Godsey out of Lake Charles I guess assuming that we might find somebody related in a different area no not yet you try this person now Karen called the first number and reached David Godsey in Houma Louisiana my wife and I were watching TV and the phone rang and this lady told me she was looking for a Ronnie or a Johnny Godsey no I'm sorry I don't know anybody by the name but I can help you out he didn't know them but he was telling me how you look for somebody on the Internet yeah I've had a lot of practice he had lost track of his son and he'd been looking for his son for 26 or 27 years have you been looking for your son for 26 years Wow I'm very good on computers that's where I've been looking the internet lately when David was two his mother and I we just had some disagreements we just we couldn't live together anymore so we decided for the children best thing was be fresh separate and she moved back to California that I lost track once I lost track out and that was it David kept trying to find his missing son but a personal tragedy pushed him to step up the search I had an older son and he was killed in 1989 and that was a great loss to me and it made me want to find David even more so that's someone I really started looking harder for David but after several years it seemed like his son had vanished from the face of the earth it was heart-wrenching because you're going gosh you know here this guy is looking for somebody all this time and he wished me luck I wished him luck and got off the phone and decided to call the next person on the phone list which was Eric Godsey what if we go to the bill on Rouge and get some catfish we were just sitting there you're trying to figure out what to do and the phone rang my wife went in the hallway to talk to whoever was on the phone hello hello my name is Karen and I'm looking for either a rony aur jony Godsey no I'm sorry there's no one here by that name so I didn't get to hear too much of it but when she came back in the hallway what I heard her saying was to let me let you talk to my husband sure once I get yeah hello and she put her husband on the phone and he suggested that he didn't know his family he'd never known his father because they'd lost track whenever he was little I haven't seen my father since I was 2 years old and I don't know anyone on that side of my family when he was saying those things I just got chills it was kind of like whoa you know she said well you know I just got off the phone with a man that hadn't seen his son since he was 2 he said his name's David God see he explained to Karen that he had spent many years during his childhood searching for his father yes whenever I was younger and my mom we used to travel up to see my grandmother of enough New Hampshire where everywhere we stopped I always looked in the phone book to see if I could find any godsey's but he ended his search after receiving some devastating news back when I was about 16 years old there was a plane crash up in Washington state I believe that killed a bunch of military personnel they had printed the passenger list in the newspaper on the list there was a man named David Hill Godsey and that's my father's name David Louis Godsey and my mom had seen it and she had pointed it out to me and it just really was kind of heartbreaking you know what if I give you this person's phone number could you please call him and I'll give you my number and call me back I just have this strangest feeling I why why are you doing this with the alarm in the sons voice I was afraid that he would not call his father and we didn't want to lose this we felt like we had something and so Karen called David got see again only to receive some sobering you know no I'm sure that's not him I'm sure of it is his name is not Erik it's David Edmond and that's the listing that I had the phone number and it was in Eric Godsey the facts seemed to match that the names didn't the surprising conclusion when it's a miracle continues [Music] while trying to locate two friends of the family Karen trance was given the names of two men living in separate parts of Louisiana when she called them she discovered that each of them had also been searching for a long-lost relative a father for his son and a son for his father could these two random names be the start of a reunion Karen felt that the answer was yes but unfortunately the names didn't match no no I'm sure that's not him I'm sure of it his his name is not Erik it's David Edmond and maybe he decided to change his name maybe he didn't like Edmond I said I don't know if I'd like Edmond while they were talking the young man in Lake Charles gathered up his courage and called the number he had been given and I got an answering machine so I left a message yes I'm trying to reach a David Godsey this is concerning your son could you please return my call at that same moment Karen was busy convincing David to call the number in Lake Charles no I'm sure that's not him he said and his son didn't live in Louisiana because the last he knew his son was in California but he finally agreed to call well oh I'll try it you know since you've gone to the trouble and then would you call me back and let me know if it is him okay thanks a lot I appreciate it bye after I got off the phone with Karen I listened to his message so I called him up [Music] ah yes this is a David Godsey I received a message on my answering machine saying that you might have some information about my son yes sir yes sir well my son's name is David not Erik no no no no no my son's name is Erik I'm David where are you from I'm from California California that's what my son's from okay let me ask you a question do you have two sisters yes yes I do one named Wendy and one named Sandy yes he said well uh hello son this is your dad and we were both so we couldn't think of anything to say it was just wonderful I mean like it just filled something in my life you know knowing that I do have a dad and knowing that he wants to know me I know they're talking meanwhile Karen and her family were anxiously awaiting a news is it him yes I can't believe it [Music] we were yelling and it's the father is it's the son you know they're related and I was yelling the phone's listed in the grand child's name she was tickled to death that she had been a part of and being able to help bring two people back together after so many years and she says you know she's how I watch TV programs are seeing it on the news where people find a relative long-lost relative that lived 50 miles away from they never knew it she said but I never thought I'd be part of something like that I'm July 4th 1999 father and son were reunited for the first time in 26 years we just walked up toward each other and gave each other a big old hug one of the amazing things about it was it I was dressed in a checkered shirt with jeans and cowboy boots he was wearing almost exact same thing and we didn't know what we were going to be wearing and he looks so much like me [Music] while David and his father continue to spend every available moment together that they can neither of them had ever met the woman who had brought them together and so it's a miracle arranged for them to finally meet it's just a miracle that we were brought together we may have not ever found each other if it hadn't been for Karen Turing they keep telling me thank you and I'm going I didn't do it I could not have done this intentionally obviously I couldn't find Ronny and Johnny [Laughter] everybody has their job and you go through your daily life and you don't know that you affect other people but you affect other people every day okay well then can you get me two names please the operator she'll never know that she got a father and son that had been looking for each other she'll never know that that wasn't just an every day in the life of an operator one more phone number that she gave out no I'm sorry I don't know anybody about the name but I can help you out I've been looking for my son for 26 years to me it is a miracle because you couldn't do it on purpose we couldn't have made the connection it had to have had a bigger hand I think I just made a connection the operator gave me two phone numbers Jerry was a godsend he goes to be a reason for her called me and for her call David and for us to get together like we did [Music] I don't know how to say yeah that it wasn't miracle that's it's all the thing I can come up with to say [Music] Turin Trent brought together more than just a father and son she helped to reunite an entire family and they join us now from Lake Charles Louisiana hey everybody welcome to the show I see you got some little ones with you this evening would you like to introduce them to us okay these are my new grandsons this is Devin and this is Eric and let's see Eric is six and Devin is five for you still for three more days happy birthday Devin I also want to welcome David juniors wife Crystal howhow is this reunion changed your life it affected me deeply because along with my husband I had wanted him to meet his dad and we were I don't know if dave has said this before but we were about to go out and he just kept saying let's just sit here let's just sit here for some reason he was just procrastinating on on leaving and that's when the phone call came through and that is a miracle that Karen had called and caught us home at that point in time or this would have never happened David senior how do you feel with all this new family sitting around you well I find it hard to express the words how happy I am but when when you asked what the miracle is the miracles is sitting right here on either side of me and and behind me and [Music] again all I can say is the the one had lit this miracle happen was guaranteeing it well it seems it turns made you all very happy and we're gonna be spend a lot more happy days together well I'm sure you will and I want to thank you for spending this time with us cuz sure made me happy
