[Music] hi my name is giorgi petrov and i'm co-founder and ceo of the opx today i'll share with you one of our secrets why we consistently win almost all independent speed tests and why we are often called the world's fastest wordpress hosting but first let's talk about something else what a cdn means and why do you need one as we mentioned last time we are starting wpx academy as a series of short videos where you see terry kyle my business partner and the other co-founder of wpx and me sharing our own ideas and know-how on many topics connected with the modern digital ways of being an entrepreneur we will also give you many simple advices on how you can make your own online business a bit better you'll reach a bit longer and your website a bit more effective if you wish to be notified when a new episode comes out click like and subscribe below alright let's start what a cdn means is it a cookie domain name or cake domain name no it actually stands for content delivery network and what is a content delivery network then it is a geographically distributed group of servers which work together to provide fast delivery of internet content or long story short it is a lot of servers around the globe that deliver your website you might ask okay how is that any different from a normal hosting well a normal hosting usually uses only one server your whole website is located there one single location the database behind your website the scripts of your website photos style sheets files for download even the emails everything is located on one single server reasons well it's easier and cheaper but what about speed then well imagine having to order a website from others the other side of the planet your browser needs to get all the information from a server located 10 or maybe 20 000 kilometers away from you and even if your internet connection is fast when welding local files there are still delays a single message will take 120 milliseconds to travel between europe and america you need this multiple times in order to fully wall the website and the result slow page warning times sometimes two or even three seconds can be added to voting time not great how this will be different if you're using a cdn then your browser will be loading the content or most of it from a local server located very close to you maybe 1 000 kilometers away maybe a bit more but definitely not from the other side of the planet because the cdn network covers the whole globe do you need a cdn i think yes in almost all cases except maybe one if you're only targeting your website at a local audience located in like one city or maybe one country in this case you can afford to have one single server your main costing location at that place and that's it not use cdn but if you're looking for a global audience which i think is the most cases because basically this is the purpose of internet you definitely need cdn which will cover all countries even the ones that are at the other side of the globe how a cdn will help you then well the cdn will make your website really really quick from everywhere around the globe and not just from a single location how to choose a cdn and which which cdn is better than the others things can make a cdn better but i think the main one is probably the number of the cdn endpoints which is basically the number of the servers around the globe and a relatively even distribution in all continents second thing which makes the cdn better is additional options like for example the ability to cache html or some a bit more tighter integration with the main server because you know wordpress is allowing very advanced caching but this only works if the cdn network is really well tuned with your main server so let's go back to the main question what is our secret why we win speed tests and why we often refer to the world's fastest wordpress hosting well our secret is called xdxdn it's a cdn with a little bit more extended features but the main thing you need to know is that this comes preset with our hosting and you don't need to set it up which sometimes with external cdn networks is really a lot of hassle and work so our secret of being so quick is that we basically tied up a really extended and advanced cdn with our main hosting locations which are already three around the world chicago london and sydney but we extended that with another 30 cdn locations around the globe covering pretty much everything so this is why when you have a hosting account with us you're pretty much ready to cover the whole globe with a really quick website and i'm happy to announce that two months ago we switched to a new version of the xdn which we are currently testing and improving it's already there it's fully working not all features though are revealed but stay tuned we'll we'll do that very very soon with you thank you so much see you next time and don't forget to click like and subscribe in order to see our next updates [Music]
