how do you ever work 24 hours straight yes sir you can call me Andrew don't call me sir okay hi I'm Andrew Knowlton the deputy editor Bon Appetit and I'm about to work a 24-hour shift at the dwarf House chick-fil-a in hate-filled Georgia I always forget none of these places will let you have a beard that's a good thing they don't have a chick-fil-a in Brooklyn there's no way they can get all these people to shave 15 seconds 15 seconds yeah warm water probably the cleanest I've ever been probably this is what I was looking forward to I think the most this is the heart this is the core of the chick-fil-a experience you just want to break the tendons spread it out as much as you can take a buddy in you dip it in the milk wash spread it out on the phone flip around maybe once or twice you get the most pressure out of it when you get on your tiptoes sit okay yes looks good all right is chick-fil-a the first place to put a fried chicken breast between two pieces of bread as far as we know true it want to be I'll sell chicken but it was taken to long trip found that pressure fryer figured out the peanut oil deal got a spices right news able to actually turn the sandwiches quick enough to keep up with demand ladies on two legs on nine who put the two pickles on the chicken sandwich that's just favorite thing screw it love pickles it's my first chicken tuna today and first chicken sandwich I've ever made damn good when I go home I'm gonna smell like chick-fil-a other people with mallet first oh no no no they're right okay you'll get a whole bunch of playing that chick flick from sandwiches chicken nugget waffle fries fruit fry you can get eggs over easy viii of remedial pancakes waffles only yeah this is gonna be a big learning curve for me right now just to tell you that right now I think we have a lot of work so truck came bass get it out now when you say overwhelmed is that pretty a solid yoke or you all yo huh okay cool nice so I need to wash down again yes sir your stickler with this we're going to be making making biscuits from scratch I'm gonna make 1672 biscuits hold that first oh shoot you're scaring your skin you in the book we'll see I don't know I'm getting a job all right so miss Jackie you've been here the dwarf house chick-fil-a for how long what about you 25 years you do one thing here and what is that make that and what are we making right now little meringue LEM ring washing hand wash hands mm-hmm in the history of this work house how many people have made us green so I'm actually the fourth person to make pies yes you are all right you ready one two three go I'm kidding I'm kidding you oh losing I know a little bit more now with this so hard Andrew I know I know I can't sell that one I can say it was incredible pretty happy right now done with my first shift but I think that that was kind of the easy part and the hard part is gonna come I mean this is so much more busy than my past experiences working 24 hours so I'm a little bit nervous yeah that's on Mike Veronica let's just say my pleasure not your well I don't like yeah what did you have a hook right here okay my pleasure I'm so I get I'm gonna go ahead and show you how to use the POS yeah whenever I have a guest I say hey how are you doing we want to create our contacts yeah definitely we want to share a smile okay we also want to stay mostly connected okay did you want the 406 count nugget 6 count nugget all right not right live a little so number for meals with cookies and cream large shapes with no whipped cream extra pickles what oh yeah that's web count Megan milk ketchup thank you very much my pleasure don't forget bad out front this train tracks right and literally they still do it the trains will pull up the guys will jump off eat all the food for the workers on the train jump back on the train be go how long have you worked at chick-fil-a five years five years so you do this every night for five or six days a week yeah three quarters of the way through I'm feeling okay like you would expect somebody who's worked 18 hours at the chick-fil-a feel it here feel it my thighs but I know from experience the next six hours are what can make and break this things around 3:00 a.m. time slows down hey Andrew let me get a chicken sandwich here's your sandwich Andrew thanks Andrew my pleasure your pleasure I survived I just work 24 hours straight at the chick-fil-a things got a little bit weird but I had a lot of fun I'll walk away here with two things the amazing people who are passionate about what they do thank you so much okay put it on and also just like any kind of amazing fancy restaurant in New York City everything here is made from scratch I don't think I'll ever forget my time here my pleasure
