carries my healing in his end jesus there is a day i call in times of trouble there is a song that comforts in the night there is a voice that calms the storm that rages [Music] [Music] he carries my beside me [Music] you speak to the sea [Applause] [Music] you carry my healing in your head [Music] [Music] jesus [Music] jesus we thank you that there is no name that is above your name there is no power above your power there is no might above your might there is no love greater than your love holy spirit would you settle down here among us your daughters tonight would you minister to our wounded broken dry parched souls would you minister life in your name in the name of jesus father i thank you for a night to come to worship you father there is resurrection power in our worship and father we thank you thank you for that we bless you holy one of israel we worship you with all of our hearts soul mind and strength oh father made the sound of heaven be heard in this place tonight in the name of your son jesus we pray amen wow what a great way for us to begin our women's night of worship and would you help me welcome charlotte guffin who's here to lead us tonight charlotte thank you so much we have wanted to have charlotte here for a night like tonight for a long time so thank you so much for fitting us in your schedule we're thrilled to have you you know for the last 15 days we've been celebrating all that god has done at bellevue over the last 15 years since steve and donna came and donna on behalf of all the women at bellevue i want to tell you how much we love you [Applause] and we want to thank you we want to thank you for loving us and for leading us to become disciples of christ who are grounded in the word of god and who are actively impacting the world for his kingdom you've always always pointed us away from everyone and everything else to jesus and so that's what we're going to do tonight everything we do tonight is about jesus we have gathered here tonight to worship the goodness of god you know when i think of all that god has done over the last 15 years and in particular over the past several months that is the one phrase that keeps coming to mind the goodness of god in psalm 27 13 david said i would have despaired unless i had believed that i would see the goodness of the lord in the land of the living when david wrote psalm 27 he was in a hard season of life and you know he didn't say he would have despaired if god had not gotten him out of the situation he was in no he said he would have despaired if he had not believed he would see the goodness of god in the situation that god had him in david's focus was not on what seemed good to him david's focus was on the character of god his goodness and tonight i want to share two principles to help us believe that we will see the goodness of god in the land of the living and the first is simply this god is good what do i mean by god is good the bible defines the goodness of god in two ways his character and his actions psalm 119 68 captures both when it says you are good and you do good good god is the standard for good and good is what god does he is good in every possible way in exodus 33 when moses pleads with god please show me your glory what he's asking god is to see god for who he really is so what does god do god says to moses there in exodus 33 19 i myself i myself will make all my goodness pass before you god's glory is his goodness when we hear those words to be honest our hearts should be full of all and gratitude but are they have we lost the wonderment of god's goodness the way you answer that question depends upon whether or not you believe the second principle i want to share with you which is this god is good to me did you hear what i said i didn't say god is good to us i said god it's good to me believing in the goodness of god is more than a theological declaration it is a personal confession romans 8 28 is a familiar verse it's a life anchoring verse you know how it goes and we know that god calls us all things to work together for good to those who love god now too often we stop right there in the verse and we don't finish it out and when we do that we take the verse out of context and we miss the crux of paul's message the entire verse says this and we know that god calls us all things to work together for good to those who love god to those who were called according to his purpose and what is his purpose verse 29 tells us his purpose is for us to be conformed to the image of his son what paul is saying here is that all the things in your story not just the nice things not just some things but the hard things the painful things the tough things all the things in your story are being used by god for his purpose to conform you to the image of his son believing that god is fulfilling his purpose in your life is what it means to see the goodness of god in the land of the living do you believe that god is fulfilling his purpose in your life can you say god is good and god is good to me i know for some of you here tonight to be able to say that would take a real step of faith because you came in here tonight with a burden you're in a hard place you're going through a storm life is hard and you came in here tonight hurting you know what kept david do you remember what we said early on kept david from despair he believed he had faith that he would see the goodness of god in the land of the living i firmly firmly believe that making a verbal declaration of what we believe emboldens our faith so can we do that now will you repeat after me god is good god is good to me tonight let's praise him let's thank him as if he had just walked into the room because he has he is here his presence is with us let's worship him in one accord let's worship him in spirit and in truth he is in this room [Music] never fails me for my days i've been held in your hands from the moment [Music] of the goodness of god all my [Music] all my life you have been so good [Music] i love your horse [Music] you have led me through the fire in darkest nights you are close like no [Music] [Music] in the goodness [Music] [Music] oh i will of the goodness [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Applause] [Music] [Applause] now i give you everything [Music] [Music] of the goodness [Music] [Applause] [Music] with every breath of the goodness of god [Music] [Applause] [Music] and we praise you [Music] so good to go [Music] hallelujah [Music] god [Music] you're so good [Music] you're so good jesus you are good god you're so good [Music] you're so good [Music] too [Applause] i would have despaired if i had not believed that i would see the goodness of the lord in the land of the living beloved you may be seated my name is gene stockdale and i just want to share with you how psalm 27 became a lifeline to craig and i during a difficult time in our lives in 2010 our family business failed and plunged craig and i unexpectedly into bankruptcy my husband had had that business for years and it has supported us well my husband and i and both of our little guys as we raised them up working in that business and yet suddenly and during 2010 there was just a downturn in the economy and it began to incredibly in affect our business and in a very short order a series of events happened that plunged us in to bankruptcy craig and i lived on 10 acres out in fayette county and he had built his business there we had greenhouses 15 greenhouses and acres of plants on that property he'd built a shop in his office and our boys had grown up working with him in the business and yet suddenly we found ourselves in such a difficult place and beloved we asked the lord would he rescue us would he bring some source of income to us would he send a big job and would he do something to pull us out of that miri pit and when he did not respond to the cries of his children we began to believe that god had something bigger and grander than we could have ever dreamed in our lives and so we began to the process of what we did not lose we liquidated we lost our home we lost our business the 10 acres we lived on we had a farm out in mississippi a 60-acre tree farm we lost that as well we lost everything and we began our lives over and i've just got to tell you while there were troubling and very difficult days i don't want to minimize what we walk through i'm telling you there were some tough days there were days when i would tell mr stockdale i am taken to my bed that's all i can do i can't deal with this any longer but craig and i begin to sense the goodness of god in the land of the living we began to see him move and operate in ways we had never known him before in kindness and mercy my mom and dad had bought property out in williston tennessee south of somerville they bought it in the late 70s they intended to retire and build a home out there but as my dad came close to retirement he began to have health problems and so he passed away and where they were never able to fulfill that but sometime during the 80s my dad decided to build a one-car garage on that property with an attached workshop and when craig and i were beginning to ask the lord where will we go where can we go we approached my mom and asked her my dad was home with the lord at this point we asked her could we rent that little place and my mother said absolutely not you can have it do whatever you can to it to make it into a house but i've got to tell you it had a concrete floor no kitchen no closet no laundry hookups it was a one car garage with a little attached workshop my dad had run power to it and he'd put in a little bathroom and i say little i got to tell you it's the smallest bathroom i've ever seen it had a shower so small that you had to decide which side you were going to wash before you stepped in i'm telling you you could not turn around in that bathtub or in that shower rather and yet craig and i with happy hearts moved out to our little garage and we began making plans for what god had for us next i've got to say that the lord sustained us and in that time beloved he raised up the body of christ to love on us in unprecedented ways countless prayers were lifted before the throne words of encouragement cards and notes flooded in to our hearts and into our lives and not only that there were many that god touched their heart to help us financially to begin to turn that little one car garage into what we now affectionately call the cottage of grace there were countless hours volunteer hours contractors showed up electricians plumbers things were gifted to us a custom kitchen appliances light fixtures a roof a front porch a back porch and even a little carport and suddenly that began rather slowly that little garage began to be turned into a home and not only that god did an incredible thing for craig and i he put us into this whole new ministry where we could serve the lord together teaching the word of god and traveling together here and internationally to teach pastors and church leaders something that we could have never done never done in that season before the bankruptcy i'm here to testify our god is a good god every good and perfect gift comes down from the father of life i'm telling you i would have despaired and yet i believed i would see the goodness of god in the land of the living beloved god is good he is a good good father and like dana i know some of you are here and you have broken hearts and my word to you tonight is beloved lift up your eyes fix them firmly upon the lord jesus christ he is he is the giver of good gifts and he is sovereignly and providentially in control even when circumstances seem to testify otherwise god is good god is good god is good all the time amen god is good all the time and god is good amen and amen [Music] [Music] praise through the darkness night his light will shine god is good yes god is good all [Music] god is good all the time through the darkest night his life will shine god is good god is good all the time do not fear he will he guide you you safe and sound he has promised to never leave you nor forsake you and his word is good all the time he put us on a phrase in this heart of mind god is good all the time through the darkness his life will shine god is good god is good all the time [Music] that is everlasting in his mercies all the time he put a song of praise in this heart of mind god is good all the time [Applause] [Music] your name in the land that is plentiful where your streams of abundance flow blessed be your name let's say it be your name when i'm found in the desert place though i walk through the wilderness bless it bless it blessed be oh every blessing you pour out i'll turn back to praise and when the darkness closes in lord still i will say blessed be the name of the lord bless it be your name bless it be the name let it be your glorious name let it be your name when the sun shining down on me when the world is all as it should be less it feels but there's another side let's say you're never gonna [Music] you're never gonna let me down when the night is holding on to me god is holding on when the night is holding on to me god is holding on [Applause] and this is my precious husband mike golding and i have asked him to say a prayer for us before i share a brief testimony of our journey over the last 18 months heaven well good lord you're good to us i'm just amazed that our you're good for us too and lord i prayed with words of mouth and medicine of our heart be inceptible and surely goodness and mercy so i would love me all the days of my life thank you baby thank you sweetheart our journey which we call for god's glory began in february of 2019 mike and i walked most mornings using this time to pray together i noticed he was limping so i asked him about it he said he didn't know what was going on but he noticed he was slurring some of his words too i told him he had to go to the doctor before we went on our anniversary trip to europe the very next month so he did and they sent him to the er where they discovered a mass in his brain we scheduled several appointments with doctors and specialists to see what our options were with the encouragement of the doctors we did go on and go on our anniversary trip we had a great time and we made some really sweet memories when we returned mike had the biopsy done and we found out he had an inoperable stage four glioblastoma brain tumor with a life expectancy of two years with treatment and only a few months without treatment so we started chemo and radiation right away this was a very sad and difficult time for our family but god and his goodness and foreknowledge had given us a huge distraction our oldest daughter was getting married in our backyard in may there was lots of work to do our precious life group along with many amazing people came to our aid and worked on our house and made our yard look amazing oh my god mike was using a cane most of the time at this point and his prayer was that he'd be able to walk his daughter down the aisle again god is good he not only walked her down the aisle he even danced at the reception after treatment was completed mike was losing the use of his whole right side speech was difficult and walking a challenge they did another mri and discovered that the tumor was growing rapidly and he they told us he only had six to nine months to live so we looked into some different treatments and we're going to duke to see if he qualified for a trial that they had but in july of 2019 mike had a seizure and was hospitalized they told us the tumor was continuing to grow and he would most likely only have about six to nine weeks to live because of the medications they had to use to save his life and the rate the tumor was growing he was no longer a candidate for any more trials or treatments so we did the best thing we knew we continued to pray and ask others to join us in praying for healing and then in just 10 short weeks later our whole family took a trip to the beach we had an incredible time together and the following months we celebrated birthdays holidays and in january 2020 all 20 of us went to disney we rode rides and we ate lots of food and we just had a blast together god has been so good and we have seen many many miracles along the way including the actual birth of one of our grandsons one of our grandsons being saved and baptized a new granddaughter born in july of 2020 and another one coming next month making 12 wonderful grandchildren we've experienced some amazing and sweet times together as a family some are happy and fun some not so happy and fun but each of them has not come our way but that it has not passed through the hands of god first isaiah 41 10 says fear not for i am with you be not dismayed for i am your god i will strengthen you i will help you and i will uphold you with my righteous right hand god knows everything we're going through he knows all he sees all he loves us so much that he sent his son to die for us we cannot think that when bad things happen god doesn't love us he does he just sees the big picture and if we will trust him and lean on him and walk with him praise him and rejoice in him he is enough he is god is so good years ago god gave me these verses as my life verses because he knew that i would be in this difficult place and not know what to do so i just repeat these verses often and they remind me what i can do first thessalonians 5 16-18 says rejoice always pray continually and give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of god in christ jesus for you in closing i want to thank you for your continued prayers for my canaa and for our journey for god's glory thank you [Music] [Applause] [Music] for the answers and all my questions become clear and for that sacred moonlight no doubts can interfere [Applause] [Music] god [Music] peace [Music] through his love the lord place for us to rest [Music] a place to find an answer [Music] there's never any reason [Music] just slip away and breathe he will surely meet you then [Applause] [Music] god [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] it's only in the present [Music] of the [Music] kings as the deer painted for the water so much longer after [Music] you [Music] you [Music] you know i have had the privilege for 17 years to lead worship in a drug and alcohol rehab the best worship such great worship and i've learned something there in a deeper way and that is that the people who are there at the altar with me the people who dance with me and raise their hands and clap their hands and cry and weep they don't have anything they don't have a need that we don't have not really because their need is for the lord and our need is for the lord and we may not come from under the interstate we may come from a big house we we can come from anywhere wherever we come from we need the lord and what's beautiful about the lord jesus is he really wants us i know what it is to be at the altar and put my arms around a woman and she says to me don't touch me you don't want to touch me i'm a prostitute and i'm like you know what we have all all of us we're just we've all just fallen short [Music] and yet he wants us to really come to him he wants us to pour ourselves out it doesn't have to be in a pretty way he's not looking for pretty he's looking for us to just fall apart before him and worship him and love him he is the creator of us oh it is so lovely and so fitting to praise him so i encourage you right now let's all just i'm gonna do it too let's just all go to a deeper deeper place a freer place in our worship for you that may be being still for some it may be you may want to do this i don't know but whatever you do do what the lord leads you to do cry out his name as we worship approach him with fervor because you need him you need him i need him so let's go before him the throne room jesus be pleased god with our worship empties from the top of our heads to the bottom of our face lord and fill us with your spirit god how we praise you and worship you jesus jesus is in this room here right now here right now making this place [Music] we're standing on holy ground in the presence of your majesty [Music] your spirit news [Music] flowing down flowing down [Music] again [Music] [Applause] [Music] holy [Music] our [Music] holy we worship you [Music] jesus your guiding me to your will to your will if all of the heavens are singing along with holy [Music] [Applause] [Music] glorious [Music] [Music] me [Music] before you [Music] glory as i run inside [Music] is [Applause] [Music] me [Music] forever holy holy holy lord [Music] forever glorious winner [Music] yes [Music] we praise you jesus is in this [Music] making this place [Music] you and we is you we worship you thank you father [Music] is worship is reverence for an adoration of our great god he is holy and righteous and faithful trustworthy and true and it was doing the study of exodus many years ago so i was marveling at how the articles of the tabernacle all pointed to christ and how he was the fulfillment of everything in the old testament and i was kneeling in prayer this is what the holy spirit impressed upon my heart overwhelming that the veil has been torn and the way has been opened that every time we pray we are entering the scene of heaven tonight as we have worshiped we have joined in with the praise of heaven what an incredible privilege god has granted us and as i knelt before him that morning what what he impressed upon me and what he said to me was minister to me in the tabernacle not made with human hands and i began to weep again because suddenly i realized the articles of the tabernacle can be a guide as i minister to the lord in the throne room going from article to articles that's what i'm going to ask you to do tonight is to join me in that and we're going to walk through the tabernacle and we're going to minister to the lord before we lift up any intercession at all so would you bow with me and let's minister to the lord in the tabernacle not made with human hands and the miracle of the spirit is when we bow our heads and we whisper his name we are transported into that very throne room let's pray heavenly father we bow our heads before you and we bless you and we do give you praise and adoration because you alone are worthy to receive glory and honor and praise and we bow before you as we pause at the altar the altar that represents what christ did for us at calvary and father we lay ourselves on that altar as romans 12 1 tells us to we offer ourselves right now to you as living sacrifices all on the altar nothing held back totally consumed for christ because this is our spiritual service of worship do you please offer yourself holy and completely to him right now holding nothing back then we move to the labor where the priests would go and cleanse themselves before offering sacrifices and after offering these sacrifices and we know that the labor was made of the bronze mirrors of the women who worked at the doorway of the tent of meeting and it was filled with blood it was filled with water that would be mixed with the blood from their hands after they rinsed them after the sacrifice and we know that the word of god washes us and cleanses us and father we've been singing your word tonight and so we thank you that your word cleanses us and father that when we look into it it becomes for us a mirror where we actually see ourselves as we are it is here that he cleanses us as we confess our sin is there anything you've been holding back is there an area in your life that the holy spirit has put his finger on that you need to confess and forsake tonight turning from your sin and turning to christ and the moment you cry out to him he will cleanse you with the washing of the water of his word and with his spirit then the priest would go into the inner court and there was the lamp stand and the lamp stand was kept full of oil and all in the old holy spirit in the bible represents the holy spirit so would you just ask the lord right now to fill you with his holy spirit we are commanded to be filled with the holy spirit in fact in ephesians 8 5 18 through 20 it says and do not get drunk with wine for that's dissipation it's excess but be filled with the spirit and as a command speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs singing and making melody with your heart to the lord always giving thanks for all things in the name of our lord jesus christ to god even the father and be subject to one another in the fear of christ so would you ask him right now to fill you with his holy spirit and receive it by grace through faith father we thank you that you had them turn the bulbs of that lamp stand to light the area right in front of the lampstand and i thank you that you give us enough light for the next step not for tomorrow or next week or next year but you give us enough light for the next step may we walk in the light of your word may we walk in the path that you have marked for us and honor you and bring glory and honor to the name of jesus as we do and then there's a table of the bread of presence and jesus said i am the bread of life he who comes to me will not hunger and he who believes in me will never thirst jesus alone can meet our every need he is the one who comes within and he meets our need to be loved our need for purpose and significance is met in him and he sets us free to love others out of the overflow of his great love for us matthew 5 8 says blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see god the bread of the presence is literally called the bread of the face father how we long to gaze upon your face how we long to see you would you open our spiritual eyes and would you give us ears to hear what your spirit is saying the next article on that inner court is the altar of incense and revelation 5 8 tells us that he holds our prayers in golden bowls full of incense and it tells us in revelation 5 8 they are the prayers of the saints so even the prayers we're praying now are being gathered before the lord they will be held in those golden bowls and they will rise continually before him as incense and there was a veil that separated the priest from the holy of holies the ark of the covenant and the mercy seat but now that veil is no longer there so when we kneel at the altar of incense we are kneeling before the very throne of our god we say with moses show us your glory change us by your goodness mold us and make us more like jesus and as we prepare our hearts we're ready now to align with god's will and to ask that his kingdom will come and his perfect will will be done in our lives and all of our circumstances and situations on earth as it is in heaven and i know many of us have needs here tonight some of you have loved ones that are not saved i want you to lift their names before the lord right now ask the lord to save them ask the lord to engineer the circumstances in their life to draw them to him to bring them to the end of themselves that they might recognize their lostness and their need for jesus i want to encourage you to keep praying to keep bringing them before the throne of grace before the mercy seat do not give up continue to pray until you see them call upon the name of the lord for salvation there are some of you who have physical illnesses or you have a loved one who needs physical healing would you lift their names right now to the lord what a beautiful testimony we heard tonight of the faithfulness of our god and the faithfulness of a couple who are trusting him in the midst of something that can be so dark so frightening and yet they have seen him move and work on their behalf he has shown himself to be mighty in their lives so father right now we pray for mike and pam and lord i ask in the name of jesus christ that you would completely heal mike golding nothing is impossible for you so father i'm asking that you would curse every errant cell in his body and that you would command them to be uprooted and cast out in jesus name and that you would speak healing over his body i have a whole list of loved ones of staff members and church members and friends who are dealing with illness right now and father i lift them up to you as i do every morning asking that your kingdom would come and your perfect will would be done on earth as it is in heaven you've told us to lift our request to you our request is for physical healing we ask you to move on their behalf father for your namesake and for your glory only there's someone here tonight who has a a marriage that seems to be falling apart you're struggling in your marriage would you surrender right now surrender your marriage to the lord surrender your expectations of what you thought your marriage would be would you ask the lord to fill you with his holy spirit and give you eyes to see your spouse as he sees your spouse [Music] to give you wisdom to help you be the woman and the wife that god has called you to be regardless of what your spouse does or does not do some of you have children you're praying for children who are running from the lord would you lift them before the throne right now god loves them more than you do our heavenly father loves them ask him to pursue them ask him to send christians across their path and to engineer the circumstances in their lives that just like the prodigal they will come to their senses and come back to the father lord there are people here tonight who have financial struggles in the midst of all that's been going on around the world with this pandemic father their financial needs their personal struggles in faith and with stress and anxiety and loneliness father would you meet every single need whatever your need is would you lift it to the father roll your burden over on him because he cares for you and never intended for you to carry that load and i want us to pray for our nation i want us to intercede on behalf of the united states of america and i pray father that you will turn the hearts of your people back to you father that we will confess our sin that we will turn from our sin and turn to you and father that you will hear from heaven and that you will heal our land father we're praying for a revival to sweep across our nation god we're asking that you would use us here that we would be a catalyst for spiritual awakening in memphis and beyond god from the nation to the nations we're asking lord jesus that you will do a mighty work that will literally wash around the globe father that your spirit would sweep up many into the kingdom of god that you would prepare us for the day of your return because lord we are experiencing the birth pains right now and we want to be prepared and we want to be about your business so father we surrender to you again [Music] use us as vessels of honor in your hand bring glory and honor to the name of jesus give us opportunities to share the gospel and to disciple and to send out those that you have called to advance your kingdom until that glorious day that we see you face to face father may we live every day for that day and it is the precious the glorious the all-saving name of jesus christ that we pray amen amen well what a night what a night it's been you know i can't help but just think maybe the lord just gave us a tiny picture of what eternity's gonna be like [Music] the sounds as heaven that
