welcome to our slash I don't work here lady the first one is titled Karen cusses our Airport IT because she's going to miss her flight just had my first Karen experience today setting Airport office building across the street from terminal cast meet an airport IT field engineer Karen in a black dress sandals and no mask in two large handbags heading to terminal from administration building and sees lady that looks like a lost passenger and decides to chime in me the terminal is on the other side of this garage Karen but I need to get to Southwest my flight leaves at 7:15 it's seven o'clock me you'll be lucky to make it it's on the other side of the garage and across the street if you go to the counter they'll help you rebook your flight Karen but that doesn't help Karen storms off downstairs to her car and drives to the other side whilst my colleague and I walk over to our service call in the terminal fast forwards are approaching the bridge to the terminal Karen starts running Karen you could have helped me confused as we don't work for any airline and have literally walked to the terminal faster than she drove me sorry but we're not with the airlines there's nothing that we can do for you Karen stops in shock with an expression that no one has ever given her a reason to her entitled miss Karen but I'm a customer you should have helped flips me off me nothing I can do for you have a nice day Karen how can you sleep at night with this me very soundly have a nice day Karen rushes to the Southwest counter at 7:10 in which she is advised she missed her flight we tend to our service call and witness karen sitting near the southwest counter bench in my years of doing any type of customer service this has to be not only the funniest karma I've ever been a part of but the first time I've been cut it out because it's literally not my job the next one is titled horrible wedding guests during college I worked for an independent catering company that mainly did weddings people tend to be either very nice or very mean at weddings to wait staff in the company I worked for didn't really care about the customer so I always tried to go out of my way to make everyone's experience better because my company was independent it means that we would travel to whatever venue the wedding was being held at and didn't actually work for that venue after dinner at this specific venue I was bussing plates and had a full stack of about ten in my hands with silverware in between them which created some imbalance and they were heavy I was walking quickly trying to get back to the kitchen without being in anyone's way this woman tried to flag me down as I was coming towards her and I stopped quickly to say I'll be right back ma'am I just need to set these down quickly as I started to walk away she grabbed the back of my arm and squeezed it which made me drop the plates I was carrying luckily only a couple of the plates broke and she just sat there and scoffed while I picked them up once I was done cleaning up she snapped her fingers at me and did the finger signal to move in close and she said now that you're done being a klutz where is the gift table for me to put my gift for the bride and groom I was so taken aback that she would talk to me this way I explained to her that I only worked for the catering company and wasn't sure about where the venue has set that station up she responded by saying well you need to do your job and find out then don't you in the most condescending tone I've ever heard now normally if the guest was nice I would have been more than willing to go find the wedding planner and ask but not this time at this point I was done being treated poorly at my job by guests and my bosses and it was one of those moments I didn't really care if I got fired or not so I got on my knees and started bowing to her saying yes master of course master anything for you oh great one she was pissed and her husband was mortified I got up looked around the room and from where she was sitting I could see a table with gifts on it I pointed and said I think it's over there you can see it from where you're sitting and I hope that no one ever talks to you all your kids if you have them like you talked to me at this point she was speechless and seemed embarrassed her husband mouthed I'm sorry to me and they left shortly after I didn't get fired but I chose to quit a couple weddings later after some more unfortunate events the next one is titled excuse me so last night my partner went grocery shopping we do this twice a week he's a fairly tall guy over six feet and he does dress nice usually golf attire can play with a golf hat although he dresses nice his outfit does not even come close to looking like the grocery stores uniform plus the employees don't wear hats so he's strolling along with his cart and some old lady is asking him about cherries or something dumb he explains he doesn't know and doesn't work here and moves on then he gets to the fish section and again another old lady asks him about food and yet again he explains that he doesn't know and doesn't work here it's strange enough that several people have already thought he worked there imagine a guy dressed up in golf attire pushing a full shopping cart and clearly shopping it's pretty obvious he's a customer shopping there then he hears it a very Karen excuse me at this point he's near the deli section and obviously assumes this lady is speaking to someone else so he doesn't turn to face her he continues shopping until he hears it again even louder this time this lady is basically screaming at this point after she screams it several times he finally looks over and there's a line up at the deli with no one working there the lady keeps screaming excuse me at him and when he looked up she angry asked him if he was going to help them at this point my partner is pretty fed up and yells back at her that he doesn't work there she gets all huffy about it funny enough an actual employee witnessed the whole thing and laughed at him the employee was able to get the deli worker back to his station to help the very angry line of customers not the most exciting story but I'm always baffled how someone would mistake others for working there I couldn't believe my partner when he told me this story and said so many people thought he worked there so strange I think this pandemic has everyone going crazy right now the next one is titled freelance photographer meets upset lady last spring at local botanical garden people me the photographer friend who is modeling for me doing random photos upset lady and her friend it was a beautiful early May afternoon at the botanical garden cherry blossom time of year you know they're just a good day to be around nature the park is slightly busier than normal for a Tuesday afternoon but still mostly empty me and model are talking and I take out my camera and get a shots of the flowers with a macro lens a few nice simple portraits of her we sit and lounge for what felt like hours but was maybe 45 minutes snapping some photos here and there I use a full sized Nikon d810 and I have a 85 millimeters lens with lens hood so not too small at all we moved to a different spot to get a different colored tree and upset woman and her friend come over we want next four photos I didn't hear them at first because I was talking to my friend next comes a heavy tap on my shoulder I said we want photos next I without hesitation hand in my card and say you can book me for another day but I'm busy oh please you're already done with this nasty looking up and down my body friend person I think your camera has had enough of her me I'm sorry I'm with her as she is my friend and model if you wish to book me my emergency pricing is $500 an hour with a minimum of three hours paid up front upset lady how if asterisk asterisk seeking dare you do you know who I am go get security I'll just have you throw out and take your camera I can do better than you anyway I put my camera into my bed and look for security myself about two minutes later friend comes with a guard upset lady your [ __ ] photographer worker here is refusing to take my photo call your manager over now or I'll have you fired after he is also he stole my camera it's in his bag guard has the look of Oh Lord here we go on his face calls manager now upset letting is on the phone with 911 to report me for stealing her camera seven minutes go by of upset lady bickering with the manager and security and me and my friend off to the site just watching at this police show up and at this point the manager has told him she is harassing me and once all removed she screams I will not leave without my camera it's in his bag cops questioned me about it and I say please ask her what camera model memory card size and lens are in this bag and what the copyright information in the settings will say as it's her camera she would know it cop grins at me because he knows it's my cameras she's just being extra she is asked it's a Canon t5i I don't remember which lens I have so many I pulled the camera out and it's a Nikon and show they the copyright input screen at which time she screams but he sexually assaulted me when you weren't looking at this point the cop pulls his radio out and calls in an EDP call and needs services for that I later find out that means emotionally disturbed person and she was charged with harassing me and my friend trespassing in the park and ended up spending like nine days in a city mental health facility the next one is titled I'm too young to work but who cares I'm a 14 year old female as you can tell I'm too young to work but do I look older you may ask no I have a baby face and I'm very very short this story takes place at night around 8:00 p.m. my mother went out for dinner with her friends and I was going to stay with my dad at home but he got a call from his boss he sometimes works as a substitute teacher when needed and he told me he had to go I said okay but he was very worried to leave me alone at home and asked his boss if I could come his boss said I could i took my book and stayed at the teachers room with the other teachers everything was going fine until one of the teachers next to me got a call a mum wanted to talk to her the teacher didn't even have time to answer and this lady stormed in the room she threw her bag and her coat at me and I stared at her confused she noticed it lady what are you looking at me why did you throw these lady this is your f word job don't complain me what I don't work here lady of course you do what else would you be doing here me I'm she cuts me off lady you do work here you're probably a school dropout don't talk to me you lazy trash I started to cry and the other teachers came to help me I dropped her coat and this lady freaked out lady look at what you did you racial slur even though we were both white after two minutes of her cursing at me the security came and forcibly removed her I asked the teachers if we could just forget that and nobody ever told my dad the next one is titled old story from 10 years ago this story is from about 10 years ago I was 20 at the time and I was still playing airsoft I'm from Hungary originally I live in the Netherlands now and this story happened there so like I said at the time I was still playing airsoft as my mum would put at cowboys and Indians in military uniform and the story took place after a Saturday spent in an old sand quarry shooting at each other literally from Oh 900 in the morning until about 1900 that's 7 p.m. we are running around playing semi seriously but very intensely this was in June or July I can't exactly recall and it was hot outside I was not exactly high on cash and I had other hobbies too so I was always playing the insurgent side which meant I could just wear my mishmash of gear and weaponry against the military guys who were always kitted out with full uniforms and matching gear anyway I was wearing army green BDU pants with the big side pockets a knockoff USMC t-shirt and buns where modern German army boots that were literally falling apart at this point the game was out of town so a friend of mine was driving me and two other guys one of whom was a cop important later to and from the game on the way back all four of us being extremely swamp-ass we decided to stop by a Tesco to grab something to eat and drink the game actually went on for longer than anyone thought it would and we all ran out of snacks and water we went in I went to grab myself an energy drink and some snacks as I'm browsing the energy drinks someone yells in the most rude tone and manner Hungarian has formal and informal forms at me finally hey you help me out I'm really tired at this point and this confuses me I look around and see a fat dirty woman about fifty the equivalent of what Americans would call white trash staring at me yes you I've been looking for an employee for 10 minutes you guys must all be hiding in the back I respond / I'm really not sharp at this point remember we're in a Tesco those guys have uniforms that are blue and red and I'm in fatigues she goes off on a tirade of how useless store employees are and starts berating me like I said being tired and generally somewhat awkward I just stand there weathering the storm when the cop guy comes around the aisle and sees us he knows I know military protocol and call Souths sergeant what's going on I instinctively stand to attention pivot towards him and respond I don't know sir I have no idea the woman at this point just stops dead in her tracks she stares a cop guy who is by the way similarly dressed as me in army pants and a combat shirt then back at me ma'am I'd appreciate it if you could leave my subordinate v he says the woman goes but he's been rude to me what I haven't spoken a word other than what I replied to cop guy ma'am I know for a fact that that isn't true if you don't stop I'll activate myself cops have to declare themselves to activate their duty to take any official action if they are off-duty in Hungary and I'll charge you with harassment the woman is speechless her mouth literally a gape he turns to me come on sergeant we're leaving we walk away we have a good laugh about it in the car and from then on cop guy and the two others jokingly call me sergeant sometimes even though I never actually got to serve in the military or the police I wanted to that's why I knew how to respond to cop guy but I immediately unfit the next one is titled wrong number at San Antonio International Airport in the mid-80s we lived in San Antonio Texas in an apartment landlines were the only real option so we got one this was our first apartment as a new couple so we were excited to have our own phone in the first six months we had two or three wrong number calls but they were very specific in their request they'd always asked us to turn the temperature up or down that was bizarre enough but then the calls started coming several times a week I finally got one caller to explain she worked in a big office building at the airport for a large company in there heating and cooling was controlled by the thermostat in the building across the busy four-lane road same company but different departments in the two buildings she didn't know why it was like that but she'd been told to call over whenever it got really hot or cold she was nice and professional and promised to fix the little sign next to the phone where somebody had written our phone number by mistake apparently their last digit was one off from our phone number the next day the calls doubled a different woman explained that they'd saved a new company directory of phone numbers that morning and now everyone knew to call our number to change the temperature I think the lady I talked to the previous day made a mistake the new company directory had been distributed to every desk in the building it was laminated you can all guess where this is going right it took me a bit to convince my wife but she finally let me have my fun she did giggle when I'd answer the phone and tell whoever was calling that we had the temperature perfect over here and we weren't about to screw it up for them this went one for a couple weeks and our friends and neighbors got to witness my response to a few of them one day the caller didn't like my attitude and threatened to come over and have her talking to me I pretty much threatened his manhood and laughed that he'd never find me over here he called back several times searching for me and I'd tell him he was getting colder or warmer and then finally say see I still control the temperature it just stopped after that we watched the news for anything about it for a couple days but nothing came of it we never received another call from them I know what I did wasn't mature but I was an 18 year old kid and didn't realize they could have actually found out where I lived and shown up to deliver the beating I deserved I just got lucky I'm not saying I regret it just not quite so proud of it as I used to be the next one is titled mistaken for Burlington worker 4 wearing black all black so today I went to Burlington Coat Factory to try to buy more black pants for work I work two jobs and one requires black pants today I worked at Chipotle and after my shift I decided to check out the sale at Burlington Coat Factory they are taking an additional 50% off almost everything in the store so you can imagine how crazy it is in there I was just in there minding my own business looking at the options available I was also trying to avoid people - then out of nowhere a woman comes up to me with a shopping cart and asks do you know how much this jacket costs I just looked at the tag and said it should be about $30 she then asked me will it be 50% off at the register I told her it's possible and I also pointed to the sign that says save an additional 50% off items at the cash register she continues to ask me are you sure I then proceeded to tell her look lady I do not work here she just stared at me for a few seconds and proceeded on with her day it's funny because while I was wearing all black clothing I still had a shirt that said Chipotle anyways I'm not sure how she did not see all the signs displayed at the store and outside the store I didn't even end up buying my black pants because the line was super long and I didn't think it was worth waiting and to just try to buy them another day the last one is titled I think I was mistaken for a Kohl's employee I went into Kohl's today because I bought a shirt there a few days ago that didn't fit so I needed to exchange it for a different size I was carrying the original shirt that I had bought still in the plastic Kohl's bag I did have on my work uniform a white shirt and black pants but I was also wearing a gray athletic jacket over it and I had my purse on my shoulder as I was heading back towards the women's section to grab the shirt in the correct size some woman called out to me which registers are open now this Kohl's has two different entrance exits and like a lot of stores now they only have one open and aren't letting people enter or leave through the other one and it appeared that only the registers by the open entrance were being used I had certainly noticed a few of those were open when I first walked in but this lady was walking by the registers that were near the closed entrance and obviously none of them were open also the other set of registers by the open entrance were only about 100 or so feet away from these closed ones and you could clearly see people checking out at the other ones from where this lady and I were so even though I don't work there the answer to her question was pretty obvious to me so I just pointed towards the registers by the other entrance and said well I see that several are open over there but yeah I am a cashier at a different store and I've never for the life of me being able to understand why it's so difficult for people to figure out what registers are open if the light isn't on and there doesn't appear to be anyone anywhere near it there's about an 100 percent chance that register is closed if there's a light on and you see a person there and see other people checking out it's open thanks for listening
