[Music] hi there welcome to crate with copper today we're going back to basics and I want to talk about the wrap around weeds it's named these retro round weaves to describe how the frame wires are held together by wrapping the weaving wire right around them this becomes a little less descriptive with multiple frame wires but hopefully still make sense there's a huge variety of weaves that come into this category we're going to start simply with two frame wires and I'll just wrap my weaving wire a few times around the first one just ran Creek I'm using 1 millimeter frame wires and not put four millimeter weaving wire here and then I'll put my second wire along side first and wrap right the way around both of them two times I'll then rap just that first often wire two times and then wrap around both of them twice then I'll just continue this wrapping two wires twice then one wire twice to create the weave now is to to weave creates quite a nice effect but you can change it slightly and wrap around the wires three times so three times around the single-wire and then three times around both wires just extends the effect a little bit but you don't need to stop there and you don't need to keep an equal number of single and double raps so let's put another couple of wraps onto the single wire and then two wraps on both wires and then five wraps on just the one wire before two more raps on both wires which gives a much more open effect now since we started with the tutu combination let's just reduce that down and see what it looks like we have one wrap on one wire and one wrap on both wires because I've reversed this around the single wrap is on the top wire and as you can hopefully see that produces a closer weave now of course there are many many more combinations these are just a few but part of the joy of weaving wire is coming up with new weaves and seeing what they look like now as you increase the number of frame wires you increase the number of potential combinations you can make so I'm just going to show a few of my favorites here so it's the first one I'm going to use three frame wires and I'll just wrap a couple of times around one of the wires to anchor the weaving wire and then holding two of the wires together I'm going to wrap over both of them twice and then take the wire through the middle of them in order to add the third wire and then go over the second wire and the third wire twice those top two wires then if you bring your weaving wire up between the two of those you can wrap the bottom two wires twice and this particular weave just continues in that way wrapping the top two wires and then the bottom two wires together and it provides a nice close weave they might find the frame wires want to kind of go into a bit of a triangle there's a little bit of a ridge on the back all you need to do is just both along that weave gently with your flat nose pliers or nylon jaw pliers and that will flatten the wires and settle them into position for a completely different look but still using three frame wires I'm just going to wrap that middle wire five times then I'll wrap over the top - why is twice I'll then go back and rap just the middle wire three times and then wrap the bottom two wires twice and then three times around just that middle wire again before going back up to wrapping the top two wires twice and we will just continue in this way and as you can see that creates a totally different effect so let's now look at a couple of weaves on five frame wires under my weaving wire on again and then taking the second frame wire I'll just wrap over both of them twice and bring the weaving wire up between them I'll then add the third wire in and wrap either that and the second wire twice and bring the weaving wire through the middle of them and I'll just add all of the frame wires in the same way once you've added the fifth wire it's worth just splaying out the ends of the wires just to help keep track of where you're wanting to put the weaving wire and then want to start weaving back down the row of wires so I'm going to take the weaving wire between the top - why is and then over the next two wires twice and then down and over the next two wires twice and then as are the bottom two wires twice and then you can continue weaving up and down in the same way and that creates a nice zigzag effect on the wires but if you want to really full effect on the wires you can try the next week that I'll show you it's I like to call the tapestry weave I'm just going to coil the weaving wire on one wire just to move it away from that a bit of weaving and then to start the weave I'll take that weaving wire around the bottom two wires just once and then up between them it's then going to go over the next two wires once and up between them and then then X to Y is and then the top to Y is and then I'm just going to wrap around the top wire once and then the top two wires again and then the weaving wire comes up between those top two wires and over the next two wires to come back down in the same way that I went up I'll then show you the reverse of direction again going over that bottom wire once over the bottom two wires once between them and then start moving upwards again and this weave just continues in the same way until you've got the links that you need this is another of the weaves where they're why is tend to curve a little bit once again you can just use your flat nose pliers or nylon jaw pliers to bite gently onto them and straighten them up now the other thing to note about this weave is that it looks different on the back to the front this is just worth bearing in mind on your project depending on what effect you want to have on the front yes you can take your weaving wire around more than two wires if you wish here I've already wrapped around one wire and then two wires so if I add the third wire in wrap around the three wires twice then just the two lower wires and then the single wire and then back up to wrap - why is twice and then all three Liars twice you get almost a satin stitch look on the pyramids the weaving wires do come out to be a little bit puffy so it's worth flattening them down with an island your pliers now if I start to pyramid again go up to the three raps wires and then I'll add another wire in and wrap right the way around the four wires and then back down to the three and then the two and then the one wire this is still holding the wires fairly well so is fine to use if that's the effect that you want on your leave but I probably wouldn't go higher than four wires wrapped over in this way and here you can see the final effect you all of these weaves can be used around curves here I'll just curve the wires with weaves already made that you could bend and weave the wires as you go along you it will change the effect of the weaving a little bit with weaves on the outer curve kind of splaying out of it but this can lead to some new and interesting effects I've just shown a few of the possible weaves today to please experiment have fun and see what effects you create hope you enjoyed the video if so please press the like button below don't forget you can subscribe to my channel and headed to my website for more hints tips and projects thanks for watching and I see you
