WILL THEY RUN? Junkyard First Starts After Years of Sitting

hey guys this is Dylan real quick just wanted to explain what this video is all about a few months ago Kevin from junkyard Diggs and Luke from Thunderhead 29 came over and we all revived a 1970 Plymouth satellite from a junkyard first video is on Kevin's channel and the second one was on mine we decided let's not stop there directly after those videos we ended up going and reviving some more cars but the point of this one was to do a lightning round situation we're gonna go through gallon of gas electric fuel pump and a hot battery a couple basic hand tools and some wire and see how many cars we can get running with in the end of the day and some didn't make it some did which is why we call them lightning rounds if it didn't make it go on to the next one we keep going it was a lot of fun and I appreciate the guys coming down and hanging out with me that day this is way back in September so it's been a long time since this video was recorded but you'll see that we had a lot of fun that day and we're hopefully all gonna hang out again soon but I want to make sure you guys get a like comment subscribe not only onto my videos but Kevin and Luke that's junkyard digs and Thunderhead 289 and go ahead and subscribe to classic Mustangs 49 because he's a part of our group as well and he'll be in some videos soon but anyways here's a video guys thank you so much for watching and let's get it go lightning round round 1 on my channel check it out other rounds on junkyard digs we're gonna get this Jeep over here in the corner running or at least try to here's the guy who's gonna make it run right now Thunder 8 to 89 we're looking at this looks like I'd say mid 70s cj5 has an inline 6 like an AMC would and it actually looked pretty good on to the inside I don't even know if it has a key in it does have a key where are the keys in this thing no key watch your mouth that's not a hood support this they just fold up goes all the way back oh my god it's the World War 2 war Second World War actually has a name world war two war so mr. McCool you said there is no key there's no key but I wonder if we could go get Hotwire we have any jumper wire your wire strippers will be done will be done with this five minutes he's wired got the battery in see if it cranks long Luke is gonna change the battery here I'm going to disconnect the fuel line and then we'll run it to wherever our gas Joe can I have no idea but then we'll try and turn it over see if it'll run okay ladies and gentlemen how to start a car that doesn't have a key that's that's the PC way to say that yes don't steal alright so mr. McCool and all your expertise you have a fuel system rigged up for us I believe great set up a fuel pump here into our gas jug trying true method here we'll just take a quick and dirty straight to the in line and this is a return system yes that's awesome my good time host this fuel line here and we get in here tighten up that oh I hit this panel look at this so this doesn't have much for moisture in the engine just because I can still open this she's clicking actuate everything unless you wired it wrong again it is a manual now I don't have a Keith oh wait yeah I do there's a key on the floor I'm hot-wired that sucker here doing junk I'm going to hit the key do it let's take it in with the battery clicking Oh fastest way to see will this run on a lightning round pump done a few times this moves there's an sceeto on your face so make sure your chokes open there's not gonna be a lot of moisture in the engine look inside yeah it's an engine yep there's an engine in dipstick I think it's on that side I have thorn stuck in me Dillon you know the dipstick I'm looking at - right here good stick of dip there we go there it is oh and the verge it is oh dude look it's men it looks brand-new let me focus on that that looks Wow somebody changed the old parked it never started insert carburetor problems here it has a brand new starter on it to you pretty much this which started like brand new was great fill the bucket with engine she's making some noise it's a one barrel so you don't have an accelerator pumps part no you do it works oh how about a puppy oh this is probably a solid rig turn the key turn the key don't run the throttle mr. Finley or mr. Thunderhead yeah I know I bumped it the horn doesn't work oh there's a big old spider on there a begone Satan okay [Music] [Music] probably all the way to the right down dude it's idling that was all it took with Idol [Applause] parking brake on [Music] zero exhaust note [Applause] brakes are probably locked up on it what's your break it's tried to move I think the brakes are locked up or something I think I bring some stuff oh no probably the best part about this scene was it was idly no it just so honestly it looked like this thing was basically driven here somebody got tired of I guess to store it here and this is where it's sad the oil looked brand-new had a brand new starter on it and the fuel pump works it just dumped fresh gas all over the place so we're really expecting that that's at first we probably could have ran it on the old fuel line probably relatively you know clean it wouldn't move I don't know why it would sit there in the wheels would just spin and act like they were locked up so all in all I like it I wish that I could drive this thing out of here check out the seats that's like a later model seat right there it's it's a really clean rig which is hard that's definitely something worth saying because every single one of them I've seen that vinyl top is gone but this thing I don't know what year it is I think it's it's mid 70s but a cj5 it makes me think of the one I used to have but the bet the body mounts are really bad to rust and those look pretty solid so it ran the clean over it clean old rig my next choice is the javelin I've never actually worked on one of these things so I don't really know what to expect with it just look out for snakes danger ropes hey there might be a hood release on the inside I don't know what you're a javelin this is but it's like that I think it's a seventy two or three oh that's a lot I'm gonna go for it were there or is it right there I think it's that thing that's the very heart you know right next to it we're gonna die this one's pissed oh yeah it's keep them in the door jam yeah there's one answer Luke okay one down let's not the hood release I don't know what is I don't know how to AMC that was that was good content what if I told you I wasn't recording we had to do it all over no I was just pile of Hornets comes out oh look at that minty it oil filter I'm gonna be junkyard ooh don't run it will this thing was restored whole alright and so lighting round oil oil check for well back behind the coil this is basically the same thing as this Jeep we just looked at oh yeah that filter looks new so this thing I don't think this thing's been sitting at all look at the seats are meant I just want to take a moment and just appreciate these beautiful seats like mid restoration nope done I'm giving up want to turn it see what I'll do it's a bad starter it's background that's just the syllabi chattering cousin have enough power try it now it's over here I don't know I don't see an ignition module tell you that they just rattle-can the engine yeah Luke do you have the screwdriver this restores trailer-park style is this a screw is this one of the quick release thing I think you have to push it in and turn it it's like a spry it's actually screw how about that interesting mmm tasty I went in my face or does it have any cool in a or not that should honestly make me feel better about its predicament hello sandy is there anyone in there nobody home I didn't see this part does anyone have a dollar oh we can do the screwdriver thing on that coil and see if that's what Oh before the points even you're gonna have to hook the I just go to the blocks all right so what Luke's doing right now is he's going to jam the screwdriver in there and hold on to it and then grab the negative terminal on the battery anywhere see if there's spark right Luke to my heart actually doing nothing no spice all right let's hotwire if you want to put the distributor back together I'm gonna take a wire from the battery over to coil yeah I don't know might have just be bad in that way probably not so we haven't done any well the filters still empty once we haven't always 25 at all good yeah that's a good thing thankfully it honestly look this all looks new it's all new looking except for the you know the rattle can job but I'm impressed that they didn't get anywhere else this would be a fun thing to race you ever seen guys like rattle can their pulleys and their belts and leave it that is my favorite I'm like that person they really tried running you I painted one of the pulleys while I was running everybody just broke my teeth on that one so Luke is gonna take a hot wire from the positive side of the battery to the positive side of the coil if you can reach if he can reach he made this for what did you make this for earlier the Jeep and then we found the key exactly but this one has a key but we're not getting any spark to the coil I didn't see this part to you we could rob one off of something else but yeah the jeep is good because we know it's interrupting the the ground like it's supposed to in the distributor so it's not that right it should be doing something let's come back to it we'll go to something else this is a fail for the time being I honestly think it run because it's a fake Mopar right our faux pas oh I like it when we first got here I spotted this dart and I really want to try it out it's an inline six slant six here we got a post car to door pretty solid body except with the quarters there I instantly fell in love with it it's a 68 let's did it let's see what we can do with this one okay yeah little slanty we got the single battle Holly not not kinda there's no return spring on it and in any cupholders or Senate councils this will be easy occasion but it's been on the on position all time oh the battery is dead yeah can't start it now so Carla psychics been in a fire I've never seen it happen the inside of the laminate the reflective laminate was like melted off like that big word planning it modulated modulate the laminator across the Panda metric Pham positive side go for it try it whoa you got that it's some gear oh it's a it's a it's on the tree I didn't even notice that yeah that's awesome try it again oh yeah well try some fuel system for compression II but what's left of it that doesn't sound good at all hmm almost sounds like didn't sound like he was even no valvetrain no no no go for it no she's moving you use a moving that's what I'm scared to take it back it out okay we'll take you back now yeah hold that cap and see that rotors all the way now kind of wondering No was not thank you imagine that quick math I figured I'm like if it doesn't fit on something's probably stopping it it's turning over too slow I kind of feel like a quitter but it's late in the day and we want to work on something else it's actually cool instead of the stupid little Dart I love this car and I think it could run if we actually had more time to work on it but it's for you you took that engine added two cylinders and put them on opposing side to fire right up well you know that's just like your opinion man [Laughter] see you found one over here we're not wants to give up the door over there wouldn't work so let's go to this door over here yeah you're right the mark 8 Lincoln 32 valve 4.6 there Cobra engine yeah that's what you want to start right that's gonna get really like serious leave it in there hey this looks familiar are those dead or what you should poke them and find out hop no I'm gonna go where they have gasoline there's literally their heads sticking out oh it's fine all sorts of I'm looking at the fact that it's pulled straight in from the gate it probably drove right here I'm sure it did all right good recipe for a lightning round battery bill fire yeah that's good actually how's it smell it's called gassy a little bit do we even see if this thing will turn over does it have keys that's a college yeah so I didn't route stuff one does have keys probably I mean everything the floor is yes it has a key no yes this was gonna fire that sounds like compression this one actually wants to know where the pliers hey do you have the pliers in your pocket again I'm gonna in doubt check Kevin's pockets are you okay yeah there you go just enjoy the comfort of 19 whatever this is thank you so I'm just gonna pull the fuel line off here and do the tried-and-true formula pick up our electric fuel pump to it and hope that our little holley one barrel isn't totally garbage oh man that horn works nearly died go for it so what's happening the bottle cap they're ready hit it that fuel is potent enough to make it run yeah I think it might be John try one more time that doesn't sound okay I can't tell the jello in there yeah do it [Applause] [Music] she tried one more go it's getting fuel from like everywhere the fuel yeah and me it is it's disgusting world war you ready [Music] why it runs that's all we needed at this point I consider that a win and if we actually were able to I mean we could unhook this fuel line but it would be more of trouble than it's worth because that's just gonna dump all sorts of disgusting fuel everywhere and we could unhook it at the fuel pump but I don't feel like it and I'm tired so let's go work on something that's actually pretty cool like this truck that Luke's gonna work on right yeah some dual quads over there have been sitting for a long time let's see what she does right there well I hope you guys enjoyed this video I'm disgusting we had a lot of fun here basically the lightning round was go around and see if we can find something that runs and I think we had a good successful run most of them did not front though we as you can see the slant six was a 50/50 shot that one over there on the other side this truck didn't run but this one did and then we got the Jeep running everything else did no but it was
