welcome to video three we picked up the truck we cleaned the truck you guys just seen us pressure washers the same day and we're gonna see if we can get this thing started so we went to advanced auto parts got a new distributor cap for it because we don't have spark we are getting fuel but we don't have spark so we got a new wire set spark plug wire set we got all new spark plugs just went with the standard auto light what it calls for and this is a 330 v8 so check this out we just pressure washed the interior boys and we definitely not getting sparked so we got a new coil for it also which i think we have on the counter over there so we got the new coil uh we got new cap new plug wires all new plugs oh yeah the rats definitely got a hold of this this truck boys definitely so we're gonna see if we can get it started i think it'd be pretty cool if we can get this thing started really awesome no it's gonna be 10 points if not it's gonna be the points that's what our buddy mike always says so we just we just laugh at it because whenever we were getting mater to start there's always something wrong with the points like every single time we try to get vader started up there's always an issue with the points so we always joke about it but this is my 51 b series if you guys didn't know that truck man really excited about the things that are coming for that flatbed new engine gonna interior so we kind of cheated on this video guys i just wanted to start working on the engine while we were still finishing up the disaster detail video which you guys already saw but we haven't finished it yet but we also want to start working hey time is money and we got to get this thing started we got to get cleaned up because we got plans for old dumpy or fat tony or shorty we haven't decided [Music] it's either fat tony dumpy or shorty i don't know tony's the one fat tony all right well fat tony a netflix documentary that i was watching fat tony no didn't have a dump truck but i thought fat tony was kind of funny so i think all right so we got fat tony here my wife likes fat tony too so i think fat tony is a winner let me know what you guys think in the comment section down below but we had to press wash this thing first because boys this thing was disgusting ants and everything you can even see the blue on the engine because it's so dirty not even a little bit we got to get the new battery tray new cross member and new hood because those are the three things that are rotted the most 150 for the cross member 300 for the hood and then the battery tray i haven't quoted yet but all three of those will be replaced and we got a new crankcase breather what oil breather what what do you call this thing this cap i'm not big on gas engines uh breather cab yep ford racing breather cap we're gonna put that in its place so that we don't have stuff getting in there if i don't break it first but here's the new coil i was just talking to you guys about so we got a new coil in here bam there you guys go bunch of parts any time i buy a truck i always get a bunch of carb cleaner bunch of brake clean i always get this i always get wd-40 shop towels and five gallons of purple power that's the recipe to get these project trucks going a little sprayer purple power filled up and you can get these trucks pretty clean and up and running pretty quickly so we're gonna get right into it boys stay tuned it's gonna be sweet if we get this thing fired up it's gonna be awesome [Music] all right guys quick update we're getting the plug wires done right now this wire set is actually pretty decent excel is the brand eight millimeter plug wires and actually it comes with a little jig and it's been fairly simple to to get it to look really good so yeah recommend them they're going together pretty pretty good oh dipping diesel here what you think about the plug wire set pretty good this is my first one i gotta put the food on first we've been going to town on this thing we've already got a lot of them done this is the old cab but we're just keeping them in order and then we're gonna put the new cap on one at a time so we're placing one doing one at a time guys so we don't get confused or anything like that so i think i'm gonna start on these plugs while they're finishing up the wires only a couple wires left and we should be good guys there's your update and hopefully we get this thing started very excited all righty guys we've been busting our butt in after this thing we decided to go ahead and keep the old spark plugs in it and this thing last started up 10 years ago so we're going to see if it runs off the old spark plugs and fouls those out before we put new ones in it because just in case some moisture over time got in there we want them to foul the old plugs so we right now we've got the new wires in there the distributor cab we bought didn't actually fit but we got the new breather cap on just cleaning off the car a little bit with some carb cleaners some dumont uh battery freshly charged cleaned up the battery terminals filled it up with water for the radiator for now until we figure out if it runs good and then we'll just go ahead and do a radiator flush and the oil looks good in it we're not going to change the oil on it and if we figure out it runs good we'll probably run it a little bit run it for like 10-15 minutes and maybe go on a short drive and then change the oil just so we can go ahead and stir everything back up and then dump the old oil and put new fresh oil in it so we're gonna have dipping diesel right here do the honors of filming and then i'm gonna sit inside and try to crank it and let mike see if we're getting sparked and fuel and all that good stuff so i'm gonna go sit inside crank it up ready mike let me swap this around uh just uh on the very last second before you want to crank it just connect that positive terminal up all right there's a yellow button on the steering column that's for the horn this uh foreign blaster's horn yeah yeah it's actually a locomotive that's straight off a bnsf train so there's two horn though oh look the freaking blinkers work look at that look at that boys what about the right side is right i cut the right side out we had to cut the right side out because it was just bare wire and we were spraying pressure washer so mike the smart one out of us yeah that's awesome i'll just burn the whole truck down it was up to me and my smart one decided we'll go ahead and cut that out any exposed wires that got wet before we go to crank it so we don't have a fire but we do have two fire extinguishers on site in case you guys wanted to know and if i haven't said it already it's a 1976 f-600 with a 330 v8 and she's a big boy so or he's a big boy batteries in it yeah 12 volts hopefully the ignition works you ready to go yep nothing just clutching nothing pressure washing the cab might have might have helped that one no it didn't work before it didn't work how do you turn it over was he just bumping the solenoid i was going for the cylinder i'm just using pliers and bumping the solenoid yeah the ignition is dead in it ignition's probably just bad over the years well you got a new one i do have a new ignition i don't wonder if i i'm sure it could fit i got the key for it yeah so i'll just put the new key in it wire it up could do that but for now we're probably gonna hit the solenoid and see if we can get it to spin over and fire [Music] and see if it's getting sparked yeah anything sitting on there all the way compared to that other one let's see if you're getting sparked from how we do from the coil kit i think we should throw the new coil on and see if it works we could hot wire too straight to the coil is the ignition on uh turn the key jonathan i don't know if it left it on or not well if the key wasn't on kirk's gonna start up when you're jumping it all right i'll see if that's sparking right there getting sparked sweet here i just i just smelled something like it was gonna fire did you smell it i smell something like this i smell something you can smell like something trying to fire here uh jonathan hold that while we try to get this thing cranked try to hit it with that do you buy some food or just this no i just got that just use a little bit of that hopefully i'll start off of it all right [Music] [Music] so we're getting sparked let's check and make sure we're getting sparked on clothes no spark but we're getting sparked from the coil to the distributor enough spark from the distributor the club so let's see that rotor rotor or cap or you take it apart and clean it maybe or do you want to put a new plug on that wire and just see [Music] just make sure that plug ain't bad so this don't spark we know we got something else going on ready no i just ain't fixing to get shocked someone else can do that well i've been blasted by this before okay good no spark oh let's try it again bloopers new connections yeah try it again wow the cap we bought the distributor cap we bought was the wrong size even though it came and said it was going to be the exact fit but you guys know how that works pretty good if it ain't sparkling [Music] we take the cap off we clean it in the rotor and everything and just clean it with some with a file would that work you think is that rotor top even hitting the top of that all right it's hot i think that battery has enough juice yeah the battery's whipping this thing over we might have liftoff boys we have liftoff we're gonna have to hit our locomotive train horns a couple of times just in celebration i mean they're full i pulled one of the cones off it's full of wasp mess full of waffles probably full of water too did i pressure wash the out of the things guys there's been so there's literally an ant infestation on this truck and a wasp infestation and cockroach and spiders and centipede centipedes too we did find a centipede they found a centipede inside giving her a little you know juice magic all right let's try it i'm sure crank it for like 10 seconds and just see if we can get anything to happen nothing huh it should it should fire you can't tell it was leaking well if we have a fire she backfires try it again try it again hold up does it choke work at all wow all right guys we're going to try one more thing it's getting dark out we don't have much sun left we're going to try one more thing and then if this doesn't work we're going to try to see if we can special order that cap and rotor because we know we're having our issue is with spark we're getting it sometimes not getting it other times and even if we're getting it we don't know if it's hot enough to burn so our issue is still with spark so we gotta see if we can get that cap and rotor also we're gonna run our power wire and ground again probably new wires even though the one that's on it looks fine this truck's not that old it's just a 76. we shouldn't have to do too many crazy things we don't want to just chase after our tail on this one like kind of we did mater we want to just get to the point and get it started really quick this is only the second day i've had this truck so just having it spin over and spark in a little bit is somewhat of progress mike what you up to well i'm trying to get this boot on there but it's the wrong boot so it's not working really well so the plug wires we bought aren't matching up with the coil uh notice uh this is a different size than the rest of these i don't know if you can tell but yeah this size right here which actually slips over like the end of the coil is snout right here and we're right there yeah it just won't go over them so we try using the old one we used it i got it forced on there and we were getting spark out of the coil to the block same with the old wire still getting spark out of the quote of the block and then we did a plug to the block getting sparked there but it was like real intermittent so it might be dirty cap dirty rotor bad distributor there's a couple things host of other things yeah so we're going to try this one more thing try to get it cranked up one more time and we may have to just accept the feet for this time but hey we're learning guys trying to get it cleaned up the distributor cleaned up the rotor a little bit you wanna try with the jump box on there real quick just spinning it over quick man i don't think that that would be our issue you know on yours on mater it spins really quick when it's going to start it's been way faster than that i could put the jump box on it i guess just a little bit more juice maybe what'd you think mike put the jump box on it or let's see if we're getting smart all right get you a good view here you want to go grab some alligator clips off of your truck frank on it [Music] you're probably watching the videos you know i said that before about somebody's truck and they commented they're like dude that's my truck oh dude i feel so bad it was some single cab chevy z71 just clapped out you ready all right so we're hot wiring the ground the ground wire to the plug it ain't sparking it look like it was no maybe it wasn't oh i thought i saw something land out hot wire we're already hot wiring the starter solenoid because it ain't it ain't working in the cab so yeah so now we're going straight power to the ignition coil from the battery see if that gives us a spark all right yep it's gonna be the cap of the rotor i imagine or the distributor because we're not getting spar gosh dude i've almost killed myself like three times a day so we're not getting spark around the whole thing around the scent to all the plugs through the distributor so it's either the rotor the distributor cap or do you have anything else in mind mike or jonathan i think either going to be the distributor but connections on the top side of the distributor where the rotor swings around they could be too far gone for it to make a decent connection because that was like when we did the first plug over here and we got spark it didn't spark until like five six seconds eight seconds after uh spinning it already it spun over probably three times through that cylinder so yeah all right guys so this is where you all come in comment down below let us know what you guys think because y'all definitely some of y'all have way more experience with these 76 ford models this one being the 330 v8 so if you have anything in mind that's common that's common issue on this truck comment it down below so we can get it started in the next video that's going to do it from here you want to get the spark here out that rotor throughout the coil it's getting spark out the coil that's gonna do it for this video
