- Uh oh, we're decluttering again. - Uh oh. - Don't we just declutter
once and then are we done? - Right? Right? Right? (chill music) I think the most important
thing is just finding the method that works best for you. Step one, gather up all of my clothes. - Begin operation, shirts. (dropping clothes) - My mood is tied to my environment. When my house is in chaos, I feel chaotic. - [Craig] If we didn't do this, everything would pile up,
and then we'd be drowning. When you have the space to
store things, you fill it. - Yeah, it's hard not to. Wow. It's just a lot more than I
thought that it was gonna be. - I have more clothes than this, it's in the dirty. I don't have a lot more, but I'll still get rid of a bunch and then maybe have to buy more clothes, which I probably should. - I don't think that I
wear a lot of this stuff. All of my clothes fit into
one dresser and one closet. And so it doesn't feel like
to me, I had very much stuff. And yet seven pairs of jeans,
and I wear one of them, maybe one pair of jeans is not enough. But then the answer is that
I need to get another pair of jeans that actually fits me well. And so I got rid of all
of the rest of them. Here we go. I'm gonna put things
that I'm gonna get rid of on this side of the bed. Things that I'm gonna keep
on this side of the bed. I feel better when I don't have anything other than the stuff
that we need, and enjoy. When I'm not shuffling
around, and cleaning, and tidying, and putting away
things that I don't like. - Throwin' them away, throwin' 'em away. These socks never fit right anyway. I don't like the way these feel. These are gettin' old. So old. So many clothes there that I am sick of, but I keep it because I need clothes. - Right. They don't fit you that well anymore. - I don't like the way these fit. - [Chyna] They are fallin' apart. (laughing) - I'm hesitant about these socks, these were a gift and I like 'em. They're gettin' a little torn here. (sad music) - [Chyna] I think the
hardest thing is letting go of the obligation and the
guilt that you might feel to keep certain things. It was a gift, I spent
a lot of money on it, I used to love this and I wish
that I enjoyed this hobby, or I enjoyed this book or whatever. - Yeah, they're too old. - [Chyna] Or you just have changed. You are just a different person. - I mean like this shirt,
but I never wear it. I associate it with a
different time in my life. I'm gettin' rid of it. Gettin' rid of this one too. Button ups are never really my go to. Was once real old and
I'm gettin' sick of it. I will have hardly any warm shirts left. So I've decided to just get rid of a bunch and then just force myself to buy more. I'm gonna discuss with Chyna about those shirts over there, 'cause she might be sad
to see some of them go. I'm reviewing my clothes, gettin' rid of. - And now we're havin' a
little trouble getting inta. (laughing) - This is my wife Chyna. Chyna Benzine? - I can't-- - I'm gonna put a title down. You just saw my green
flannel, what did you say? - [Chyna] I believe I said-- (gasps) - [Craig] Gettin' rid of the flannel? - You're gettin' rid of the flannel? (laughing) - Allow me to interrupt
myself for a moment. We'll get back to that
terrible fight that Chyna and I were about to have in a moment. But right now I'd like to thank
the sponsor of this video, Blinkist. I consider myself a Blinkist. Blinkist takes the best insights
from over 3000 nonfiction books and condenses them
down into 15 minutes. It's like, that's like the length of
some WheezyWaiter videos. I always say I wanna read more but saying it out loud
doesn't make it happen oddly. It's not like when I
say make a cake happen, and then a cake happens.
that's my superpower. I'm an important busy guy. Or I like to think I am. So I don't have time to read
these books all the time. But with Blinkist, I can read them, and listen to them when I'm doin' my runs, or my guns, strength training, I've been doing that lately. Recently did a video about
making better decisions, and I listened to "Decisive". Because of this I've
learned about Napoleon, Alexander Hamilton. And in fact, that kind of
inspired me to make a musical. I don't know why no one's ever done that. And if you'd like to dive
deeper metaphorically, but if you're like listening to something about scuba diving then
maybe also literally, there's a new feature with
their premium membership you can get 65% off the
regular retail price of a full length audio book. There are 14 million active users, so if you ever wanted
to be one in a million, now you can be one in 14 million, and access to titles offline. If you're worried about big brother, or you're like, you know,
in a tunnel or something, worrying about big tunnel. The first 100 people that go
to blinkist.com/wheezywaiter will get a week trial
for free, seven days, you can cancel anytime, unlimited access. And if you want the full
membership, you get 25% off. Blinkist.com/wheezywaiter. Now then, I'm gonna try on
that flannel shirt again, just to show Chyna. Well, let's try it on. Well, I'll try it on. Actually, you can try it on. - I think it would be too way too small if we both tried it on at the same time. - Okay. - [Chyna] So far not lookin' too big. - Probably 'cause I'm workin' out. - [Chyna] Okay no, I'm
feeling normal person. Yeah, no, that's perfect. - [Craig] Looks good. - This is my shirt now. - [Craig] Okay, I'll wear
it sometimes though too. Can I wear it sometimes? - Get on the schedule. - Okay, we'll make a calendar. In like one year I'll make a video. Am I keepin' the shirt? It'll be four hours long. - Okay, put it in your calendar. (upbeat music) This is all the stuff that I'm keeping. This is all the stuff
that I'm getting rid of. And then I got rid of
all of my pajama pants that don't have pockets,
'cause what a waste of time. It's not about like
how much stuff you own, it's about whether you only have things you find value in, that you enjoy. - I'm not looking forward to this. (sad music) (dropping box) (sad music) - These are cute. (opening box) (sad music) I felt guilty because
I had all this makeup from several years ago, back when I was wearing makeup more. Makeup has limited shelf life. That time had passed
for all of those things, and I threw them all away. - A couple reasons I like to declutter. I don't like having to sift through things to get what I need. So I know where everything is. I know what I have. Sometimes I forget what I have. Ah, mints I got when I was in Japan. I'm gonna have one, two. Little tripod, matches and a lighter. Like this is where I go
when I wanna start fires. Class ring, Marshall, Wisconsin, 1999. I'll never wear it, but
I'm gonna leave it here. I also don't like having
the feeling of like, oh, I should be using this. Why would I even have that thought? I just need to use what I
need, it doesn't matter. - [Chyna] There's a rule about how if you haven't used something
in a certain amount of time, you should get rid of it. - [Craig] Bluetooth
speaker, I came across. - And we've had this discussion about that like last year when we moved. We don't really use this,
but let's hold onto it, it could be useful. We still haven't used it. - Nope. - Are you gonna get rid of it? - Yes.
- Okay. - [Craig] All the years
of gettin' rid of stuff, I don't regret any of it. - [Chyna] We're like four
years into this journey. We go through our stuff all the time. - We never drink martinis. - I remember the first time that we did a full house declutter, full carload of stuff
that we took to Goodwill. - I don't even remember
having a lot of stuff. I don't even remember
what we got rid of really. - 'Cause we already got
rid of these things. - [Craig] Let's get rid of more. - There's still more. - Okay let's do it.
- There's still more. And then we did it again the very next day and found more stuff. How is there still this much stuff left? The things in your life are like an onion, you can only peel away the
outside most obvious layer. Obvious trash, expired things, clothes that are ripped or don't fit you. And then you'll be able to
reassess and find the next layer. Okay, now I'm gonna go
through Ada's clothes. Here we go. (relaxed music) I did keep a couple
little pieces of clothing, the outfit she came home in. But other than that, I just brutally get rid of everything. It's a little emotional looking through. I remember when I bought this, and it looked huge to me. And now it's too small. If it's still here in like a
year after she's outgrown it, then when I look at it, I'm gonna be like, oh but it's so little, remember
when she was that small? Should I get rid of this? These are my favorite,
with puffins on them. So cute. They're definitely not
gonna fit her anymore, and that's sad. Oh yeah, these are done for. And I don't have any regrets. I do keep my favorite
pieces as she outgrows them, but I don't want to end up feeling that way about everything. That emptied that drawer out a lot. I would feel burdened by
boxes of her outgrown clothes, and toys, and stuff. If you have the space for it, and if it's not a hardship
for you, then keep it. She has so many socks, put like
five pairs of these on her. Yeah, no grippies? Sorry, I don't have time for you. My kid is a very slippery kid. So again, I think I'll keep a couple of the really special ones, scan or take pictures of
some of the other stuff. My phone is like full of random pictures and a lot of it is important
stuff that I do wanna keep. - I have a lot of tax documents that I've taken pictures of. I wanna scrap book those. - Oh, okay. - My 1099 Google from
2013, that was a good one. - Take me right back. Okay, that is a huge improvement. - Are we doing declutter
operation, kitchen? - [Chyna] It's kind of the
most daunting one to me. - What's the plan? - [Chyna] Take everything out. - And you're ready for time lapse. (upbeat music) Pretzel buns are a little more colorful than they were before. - [Chyna] It looks like so much stuff when you see it all covering the counters. - Yes, I think it is a lot of stuff. - [Chyna] I don't think it's
gonna take us that long. - [Craig] I'm a little scared. - Don't be scared. I mean the biggest thing
is just like getting rid of the things. - Throwing them in the lawn? - Someone else's lawn? - Yeah, that's how you declutter. No. - Oh yeah that's good. - I don't know yet, I haven't tried it. - Guess who had this leftover? - I gotta say first impression, real good. (laughing) (upbeat music) - And in the morning when I rise, bring a tear of joy to my eye. (upbeat music) - It's days later, I guess
it's always days later, no matter what. - Not to us. - It's never days later. - Days now.
- Days now. - The things that we got rid
of made a huge difference in the fullness of certain
drawers and cabinets. When we put things away or get things out, it's just a less stressful experience. - All in all good time? - Yeah, always. I like doing that. Also I think I've had
three different nose rings in this one video. - Do a little nostril declutter. - I am gonna declutter 'cause
I'm only gonna keep this one. - Oh, good job. Those nose rings, everywhere I
reach I'm like ow, nose ring. - They're not sharp. - Thank you for watching everybody. I'm gonna put links to all
the other declutter related videos we did down there in the dooby doo. Maybe not all, the ones that I remember. YouTube thinks you'll like that video. What should I put here? Previous video. Rubik's cube. And click there to subscribe. You can click like, you can comment. You can dance if you want to. Do what you want within reason. You can support me on Patreon
where I do videos every single week, day, monthly live
stream, other stuff. In the spirit of this video, I shall get rid of
something before I wink. (dinging) I'm gonna put it back on.
