so guys I finally wanted to make a video I'm finally able to make this video for the younger crowd or the guys they're just getting into the mechanic industry if they want to get into the cam mechanic industry now I apologize I had the door open behind me there's a highway back there cuz we're at my shop but I'm going to make a series that start a series rather showing you guys how much work I can get done with just harbor freight tools Harbor Freight came out with this icon brand and everyone has been riding me saying hey it's really really good I've tried the ratchets have tried this I tried everything it's you know you should really try so I gave it a shot I pull the trigger and bought some this is not a paid advertisement the company knows nothing about me didn't writing or anything no discounts at all I don't even have the 20% off discount coupon with me I paid for full price for all this anyway so I am starting a collection of the icon stuff and I'm just going to use just icon so my plan is to use as much Harbor Freight stuff as I possibly can with what I have on hand or when I need to go buy some more stuff now I didn't have the money to go out and buy a complete collection of everything that I think the do-it-yourselfer the guy getting any industry should buy but I started with it and if you copy this this will be a pretty legitimate tool set for you to start with there are a couple things they don't have but we'll go over that so this is what I started off with I had this little flex head ratchet a set complete set of quarter inch standard and metric deeps excuse me shallows and in deep a 3/8 set a socket shallow and deep i bought their wrench set their metric set goes from 6 millimeters up to 19 they appeared to be okay ish quality but they're good I don't know maybe cheat chrome this is a splurge I bought a little globe holder for my gloves that always like to wear I bought two of the socket organizers one metric one standard a 30-inch five drawer mechanics part so you can actually store quite a bit of tools in a little carp like this you'd be amazed I have known a ton of mechanics and that's all they worked out of is a little tool cart it helps if you have a shop just to wear some more tools in but you can get a lot of work done and be a very valuable person to whatever shop you're working at or working for yourself as mechanic with just a cheap Harbor Freight tool cart so guys when you're first getting in the industry I cannot stress this enough for you guys for the new guys the straight out of school these decided to change career paths you're gonna get into shop more than likely you're gonna have a tool truck come up the tool guy in that truck will gladly open that door to the air conditioned truck he always keeps it cold so you hop in there you start cooling off from being in a warm shop he'll usually have some free waters and there is this nice shiny tool box or a tool cart sitting in the back and he's like he's not gonna tell you anything about it you're gonna go over there put your hands on it and he'll go you need to talk art need toolbox and you're like I can't afford it I don't have Bob Loeb on that tool truck driver will gladly immediately fill out a credit app for you to get approved and if you don't have enough credit or great credit they will initially deny it and Dan Yours tool truck guy will say man I'm gonna call in and I kind of force it through give me a minute so he gets on the phone he plays his magic he's like I got you approved man but they approved you for $4,000 well you only needed a thousand for the tool cart but you've got 4,000 this is the scam that the tool trucks run under toolboxes they not only do that they increase the price extravagantly from what you can get comparable elsewhere now they some of them like snap-on does make a high quality toolbox and it is arguably one of the best quality toolboxes on the market but the price range for what you get is just not going to provide you much benefit if you're in a full-service shop and you need a toolbox to roll around I encourage you to save your money get on Craigslist buy one of those 1015 thousand dollar brand new epic toolboxes from a mechanic getting out of the industry you're moving and it can take it with theme for a quarter of the price if you see it on the snap on site for your $10,000 I can guarantee you if you look on eBay and Craigslist your local area or Facebook marketplace and let it go and all these other ones for snap-on toolbox you will find it for a quarter of the price or you can write that person and then offer them a quarter of the price because nobody is going to pay 50% of the value on a tool truck toolbox but this cart was about $300 um have to look it up okay so right now at ominous video this cult tool cart is two hundred and thirty nine dollars and if you sign up for their little mail or you'll get 30% off makes it less than $200 so as a price comparison a snap on one is $600 okay now again I'm sure the quality of this Harbor Freight when US general is better than the Blue Point or is not excuse me not as good as the Blue Point but it's a toll card long as it's sort of built okay it'll hold your tools and it doesn't fall apart then we're good that's why I bought this one cuz I want to try it out on the channel if there's any problems with it I will tell you guys there's a problem with it it's really dull knife there you go whenever you cut something with a knife you want to have the blade pointed at you and the sharp edge pointed upwards towards all your vital organs [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] okay so I got it all together and number one guys if you buy this tool car it's gonna come in pieces if you put it together and have to take it apart put it together take it apart something's not right we all do it I just ran out of battery and memory card but I pretty much got this one together almost correctly the first time but there are these little metal brackets that are inside right here that had to take the nuts back off I can't tell you from assembling plenty of Chinese furniture and Chinese shells and things like that leave every single nut loose do not tighten any nut until you get them all of the bolts through every hole and every nut started and just kind of do a finger tight because it'll give you some ability to kind of move it around and let all the holes line up if not you'll start drilling stuff out now the only problem I really ran into was on the bottom you saw that I had to kind of Waller out those holes it was only because when I put the paint on it the paint I'd kind of dripped over that edge and increase that diameter to where the carriage bolt would not fit through and the instructions is not called a carriage bolt it's called a caster bolt for whatever reason but for what I can tell all the bolts are the same the nuts are different be if you try to use the lock nuts that come with this tool cart you're a braver man than I am because they have this little nylon lock washer bullcrap deals in it that doesn't really work and whenever you try to use an impact or anything it just spins the carriage bolt so I would go ahead I had them in here because I have a bulb in but get you some metric m6 nuts for the entire bottom and then if you can find them flange nuts a matter of fact I will probably if I remember put the link for the nuts to flange nuts that are the correct lines for the bottom in the description you're going to need four eight twelve sixteen okay let's do the math all right any sixteen knows nuts but I'm just gonna trigger some of you guys I also bought this little deal to hold gloves it's just magnetic you just stick it to it and then you pull you blobs out I know that's gonna trigger some of you guys because this is blue and green but I don't like here so the casters on the bottom put both of your ones that can spin around on one side put your fixed ones on this side and you saw me measure now it's not imperative that you measure but if you get them as parallel as possible it won't create any additional drag to where it'll just kind of glide better on its own I've worked with the mechanic before that would purposely kind of caster his or excuse me toe in his casters on his told cart because that way it would kind of naturally have a brake to it soon as you put it pushed it somewhere but just stop but the front end would kind of roll around so now I'm going to go ahead and load up the tool cart with which I think is the most used tools at the very very top and then wrenches and things like that [Music] [Applause] [Music] well that's it for the tool cart and so far that's the sin of sockets I have I don't have any half-inch socket so I only have one set of the metric wrenches so I still need a bunch of stuff but I will buy it budget permitting and get it told out with mostly Harbor Freight stuff there is a couple of things along the way that I'm going to add to it but I'm not gonna give her Harbor Freight but I wanted to do an any expensive tool build to show you guys like you can possibly do these jobs with just stuff that you find at a cheap tool supplier if you have any suggestions as far as what I should put in next what do you guys think is gonna be the next most valuable tool I'm thinking screwdrivers and instead of pliers but throw down in the comments below and let me know hit the like button hit the scroll button and get out there soon [Music]
