list okay a male leopard would be really nice Reeves it'd be great to see him before he leaves you know Milwaukee maybe no precious Cedric no pressure at all I am looking forward to this morning's drive and I think we are really in luck we already got male leopard tracks coming towards the damn wall so if anybody was watching the damn cam last night or this morning and if you saw a male leopard coming past it please let us know which direction because I would love to find a male leopard more Whitey or even my lips for Alison this morning definitely for her birthday so I think it'll be a fitting fitting thing so and maybe we're gonna go look for those Merle lines as well we're gonna go to buffels damn we'll just try and follow up on those lines and see you know maybe we can find those uh little Kumar Pride my Hawk and his sons fantastic watch out as you say you know you never know what we're going to expect here in the bush you always have to expect the unexpected and I think a beautiful morning like this I think 12 of them winning is Young let's get going all right all righty iridium and Allison you said you've already in uh seen tortoise pan you've seenu yesterday wonderful all right that's uh well that's a good start so as you say you ticked two off two and many more to go fingers crossed fingers crossed fingers crossed and I also agree with Alison I would love to see my lips again I think that is uh that would be a winner for us I would love to see my lips you know he's getting to that age where he is from his father's territory and from his uh territory of her region and of course that's from Tandy his mom mom's area all right but I think let's try and follow up on this male leopard track so um it doesn't come over the damn wall I don't know maybe damn can maybe the camera was looking somewhere else Chris is saying happy birthday Alison and I hope you enjoy your Safari with us thank you Chris definitely so wonderful having a birthday out here in the bush I think it is marvelous marvelous I couldn't think of anywhere better to be no no no not at all I think it's perfect okay we've got that looks like a leopard track going down right well there's a follow-up on this Milwaukee is gonna be quite tough you know you know with male leopards trying to follow up on male leopards if it's nice and fresh you know maybe you're lucky but if they've been traveling and if it's a track from last night it could be on the other side of the property all right well we're going to continue looking around this side and heading towards buffelsig Dam let's head over to Rex and as he wants to say good morning good morning good morning everyone thanks joining us for a lovely morning show we are here live fed you must suffering life early in the morning we are having this uh elephant it's a Sunday today look like the elephant are coming out from the bush maybe it's the church day of course for the elephant also to go to the church from myself Roxanne this morning on Sunday and also we have Owen behind the camera we are hoping for the great Sunday morning out here we're starting our show with an elephant let's enjoy the luxury zonta Africana this is the um African bush elephant that normally hangs around in area with a lot of ability of food and water source this is one of the species called water mobile species that means all the Timeless pieces of fat water they cannot do well remember they have to wallow they have to drink water to cool down the body system there's reasoning they call them water or but so what it's water mobile species which it's really all the time has to go to the water vigorously in a day twice maybe three times a day is depends how hot it is winter is the best for the elephant because really they don't have to go visit back to the Water Source um quite often they have to be like moving slowly slowly by show but you tend to see them in different season I wonder where the most of the elephant where they are this time of winter it could be in a real permanent Rivers down South we have sand and uh Sabi River the two of them rivers are permanent that south of the Cyber Sands we are on the Cyber sense North this River permanent Rivers both of them flows from the West to the east near Kruger gate somewhere there and head up to Mozambique it's where the elephant most of time they like to spend the moment around winter season lots of reads you know elephants are very clever species because design you love the Safari with the gently um giant involve which is an elephant you love elephant got a lot this is my favorite species of course elephant more specially in this area I grew up around here seeing these elephant behavior and then I I I really understand them I believe that uh me and the Elephant here we are sharing our ancestors we will read one another uh exactly what the elephant want an actual elephant because I love them all the time even if I'm driving with my own vehicle effort to come in the bush and get close to my vehicle it's it's really a beautiful and nice I'm enjoying um elephant sighting of course in the area it's just because I really appreciate them and loving them it's a cute and beautiful animal and I like with the elephant one thing that makes me really love elephant I learn quite a lot behavior in general with an elephant reading elephant behavior is the great most teacher of my life there's reason was of time I I really like to observe elephant walking also if they are moving around the water holes and the way they do things it's such amazing amazing I've learned quite a lot extra when I was in Pride land with elephant in general when it comes to Mating Season the unbelievable very amazing species and I understand on that part when they communicate it's not only the male that communicate even a female communicate in a very low frequency attracting the males to come because one day we were driving myself and BK suddenly we had this female elephant close to a vehicle doing that rambling within a minute there were 17 elephant Bells come from different direction and go into the female all of them they stop and leave the female in the middle the elephant that is in charge the biggest elephant Wednesday direct to the female and take the trunk put in between the two legs check the female if she's in the oysters or not and find that the elephant was in Mysteries and start to follow and what guess what we have seen there it's just amazing a female also can have a choice of a male that wants to come close there was one bull coming that female charges that ball away from her and let the tribal compete let me position myself with this movement of elephant that the Bulls being three of them they stay with the female but amongst the three all of them they were really pride and then the rest of the lessons that have landed on the elephant in Pride land let's take this unless link over to Chris or Cedric [Music] good morning and a fresh very cold morning out here at braddons Sun's about to rise and it is it is cold this morning it is bitingly cold it will heat up a little bit later we're going to have a relatively mild day today borderline warm and sunny and I'm looking forward to that my name is Chris Erasmus and with my camera Ops behind you there is Panda Glitz our plan this morning again very broad it's an easy going Sunday but we are going to try and Target some Lions some cats and there was both activity of lion around Camp last night that we could hear as well as a leopard that was vocalizing somewhere around camp and I could not get the exact Direction so we're going to start here at camp and we're going to slowly but surely Circle wider wider wider and I will be keeping a close eye on the roads to look at the possibility of any tracks of cats another option might be to try and find the herd of buffalo again and again from there try and backtrack so there's options for us this morning I'm sure that the elephants will show their face somewhere so we're not going to necessarily Target them and one thing I also noted last couple of days is there seems to be an influx of kudu to the area we're starting to see more and more kudu hopefully we will be able to see a beautiful kudu bull and this is the time when they join up with the small herds of females in order to matter them there's the sun coming up now that's perfect timing isn't it good morning good morning Juma Safari girl yes indeed lots of promise in this morning oh there's some monkeys calling behind us I think we need to go and take a look what that is I can definitely hear monkeys somewhere west of Camp I'm gonna go investigate that alarming I'm going to do that in a moment or two might be a predator you never know and just a reminder to our viewers this is alive and interactive experience please send us some questions and comments you can do that on our app but you will have to register in order to be able to do that keep sending them also if you are on YouTube by the way and just subscribe to the channel you were be then able to receive notifications from Wild Earth if there's any amazing content around now those monkeys are going let's go and take a look what they're about that might actually be a predator great our elephants are moving slightly into the ticket only these young yes of course in most cases you know that breeding heart consists of the um Family it could be most of the majority of the bleeding head is females young mothers just come young mothers joins or they can be born within the structure of the matriarch stay there when they get up to 15 16 18 they will thrown from the metric structure and go and join so-called Bachelor structure it's such amazing to see that kind of move from The Matriarch where it's always safety and move to the bachelor boys this I was saying two day few days back why it's like that let me move and reposition myself then we can see this elephant that I'm talking about in front of us although they're a little bit wider into a ticket but I believe that in most cases due to competitions of all species out in nature as a ml you play a very good role into the Society of females the role that you play is to make sure that you breathe healthy Offspring and how you can do that if he stays in a head there's no chance of a male to build his body in order to be a perfect and healthy male to pass on the gene pool so that's reason they will be going away and try to build up the body system in order to be healthy when they come back they can ultimate it's in the nature of the species itself alpha males are always mating and how females they will be always defeated there will be always a really rejected by the metric females that control the whole structure of the females because that is more important that a female has to mate and we thought that it will be mission so all lines do that and uh a buffalo do that they will move out of the structure itself great you see look at the tweaks of these uh I mean queries it's always color of the elephant uh they're still walking slowly here it's a difficult position but we'll be moving forward to really improve our sighting this as we go to the other side is a little bit more open of course these youngster they're enjoying grass talking about uh in general with elephant behavior from a metric and Bachelor boys it's more important to know all of that let me let me try to move and try to get a busy a better Visa of the elephants as you go the other side is improving we take the power land route look at the elephant heading on that area so it's more important because it's where the elephant in most cases they're being a junior boys when they move out when they move out they they practice to start to be helpful while they're still young because you cannot make your body if you're an old try to build yourself did you build yourself while you're still young and have that a perfect healthy structure of an elephant or body of an elephant that will be really accepted in the Society of an elephant itself such amazing I had it could be more than a one elephant up to hundreds that's called the head of an elephant more than one called ahead and it's really really amazing yeah you might get up to 500 individuals of the one orientated family of an elephant become one head but they will split up timing again but as they're related they might move in a bigger picture or bigger area of the land moving in and out but there will be time when necessary they have to be joined together and being over 500 there is a time where they can separate most of time because the elephant they are very very intelligent species amongst all species out in nature we all know that they at least have 5 kg of their brains which is really host or carry by elephant there's reason there's so much intelligence look at that they try to move in the area without impact they don't want to cause impact on the ground that's raising the the only chose to be really in different areas and cover the whole area and move and not to cause any damage on the ground because oh 500 to 300 doesn't matter how many are if they move all together they might cause a serious impact on the ground so it's very clever species to know that if a grant cost calls cause a lot of erosion what this beautiful grass they will be no longer here we will be all down into the river and what means its hunger and death because there will be no drastic accommodate number of elephants are here in this particular head here we don't know what we have seen up to four or five but most of them in general they might be in the ticket movie they can be 40 50 easy on that way is one of the most beautiful species as I said earlier on I really love and understand the elephant as you can see walking slowly and listening all the time these pieces that have a very good sense of hearing not only from me they hear from their ears yes of course they do but most of the communication from the elephant because they use the sun can cause subsonic Sun that travel but the force of gravity it create waves and feelings on the legs they can hear that and able to really determine what's going on around that era what kind of this vibration means it's going to the same water hole or we're going we have to define or we have to move we have to go to the water all of that they can read that as the reason they can even feel Thunder from Far distances 100 kilometers away and start to move in the area where it's quite a lot of safety on the rest of the head itself especially in a breathing height because the youngster itself it's a fast priority from the breeding head to take care of that's reason you tend to see that if you're a youngster they want to go for water to give a certain signal or they need to Nest from the mother if the type they want to lie down they give a certain certain signal that really uh understood by the majority of the head itself and starts tend to low down the speed or let the youngster lie down and resting after while they get up and move in order to really Max them more comfortable it's unbelievable and these guys all the time we are aware that we read quite a lot of the elephant it's not a story they really protect the youngster so never ever set foot where the breeding head of elephants are hoping that they will run away from you they are going to protect their youngster and you never know if they decide to protect what's going to happen in most cases people get hurt people get killed is on that way from elephants a lovely and beautiful species now let's take this opportunity from this bring out of elephanta moving to the south over to Cedric and see what is up to thank you Rex and last that you got those elephants outside and uh well we are still heading in an easily Direction it's slow right from one of the dams on the northeastern corner of uh Juma I thought maybe try to follow up on some of these uh lions that were around here yesterday afternoon but what's nice about this so of course it is Alison's birthday today and uh can you get a money box show so what you said yeah she said that what she said now is that every time we're gonna find a lion or a lion we will have a lion cupcake see it's got a beautiful little lime cupcakes and if we find a leopard we'll have the leopard cupcakes the leopard print cupcakes how nice is that so I'm hoping that we find leopards and lions all over uh this morning because I can see BK is licking his lips and he's loving it ready for these amazing cupcakes so yes Morgan we will Logan if you or Gwen of course our directors in Johannesburg if you do find a leopard online then we shall send these cupcakes to you but it's gonna happen what's gonna happen beautiful we'll eat it for you yeah exactly I love it love it but yeah so let's see if we can find a pride of lines we've got like what six cupcakes now we do apologize about the Mist on the lens as you know it is a very I'm going to say damp morning so of course must kind of forms against the lens area so yeah you can see BK is trying his utmost best to wipe at ends all right so let's continue let's continue let's see um so I might actually slowly head back West once you get to the boundary and head back again that side to see if maybe that leopard did not come down on Central Road Rex has got some elephants it is wonderful we will make a turn as well at the hyena Den so I think Allison will also love to go see if any of the hyenas are around all right well we are going to continue a little bit this side and uh comb through the Eastern area of Juma let's head back to rexen to see what's happening with those elephants great from Cedric we're still with this Alexander Africana my best favorite animal here and the Conservancy of humor oh in Greater Cleveland Park in general the reason why I mentioned Juma quite a lot this is the area that uh really I grew up and know all these animals around here and while I was a young boy I used to work here um moving from one area to another studying a lot about this animal behavior so I've been in the high highest standard of learning tracks and the best university in my life is to do practically learn about behavior of the species by following them and observing them all the time if you look at these guys that's not only by Show the movie all of them I believe that they're moving in the same direction although we cannot see the rest I can hear them more decide of our roadmoto our right there's an elephant just be behind there I'm not sure whether I can really see it with all this elephant in a bleeding head or in a British society when it comes to um a matriarch is it's a female that is really experience it could be very old and being a metric it can be something that can pass on to degeneration tonight it can be inherited from the uh actually a metric it can be a daughter of a matriarch that all the time it teaches the Matrix or young star or queen whatever might call it to really knows the old skills how to head the whole head into the area sometimes you can see that it's not have to be an old old female it could be and female two female that really take a status on the head itself it could be one youngster or one old one so you can be inherited from your mother because taught you is same as you are the traditional healer it's something that you can pass on to your child or your daughter if you want to and learn all these uses of the medicine and roots and debugging and cry as perhaps that you want to teach exactly the same this skills to be a matriarch it's just something that really you can take it from anywhere it's a skills that you can pass on to the generation to the nest that's the reason uh a daughter for a queen is always uh near to be a quick friendship of her mother because he knows how to deal with the matters and how to deal with that kind of a throne how things works exactly the same with an elephant you tend to see that a metric will be always taught her on daughter and able to lead if she die laughing the leaves up to 65-75 wait a minute [Music] thanks to our wonderful wild Earth explorers wanderth kids is back your monthly subscriptions have allowed us to relaunch Wildwood schools on a weekly basis every Wednesday for the first hour of the sunset Safari you guys bring a smile to my face every single day sign your class up for a special virtual field trip to Africa because touching the lives of the future Protectors of our Earth three matters [Music] [Music] thank you [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] look at that I believe that in most cases an elephant is one of the Cornerstone that we have in the area you know that if you look at the nature balance of course in the surrounding elephant plays a role it's really really really important of course and also these species that are able to help other species to create shadows and create and far more grass of course don't forget on that if you look at around the elephant many trees that been pushed God yes what age does the elephant start to breed mature enough to start to breathe let me say this is a very good question to read this book tell you this you read another book tell you that you read a book tell you this what all about with that it will be safe for you to have this experience it's defined how healthy that particular female of course if you look at the from the age of um some of them age of seven but some of them that can start in the age of between five and six it depends how healthy is that particular in most cases up to nine and seven ah let's take the opportunity I of hyena that Cedric got somewhere else let's enjoy the hyena from the elephant oh we got a lot of hyena activity you can see this one Hyena's got a rib sorry I do apologize about the vehicles looks like uh I'm sure maybe these lines might have killed you last night and these hyenas are just eating the scrap but this is ribbon of course you've got ribbon yeah as you can see without the title so I do apologize about the Mist on the lens again so it is quite a domestic morning lots of hyenas ribbon and then we've got another one yeah but it's not no it's just odd and this is looks like swazi no then it says in the belly yeah it's very difficult you'll see we're gonna just try and wipe the lens again yeah I think we just have to write there was a cool key that's cool key now and you're talking about just early on look how strong those jaws are just going through the bone but there's nothing there no wow to see that all coming down to this kill side okay let's go forward here all right we're gonna go into the where the kill is you want to see what's what's happened here I saw one of the hyenas running off with the who for Buffalo who I can see I'm sure the Lions made a kill yeah and these hyenas uh chased him off so yeah we're just gonna try and get somehow a good position here it's gonna be very difficult to see the bubble is almost practically done man yo I'm just gonna duck and you can see it looks like a female buffalo of course this is exactly where the lines came up last night they came up this road and the Buffaloes came over across so I'm sure those applied killed this last night and they devoured everything but there was a big pride and plus we got so many hyenas yeah Lisa years now this is uh you know Fest at the moment it's all over so I'm not even going to try and go it looks like we've got embilu that's very closest to us I've got full Baileys so what if they didn't push the lines off the kill there's plenty of iron it's all over the show and of course typical scavenger is fantastic and they will make sure that everything is devoured except of course the skull and the horns will be pretty much anything that'll be remaining uh the rest will be finished up by the hyenas look we've got Spirit here as well is it let's proved one of the Robin's youngsters there's not much left now it's just really a bit of um meat of Flesh along the spine I know but yeah thanks Morgan good of course swazi and then the belasia it looks like missing guitar is coming in as well so yeah we got the pretty much almost the entire uh Juma Clan and uh Alison is very psyched about seeing oh these ones around here listen nasty Cinema aren't they I haven't seen them for so long yeah exactly exactly the same likewise so wow this is more like we've got a winter coat on yeah I think it's perfect and last fluffy ones around it yeah I think the bells is also Morgan I fully agreed I think Morgan said this is so special for your birthday that you deserves that you need it you need to devour like these cupcakes now maybe that's a high in the truck that one I think it is I in a track yeah I think you're right I think you're right it is high in a check then all those cupcakes will be finished we'll be like hyenas on the cakes I'm not too sure exactly where these lines have pushed off so I might have gone a little bit further east into torture it but we will find out sooner or later oh let's run it got a nice piece looks like you can see such strong Jaws I got it he's got a jaw of the Buffalo half a jaw [Music] look how they use that side of those Motors that's just such a powerful jaws that muscle around the jaw area one of the strongest bite forces here of the Predators I don't want to share that Joel doesn't want to share at all I know what I passed says nine hyenas here so far I'm sure there was more and I mean Reuben was here as well one of the other females behind us Cara I'm not too sure exactly the age of uh Robin I can always just double check on that um as I say that's rubbing mouth maybe somebody else can help on uh sorry Morgan so let's you can just see how quickly that is has been eaten out I mean I think that as I said that Buffalo was killed last night so that's pretty much done mid 2013 okay so it'll be like 10 10 years old eh ribbon it was nice to see Corky there as well so that was last concert now but she was did could you see a little bit earlier I was at youngster days is very light of course is a swazi one of the female of the Juma Clan of a cup of swazi of course two females that is hanging around here uh two sisters and I'm just trying to see if we can find them again let's see that one favorite with female not too long ago yes that's for you that's because what's happening with the Lions coming because they're all running they're all bolting something gave him a Friday I thought sometimes like when that happens it might be a might have been a line that was approaching a male line or something but they're all running they come oh yeah comes Lions yeah on the left here comes limes Here Comes lines they're coming straight to you yeah here comes the Lions I wonder hey just as I call that I wanted to say with that kind of yeah yeah it comes out for a female she's coming in what is she gonna do she's going to try and chase them away oh she comes here she comes she's coming to the kill ing to inspect oh my word I don't know which female this is I just see the one female so far so the one line is different enough Pride I don't know maybe it could be from the embali Edison what a present day it is amazing hey it just shows how things can change up so quickly sitting and but as I how quickly did those hyenas pick up on that uh I knew that there was trouble in there too all right but now do you think there's more there might be more lines coming this side I'm just double checking do you see something foreign female stranger to see her by herself like this that's why I would have thought they would have been the rest of the pride coming through we shall see I will say let's see what the other things play out here and you'd think now the hyena is because she's alone that the hyenas will actually turn against her now and try and push her off because you know that's more than one line another different story but because she's alone I think the owners will come back and take that chance and try and see if they can push her away from the kill but they might turn again they might come back wow yes he's just sniffing around I can see her tummy's not full so I don't know he's definitely not part of the pride that killed the Buffalo originally so I'm sure there were some gumas with the mark and them oh Annabelle says yep bring out the cupcakes oh so you didn't like in the tickets we all have to try and reposition you know Morgan um see we're gonna try and see what we can do here wow what a change in thing everything just changed up so quickly there everybody left everyone just yeah maybe we'll have to push all right sometimes Rusty does this camera he'll come right there it goes right great uh from Cedric hyena that line shows off we have this elephant now at the moment you look at that elephant is now leaving Slowly by show and heading to the rest we're just feeding here on the season for schmuck Granata which is her Buffalo Thorn Tree that really does have a little bit of history in the area where we are and it's laughed by elephant too which it's a really amazing thing and I love the way this elephant behaving it's such amazing you can hear the elephant is just uh pulling the twigs and feeding at the moment look at the tongue very rough oh lovely this link to Cedric and see what he's up to look at all these youngsters guys this is the torture that we I haven't seen this is the Torchwood Pride because I think there is if I'm not mistaken nine Cubs nine Cubs and two females oh my word yeah sessions I've just got uh looks like the torch with schlumbing Gala has crossed over here towards uh the bomber we're going to try and reposition let's try to go back where we started it's better because they get awesome stuff around here because there's not much food all right well everyone this is amazing I haven't seen this Pride the last time I saw this Pride was many many years ago I remember the Torchwood program I used to work in Portal all right so the tortured pride is like I've got not much information I know that the Torchwood Pride um out of the Cubs I think there is if I'm not missing about mine youngsters and uh I think two or three are three females but as I said they're all Leona at the moment and all the sniffing around so we're just gonna see hang back a bit Yeah and see if he's the ones are going to come out here we're going to come out here this is amazing what a way to start Sunday morning I wanted to say I didn't recognize that female and she came in here earlier but these youngsters are hmm there's this young ones all over the show I can see that's not the most relaxed figure when it comes to the vehicles because I saw them they first came in a little bit skittish in away see this one's just sniffing around where the Cure was made without any accident lover for sure they're all wonderful kind of brilliant brilliant condition all of these little ones one two three four six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve I count to 12 youngsters here so far 12. and of course not from one female female can only have maximum four Cubs so maybe there's the three female gen each one had four youngsters and we're almost going to heat at the same time so that at least they can help each other to do allo suckling so let the Lawns no younger just still have an opportunity to cycle from a female that's producing more no I think these ones are about I think they look about eight months is it eight nine months oldies youngsters I don't know coming right up to the vehicle with inspecting how quick the things to change at this kill site Anderson we have to eat your entire box of cupcakes now this is amazing it's beautiful hey this is amazing and it's the first I haven't seen this Pride for such so many I haven't seen these youngsters of course so that is fantastic uh well the Morgan we don't have so many cupcakes we've only got six lime cupcakes so we are we will have to eat the leopard cupcakes as well on top of the line one so it's fine it's a pool so you'll just say slide pause as well yeah so it's line pause and you'll say it's got lines and line ports how's that right now okay we can do it look at this one eight nine another two eleven twelve I'd like 12 there 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 yeah 12. wow Emily oh yes oh yes indeed I think we chose the right area at the right time and uh as I said it was first hyenas eating on the kill and then all of a sudden these lines came in let's I'm just looking at these youngsters you can see they're not the most relaxed Vehicles there's another vehicle coming in at the moment and yeah it's amazing that uh because you can imagine they always in tortured or also inside the Kruger National Park so and they're not always in the Soviet sand so they'll never see really too many vehicles uh this side because they're going to Kruger because that block is very big from cyber Sands into Kruger and I mean the next road is the s36 um you know directly east into the block and then that could be maybe seven kilometers I think if I'm not mistaken seven kilometers east of the Soviet Sands boundary our healers are coming in I don't know it looked like iron inside the line all right I just thought I'd go back but there's one oh you know in the background somewhere yeah I was just the one female this is one old female yeah I don't see another old female do you see another one Peaks struggling with so much lines yeah it's just just going it's almost like it reminds me of a banded mongoose when they kind of congregate like that together tight and they're all just together all the time 10 11 12 is today wow one female and 12 Cubs I'm sure maybe the other two maybe the other females or the Torchwood Prada I've got it I've got to just take a look exactly what the the makeup of the tortured pride is I'm not too sure all right Sarah this is the iterative look they um that's why it's known as a Torchwood probably because Torchwood is about five meters behind us the property Torchwood um I'm sure they've been in this area before um this North North Eastern corner and so I'm groomers for you yesterday as well almost like an overlap of the Torchwood and Goomba territory where we are now another telemarket breakaways don't come this far uh East you see they're all licking the blood and little bits that's still on the ground here from the way the Buffalo was killed I'm not even going to go on how many male young males and yes females I'm first got to do with my current on how many lions that's my first thing you can actually hear Buffalo directly west of us now straight west they're gonna be a buffalo billowing damn side [Music] thank you [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] foreign ERS going crazy that side all right let's see if we can get in there all right we're gonna try and get out of the position here okay just try and reposition yeah something good morning good morning everybody I hope that you have had an absolutely brilliant a few weeks missing amakala we have been missing it as well but welcome back we have to start with a classic amakala view up in the northern section of amakana game reserve my name is Tess behind the camera is Morgan please welcome Morgan back it's good to have him back after so long haven't [Music] amazing to be back at the moment we're up in the northern section looking for cheaters because we were visited by a cheetah brother last night we came past our house so we are hoping still hoping that uh they're up here and we're going to be able to find them but we've missed you all I hope that you've missed the Eastern Cape I do believe my audio is sounding a bit strange although we can't seem to find the issue on our site so hopefully we can figure it out soon I do apologize for that but hopefully today is going to be a good day it's going to bring us some good luck oh I hear of all the best and there is a black with all the best somewhere fairly close by hiding behind the mushrooms no I could not you cannot but it is good to be back we have missed the Eastern Cape it is nice and cold but funny enough not as cold as the last time I was here so we are grateful for that but I think it's because we're expecting rain for the next few days there is a little bit of pretend humidity in the air well we're going to try and find the black hole best of the cheaters and I'll send you over to Chris in pridelands to see what he's up to so we've made our way up to the Northern parts uh so far no tracks of any cats and that's okay we will work with what nature provides and this guy's this beautiful scene with this hood of Impala and I also like us very very cold at the moment and they just utilizing a little bit of the Sun you can even see the coloration is a bit darker than usual and what happens is the individual hairs especially those on the back when they lie flat they're out there and parts of the tips of those are lighter in color than the base of the individual hair let's so when it's warm they basically lie them flat like very smooth they've got more of a shine and that can reflect Heat it's called like this they raise the hair much like when we have Goosebumps so that reveals the darker underlying color of the base of the hair of the fur or you know hair basically it's not refer and that will absorb heat and then more importantly it traps a layer of air closer to the skin which acts as insulation combined with standing in the Sun it will help to warm them up because they can't just quickly put on a jacket we have to because we don't have all that hair our hair is inefficient in warming us up in the same manner and just a warm welcome back to Tessa show you how to fantastic time oh on leave looking forward to be working with Tessa again Trend coming past some yes indeed Impala's always look clean and elegant I like the athletes of the antelope world as well very agile extremely agile creatures and they do groom themselves them they they like most um Antelope and bovitz they uh only have incisor teeth on the bottom jaw none on the upper jaw only molars but in the corner lateral incisors they are very long and there's three or four of them there are space very close to each other with relatively sharpish tips structured almost like a comb they call them combed teeth and they use that to to basically groom parts of their fur getting rid of dust particles deaths hair cells dead skin and actually well every now and then see that looks like they're licking their shoulders but that's not what they're doing they're actually combing their hair and sometimes you'll find Aloe grooming where two individuals will stand basically with their faces close to each other's hindquarters and they'll Grim the others where they can't reach by themselves like the neck and those areas for instance they cannot do it themselves it also helps to get rid of parasites to a certain degree so just like us that you maintain their hair have to conscious leave it actually heard one of them coughing now and they can also get things like colds they're mammals even though they have immunity systems probably much more stronger and efficient than ours they can still get diseases the biology is based on the same rules to a large degree right nothing nothing standing out here where these Impala we're going to move on to another spot in the meantime let's head over to Cedric ajuma foreign yes we are still here with the Torchwood pride and they're still busy feeding on the remains of this Buffalo kill as you can see they are just busy Mooring away on the skull trying to get all the lost a little bit of Flesh of that skull and these little youngsters seems like they're very young a lot of uh oh a bit of fighting you can see that really a little bit of tension between them but that's typical with lions once they start eating on a kill you'll find there's always a lot of pouring and biting but make sure they won't try and injure each other to try and get into the best spot for something to eat and that is always important especially the youngsters another one in as I said I only see the one female so far um so I'm not too sure exactly how many females are in the Torchwood Pride a lot of snail in that side there's no table manners when it comes to fluted lines sounds like the Buffalo is still a little bit further away from where we are maybe moving into this direction but I'm still trying to figure out how many miles and how many females here it looks like a young variety but this is a young male that's got his head up there now I can just see a little bit of the main starting to get that little bit of fur on the side of his neck on this chest area they're not old enough to hunt at all Zane I think these Cubs are only about eight nine months 10 months like 10 months something like that let us talk the whole check on that but yeah I'm not old enough they will just follow Mom all the mothers and aunties when they had to go hunting they might just observe on what they do because these females will have to bring something substantial down you can imagine once these Cubs get to an age of about a year and a half to two years and then of course the appetite is increases and well I think a big buffalo is going to be almost like I'm gonna say a minimal a minimum to uh I can say size prey for these Lions especially with the big Pride once they get to about one and a half two years old then it's going to be interesting but now really the appetite is quite high you can see them really fighting over a little bit of Flesh that's around on the skull there's a little bit of a branch here now this you know I was it was funny I was actually going to ask you BK if you're going to try and jump out there and take my nail clippers and just going to clip that Branch here for us no you don't want to thank you am I am I am irons as well I'm on the steering wheel I've got to make sure that we get away in time it's just a little round leaf tea but it's fine let's pick it up that's fine nice but you can see how they they are tucking in in that thing I don't think there's gonna be a piece of meat that's going to be left over on that skull I can imagine if they have to bring down a Impala I can imagine just a little Impala between all of them [Music] there's going to be a lot of clawing and pouring but that is the um but after the meal then they're all big buddies again yeah [Music] I've got another one coming in no this one's decided nope I'm not gonna be part of that I'd rather go and be on the other side be separated don't need to be here continue okay so we are up at our Viewpoint and we are scanning and panning for cheaters at amakala Gamers who have done in the Eastern Cape I'm really hoping that the boys are still around somebody has just called in tracks one of the other guides but the tracks are coming this way so I think those are the tracks from when they came this far north last night so I'm really really really hoping that the cheetah boys are around somewhere we are still looking for that Blackville the Beast as well he sounds like he's right here but we can't seem to spot him so we are going to be moving on just now we're gonna go down the the hill so we'll lose signal for a bit when we go down there so we're not going to do that right now we'll do that later and then we're going to go across to the other side on the crests and have a look all along there that's one of the cheetah hot spots here at amakala they have their little spots that they really like to rest and that's pretty normal for territorial cheaters they've got areas they feel comfortable and that's where they'll stay so I'm hoping we're gonna get lucky I have missed them a lot it's always nice to be able to catch up with a coalition of cheetahs quite consistently and Morgan hasn't seen them in what six weeks more yeah so I mean we really really really want to see them we saw one of them last night the other two gave us a bit of a wider Loop they didn't want to come and say hello but that's fine I'm sure they're all together the tracks that they called in were all three together coming north but it is a beautiful day we have got a pretty high chance of rain today and I'm actually quite grateful for that because it's supposed to rain between safaris which is very handy doesn't affect us which is nice and uh it means that it's not as icy this morning but it also means the animals might be a little bit more active pretty good weather for odd wolf Aardvark Brown hyena all the Rarities as well but also exceptionally good for any Predators so the cheaters the Lions and especially things like elephants too so let's hope our first day back at amakala is going to be a successful one I think it will be but what a gorgeous view to start our journey back Morgan quickly quickly and quickly quick link all right guys the the Torchwood pride has just ran off here um because apparently Mohawk and those other four males that was uh that we saw last night they are coming here now and that is going to be very very dangerous for those clubs because those clubs do not belong to Mohawk and uh so we're just going to double check yeah okay movement I see movements at the back there so now that's what that female uh with her those 12 Cubs have just bolted yeast back into Torchwood and we're gonna we can just see a little just at the back because they're coming now they'll pull in there now they're moving a slightly towards us we're just gonna keep still here is it is it females there looks like it's females maybe from them gumas maybe then kumas just coming down the side again but clearly that female with the tortured part itself they got a fright and they ran straight East back into torture into another property all right then it looks like not too sure exactly what Pride's coming out so it looks like this is almost like a drive-through at the moment I'm just gonna go it's going to be a little bit patient yeah because apparently Mohawk and His Four Sons is not far from you they just uh uh a crows fly maybe even 200 300 meters west of us and foreign just take a look at these females not too sure which females of these are now wow wow wow sitting in one spot like this and you get pretty much two parts of lions coming in there and I won't be surprised if those males don't come this side as well and the problem is if Mohawk and his sons come in here now and with those youngsters Lizzy feeding on this kill you know because they're not part of that Pride at all the torch would apply them not part of them groomer pride and there's no genetic uh link there um those males will kill uh Cubs if they had to get hold of them that's why that Tremont took them away here very quickly just double checking on that I want to jump to anything for now I'll just see three three lionesses one two older girls and one young one Allison what a morning I couldn't and yeah yeah uh of course now they're just investigating now listen to these two these three few months they're just coming to investigate exactly the area from where those other lines were hanging around I can see full bellies so they must have they must have made the kill could see them they've got full Baileys these females you can see the hyenas are still lurking around in the background oh hoping that they can get that opportunity opportunity to come back here Linda it has been an awesome morning with these Alliance uh or just just in general from the hyenas to one pride of lions coming in that pride of lions got chased Away by them groomer Pride so yes it has been an amazing morning wow what a Sunday near the stream of contact calling Now quickly yeah no definitely Jordan I think I can imagine that telemarti a breakaway now actually not the time about the in barley pride of them Bali pride comes in here now after the the encomment we would have had three uh Prides of lions at one sighting well two's enough as it is I think oh the whole what is happening at the backyard this yeah well they're all coming this side now that's it again I just apologize about the area of fun but looks like the this young there's 12 youngsters are coming back again with a female now I'm confused maybe there might be part of the well maybe that might be the rest of them oh no no it's not that's not um I'll show you uh this is very dangerous for these ones that's why that acted very aggressively there trying to build a very now let's try and go out that side if you try going through a road it's gonna be better those youngsters were actually going to come in there you're there the young one wanted the other exactly unless I met one that one youngster wanted to come in and uh realized oh although this is not the my pride yeah and that's why that female acted so aggressively so these two parts isn't bloomers and then of course the torture Pride yeah it's it's not trying to make sense here at the moment so we're all trying we're all trying foreign [Music] [Music] [Music] female wasn't too happy with that cub but you can see they all just standing on the one side of the road and of course in kumas are on the other side where the kill is she's going back again she's gonna go back and try and investigate yes it is definitely a lot of mouths to feed what do you move oh my God she is going getting into that direction again let's see what happens here again she's gonna go straight there um I know that side I was just gonna go back that side I'm just gonna go back into there just gonna take a look huh yep let's just take a look Wow Let's see what happens here because now they're approaching those other live nurses do you think anything there oh there's a stop stop yeah sorry Morgan go with Melinda's and she's approaching uh which my line is affiliated with the tortured Pride well uh I think it is woof not very much I'm not too sure um I think it might be the Kruger mail if I'm not mistaken it might be the Kruger male but as I say I'm not I'm not too I'm not too familiar with the tortured Pride so I I will not be able to give you a really exact uh understanding on that let's go to that side unfortunately Rusty it seems like you doesn't want to do too much this morning yeah that's I think that's the next that's the next step but where is another female now that was so is that they like disappear now because it's just these young scissors come on I'm trying to figure this all uh scenario out because clearly she feels confident enough bringing her these youngsters back to the kill it looks like this other lionesses have disappeared I think they might have moved back to wherever they came from ah okay thanks Mom Morgan so two sons of the muffin mushroom males is associated with the pride okay I've never seen them before I know about the muslimately males I think they both passed away um so yeah they were beautiful boys I know they actually came in from the previous side but I've never seen their sons so it would be very interesting to see those males come into this area that'll definitely stir up a lot of things then your lighting Dynamics will be quite interesting especially if it's two boys coming in there from the East and you've got the black Dam males coming in from the north so yes well the black diamonds are now more in the south of Juma and into Hoffman's and one of monologue area ah Kathy Lee yes I think and from now on Alison is going to be driving with me every single day I think Amazon bought those cupcakes a birthday she's brought the luck I think that is what it's all about is Alison um I will tape you to the vehicle I don't think I could have a heart attack this morning has been special yeah it's been special it has been amazing and I would have thought that this female would have ran with these clubs far off you know especially that other Lions approached the signs somebody come in here there's another one coming something coming they're moving there at the back might be high you know quality from my side but uh maybe the liner coming through but the problem is if it's uh the males it was like my Hawk and those four boys the males or males and so it's quite amazing how quickly these pick up on the others come in long before we see it it is but even like you look at the hyunas as well yeah how quickly did those hyenas pick up that there's a female line approaching I mean we didn't see that and they and they just scattered and then the same thing with them with those other lines that approached the tortured Pride yeah it is it shows that their senses are so so cute I mean the sense a small sense of hearing I don't even have to see it I just hear it on that mm-hmm uh his youngsters Jamie that's what I said with the thought you know that this female would have taken these youngsters away from the danger and rather head away because I mean really staying behind here for this little bit of meat that's left over on this uh Buffalo caucus is it really worth it but then again we can't really think for them you know she's got her other she's got her ideas come on I've been in these small cups message from my brother oh that's fantastic of course Alison's brother just gave her a beautiful message I love the cupcakes I have seen you on that here you need more cupcakes I think for those you'll need a truck full of cupcakes how much better can a birthday get definitely exactly yeah wonderful but that will be finished that I'm sure this female will move a very short I think she's just gonna see how much meat is left on this car because as I feed a little bit and then move away from here yes it seems like a story from a West Side Story I think it is or was it was sort of West End West Side there's a West Side okay west side is like a soapy no it's a it's a movie of two rival groups uh and one falls in love with a male of the other and they can't be together because the family you know the groups hate each other okay actually oh it sounds like they're the worst Side Story yeah go and take a look at that yeah although what it is I think it is so much the Dynamics and it's it's amazing that like all of a sudden you get these ones coming in out into Juma um I wonder what is uh I'd love to know the sightings of the Torchwood pride and how far west they have got into Juma and what's the furthest west um I think if I'm not mistaken there has been a sighting of them uh towards bifflezig Dam Area I think it might have been during the time when there was a dead buffalo that was outside yes it could be but I wasn't yeah Denise yes I'm sure of all these Cubs survive it'll be a fantastic not Coalition but also pride and Coalition it depends on how many males are in uh you know in this uh in this lot here you know these 12 youngsters I mean it might be four it might be five it could be just one and eleven females you know but I think I've counted already one or two three males so yes it's gonna be a fantastic violation Plus on top of that it's gonna be a brilliant prize of course the females will remain with the pride when they grow up so of course it just strengthens The Pride completely and it is fantastic when that does happen for these these cats there's another oh so sociable not too sure what exactly and those four young boys haven't heard this commotion they would have definitely picked up on uh little ones growling at each other foreign she came in the first she was the first one coming in chasing those hyenas off and when I looked at her it's like it's just perfect she's got a beautiful face beautiful face behind us here see you then I'm not too comfortable with the vehicle no but the the thing about the the I think the Torchwood Pride they spent us a lot of time in the Kruger Park so going into the Kruger Park got it you know there's a big block there's a big block there but there's no roads there you know from the boundary towards the s36 um it's it's quite a big block so if they're going to spend there for like a week two three weeks without seeing a vehicle you can understand why all of a sudden they see a safari vehicle but they're not I've seen I've seen when I was in quarter I used to see a lot of uh like the prize coming in from the crew guide you could always pick up it's a good Kruger lines she's not even touching it she's just letting them nibble she's leaving the little ones eat yeah there's nothing quite like a campfire the crackle of wood the scent of bushwillow it's warm glow sign up to be an Explorer and curl up to converse with your side doesn't it whose eyes look very very exhausted oh my goodness Ox Peggy is almost the size of that invada's head be gentle slow still learning here we go getting another spot so that the Impala can't often reach right near where the horns is just starting to push out oh that's beautiful oh it's a little one it's a juvenile and it's also joining the party waiting for somebody to feed it yes Flappy feathers oh shame I can't get rid of them even though you leave me I don't go there shame little one you might have to Buck and ridge be able to get those birds off holding on nice and tight to your fluffy fur joining us we are on the Qatar heading to the east looking for anything that might be we can see lots of tracks of hyena coming from the East we'd like to apologize they're losing Cedric it's a technical problem I believe that he'll be back very shortly on that era with the pride of lines that are really moving in that area of the hyena interaction I believe that it's going to be okay again it won't be smart you'll be back let's try to see here what we can see and what we can read it's only hippopotamus tracks you know hippo I love them they move at night and in a very cold weather moving out and doing grazing there's something that cross the road I might see when I get close what might be with the trucks it could be small a sort of a carnivore it could be you never know the spot is Janet sometimes but generates are all sleeping but it's time and nocturnal species it could be water thickly or Franklin I was looking directly the other side trying to check if I can see something on the side of the road very important going down towards the drainage line like on the bank maybe you're about to get to see dingling their feet up in a tree and they can able to see that something that cross here what bee like a small thing of course maybe water thickness as I said let's move around the area and having expectation of it can be wild dog at any time because they're in the area it can't be Milwaukee but if you move oh and why don't we go over to cheetah and see if we can find something there yeah look like it's been a while there was no leopardy chitra could be a great decision now if we can go out there myself and Owen and look around and cheetah water we're still far it's gonna take us some couple minutes of this there's something outside of the termite monthly I'm not sure whether it's uh catching my eye oh no it's one of the three that snap off pushed by elephant it looks like the yellowish color it seems like a leopard enjoying the energy from the Sun it's just visible on the side of the termite month and it's well perfect place you might disorientated if you look at it you think it's something that is moving if the vehicle is moving at the same time I nearly spotted that slime or leopard movie there to place in a very perfect child position you know when you move the car if you're desperate to see something you touch the small tempered mind or stump of a tree is moving at the same time wow this is the area most of time find the leopard tracks while we're moving to the east let's take this opportunity and link to Andrew in my degree yeah good luck there Rickson and good morning good morning everybody it seems that you've all had your hands full with some amazing sightings there Juma very very nicely done very good morning to everybody hi there everybody hope you're all doing well and you had some great sightings so far my name is Andrew by the way and then behind the camera is in poor and we've been exploring medikra this morning and so far we've found some Cape glossy starlings amongst other things of course but uh for the most part it's been a fairly quiet morning out here in the northwest of South Africa very cold this morning we woke up this morning and we headed off yeah it was called very very very chilly but it's starting to warm up nicely now and we're seeing a bit more movement of some of the animals and then of course the birds Cape glossy starlings they seem to be fairly common out here in medikue and they seem to be coming in all the areas that I've been to in South Africa so it just goes to show that again Cape glossy stylings being a very successful specie of bird aren't they pretty hey look at those colors beautiful iridescent shine and that is a result of the the sunlight hitting the bird and then this iridescent shine being emitted beautiful shine really is is beautiful very difficult to sexually dimorph them if you want to tell the difference between a male and female you can have a tough time with a species of bird now we've noticed that there are quite a dominant species and often you know when there's a food source usually you find that if there's a bird party that it's the cape glossy Starling that is really dominating that food source Richard greetings back to you thank you for that and you say this is your favorite colors well there's a good few colors that you find on the cape glossy styling it depends on the angle so if we had to drive forward and turn the vehicle we would see different colors at the moment what we're seeing what I'm seeing with my naked eye oh there's a bearded woodpecker calling now anyway um I'm seeing sort of this uh this blue shine but then as soon as you get different angles you get like a darker blue a purple um a darker purple and so on iridescent shine beautiful really it's pretty ah and poor look at this little subota lock in the road that's so cool there's a little so boats alike just giving us a little surprise this morning standing right in the middle of the road not sure if you can hear that bearded woodpecker yeah sorry about that important there we go I'm not sure if you can hear that bearded woodpecker says sound and they're one of the smaller woodpeckers that you can find out here you'll have also a tough time looking for them they as soon as you see them they fly off and they're gone once they've gone so bota likes they are fairly common Archer as well in the grassland areas they like to to walk around they cross the roads they're walking in the bush so they're very very active birds in this area okay good one yeah this is really awkward for you and Paul I hope your gyro is well well oiled there look at this little guy just enjoying himself here in the open road so you know a lot of the seed content and things like that that this bird is going to eat it's gonna see it on the road but it's more insects that this Bird eats small little insects and that's quite right uh Morgan one of our directors saying and poor needing to do some gymnastics over here but yeah we're gonna watch these Cape glossy Starlings I'm surprised I'm very very surprised that these two have stayed here for so long birds are very difficult to get on camera that's one of the challenges archers definitely Birds and it's just something about the camera we're not just noticing it with the camera that we're using but also with photographers um you know in the past I've taken photographers on Safari and the minute they raise their camera or we point this camera towards them they don't like it they fly away and I wonder if it's got to do with you know from hunting back from hunting maybe it's deriving from that so the action of you raising your camera is almost like an action of you raising a rifle or a weapon of sort now there's no hunting archer in the north west or not not yet madiko at least but you know birds from far back in time they have learned that this action could mean trouble look at them there's also some impilers down the road all right good one we're gonna Carry On We're nice and warm now we're quite glad that we got a chance to stop here and Son we're gonna send you back to Chris let's see what he's busy with foreign ly finally we've managed to find lions two young males from The ingati Pride and they are quite sizable they some of the older ones the first ones that managed to move away from the pride these two boys are sticking together at the moment they're quite sizable already a bit too young yet to try and compete for territory but they're getting big give them another six months to a year I bet that they will be able to compete they're not small they're much bigger than their mothers already typical Behavior now these two well they either going to be brothers or they will be related since they are from the same Pride so they will be brothers or cousins or half Brothers but they will be blood related which means if they do form or stay in a coalition eventually they can hold out until they're big enough they would be a very tight group in terms of their relationship non-related males can form collisions but we have seen that those coalitions are not as cohesive in terms of the bond between them if they are genetically liberated especially when they are brothers the bond between Coalition members are usually quite strong and that's very likely what will happen to these two if they can manage to avoid the big miles in the area for enough times for them to escape from the area and then as they grow further in the next six months to a year they will have to um they will have to dodge other lions as well as they move around big males Fiona yup gut burn strikes again finally starting to lose form here and we got them um Panda can you see the other mail as he's lying down our gecko so there are two of them the ones just lying down behind this very old termite mount which to us just appear like a little bump that it is an ancient termite Mount covered in grass it's been weathered down by elements not active and this is very likely the lions that we heard roaring and calling last night there you go I saw the one when he stood up now they they're getting body they're starting to look like male lions bar domains that will come in time they're gonna have scruffy Mains like this until such time that they physically take over an area I'm relieved that was my plan this morning to find lions and we finally finally managed I think I'll try and see if we can't get another angle on them so we've had no luck with the cheaters but we have found a family of three jackals this is the only one we can see at the moment but the other two are here somewhere so we're hoping if we're patient they're gonna come out this is a black-backed jackal you can see the grass around it is still sopping wet with Dew it almost looks like frost because it's so white but it is actually Dew drops Jekyll is looking for the other two they're off to the right somewhere so I wouldn't be surprised if it's going to trot off there we go Trot off into the bushes looking for its friends hoping that if we stay still that they are going to come back out we're not going to move at the moment because we know that they are here and the longer we sit still the more they come out but you can see it is quite thicker there's a whole lot of sweet Thorns this is a pretty good area for giraffes sometimes elephants as well the jackals really like it too because there's a lot of little termite mounds and things that they can burrow in that have been dug out by aardvarks and where did the others go there was one further to the right that has disappeared but a gorgeous area regardless it really I can hear quite a few Birds calling I haven't actually seen any other than an ant eating chat only I think it's still a bit cold for the birds to be out and about but you can see I mean these clearings are just perfect all these little gaps in between the thorn trees the nice Short Grass this is great for the jackals and the birds this early in the morning yeah they were there I don't know where they're gone I'd imagine it's probably a family so two adults and probably some form of sub-adult that's ready to leave almost or maybe he's going to stick around and help with the next litter that would be cute but you can see why they would like this area nice open spot to eat some rodents try and find some breakfast they've probably been out in about most of the night and they'll be sticking around this area they'll be dinning here somewhere they'll be quite territorial one of them I think in this area is that short-tailed female although I didn't see her here come on jackals please come on out would be so nice I really want to see the black back jackals again but the nice thing with amakala I suppose is they really are a lot of them probably one of my favorite families is the one that we see on those big open clearings and in fact Morgan and Don were lucky enough to see that family Denny those Jackal packs they were and then right next to the road and absolutely gorgeous so I don't know if you guys remember Don done has been a naturalist on wild Earth he's from Woodbury Woodbury is absolutely fantastic by the way so if you are looking to come and stay at amakala my recommendation go to Woodbury yeah first place Morgan stadia first place I stayed here actually as well back in 2016 I visited Woodbury absolutely fantastic it's um Morgan and Don were really lucky they saw the jackals with tiny tiny pups and got to watch them grow up and that's the same family that I met just if probably a generation or two later very very nice to watch jackals running around early in the morning maybe we'll get another view just now I'm hoping that they're going to come back out oh yeah can you believe it literally as our director said live life literally at that second that line put down his head in the grass Murphy is never far behind when you're in the bush they'll left their head soon they still around both of them uh We're not gonna go anywhere we'll we'll stay with them for quite some time as I do suspect that they are going to to move a bit once it warms up probably find some shade I was I was that was not a good move from there man Alexandra wants to know how does the hierarchy work in a collision now Alexandra um so if you look at lion males when they form collisions could be two males here three males could be four males I've seen collisions of up to six so basically within a coalition like that there there will be a dominant hierarchy so let's take an example uh when I was in eastern Kruger we had a collision of four males uh in and around in 180 area there and it was very clear that the four of them there was one mile that more dominant then there's like a second third and fourth ranking Mill what will happen if there's a within the price that they associate there's a female in eastruss if all four is present at the same time the most dominant will met but if at the same time he's mating with one female another female goes into stress number two will go the same if this multiple females but what you have these collisions they do split up momentarily to cover their territory more efficiently uh in that case they might find females that are in heat or in distress and whoever is present one or two or three or four the most dominant at the time in that hierarchy of depending on who's present will then do the matting but I've seen cases of multiple males mating sometimes even with the same female one guy might go and drink water number two will come in and made with the same female at that same time that can happen and in fact that litter could have different fathers if it's within that collision and one or two or more males is mated with the same female that is possible remember that lionesses cats in general ovulate upon copulation which means one OEM is released now while copulating a day later another male mates with that female so in the same letter you can have different fathers it is possible let's see if these guys are not willing to lift their heads so yes uh even though a collision of lion males are a tight-knit unit any Cubs sired by any of the Coalition members will be protected by all of them as if it was their own it's like a genetic investment even if your brother saw at Cubs in a pride you will protect them as and interact with them as if they your own because within that Collision they share similar genetics so it's about the genetics of the Collision that needs to be propagated that's our iron males work in a collision that's why most of these coalitions are mostly very closely related males that shares a lot of genetic similarities so as a group where that's two or four Lions they will collectively as a group protect that genetic investment in the form of their cubs at least until they are sap adults and that's the job of my alliance so my to the females and have a presence and make sure that no foreign males enter the area that's not part of their group because there'll be a threat to any Cubs side by the act of Coalition right enough about lions for now we're going to wait until these guys raise their head again let's head back to Andrew at Montague ah Chris well done you found some lines as well very very nice job yeah we feeling a little bit left Archer and I won't lie uh I know you all had your hands full with some awesome sightings in Juma and so we are going to point the camera at anything we can find this morning so we can also show you some of the beautiful medikra Gamers if look at these animals nice group of Impala and then uh there's now you can see a few of all the beers still there blue will the Beast and they're just about to disappear into that uh sickle Bush Thicket over there beautiful wow did you hear that import what on Earth was that noise was an elephant my goodness we just heard an elephant scream in the distance it sounded almost like a like a dinosaur what a sound that was I don't think you would have heard that and there it goes again whatever it is is very upset about something I think it's worth investigating in in a few moments but why are we just listening we're still gonna watch these Impala aren't they beautiful Antelope say Impala they are very beautiful you look at the Rams out here the ram Impalas are ginormous not in body size but the horn length the distance between the tip or either tips of the horns with the Impala archa and medikue I'm actually very surprised and maybe when Ben comes back next time he can sort of touch base on it but when I came here for my first end with wild Earth um I relieve Ben so Ben did a thorough hand over with me and we're driving through the reserve and I said to him stop stop stop go back go back go back and you went back I'm like look at that Impala and he's looking at me it's like are you serious like we need to move here and I was like no but look how big they are and he's like ah okay cool because he also noticed that the minute he arrived at medikra as well it's fascinating to see such big horned impilers so it must be clear that the genetics nice and strong here and I can understand why and there's lots of competition Archer which we know strengthens the genetics they're competing with all sorts of things other Impala they're competing with wild dogs they're competing with cheetah leopard lion Archer spots at hyena and you know of course it is jackals and it's just amazing how genetics can be improved and strengthened when there is good competition healthy competition beautiful so it sounds like that elephant has calmed down whatever was bothering it it seems to have stopped and it sounded very much like an elephant that is sort of interacting with a lion you know when the elephant is screaming at the lion to back off I've seen it a few times you can't comprehend that scream from an elephant it is so loud we have an exciting new wild Earth prize up for grabs have you ever wanted a private virtual Wildwood Safari experience without naturalist and crew we are making that dream a reality sign up to be an Explorer before the 15th of July and you could enjoy a private virtual Safari with friends and family of your choice with either Steve Cedric or Lauren make lifelong Wildlife memories together with wild Earth laughs foreign [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] just trying to reposition a little bit better there at least we're out of the the Smith The Smelly area that's the main thing listen it seems like that window is just coming straight down from the lines to us and they were letting off a little bit of gas but as you know wild Earth's mission is to connect the world with the nature if you would like to help just pop onto our website while there's not TV click on the night button there are some private safaris if you donate 100 US dollars or more and then you'll have your choice of allowing Steve or myself Civic the golf ball of course June is to reach 11 000 US dollars if we do reach that goal our guides because some of us will show off their best Bush survival skills and then it comes aside Andrew come again yeah come come through your nose towards us you'll see the rest here telling Andrew look to this side is that better View all right so these unkumas as I said they're around about maybe 200 meters west of the Torchwood Pride and um clearly these uh these lines that we've gotten now in Kuma Pride with mile Hawk and and the rest of them um clearly they made that Buffalo kill because all of their bellies are very full like they are huge huge bellies so you can see that they had a proper meal last night so maybe that's why they moved off and came into this area come to came to have a little bit of a relaxing moment here and then I must send in I'm sure the lie you know so I said well they took that opportunity to go and feed on their buffalo carcass and then of course the tortured Pride came in and chased the hyenas off so yep what a story for the morning what a story two Prides of lines in a matter of 200 meter proximity but these lines ain't gonna move nothing you can see even mohawkies like and again picking up his head listening out but I don't think they are gonna go anyway Nancy yes yes Lions full a win for this morning for sure I mean the lines all over the show that would be great interaction as well which is nice I think all this interaction with lines and lines all the lines and hyenas it's always some action somewhere but yeah we're not going to stay here for too long because I can see their lines I want to move too much I think we will come and follow up again this afternoon as long as that uh tortured female Was Heard over those 12 youngsters as long as they stay away and do not come West to this area then they're safe for now or else maybe she needs to go back East into Torchwood and make sure that she's given herself and those youngsters enough space between this pride and the tortured Pride hmm Lions can eat a lot you can imagine that big female buffalo of about 700 kgs gone in one night Connor very possible I mean that the diner could have taken if it was if June was around there for sure didn't might have taken a robot too or maybe a leg there was one hyena that the first island we saw this morning came running past us with a hoof off the Buffalo it was quite funny so I'm not too sure but I'm sure if Junior's been at this kill this morning she might take something back to the Dan site that is very possible because there was a lot of hyenas you know so much action so much action happening there this morning I think the entire Juma Clan was there with one sighting as I said I'm not going to hang out too long we're going to start moving very shortly and uh let's see what else we can find I'm just trying to see a way out here all right let's say the other two Rex do you see what's happening on his Safari this morning great lovely we are here at the bus I mean God damn look at what we have fun for you this morning you know if we talk about the ability to do work it's energy it's all about Sun of course without the sun in your body system it cannot able to cannot able to function yes one of the species which uh it's a family of cold-blooded animal is getting energy from the sun which is water monetaries it you see how big is this uh did is really really amazing seems like it doesn't see us but uh really pretends that I cannot go into water because of course I'm now getting warm but blood circulation now starting to move water becomes very cold but this time of the year the World Watcher monitor use it they are very terrible job there are male and female leaves in the area it's seven family of course when they had in the area they use a sense of smell well they use the tank to navigate the area where they're going all the time you can see that tongue sticking out in an art in an art that is more like trying to feel what might be around in the surrounding and they use that quite a lot to collect food like you have seen them they are going for ants they can really eat meat these guys are so lucky living in a water if anything that's it they can even add small fish dead fish here they can do that if um kill something inside the water they can join the fist of course and enjoy that look at that they have a very long claw that are about for them to dig in other very fun eating eggs of other species of birds around in the area and very well known I mean hunting crocodile nests and dig and able to go for the eggs although crocodile most of time they stay in guard in the nest because they nest on the ground remember Croc it's one of the species that lay eggs that not really give birth they're laying eggs all the time the fan very Sandy spot more specially on the bank of the river and able to do other nesting and come and again they have to go on that particular area make sure that stop anything that May access the eggs they will stay and make sure that every time when they come to the water they sit on top of the eggs that gives extra warming on the eggs itself look like beautiful to welcome a flashing in the log very sporty you can see that when they got into a area where it's quite a lot of Shadow Depots we have a lot of trees they're not easy to be sport they rely on the camouflage the youngster they find a very area where it's got water lilies reads in order to really hide away from the bed of prey as far as Fish Eagle while still young the move on a Ruble from official yes very interesting shape of these uh claw look like a crocodile there's one monitor that works between the twin dams and Gary them could be the same one we have seen the trust one they were busy following the world doctor I haven't have time to Shell from um life sure I decided to stay with the crocodile they moved from one water hole to another which is they have that freedom especially in the course of a day I've seen martial eagle taking these guys quite a lot so there's raising if they see a bed of prey they will use the lock go inside the water especially that's the reason they find water lilies to to hide away from these guys and also tree that's falling in a lock as you can see on a tree underwater I mean the girl just underneath to protect themselves against this martial eagle sometimes the first size of these guys Fish Eagle go for them really easy look at the beautiful skin and look at all those markings there they're on the line look at the stripes of crocodile I mean Stripes of a zebra mean and they're similar with the crocodile of course no problem with it are beautiful it's lovely long tail it helps them to balance in the water they swim they're very fast they can run these guys with special water they can be so fast there's raising anything gets close to them they just dip inside the water and swim from one outside to another and able to be free away from anything that hunts them from the water monitor lizards this link to test with the island [Laughter] there is a gap there is a cafe awesome Island 's gone they were beautifully out in the open but of course in true animal fashion they know those sacred words live live and they disappear but I mean it really is a gorgeous spot at least with the evil and disappearing they they were really nicely backdropped by mountains in the distance with clouds still below the mountain level that's how cold it still is this morning oh they're so beautiful and we were actually really excited because the lovely director of The Voice in my ear today is Morgan another Morgan I'm surrounded by Morgan's I'm so lucky um um her favorite Antelope is actually in Eland so she got really excited in my ear as soon as we spotted them we're hoping they would stick around it was just two of them they have disappeared but the largest Antelope of all of Africa's antelopes and that's pretty cool and they were standing out in the open there with that gorgeous backdrop of the clouds below the mountains very fancy very very pretty that actually looks so unusual we've got clouds above that look like they're gonna rain and clouds below the mountain showing how cold it is it's a strange combination of both this morning there are certain Pockets where we can feel it's going to rain and in certain Pockets where it is really really cold down in The Valleys where you can see those clouds but I think I'll plan because our Island have disappeared is probably going to be to try and find them again hey Morgan probably a good idea to try and find them again I've missed Morgan everybody I really have but I think we're going to try and get up to that Viewpoint there's a Viewpoint up to Iraq that gives us a nice view down to where those Eland were headed so hopefully we managed to find them for you again all right we've made it to the ever famous bat caves here in medikwe I'm glad we came along this way um the road that basically takes us past these bat caves does lead us to one of the other roads that takes us South straight to the lodge so definitely on Route towards where we need to go but uh it's such a pleasure just to drive past these bat caves almost on a daily basis with them poor this is beautiful just look at this the the more you such a I mean your eyes are very busy constantly going from place to place to place I can see some holes in the caves and there must be all sorts of of life that comes through you over a period of time I have no doubt leopard goes in there from time to time and things like Caracol probably you'll probably find porcupine around the bottom here and of course bats apparently there are some fruit bats that are living inside there pretty I can hear it sounds like a speckled pigeon that's calling inside there and it's amazing how loud it is because the sound just echoes in that cave ah can you hear the Crimson bracelet trackers around here and on a few occasions while I've come through here I've seen elephants and giraffes at the base of these bat caves so this area does seem like a very productive area in terms of of animal movements I remember the first first time that I laid my eyes on these caves you can't comprehend because it is huge these caves are massive if you have a look uh just sort of if you cut the caves in half and you go a little bit to the left hand side there's going to be a fig tree now that's quite a fairly large fig tree and um very very big one and look at the size of that fig tree in relation to the actual size of the caves so it's a it's a good uh way of of measuring the size all right so we've just uh moved around the bump we've got the one male sleeping then now the other one is behind it in the grass flat and they tired they've been moving around very likely for a large portion of the night and this is not time to recover and the rest and conserve a bit of energy they are looking good though I must say they're not looking there's no signs of of any nutritional distress really they are looking good they probably hunting Impalas probably robbing leopards of food as well and that's something we do see of these young males when they do start moving away from their pride is that even though they are big and slightly bigger than the lionesses they still don't have that massive muscular sort of male-like build yet even though they are quite staunch but that they'll only get once they settled and that's an adaptation because once they are big males they are slower you know the big males are not the greatest at hunting but when the young collisions like this young boy starting to explore and go by themselves they still retain a bit of athleticism in order to be able to hunt because they will have to only once they settled in an area they can rely on the females for food provision because then their job is security they need to make sure that then they get their body changes into Fighting Machines rather than hunting machines except when there is a buffalo that needs to be hunted Buffalo not very fast they the strength of the big males are needed most of the time to bring them down very often they are much more efficient bringing down buffer than a lionesses because of their wake in size but this sort of like 18 months or so that they spend away on their own up to about two years sometimes longer they they remain somewhat athletic muscular but athletic and they're built and that's to be able to still hunt almost like lionesses but they will also seek out kills of leopards Chase leopards away and take the food for themselves they'll scavenge they find something dead they'll eat it Zayn wants to know if Lions sometimes hide in the grass as a hunting strategy yes they do Zane but that will be a combination of that stalking remember they're hunting groups so some of them will be hiding whilst the others might create a diversion and Chase the intended prey into the direction of the Hidden Lions so they do use that Ambush technique a lot um they see an antelope approaching their position they will also hide hopefully too loud Antelope to come very close and then explode into speed to surprise them I'm just glad we could find them lie deep in Dreamland at the moment we'll see maybe we'll get a glimpse of them standing up you never know Xavier do you herbivore species protect each other when danger approaches generally speaking no they will try and get away from it the exception there will be buffaloes within a buffalo herd they often do take on the Lions and try and prevent them from killing herd members most of the others will try and run away an art maneuver the Lions giraffe dude kick at the Lions when the lions chase them and they can cause some serious injuries I've also seen oryx standing their ground when there is no other Escape Route it's the same with Sable Antelope doesn't always work but most of these herbivores will try and Escape that will be their first instinct even Buffalo probably be prefer to a Skype rather than tiger on the Lions but they will not hesitate if there's no other option but most of the other creatures don't they will get away get out of Dodge cuddle up with them there that won't be a good idea it will bite you believe me being bitten by a lion it's not a pleasant experience because you probably won't survive it to even the lion sighting can be peaceful but essentially the females are always bigger in the realm of spiders so I think this is a gardener but I am hoping someone can clarify it what is she up to foreign Louise thinks it looks like a damsel fly I can't really see from where I am I came here a very dramatic arachnophobe very private how far I have came so with the golden orb web spiders the females are said to reach 30 millimeters in length and the meals only go up to five millimeters in length so there you have it there is a drastic size difference between male and female he looks like a tiny little dwarf in comparison to her but Aubrey's at the moment we left those lines so then groomers are still very flat uh the tortured Pride as well the finishing off that Buffalo it looks like they also went pretty much static and flat that side so I think this afternoon we will go and follow up once again on those Alliance what a morning what's uh I mean I can't I can't say anymore especially that uh it's Alison's uh a birthday today and um you know to have such a fantastic experience on your birthday it's like one of those birthdays I never forget never about you know and yeah never ever I can't even I don't even have the words say that it was so unexpected and I've never a dream to talk about ticket to dream I would never dream to see all that this morning it's amazing likewise I mean I would have never have dreamed that we were gonna have that kind of sighting this morning so yes it is thank you Cedric thank you BK yeah you're welcome there that was wonderful thanks Alison for your your uh lion luck that we had this morning I'm not just the Lions even on the hyena like just exciting luck it was fantastic sir yeah I think because someone mentioned earlier you should come on uh all the drives from now on bring all the luck I'm up for that but yeah we gotta I'm heading on to the western side now of Dumas so I'm hoping that we are gonna get some leopard luck I mean I'm not gonna ask for any more now because it's been so fantastic but the way our luck has been running this morning I'm thinking at uh it might be lucky with a a new part or somewhere which would be nice very nice yeah brilliant and it is warming up now I think I don't even know why I still got two jackets on I feel like I am cooking inside yeah it's amazing how quickly the day can heat up in this area you know just and that's a low fault going low felt weather is just phenomenal it is it's nice and cold in the morning yes it's pretty nice it's frisky but uh at least we know once that time comes out heats up very quickly Virginia you are welcome yes then I kept you on your toes and uh well I think those lines kept all of us on our toes so I can actually thank the Lions for such an amazing performance this morning I definitely read the script got it right but uh the the the the the strange part is if I'm like thinking and I mean I've seen Lions line Warfare and all that the strange part about this morning is Mohawk and especially his sons as males they did not react at all to uh the Torchwood uh Prides growling and snarling and all that because it's not far as I said it was 100 to 200 meters that's why three of them uh lionesses they went straight in to go and investigate what was happening then they realized oh there is another part that's yeah I mean I think they turned around and they went back to back to their pride again of course a little bit of a smile or two with uh with one of the Torchwood youngsters which was very brave to approach those females like that could have ended up very badly but luckily nothing went wrong man but yeah we would always think that Mohawk would have done something you would have got up and went to investigate especially a male line you would think okay listen yeah why is there growling what other females are here what are the Lions oh yeah you know going to take a look at foreign lovers I'm Holly I'm from Rochester New York and I'm a wildlife Explorer I'm also the proud and ecstatic recipient of a three-night stay at matswiri Safari Lodge in the decoy game reserve [Music] the wild Earth I want to thank you for being there I want to thank you for this wonderful prize and I'll be looking forward to seeing you shortly sign up today and you could be the one experiencing it self [Music] thank you [Music] thank you [Music] foreign these lines are they're not really very active so I think that by now they would have stood up and uh perhaps showed us a bit more face but they are just slipping which is the normal thing for Lions to do in this time of the day it's not natural well probably after this move on see if we can't find something else in the last couple of minutes you know there's also a few Safari vehicles on route that also when I get a glimpse of these Lions before they the time more time is up before they also need to start heading out so I also want to give them some space as well I'm going to share I can't really always hug everything for ourselves not that we do good ERA Sean is then Gotti Pride the only Pride on Pride lands Roshan in theory yes they are the only resident Pride although they have broken up into several small groups almost like sub Brides so we still refer to them as one product but they've got different groups now we had the breakaways and then a whole bunch of females and so forth and that's just a bit of a temporary disruption with the new males that arrived here that typically does happen and they could rejoin and assimilate back into a big Pride again or they will remain as smaller subprides that will eventually become full-fledged Prides of Their Own but probably still keep utilizing the same area and basically they won't be like Rivals they'll just brides with inner Pride within an area kind of like thing but as an official Pride the owning the only group around you are sleeping so nicely just see how deep it is in sleep at the moment not moving at all well at least we know where they are and we can always come back in the afternoon and try and get another view of them so we have found a family of warthogs we're in that big open clearing I was talking about earlier where the Jackal family normally lives the ones that Don and Morgan got to see as perhaps and I met on my first and here with Morgan actually and we're hoping we were going to find them but instead we found believe it or not relaxed warthogs this is Quite a feat let me tell you so it is actually a lucky first day back at amakala and I think this might be the same family that we saw towards the end of my last and tier two adults were mating and there were some sub adults around I think this is the same family because this is the same area so they seem to be quite a relaxed family which is a bit unusual but I'll take it anytime we can get with warthogs it's always fun especially a family that's got sub-adults they tend to be quite playful at the moment they're focusing more on breakfast which is fine playful they get pretty rough with each other when they're nudging each other around play fighting and then they get super energetic apparently it's bathroom break time as well must always constantly process the food that you eat when you're a herbivore oh that one on the right is not as sure as the sub-adults it's relaxed a bit oh they've actually gotten quite a bit bigger than the last time I saw them they are huge compared to what they were but I can definitely see they've grown a little bit it's always nice to see I'm super excited to catch up with all of the different amakala animals that we haven't seen in a while because it's always nice to see where they're hanging out what's happened since we've been away how much bigger they've gotten and I'm really hoping that we actually get to spend some more time with War Dogs because these guys are pretty cool probably one of the most Hardy herbivores that we get out here very tough they can be quite brutal as well with their tusks but they're also really calm I like how in this little bit of Morning Light the top of the warthog's mains look very blonde got that long hair coming down there next you can see it nicely on that one it's just starting to Glow now behind the head I got some really long very tough hairs it's actually a really interesting thing on the underside of a warthog skin you can actually see the hairs they're so thick oh Bushman good morning thank you so much for welcoming us back it is wonderful to be back and Morgan and I of course have missed working together hey Morgan you've missed me [Laughter] don't sound so sure no it is always wonderful we did actually see each other in between stints though to be fair we did go for a nice cup of coffee but it is always good to be back and it's going to be a great stint working with Morgan always fun when Morgan and I are together so thank you for welcoming us back it is good to be back Morgan had a bit of a longer break than I did had some great adventures and uh we've had a lucky morning with warthogs I suppose nice calm ones for a change but you can physically see the hairs underneath a warthog skin which is crazy they're so thick oh it is a bit of a strange phenomenon but when you're looking at War Dogs I suppose they don't really look that hairy I mean even from okay from this distance it's a little bit tougher to tell but they have that very almost elephant looking skin or Rhino looking skin it looks quite thick and I suppose to a degree it is quite Hardy but they do actually have hairs all over the body they just quite sparse like an elephant there's more skin visible than there is here but those hairs are so thick you could probably make very convincing rope out of it if you wanted to like it's really really thick and the follicles are so big and the hairs are so deeply embedded in the skin they're so tough that if you I mean it's obviously not something you can do if a warthog is alive but if you have been fortunate enough to learn from from animals that have unfortunately passed away which of course is a process of life it's it happens if you are ever fortunate enough to have a look at the underside of a warthog skin you can physically see these little black dots and if you feel them it almost feels like a pincushion on the underside of their skin and those are the hair follicles they're so thick and that's of course a really important protective layer for these war dogs they've got to have very hard prickly little hairs and especially around the main so coming down the back of the neck it really helps to protect this very vulnerable vertebra that are in the neck but it goes all the way down almost to halfway down the back and then the rest of the body it's kind of more spread out but very very thick Hardy hairs and I suppose warthogs in general are just very tough animals I think if a big male warthog came running at me with his tusks I would probably run the other way I've got more chance of running away from a warthog than I do from most other things warthogs and ostriches I'm not the biggest fan of walking into Granby ones but it can be quite an adventure I distinctly remember a story of somebody not listening to their guide on a walk wasn't me it wasn't my walk but a friend of mine and he took guests on a walk and one of the teenagers was being a teenager and did not listen to him and when he told everyone to come around the back of the warthog Borough so they could look at the tracks and kind of discuss how warthogs burrow this teenager decided he would go and stand right in front of it and as he was trying to pull the teenager back this warthog came out of the borough went straight between his legs and knocked him flat off his feet so he learned very quickly that you should probably listen to his guide but they are really chunky animals they're very strong so you don't want to mess with them it doesn't look like it when they're being so calm and peaceful like this they're just spreading out feeding the whole family but they are really fascinating animals quite different to everything else we see but if you have missed any of our show this morning or in fact any of the shows you can go to the app and all of our best bits and highlights are there for you to catch up on just to make sure you haven't missed out on anything spectacular oh you can see those Mains quite nicely now that one closer to us is looking quite golden on the top almost like a blue wildebeest Mane oh Wendy thank you so much it is good to be back the terrible Duo is back we're gonna be very entertaining for the next few weeks I'm sure [Music] look how quickly that'd be over changed straight at us now certain don't ever just forgot we
