wife of Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson has been at the center of controversy around the nonprofit that she runs so we told you earlier she abruptly closed it after 9 years in business in an interview you will only see on W she told Capital bureau chief Laura Lesley her side of the story and Laura joins us live outside the State Department of Health and Human Services Laura she says she's the target of a political Vendetta Hill's business was a target of Mark Robinson's critics and Rivals and the GOP Governor's Primary but that's not why she announced two weeks ago that she was closing it down in an exclusive interview she told me that it's in part because she feels like she's been singled out by state Regulators due to her marriage to Robinson Yolanda Hill founded balanced nutrition in 2015 it's a nonprofit that helps child care providers submit claims to the USDA for food for low-income kids Hill and her family members including Mark Robinson several years ago were the only employees they administered about $1.8 million in federal funds last year DHHS had flagged the business for additional scrutiny after last year's review found financial and accounting irregularities we feel like we were being targeted from the beginning Hill didn't deny there are issues with the group's paperwork but she said the consultant who gave her the poor review last year also took a photo of Hill's personal Facebook page and circulated it to other DHHS staff members pointing out that she's married to Robinson Hill says that's evidence that she's the subject of a political Vendetta and that violates the USDA program's rules I'm the type of person I don't care about someone's Poli affiliation I can work with anyone we I don't talk about that my providers most of them have no idea who my husband is because that's not part of what we do I asked DHHS to respond to Hill's allegations DHHS did not make anyone available for an interview but a spokeswoman said the agency is quote operating under normal Federal requirements now Hill has also come under scrutiny for getting a PPP loan during the pandemic and then getting a substantial raise Hill told me that the board approved the raise because of the extra work she had been doing to grow the business however in the past the board has largely been made up of Hills family members Laura Lesley reporting live for us in Raleigh thank you he
