Fuck me, I thought it was just a gag on B99.
It's fucked up that these prisoners are fed so little that they need to buy more food to supplement their meals. Maybe instead of lowering costs by reducing the amount and quality of food, we should stop sentencing people to prison for non-violent crimes.
Surprised to find out that they are not fed well. The inmates in beyond scared straight look buff.
If they aren't allowed cash how do they buy stuff (like ramen) from the commissary? I'm not sure how that system works. ELI5?
Reminds me we did this same type of thing in the military with MRE goods and cigarettes. Jalapeno cheese and Strawberry milkshakes would sometimes get me a whole carton of cheap Iraqi smokes.
This is horrifying. We treat inmates like they're subhuman, when most of them don't even deserve to be there in the first place. Our system is beyond repair.
