[Music] this might be one of the most interesting new boats at dorf boat show it's the Omicron OT 60 if you not heard of them they've been building sailing boats in Greece for years including some big stuff we're talking 50 M plus sailing Yachts so they know what they're doing and this is a motorboat with a Sailing Boat deriv tile designed to be efficient quiet and go long distances as comfortably as possible it's a really novel idea let's go and have a look around shall we I'm Jack Haynes welcome to your [Music] [Applause] buyer I talk about it being a Sailing Boat to Hull what does that actually mean well first of all look at the width of it it's 60t long but it's got a 6 M beam and in terms of the hull shape nice and sharp at the bow then it really widens out and it's got a very shallow half section cuz it's designed to push through the water this is not a planing boat top speed is about 15 knots it's designed for pushing through the water at displacement speed and being very efficient while it does it and we'll talk more about that and its range and its performance when we get up to the home station for now let's just focus on this area and what's quite clever about this is is this is the passel you can see the Rams here but they've included it as part of the deck as well so when it's folded away like this it extends the cockpit space then it will also swing all the way out and round the corner so you can use it to get up onto key sides it's also a crane so it will lift the tender on and off this section here this is a fixed platform but you can use that to put your tender in the water and put it back on the platform again there's lots of storage on this boat it's a longdistance liver board Cruiser so we've got storage in the platform here big storage voids either side you lift up the steps and that gives you nice deep storage voids and there's even more of it up in the cockpit the cockpit really makes the most of that 6 M beam this is a really huge space for a 60ft boat on this particular boat you've got mirrored seating areas here there's a lot of customization available on these boats this one has got identical either side but you can drop it down as they have this side to make a sunpad table this side two tables two sunpads whatever you want you can mix it up and you we've got the trim here around the outside so you can fully enclose this area as well and underneath my feet there's just more very deep useful deck storage over on this side they've integrated a barbecue got a grill there with a couple of cup holders and then we head over this way this is a really nice feature we've all seen half docking stations before but there's something about the way this one pops up that is so satisfying soft clothes and then you have everything you need to control the boat from down here full set of throttles engine start stop bow thruster a little screen down here and you're very well positioned looking over the bathing platform to do Stern two moing let's head to the bow the side decks are really wide it's a very safe comfortable boat to move around on you haven't got full railings this is quite Sailing Boat inspired with the cords here but they're nice and highight Leash and you've got very tall tow rails big chunky cleats as well to make crewing as easy as possible now this particular boat via this ladder has access to a huge sunbathing area on top of the Wheelhouse this ladder incidentally can be removed from here and used on the side of the boat to get in and out of the water if you prefer to have solar panels up there you can and there's even a hybrid version of this boat that uses the solar panels a bigger battery bank and electric motors for electric cruising for short periods of time another big sunbathing area down here with a couple of integrated hatches that draw light down into the area below and more flush fit hatches right forward here and that's putting loads of natural light down into the cabin forward which we'll look at in a moment and they've got a proper fixed bow sprit as well they want a nice strong bow sprit here for anchoring and I like the way that all the anchoring equipment and cleats can be closed away under a cover when they're not in use it's a very well thought out practical machine Let's head [Music] inside there's a fantastic connection between the outdoor and indoor spaces on board the ot6 it's obvious things like having the windows that open up to connect these two areas you've got big windows on either side but even the strip lighting in the deck Head Links between the cockpit and the saloon and just draws you in and down through the bow it's a really cool effect and the glass area on this main deck is absolutely extraordinary it's really bright you've got hatches overhead you've got Windows either side opening windows on both sides it's great and you know you're going to spend a lot of time in here probably doing these long distance cruises so being comfortable having people around you is really important as the skipper some other touches down here we have the TV that pops up single touch this is quite a flexible space it's sort of set up as a day bed at the moment but you can flip over the central section and make it into two different chairs it's a really usable area if you just want to come in flop down get out of the Sun and also keep whoever's driving company while the boat's on passage that works really well but you've got two proper Helm seats as well and this is a great quite unique Helm position as well we're quite a long way back in the boat you've got this Atrium area in front of you those big upright wind screens and a really nice focused dashboard All Digital Swit in here but it has manual backup downstairs which we'll look at in a moment but you can control everything around the boat from here under your fingertips it's all integrated into the garming system twin throttles of course but they've also got manual backup even for the throttle so if you lose the flyby wire throttles in the steering you have manual redundancy over here it's really proper stuff I've been talking about its cruising abilities so let's have a little bit of a deep dive into that shall we it's power powered by a pair of 250 horsepower yamar 4-cylinder diesel engines so if you think about the size of this boat that isn't a huge amount of horsepower but then it doesn't need it because it's designed to cruise very efficiently so at 8 knots you're looking at around 1 ler per nautical mile 10 knots 2.2 L per nautical mile and even flat out at 142 knots only 4 L per nautical mile so what does that translate to well it's got a 1,200 L fuel capacity and you'll do 1,000 nautical miles between at 8 knots which is pretty amazing for something this size and they've proven that by taking it from Greece to Venice on its own bum that is the sort of Journey you can do on this boat without really having to think about it too much let's head downstairs this for me is such a great bit of design your lower living space is quite tucked away it's quite private but it's also really well connected to the upper part of the deck so again if you're doing longdistance cruising people can be down here or in the galley but they can still hear and see what's going on up there and as the person at the home you can see what's going on down here you can see where your crew are and it gives you a huge amount of space The Atrium effect down here with these huge Windows is amazing it's not just those youve got ey Lev Windows here with ventilation we've got Port holes lower down again with ventilation and a very large usable Galley all with nice tall fiddles lots of good storage here big twin sink high quality Meer appliances and a big fridge freezer domestic size over on this size too you've even got a nice bit of ventilation here put in behind the hob it does feel very home from home and that's a lovely little cozy dinette over there which also has a drop down table so you can infill to make another birth down there if you need to but sleeping space really isn't much of an issue on the [Music] ot6 and we'll start forward in the owner's cabin first thing head room absolutely Terri powering and just like out there lots and lots of opportunities for natural light to come in in the sides above my head everything opens up they want you to not have to use this with air conditioning unless you really need to so they give you lots of natural ventilation lots of space in a hro so the boat breathes really easily and this is a lovely lovely cabin big bed seats either side I've talked about the amount of glass area in here the TV's up here a bureau and what I quite like is you have a split bathroom so the two people using this cabin can use the bathroom at the the same time one can shower one can brush their teeth that sort of thing and it's very nicely executed I love the brass work here on the doors talking the doors they're lovely and thick all rubber seals around the outside so they don't Rattle and Clank when you shut them they stay shut very very high quality feeling down here and that continues in the guest cabins we'll start in this starbard side twin and for a twin cabin again on a 60ft boat the space is very impressive the birth sizes are a good example of that often these can become so narrow Arrow trying to squeeze them in but even with this nice wide Central walkway these are a really good size and very comfortable mattresses as well again we have lighting up above with ventilation so you get natural light and air coming into this cabin and a really nice bathroom as well every single cabin has got its own bathroom again really good privacy on the boat of this size and we push back out again we'll swing over to the other guest cabin which I suppose would be classed as the VIP via day head as well so this is dayhe head access down here and I talked about having manual backup for everything where you have your switches here all very easy to see very easy labeled and if you need to see anything more than that and really get into the wiring that is very easy as well and look how neat and tidy that is all labeled so you know where everything's leading to very easy to switch things in and out redundancy is key and being able to look after this thing on the move is also part of the ethos but let's car on to the cabin cuz as I said this I would say qualif size of the VIP because it has the double bed and I like the way they've arranged the birth so it makes the most of the hull window so you can see out while you're lying in bed I'm getting boring now about Headroom and ventilation light take my word for it it feels much bigger in here than it should do on a 60ft boat and although this is the day head there's also private access to this bathroom through this door here let's head to the engine room well there's really good access down into this area through that deck hatch in the cockpit and the other benefit about having such small engines on a 60ft boat is look at the tiny footprint of these yanmars they're Diddy so they're very easy to get to move around inspect everything they're mounted on these sprung bearings as well so they're really trying to eliminate vibration Shake resonance all of that stuff to make sure you really don't feel it when you're Trucking along and you can see the quality and the amount of the insulation in here as well including on the deck hatch so they've put a lot of effort into to make it a very quiet cruising boat and it's a very easy area to inspect all white as well so you can spot leaks really easily your filters are very easy to see and they've got clear bowls so you can check the quality of the fuel by eye it all goes back to that notion of being able to look after this boat on the go maintain it yourself and make looking after it as easy as possible thanks for watching that tour if you enjoyed it please give the video a like and let me know what you think about this project I think it's fascinating but I'd be interested to know your thoughts so get in the
