Why I'm Obsessed with Dragon's Dogma & Berserk

[Music] welcome ladies and gentlemen my name is dynamic man and today we are taking a look at berserk in the world of Dragon Dogma the world of gaming and manga have given birth to countless epic tales with its own unique flavor and appeal however some stories transcend their respective mediums sharing striking similarities that capture the imagination of fans across genres one such intriguing connection exists between Dragon's Dogma and the Dark Fantasy manga series berserk aside from the promotional deal between the two franchises which featured the Black Swordsman and the White Hawk armor sets in the game there are tons of resemblances between these two berserk is one of my favorite mangas and with its countless anime attempts and video games no other franchise has ever allowed me to experience the world of Berserk quite the way Dragon's Dogma has for those of you who aren't familiar berserk is a dark fantasy manga series written and illustrated by canara mura the story revolves around gots Griffith you attractive son of a [ __ ] a lone swordsman and griffith the leader of a mercenary group called the B of the hawk the series follows guts's Journey seeking revenge on Griffith who betrayed him and sacrificed his comrade to become a powerful demonic being the series is known for its intricate artwork complex characters and deep philosophical undertones in this world is the destiny of mankind controlled by some transcendental entity or law is it like the hand of God hovering above at least it is true that man has no control even over his own will both Dragon's Dogma and berserk immerse audiences in a dark medieval fantasy setting that is f fed with danger and despair these worlds are characterized by towering castles ancient forests and looming threats creating a general atmosphere of for boing this shared Ambience draws players and readers alike into a hauntingly beautiful realm where the line between life and death is Raaz a thin at the heart of both narratives are complex and multifaceted characters berserk introduces us to the enigmatic and brooding guts whose Journey from a lone mercenary to a figure of death Destiny is riveting in Dragon's Dogma the player's character the Arisen embarks on a quest with equally intricate companions each harboring their own paths and motivations the theme of mercenary companies and their Dynamics further solidifies the connection between the two tales in berserk the band of the hawk led by the charismatic Griffith symbolizes loyalty ambition and camaraderie Dragon's Dogma mirrors this with a group of ad adventurers assembled during the players's quest forging bonds and friendships in The Crucible of danger both narratives introduce readers and players to a wide array of grotesque and other worldly creatures in both Dragon's Dogma and berserk the monsters are often depicted as dark and menacing creatures these creatures evoke a sense of dread and danger in the world in berserk Apostles and nightmarish creatures R the land while Dragon's Dogma presents colossal foes like the Griffin and the Chima the postgame events in Dragon's Dogma and the post Eclipse events in berserk introduce a similar atmosphere of postapocalyptic chaos the worlds become filled with powerful and vicious monsters these creatures serve not only as formidable adversaries but also as embodiments of the world's malevolence adding depth to the stories another striking similarity we see is with CA and Mercedes the they not only share a similar appearance but even in their respective roles both Kasa and Mercedes hold leadership positions Kasa was the second in command of the band of the hawk and Mercedes is depicted as a capable leader serving as the captain of the enlistment cors two female characters both who are struggling to fit in a world that is dominated by men and made to feel inferior but both are made to feel worthy by the main character and should you choose Mercedes in Dragon's Dogma ultimately fall in love with her there are also some similarities between the witch Seline to the character Sheri who is also a prominent figure in the berserk story and she too is a witch seline's house even has a resemblance to the spirit tree Mansion where Sher lives and both places are protected by spells and Golems the themes of sacrifice and ambition intertwine deeply in both stories characters in berserk make profound sacrifices in pursuit of their own ambitions leading to moral dilemmas and character development similarly Dragon's Dogma explores the concept of fate and destiny with the Arison being marked by the dragon whether they choose to face the dragon and fight or to sacrifice their loved one in order to live and gain power we see these similarities most with Griffith and Duke Edmund Duke Edmund is driven by a desire for eternal life and power he confronts the dragon that plagues the land and is willing to make great sacrific ices to achieve his goal including merging his soul with the dragon and sacrificing his wife in order to do so meanwhile Griffith's ambition revolves around becoming a ruler and achieving his dream of owning his own kingdom he sacrifices his comrades for power leading to his transformation into a member of the godhead all in pursuit of his dream it is evident that Dragon's Dogma draws inspiration from Dark Fantasy works like berserk the similarities in tone atmosphere and the narrative themes suggest that berserk had a significant influence on the game this is even confirmed by the developers this influence adds depth to Dragon's Dogma and offers fans of Berserk like myself a familiar yet unique gaming experience in conclusion the parallels between Dragon's Dogma and berserk Run Deep encompassing themes characters settings and even visual Aesthetics these similarities enrich the storytelling experience for fans of both mediums Bridging the gap between gaming and manga and reinforcing the enduring
