all right I'm going to start your exam now you might feel a little pressure okay and we're in oh what's that it looks like Frogger Advanced now let's keep moving welcome back to Retro Rebound in today's video I got some Game Boy Advance games for you now why is that you may be wondering Maddie why are you buying Game Boy Advance games in 2023 well ladies and gentlemen after what feels like an eternity of waiting I finally got my hands on one of these what is this you may be asking this here ladies and gentlemen is the analog pocket as you can see it's waking up now and boom Mega Man Battle Network too look how beautiful this screen is absolutely incredible so finally after again what felt like an eternity of waiting I pre-ordered this so long ago it finally arrived at the perfect time over my little holiday break so I got nice and cozy with this thing and I just started picking up Game Boy Advance games and a lot of them were picked up in advance pardon the pun of this arriving in the mail because I was so looking forward to finally having my hands on it for those who don't know the analog pocket can play Game Boy Game Boy Color Game Boy Advance games it has a beautiful screen it's a rechargeable device it has all these buttons here that are response I mean literally the perfect handheld for someone like me whose favorite system of all time next to like the PS2 and the 360 is the Game Boy Advance I love that thing so this is like a souped up beautiful Game Boy Advance and the one that I customize with the backlit screen that you may remember from like my Boost Fury video it it doesn't turn on anymore I don't think I did a good job putting it together so I gotta rebuild one of those but finally I have this and with that I need some Game Boy Advance games to play on it and that's where this video begins so if you're new here and you're into Nostalgia and retrospective content consider subscribing let's get the ball rolling well that's another great pun I'm just put a good start here Mario Golf Advanced tour role playing golf this one could connect to your GameCube I know a lot of Nintendo games did that as you'll see here my ultimate sign of disrespect to these uh these older Game Boy Advance games is if they are not in a sleeve it's just because I only have so many sleeves to go around and I have to really pick and choose at this point in time because my collection is growing so with that we have advanced tour I bought this for about 60 dollars back when Mario Golf was coming out on the switch because my thought process was well maybe I'll make a video celebrating the release of Mario Golf on the older Mario Golf game but I just never got around to it because we did an EA Sports big video and it just did terrible and it was like maybe Sports just even the arcady sports games won't Vibe here so I just decided to not go for it so it sat on my shelf since then here you can see an ad for the Game Boy Advance SP love seeing that stuff you also have tails of Symphonia here on Nintendo Power but the thing you came for was probably the manual here and you can even see just looking at the side it's just like a rainbow man every color in the book was used here so yeah cracking it open I mean is exactly what you want a manual look at that talking about how you hit shots and everything the reason this game was so loved by people in comparison to the career mode in the Nintendo switch Mario Golf game was because the story mode was a little lackluster on switch and a lot of people wanted the depth the role-playing elements that were offered in this game where you could create your own character and really scale them up and feel a sense of progression and low-key like I gotta say that that old golf games were some of the best RPGs you could play I Remember Loving Tiger Woods PGA Tour 04 the one with tiger and the red shirt he's kneeling holding the putter I played that game in insane amount and I think it's literally because it kind of had RPG elements in the career mode you get different clothing different sponsorships you'd spend them on clubs and upgrades for your character like I shout out to anyone who loved the little Tiger Woods PGA Tour o4 but anyway we're here to talk about Mario Golf a little bit and this game I gotta be real I haven't played it you know I don't want to turn into one of those collectors who who buys games and then never plays them as they sit on their shelf forever but you still kind of value them because you're like well I might play it one day and the sight of it is pretty cool so I'm gonna keep it but that is one that shamefully I must admit I have not touched that one I have played though this one cost me 45 bucks I bought it around the pandemic actually uh Dragon Ball Z legendary superheroes you got freeze in the background cell in the background I don't know if I'll ever make a video on this game but I remember playing this for the first time on a field trip some some chick was bugging me too I remember she was like harassing me while I was playing this game because my friend lent it to me I was like leave me alone I'm just trying to play games in peace protect the Earth destroy your enemies features three different different modes of play including story mode multiplayer mode and battle mode Faithfully follows Dragon Ball Z storyline from the Saiyan Saga through cell and Buu saga but notice that blue isn't on the cover here interesting and it says build custom decks from damage attack beam attack defense support and command cards and interact with your favorite DBZ characters so yeah this was like a turn-based game but also a card game at the same time it's actually the only complete inbox Game Boy Color game I have in my collection I love by the way the see-through casing for Game Boy Color games being able to see like the actual motherboard it's just something about that you can even see here 1998 Nintendo I I Adore that era of video games so much it just felt so primitive if you will we have the manual here pretty good condition a little wrinkled here on the left foot again 45 bucks I'm not going to complain uh as expected this thing is in fantastic conditions but yeah you get character cards you get ability cards and it's not a deep turn based game like if you're looking for a deep Dragon Ball turn based game like get Dragon Ball fusions or something this was very much the beginning of something that they never really expanded upon and the the turn-based system doesn't have that much of a flow to it like even when I play it nowadays I still get a little confused it's it's one of those types of Game Boy Color games you're like right so this functions but anyway that was what I had in my collection purely a Nostalgia pit because again I remember my friend lending it to me and and enjoying what I played of it oh we also have a nice little look at that aren't the ads just the best Game Boy Color ad there power up subscription say they were selling subscription Services even back then we just forget that type of stuff but yeah definitely a Nostalgia grab for me on this one not a game I love you know but but one I'll fire up from time to time and again all these I've tried out on my analog pocket worked flawlessly it's incredible uh let's go with another unsleeved one the rest here are sleeved uh we got Naruto ninja Council two yeah I picked this one up because uh Naruto ninja Council one which is right here next to me uh that video did really well and I had a ton of fun making it because it was one of those games that like as a content creator for those who want a bit more insight on the thought process you have these games that you love but they're terrifying to make videos about because it may be a ton of wasted effort even if you do love it with Ninja Council because it's such a short game and one that I loved I said okay let's just take a flyer on it and see what happens and at first it was a complete flop but then it just did extremely well like one of our best performers of the year and I was so pleased with it that it just it was one of the best feelings as a Creator it was like complete extremes on both ends before when we started to where we ended up so I bought the second one and I do want to do a video on this at some point this one's not sleepy even though it's literally in perfect condition because no headband man I can't respect that no headband Naruto he looks younger than he does in the first game that's not right so I'm not I'm not crazy about it I get it like where it's from the scene is from and all that stuff but no it just doesn't click with me here dangerous missions await you got Gara front and center here Kabuto there my man Kabuto team up for four player action battle as Naruto Sasuke and Sakura Sakura is here finally you know remember I said in the ult the ninja Council one video that Sakura just got the short end of the stick so she's in this game which makes sense they put Kakashi in the first game too so now everyone's here from uh Team seven and then use Jutsu techniques for powerful attacks now inside here again this thing is minty like really good condition but here we've got the manual the cartridge I'm sorry the Game Boy manual the cartridge here is the actual game manual and this one is also really good I love that you can kind of see like a wooden backdrop for it it walks you through all the Scrolls that you can pick up there's a ton of more pickups now there's character changing during the missions which is different from the first game where you would pick a character and you would go through the story with them so this game focused more on gameplay and it was like kind of disappointing I remember like it was less on the story and replayability exploration and more on just the characters you could play as in the game series became more of that and I just it's funny like ninja Council was one of those few series I can literally point out and say I like the first one and the rest kind of just got worse over time but I can expand my thoughts more in a video when we get there but for now that is a complete inbox copy of that game beautiful condition next up here you already saw the cartridge is in there so of course with me I have Battle Network too we just talked about Battle Network one on the channel of course Battle Network is going to be sleeved up you know these games are still so pricey even with the HD Collection announced the Legacy Collection these are still so pricey my Battle Network one and two copies are in pretty good condition this one's got a little Dent here on the top right corner not crazy about that the fold isn't perfect it isn't sticking as you can see here that's okay though here's his more online chaos entering the futuristic Universe of Mega man.exe in this new adventure in the Battle Network series join him in his battle to fight cyber crimes and this Mega role-playing Adventure now there's a new net crime organization in town and its computer hacking has created a virus that's quickly gaining momentum it's up to Mega man.exe his Pals Lan and friends to join the net Battlers and win this new Cyber battle stop it before it spreads and uh yeah this game as I've been playing it is surprisingly dark that's the other thing that stinks about this copy no cartridge holder you see that like none of that white slip I've been pulling out of all the other ones so everything just kind of floats in here it makes it easy for the video but it's not the completing box which is probably why there's a little Dent there just from the previous owner because this thing has been standing vertically from me but this game actually has some dark moments which is really nice look at that art look at that art ah it's so good okay but anyway could talk about this game forever I love the art for this series so much if I haven't said that a million times before I'm saying it again um but yeah as I was trying to say for the third time now dark moments in the series there's one point where like gospel is the name of the villain group and they they literally like blow up a train station and it's pretty nuts here look at look at the character Concepts here some of the best in all video games um you know it's hard to go back for a lot of people to Battle Network one especially as they add in more and more quality of life updates but I think the story in one through three is the best I think it was probably planned to be a trilogy but then they started making a lot of money by doubling up on pretty much all the versions of the games past three and they're like well we got to keep going with this and then we got to do star four so yeah Battle Network fantastic series we'll be talking about that more on the channel throughout the year even though Battle Network one is a video didn't like light up the world in the terms of performance like it's just one of those things I'm gonna I'm gonna follow my heart let your heart be your guiding key right so with that that we move on to one that I I spend it on a spending on my friend had this and you never like as a game collector buy something and you're like why did I do that like did I really need that and it's just like you when you know the seller you know they're trusted you know the quality is good you don't have to ask any if-ans or buts and you're getting a friendship discount on it I'm like okay I think I can do this anyway so I bought Pokemon pinball Ruby and Sapphire I got this one for I want to say it was around 180 190 and the reason I paid that is because online was around the 250 area my friend was just getting rid of it he was like do you want it yeah of course like I'm gonna take it as you can see it got the acrylic treatment the back says much more than a regular pinball game Pokemon pinball combines fast flipper action with a unique way to catch your favorite Pokemon control the flippers to shoot the Pokeball at targets of on one of two play Fields plays either the Ruby or Sapphire field to rack up as many points as possible and catch over 200 Pokemon featuring characters from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire as many of you know Gen 3 is my favorite so that's kind of why I wanted to get this because I want to eventually get a good copy when I really feel like just burning cash I want to get a really good copy of Pokemon Emerald like that's a dream pick up for me because I love that game so much and that's the main reason I haven't made a video about it on the channel is like I want to have the complete inbox experience for the video but it's so much it's like 500 600 if you're getting like a good copy so I figured I'd leap on this just so I can have the spin-offs covered plus Pokemon pinball on the Game Boy Advance or color was one I really loved it came with the funky cartridge with the AAA Battery slot as well awesome and I think it came with a collectible card I think it was a Dragonite but I'm not 100 sure anyway this has Trico on the front man Trico love Trico love Sceptile and uh yeah you can see the Ultra Ball here Pokeball a lot of detail in this complete unboxed experience here so as I'll Point as we go along here but uh this one is another one that looks beautiful on the analog pocket I mean all these games look beautiful a pixel art age is the best in my opinion so here we've got look at that player Game Boy games on your TV using your Nintendo GameCube with the Game Boy Player you can see they got actually Emerald here with mudkip and yeah Torchic on there wow such a great throwback Nintendo Power ads and then we got the manual here it's all pretty similar color very blue and yellow with red on the left of course uh you know representing the the Ruby and Sapphire but the yellow Banner at the top here so yeah it's going over the fields and uh where you can play Pinball that is and you can upgrade your balls you can see here and the score will be multiplied each time by which ball you have with the maximum being the master ball so there was some depth to this game I just had so much fun with the music and and watching the score rack up because there was a game what was it called it literally comes with Windows computers it was the cadet pinball FX game and I used to go to my grandma's house and play that endlessly that's when you know you're a gamer not to sound like I'm gatekeeping here or relax but when you think about those things that you did to entertain yourself at like a relative's house you're like this is not the ideal game I'd play but it's a video game I'm out here to survive so I'm gonna play this pinball game all right last game of the video this one I just had to show off again Boo's Fury I love booze Fury and I gotta say that this is probably the most expensive complete box copy that I own for the Game Boy Advance but the reason it's so significant is this is a beautiful copy that I got for a really really fair price and it it came with even like a little letter like take great care of it thanks so much I was like that is awesome that is the spirit of sharing your collection I think and I'd love to do that someday but this thing is pristine I mean this is like a 200 game easy and it is I got this for way cheaper than that I know that so the back says boom must be stopped and this is for those who don't know we made a video on it as well this is the third entry in the Legacy of Goku series and uh a lot of people really liked the video we made on and so we still have more Dragon Ball content on the way I love the style of this box too the inside here because the the slots coming out you know I don't mind it but like this kind of the attachment here the fact that that's like that cardboard isn't even ripped here it's so easy for that to get torn apart but this comes with the map a very useful map here uh for the game world because you could for those who don't know actually go to different spots in the Dragon Ball Z World you have the cover art here so you could hang this up if you'd like but here what we have is uh all the places you can go commies look out west City capsule Corp the World Tournament Hercule City East District 439 where Goku lives and roshi Island so yeah this was just like an awesome thing to get because this was the tough part to find you could typically find complete I put in quotes copies of booze Fury but the poster in good condition by the way was tough to find so some collector bought this and just let it be because I mean this feels brand spanking new and I've been over this one before so I won't I won't drag it on too much longer but part of me is I just admire all the little screenshots here but otherwise like the backdrop for the the manual not too crazy about you love seeing the portraits that's what I think makes a a good manual click but here you see Boo's eyes and that's really it but that's all the games that I've picked up so far for my Game Boy Advance entering 2023 I'm going to continue to collect for it because again I love that analog pocket that system is a game changer unfortunately given the shortage on stock some of you may be thinking at the end of this video like I want to go get that and I encourage it if you got funds that you can flick around but uh I was for example looking for a dock for this thing just so I could record raw gameplay like I always do for this channel uh it's like 400 and the system itself is also very expensive like they are hard to find so just keep in mind that you should keep an eye out for pre-orders and that you will be paying a huge luxury tax so to say if you plan on buying this off of eBay or mercari or something like that so just my warning to you but that is everything that I've been picking up here for the Game Boy Advance one of my favorite systems of all time I have plenty more in my collection but these are some of the latest pickups that I either didn't get a chance to show off or I wanted to show off here so I hope you all enjoyed and with that take great care of yourselves and I will see you in the next retro rebound peace
