Why I won’t buy from Provident Metals

hello everybody it's spectacular the silverstack Euler in this video I have a reminder to myself of why I do not buy from Provident metals comm anymore [Music] so now we're gonna open this up and I'm gonna show you what reminds me of why I don't go there it's this guy right here this PCGS MS 62 two and a half dollar gold Indian this is what made me stop buying from Provident metals calm and this was the first purchase I made from them which could you know help the reasoning why I don't go to them anymore is because I had a bad first experience so now you're looking at this probably thinking like what's wrong with that spectacular well there's nothing wrong with this coin right here this is what I bought originally or I thought I was buying but this is not what I got at first and as I go through this I'm going to show you some pictures and some of the emails to and from Provident metals to kind of show you what happened but first things first is I ordered this right here just like I said the PCGS ms sixty to two and a half dollar gold Indian from Provident metals and it was my first purchase from them ever this was a few years back now a few years back you know reminisce with me like you know go back in time with me but what I was sent was a coin that was the two-and-a-half dollar gold Indian the coin looked fine to me but now understand that when you buy these coins that are graded and slabbed you are also paying a little bit for the slab itself because you're paying for the company's reputation you know I mean I'm talking about the PCGS and you're paying for the plastic and you know all the different little gizmos like the hologram and you know the grading service itself you're paying for all that so when you pay for that stuff you need to get the whole package otherwise let me just buy only the coin you know I get I get the old saying to buy the coin and not the slab but in some cases you're paying for the slab so for spectacular he wants to get everything he paid for so anyways when I got this coin originally right the back had a gigantic scratch through it I mean some of the the hologram was taken off and now I found out later that what had most likely happened from that hologram being scratched off was that NGC put the hologram on the outside of the slab for whatever reason they didn't put it on the inside this one is actually on the inside this PCGS so they put the hologram inside or on the sorry I'm sorry they put the hologram outside of the slab that's NGC right and then what would typically happen is a dealer may have that on their table and they'll put the price tag here saying the coin is you know $350 $400 whatever the case may be and then some people what they'll do is they'll bring that home and they don't want the price tag on the slab anymore so they'll scratch it off and what happens when they scratch it off well that hologram comes with it so that was you know scratched off of the coin and it made it look really ugly the back of the slab just looked terrible I mean when you looked at the back of the coin I mean that was just kind of like a focal point the slab looking disgusting also on the top of the slab it looked like somebody had tried to either pry it open or maybe they had dropped the slab onto a tile floor and it cracked it right on top it was very very awful looking and you know just something when you're trying to look at the whole package maybe looking at the coin from an angle you just seen that and it looked really nasty so again I'm paying for the entire package why am I getting some of the package disgusting you know it's it's broken it's it's torn up it's not good looking why would I pay for that and I wasn't getting what I actually paid for at the time PCGS in my opinion and others was a little bit of a well more well known company than NGC it had a little bit more desirability and you paid for that you paid a little bit extra for a PCGS graded coin at that time now it could be a little bit more even or NGC is actually kind of teetering off and a more desirable approach to some collectors anyways so I believe so when I had received that I ended up getting what I believe to be an NGC graded coin and not a PCGS graded coin so I messaged Provident metals who replied to me no the coin that you received was actually a PCGS graded coin just like you paid for and I couldn't I couldn't fat that couldn't I couldn't realize this I I seen the design on the on the front of the slab and it just that's not the PCGS that I knew so you know I went to some coin forums where some really smart people exist if you all are not part part of a coin forum yet get yourself in one because there's some really old collectors there that have been doing this for a lot longer than many of us and can really help you out if you're in a struggle so I posted the pictures there and they agree that the coin in question was actually a NGC greater coin and not a PCGS so Provident metals is basically lying to me so Provident metals admitted that they should not have sent me that particular nasty slab coin and they said it must have slipped through the cracks so I get that you know accidents may happen but then you also sent me a coin that wasn't even graded by the company that I paid a premium for I didn't like that so now this is this conversation back and forth from me and Provident metals is taking place over the course of a few days so I'm getting more and more frustrated as it's taking longer because first of all you know they're calling me a liar they're trying to you know minimize their involvement saying oh you know muscle slipped through the cracks and they're not like apologizing at any real point or not hey sorry you know spectacular of man that's that's terrible let's let's fix that right away it's just they're really trying to just you know minimalize what's going on on their part so finally after several days because he wrote me back I think his name is Richard he wrote me back saying that he would you know and in a few days send me a shipping label I don't understand why it took a few days to get that shipping labels sent to me but it did so finally I get the shipping label this has been now a couple weeks of this back-and-forth banter and me getting more and more frustrated as the days go by because I feel like I don't want to even look at the coin I was so disgusted with it so you know this back and forth goes goes through finally they send me a shipping label I ship it out immediately cuz I can't I can't get this thing out of my hands fast enough and now it's been over a week after that and I'm not getting any kind of confirmation that they received the coin even though the tracking says that they did I'm not getting anything back from prop in the middle say hey yeah we got it no big deal we're looking to it nothing finally I get so frustrated that they haven't messaged me back after I've already sent the coin I know that they have it that I say can you just cancel the whole order and give me my money back I'm gonna go with somebody else and I think I even told them APMEX at the time [Applause] [Music] I was just gonna go that next because I'd had dealt with that next before and although there was head to some bumps with at max it was not that bad so at that time when I sent that email they finally sent me a tracking number for the new coin this one right here and nothing else there was no apology there was no hey we had gotten the coin sorry for not messaging you back nothing just a tracking number and then I received this coin in the mail a few days later and I just thought the the poor communication the basically calling the customer a liar you know the the fact that they sent me the wrong stuff in the first place it just it just put a terrible taste in my mouth for Provident metals maybe Provident metals had some newer people over there at the time it just when you have a bad first experience you know you just it's hard to go on from there if you go on a date and you know the girl is very gassy and you know she just you know total flatulence the entire night are you gonna go on the second third fourth date you're probably going to tell her you know sorry about this it's not working out between us so we don't we don't we don't vibe it's because of her gas enos really but he's got to cut it off you just got to cut it off and that's what I did with Provident metals I really don't desire to go back there I still subscribe to their emails I see what they are offering and I still recommend them to you all because I know that my experience was a probably a one of a kind or at least you know a very small slim chance of a kind of experience that I had and I hear from many other people that they're reputable many other people loved them they all recommend them to me but I can't get past that first bad experience from Provident metals that just put that terrible taste in my mouth I just I just can't I just can't in this coin even though there's nothing wrong with this coin this still reminds me of the story every time I look at it and I don't hate the coin it's still a beautiful one you want to see it it's a beautiful coin it's a great part of American history right here but I just it just it tells the story every single time I see every single time so that is why I choose not to do business with Provident metals I feel there's a lot of great companies out there then I have choices I don't have to be pigeonholed into one company and neither do you if you have some bad experiences move along there is other places out there that you can do business with and again I realize you know by the coin not the slab but you're paying for the slab and a lot of these situations and you remember my video where I had some issues with this coin right here and not the coin itself but the slab that it was in because I was lied to by APMEX showing the picture of something I was not getting you're paying for a lot of what goes on around the coin - might as well get the entire package it is your money it is your money that you're spending get what you're paying for in my opinion and you can see that in my collection I wouldn't it wouldn't do me any you know favors to have cracked slabs and and pieces that are torn off it just it's not what I collect you can you can see that plain as day from what I do have I try to keep everything in nice condition you know I don't want to have broken slabs I don't want to have scratched up slabs Provident metal should have taken that coin had it Reisler by the company on their part they should not have expected their buyer to have to do that so anyways that's my little rant about why I do not use Provident metals and I feel like I never fully got closure from that I never fully got the apology that I needed from that it could have been you know a simple email from maybe someone up in the chain saying hey this is a total accident IRA part it was a mistake we're sorry for you know basically calling you a liar the whole time for sending you a terrible looking example of the coin you know shoot I mean if they had sent me maybe like a little a little free gift in there maybe even they could each a nor something I would have been like a little bit feeling better about the whole situation but I mean it was it was it was a terrible experience it took about three three and a half weeks for the whole thing to pan out for the return process for everything even though I immediately start a conversation them once I got the coin I mean day one once I got it boom email went out it took too long they didn't do the right thing they don't have a lifelong buyer out of spectacular I can't I can't justify staying with that company I can't do it so that is why I don't do business with Provident metals I don't suggest that you use my story to you know say that you wouldn't do business with them you should still give it you know give them a try many many people love Provident metals I'm one of the few that has a bad thing to say about them so don't don't take my video for you know like oh whatever spectacular says goes give it your own try give them your own you know money and try it out yourself because you may love them you may think that I'm crazy but it's just my personal bad experience and I just can't justify going through them again you know but just definitely definitely try it yourself don't don't just take my story for it anyways I'm putting that thing back in there it's got to go away at this point I need to go the rant is well and done that's my reasoning spectacular is out so real quick I want to make honourable or should I say dishonorable mention another company that I don't do business with a lot of people love this company but I just can't for myself for the life of me do business with them because of something that happened before I even gave them any of my money I'm talking about SD bullion so a while ago with SD boy and and salivate metal they did a thing on his show where he interviewed somebody from there from sd bullion and the interview was great etc etc after the interview was done I go back to my channel and I look at my comments that I receive cuz I look at everybody's comments believe it or not spectacular sees every comment that you all make every single time and I read every single one so hey make sure you comment so I look at the comments and I see one from somebody from sd bullion and they said hey you know here we are at st bullion we would love to have your business here's our website boom on one of my videos one of my more popular videos too so they were not only trying to get business from one of my popular videos they were trying to send me and other people that would see that video to their website via link that they put on there and I thought that that was not proper you know that's not the way to go about things I don't go to SD bullion and try to put my YouTube page on there somehow or go talk to their customer service and say hey customer service people you should go to my my youtube that's not how I do business I don't agree with that at all I find that to be a little disrespectful so that kind of put a bad taste in my mouth I don't even know these people and you're coming on they're trying to basically pimp your you know product on my channel so I didn't like that and then I was like you know what let's forget about that let's give them a shot so what I did is I went to their contact page right and I sent them an email and I said hey like I do videos on YouTube I would like to do a video on your company can you tell me a little bit about yourself what makes you different from you know other companies why I should do business there and I kind of gave them a list of you know very short list now mind you a very short list of what I'm kind of looking for so what they did is they sent me a link to their about page saying hey have a look at this and that should tell you what work our company is about just a generic little you know off with you we don't got time so I closed them out of my life I said if they don't have time for me to just sit there and just a quick little email you know just just the guy saying like hey this is why we're different we offer better you know more competitive prices we offer different products you know we feel like our customer service is better any of that stuff just real quick in that email would have made me go like ah you know I'm gonna give you guys a shot the benefit of a doubt I'm gonna try you guys out I couldn't do it they couldn't do it so like I said before there are plenty of places out there that I can do business that is not Provident metals that is not FSST bullion and I'll move along no big deal [Music]
