good afternoon YouTube how are you doing this fine Sunny spring day uh welcome to another video where I uh Shameless stole a question and answer from a tech support subreddit and turn it another video for my channel I do have a good reason for it this time uh which will become clear shortly and in this video what I'm going to be doing is showing you how to get your game on sooner how to speed up your steam downloads if you're finding steam is slow when downloading games compared to other computers in the household or if you have a laptop and you find it's faster elsewhere slower where you are there's a good chance this video will help you uh just quick note to those that haven't been on my channel before when I'm not Shameless shamelessly stealing tech support ideas from Reddit I do offer free Tech Support to anybody who needs it I've been doing this for years now uh and I use those Tech spot sessions turning into videos for this channel so if this video doesn't solve the issue or you have any other textbook queries feel free to drop a comment down below and I might choose you for a free text pass session in the future right let's get to it I want to start by saying if your Internet is slow or if a steam is slow on every device in your household then this video probably isn't going to help it sounds like you just have crappy internet and there's no magic fix uh sorry sorry nothing I can do for that that said if you know you've got good internet or steam has just been very slow on one device in the household then this might be the video for you as I mentioned I stole this idea from a post over on text plots on tech support subreddit by a user called tal337 who is is wits end apparently because you've been trying to troubleshoot this for ages and steam just downloads much slower on his computer his white computer can do it in 30 minutes his will still go in after two hours it was only halfway through and he tried various things moving closer at the row router trying all different settings to basically make his machine download any quicker than it is already so thankfully user ignorant bastard loving the user ID did post a solution but what they didn't do is give you very comprehensive steps on how to find that answer or how to change the setting that they're speaking about this full duplex uh and that's what the issue essentially comes down to your network card is not running at the speed it should or could be running it so I'm going to show you how to do that and there's a number of ways to get into this uh first setting so I'll show you both the way I prefer is down here it might be a wireless icon or this little um Network icon down on your taskbar you're going to right click on that choose open network and internet settings if you don't have the icon for any reason you can click on the Windows logo just type Network fingers work choose Network status from the menu and you're going to end up at this same screen once you're here all you're going to need to do is click on change change adapter options now when this screen comes up it may have more than just one network connection I'm running a virtual machine here with a normal network but you might have two or three or four or five what you're going to want to choose is the one that you're actively using when you're having this issue and you can tell by that's usually little blue and the others will be gray and of course maybe have a Red Cross next to them once you've found it right click on it and choose properties at the top here you've got the name of your network adapter and mine's as I say a virtual machine so it says hyper-v yours might say Intel or Netgear or something along those lines uh click on this configure button and then into the advanced tab once you're in there the option you're looking for is actually called link speed or link speed and duplex I don't have it because as I say I'm on a virtual machine but it'll be called something like this link speed and duplex or it might just become League speed or it might be called duplex but you're looking for something that gives you this list of different network speeds one gigabits 10 megabits 100 megabits and then it's got full and half duplex for each of those if it's not already you want to set this setting to Auto negotiation that means your network will automatically detect the best speed it can run at and force everything to run at that speed if however it's already on auto negotiation then choose the fastest speed available to you should be if you're on a wired connection it should be one gigabits full duplex always choose full duplex once you've done that all you need to do is Click OK come out that window close all these other windows close and reopen Steam and your issues should be gone you should be uh solved in your steam downloads should be fasting you can finally start a pro Esports career you've been dreaming of if not leave a comment in the Box down below and I might pick you for a free textpot session as I said earlier and of course if it did help make sure you help me field the algorithm by commenting liking and subscribing lastly most importantly make sure you have a great day take care
