Legal separation is not enough (as you said, they can't remarry) and annulment costs at least half a million and sometimes decades to be finalized. Divorce can be cheaper and quicker which makes it more feasible for those in the lower income class who are often victims of abuse.
On a side note, respondents in this survey are pretty decent.

I agree with Atty. Lorna Kapunan that divorce is just disguised as legal separation here in the Philippines. Sabi nga nya, speaks like a duck, walk like a duck, therefore, it is a duck.
Ang wala lang talaga is speedy separation with provisions for remarriage. Legal separation does not allow parties involved to get remarried.
IMHO opinion, legal separation and annulment are already sufficient. These just need some adjustments especially the equality when it comes to sexes.
