Why Didn't Aang Waterbend in Netflix's Avatar Live Action?

so by now it's a dead horse we all know it hang didn't water bend in Netflix's liveaction adaptation even though the first season of the cartoon was literally titled book one water I have to be honest I'm not a big fan at all of how they've changed this I think it's one of the series major weaknesses however instead of complaining about it let's actually try to understand why and what that might mean for the future so unlike book one water in the original show Netflix titled their series after Ang himself throughout it we focus far more on the Avatar State than we do bending as qara is the only one who seems to study water bending formerly other than the Kyoshi scene and final episode both of which don't count Ang never water bends I think the series is going to focus far more on Ang himself and his journey of overcoming his trauma from the past like accidentally almost killing his friends and hurting those around him which ultimately allows him to master the Avatar State and then fluently utilize all four bending Arts the original series did have side arcs about this but it was never a major focus and was always secondary to the main Arc of Ang searching for Masters and trying to prepare to defeat oai instead in Netflix's adaptation I get the feeling that we'll be seeing a in a much more philosophical and spiritual light before we ever see him fully lean into the bending Arts since his only current bending is air which is fluid and defensive in nature it's the perfect companion piece for him to go on a journey around the world searching for inner peace and coming to terms with his past so that he can save those who need him this has a lot of potential even though it's incredibly different from the original Show's focus it just really needs to be executed well to succeed so if you enjoyed this video make sure to hit the Subscribe and like buttons as there will be plenty more like this to come thanks so much for watching and see you in the next video drop a thank Mr Zuko in the comments if you made it this far
