what's up YouTube silver dragons here and in this video I'm gonna talk about the 20 franc gold coins and why these are actually awesome for gold stacking so let's do it thank you so much for watching my video I do sincerely appreciate it as always if you want to learn more about investing in precious metals or if you just want to watch awesome videos about gold and silver then make sure to subscribe to my youtube channel ok let's get into the 20 Frank gold coins now I have thrown a glove on just for a presentation but these are 90 percent gold so you don't have to use one when you're handling these but let's talk about the 20 francs and why they're so awesome for gold stacking now the one I'm going to be showing off in this video is from 1851 this is actually a very early one I think it's actually called an early head but it's from France and it's got the 20 franc denomination so this counts as a 20 franc gold coin okay so let's get right into these now most commonly the 20 franc gold coins will be referred to as European 20 francs or euro 20 franc gold coins some people call them Napoleon's but for the most part they're gonna be European 20 franc gold coins because they're minted in so many different countries they're just called European gold coins the most common ones are the Swiss Helvetica I think I'm saying that right and the French gold rooster this one was before the gold roosters so if you want to go off of troy ounces each one contains 1.86 7 troy ounces of gold that is assuming it doesn't have too much wear because these were circulated and used as regular gold coins it is possible some of them got worn down so when you buy these you want to make sure that you're buying very good condition or better if you want you can weigh them they should weigh 6 point 4 or 5 grams now because these are obviously 90% gold that would leave with five point eight grams of pure gold and if you want to go off karats these are actually right around 21.6 carats so there you go anyway so in 1965 France Belgium Italy in Switzerland signed a treaty to try and unify their currencies and so these are minted in so many different countries like I said the most common are the Switzerland and French versions however obviously you can get them from Belgium Italy Austria and then there was a bunch of other countries that made these as well the list is quite long I mean you got Greece Spain Hungary Venezuela Yugoslavia Romania Finland there's the Monacan ones polish ones there's so many different versions of these so the main thing to look for is that it says 20 somewhere on the back hopefully 20 francs that's probably the most common but of course some of these countries used different denominations so you could see liar or lie ray I don't know how you say that Bulevar dinara there's a whole bunch of different ones so anyway look for that 20 on the reverse that's gonna be a sign that it's probably a 20 franc gold coin and also the year usually these are around 1860s to the 1940s it's gonna be somewhere in there most commonly so yeah that's a little bit about the 20 franc gold coins you can buy them locally at a coin shop my local coin shops do sell these mostly they just have the Swiss Helvetica ones and the roosters which are very cool I want to get a rooster in the future or you can buy them online now I bought this one online and I just did a random so you can buy them from pretty much all the online gold and silver bullion dealers and it will be just a random mint random year and this is the one I ended up getting okay so now let's talk about stacking why these are so awesome for gold stacking so of course when you're stacking gold you're trying to preserve your wealth take that fiat see that you have and convert it into a precious metal that you can actually hold in your hand and hopefully over the long term this will preserve your wealth much better than that fiat currency so that's sort of a little bit of gold stacking 101 but let's talk about these specifically why they're so great so the first thing is that these are very plentiful these are well known the 20 franc gold coins you can get them pretty much anywhere that sells gold and silver I mean millions and millions and millions of these were made of course a lot of them are circulated but there's a lot that are still pretty much looked at bullion looked at as bullion coins and bought and sold for their gold content so a lot of the time you can get these right around spot I bought mine at spot it was a sale but you can actually get these under spot as well so the first reason to stack them for gold stacking is they're plentiful which makes them very liquid so if you want to buy them there's plenty to buy if you want to sell them there's a lot of people that are buying them and happy to take them off your hands so very liquid also they're very recognized the 20 franc gold coin because it's been around so long pretty much everyone knows about them which is another great reason to stack them but probably the best reason to stack these is because they're just so cheap you can get these 20 franc gold coins like I said usually at spot now my local coin shop actually sells these just a hair over spot so if you don't know how to figure out how much over spot you're paying all you got to do is look at the spot price of gold when you walk in the door times that by 0.186 7 which is how many truly ounces of gold are in this particular coin and then figure out how much they're charging you over or under that dollar amount so if you come up with a number like 300 and they're charging 310 for these then they're charging $10 over spot so that's sort of how to figure that out but like I said most places will sell these right around spot unfortunately they buy them back a little bit under spot of course they got to make money so that's something to consider but one thing I do want to bring up is that a lot of people like to buy these off of ebay now if you're buying these off of ebay I would highly recommend buying them from a large bullion dealer off V base such as SD bullion JM bullion at max something like that but the reason people like to buy these off of ebay is because a lot of times these will qualify for eBay bucks and you can get 10% back and so if you factor that in then you can get these well under spot a lot of the time buying them online so that's great when you can buy gold under spot especially fractional gold coins that's awesome for gold stacking okay so another reason to buy these for gold stacking is because they do have history so if you have children or grandchildren and you want to teach them about precious metals but also teach them a little bit of history this is a great way to do it another way would be to buy pre 33 US gold coins which are also 90% but this is sort of the European version now this particular one here it was minted in 1851 and it was actually minted from the Paris Mint so that's very cool to have a gold coin over a hundred and seventy years old minted in Paris absolutely awesome so quite a bit of history you know who held this gold coin in their hand at one point really cool to think about another reason to buy these for gold stacking is because they're beautiful there are so many different versions you can try and collect a lot of them the roosters are absolutely gorgeous that's the next on my list the Swiss Helvetica ones are very beautiful as well so there's lots of really cool unique designs throughout the years especially from all the different countries so if you're just buying random ones online you know the random mint random year ones then you can sort of get a nice variety and it's very fun as well so when you're stacking gold sometimes it's nice to mix it up a little bit and that is a great way to do it now another reason these are awesome for gold stacking I'll be perfectly honest with you is because they're affordable when you're buying gold a lot of times it's hard to spend a whole 15 hundred dollars for an ounce of gold now right now as I'm filming this the spot price is bouncing around somewhere in the neighborhood of 1550 to 1575 for an ounce of gold so to buy a whole ounce you really gotta have some cash on hand and if you don't have that much if you like like I said if you have around 300 bucks you can pick one of these up so they're a lot more for affordable easier to stack easier to pick up you know you can pick up one of these and not have to pick up a quarter ounce of gold and worry about paying a premium because like I said these have a very low premium so fractional gold is awesome it's able to be broken down obviously smaller than an ounce this is less than a fifth of an ounce of gold so very cool piece very awesome for stacking like I said those are my thoughts on the the positives for stacking these some of the negatives is that these have been faked in the past for sure so I would highly recommend buying from recognized large bullion dealer don't buy from private party unless you're very sure about how to test them and sure about what you're doing so yeah that's just a recommendation I would have and another con is that these are only 90 percent gold some people have a problem with that I've got no problem with that I'm happy to buy 90 percent gold some people just want pure gold though the four 9s fine I suppose so that's fine for them but for me this is absolutely fine for gold stacking alright so those were my thoughts on the European 20 franc gold coins and why they're awesome for gold stacking if you have anything you'd like to add to the conversation definitely leave a comment down below I do want to say a massive thank you so much for watching my video and I will see you all in the next one silver dragons out
